The Ford Edge is a range of crossover SUVs manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. Introduced for the 2007 model year, the Edge is the first mid-size CUV marketed by Ford in North America; the model line is currently in its second generation. Deriving its name from a trim package of the Ford Ranger, the Ford Edge is positioned between the Ford Escape and the Ford Explorer within the Ford product line.
Sharing its underpinnings with the Ford Fusion sedan, Ford has also produced the model line as the Lincoln MKX (since 2019, the Lincoln Nautilus). The second generation is also marketed by Ford of Europe, positioned between the Kuga (Escape) and the Explorer PHEV.
All production of the first two generations of the Ford Edge is sourced from Ford of Canada at Oakville Assembly (Oakville, Ontario) alongside the Nautilus.
The third generation launched in 2023 is called the Edge L, and was first produced and sold exclusively in China.

- Summary: The back up camera image flipped upside down about five years ago. it will occasionally flip right side up for short while, but then flips back. Also, I see where there was a recall of 2020 and 2021 Ford Edges with similar back up camera issues. It seems that the problem existed prior to those years already. Is there any chance that the this problem be acknowledged by Ford to me, an earlier and current owner ?

- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-01
- VIN: 2FMDK4JC3EB

- Summary: In 2020, I paid a local Ford Dealership to replace my back up camera on my 2014 Ford Edge SEL. The camera had failed and gave the " camera not available" to driver. Worked until July of 2024. In July, the new camera failed. The camera "inverted" the image the driver sees. This makes it impossible to use the camera safely for backing up or hazard during back up. The back-up camera has failed, and we can replace it at your cost"

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2020-01-29
- VIN: 2FMDK3KC6EB
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: The drive door is consistently not locking properly and the door latch sensor is not reading when the door is shut properly. Causing a "door ajar" and "transmission not in park" warning to pop up while driving. Also, my car alarm goes off several times a day and several times all through the night due to the door sensor not working properly. The doors not locking is a huge safety risk. The interior lights stay on making it hard to see while driving at night and drains my car battery. Children can open my doors from the inside while driving and any unwanted person can open my doors from the outside while stopped for traffic reasons. When I looked at the car to purchase 4 years ago, I reported the issue to the dealer and the dealer supposedly sent the car to a Ford dealership to inspect and fix the issue. After the supposed fix, the issue seemed fine for a while. However, the issue came back shortly after purchase and got worse causing other symptoms such as the car alarm going off randomly after locking the car. I honestly feel the dealer just cleaned the sensor and door latch area to make a sale, which from what I've read is only a temporary fix. I have seen investigations and recalls for 2011, 2012, and 2013 Ford Edge models with the same or similar issues. However, there have not been any investigations and recalls for this issue on a 2014 Ford Edge, yet there are many complaints. Please investigate this safety issue so we don't have to worry about possible risk that could occur while driving. Thank you.

- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the link shaft bracket, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. Owners received an interim notification detailing safety risk December 8, 2020. A second letter will be mailed when parts become available in January 2021. The recall began February 2, 2021. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 20S63.

- Components: POWER TRAIN:AXLE ASSEMBLY:AXLE SHAFT

In the affected vehicles, the halfshaft retention circlip may not have been properly installed, and as a result, the halfshaft may move outward and disengage from the linkshaft while driving and without prior warning.

I'm glad to hear that you find the entry and exit process easy. It's great to know that the ride comfort is very good and that you don't feel tired after a long trip. It's also good to hear that the fuel mileage is within the posted figures, and that you sometimes get 26 on the road and mostly 17 around town. Additionally, I'm pleased to hear that you like the layout of the interior.

Bought my Edge after a lifetime of Hondas, only wish I had sooner. Sporty look, classy interior, and great gas mileage in the city. The car holds the road so well with its solid build. The back seat is very roomy and comfortable. I drove across the USA the first week I bought the Edge and it performed flawlessly. Overall, I give it an A+.

I was a little hesitant about purchasing a used vehicle, but this car has exceeded my expectations. It drives smoothly, and I absolutely adore the panorama moon roof and luxurious interior. I love everything about this vehicle. I will try to post a review next year to share my thoughts then as well.
-
This is a very comfortable car that is great for long trips. It handles very well and is easy to get into. Even though I'm 6'1, there is still plenty of room in the back seat for my 6'3 son. The only downside is the gas mileage.

After putting my first 1000 miles on my new 2013 limited with ecoboost, I can confidently say that I am extremely satisfied with the car's performance and ride quality. Although the Ford entertainment system could use some improvement, I recently upgraded the software and noticed some positive changes. The 2.0 liter turbo is impressively quick, especially when you need to accelerate quickly. I have a friend with the 2013 V6 in his edge and the turbo seems a lot quicker. However, I did notice some road noise coming from the trunk area, which was quite bothersome at 60 mph. To address this issue, I lined the trunk under the tire with 1

I really wanted to love my Ford Edge, but unfortunately, I've had a few issues with it. Although I initially fell in love with its looks and ride, I experienced a problem with one of the rear fold downs just one month into ownership. However, the dealership was able to fix it for me. After that, I noticed an annoying rattle, but the dealership was very helpful and it was eventually corrected with a new rear seat. Recently, my low tire sensor has gone bad, but the dealership has been very accommodating and is working to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, I did have a battery die on me at the grocery store on a Sunday, but I understand that these things can happen. Additionally, the back-up camera has stopped working, which is a bit inconvenient, but I'm confident that the dealership will be able to fix it. While I have had some issues with the Sync system, I'm hopeful that with a bit of patience and practice, I'll be able to master the voice commands. Overall, I'm still happy with my Ford Edge and I'm looking forward to many more happy years of ownership.

We purchased a 2013 EDGE SEL 4wd with 38,000 miles on it and it appeared to be in mint condition. However, after several months, we noticed that one of the rubber door gaskets was twisted out of position and could not be reinserted, so we had to have it replaced. Another gasket detached from the driver's door when we grabbed the top portion of the door, although it was easily put back in position. Although we have owned 15 cars in our lifetime, we have never had a door gasket fail before. When test driving our Edge, we did not notice how the doors close with a clank, unlike our son's 2014 Corolla that closes with a 'THUD.' We feel that all four doors seem kind of flimsy for a nearly $40k retail vehicle. We are not fond of the rear bumper top surface, which on many SUV's (including our Hyundai Santa Fe) have a black protective plastic shield. We already have a dozen scratches and dings in the bumper's pearl white paint from normal wear and tear. We will look into an aftermarket protector. Although the transmission shifts strangely from a stop into first gear, or when downshifting from first, as it kind of slams into gear, which doesn't inspire confidence, we are glad we bought an extended warranty. We will bring it in to have it checked out, but in our experience with other vehicles with the same kind of problem, it usually doesn't show up as an error code. Road noise on the highway is higher than we would have expected, which could be the factory Michelin tires. We will have them inspected but we are not confident they will find anything. Seating and visibility are excellent, and interior materials seem to be of good quality. When braking, the EDGE doesn't slow down smoothly as other vehicles we've owned. We have to apply more brake pressure than we're used to, and the Edge kind of stops abruptly. That's probably our biggest complaint, so again we have to bring it to the shop to have it looked at.The rotors were replaced at no cost to you just a week after purchasing the vehicle, as they were found to be rusted and noisy. However, the dealer should have also replaced the pads but unfortunately did not. It would be great if the USB ports were more easily accessible instead of being hidden in the center armrest. If the brakes operated more smoothly and the road noise was reduced, you would be a lot happier with this EDGE.

I really enjoy driving this midsize SUV from Ford, but there are a few things that could be improved. For example, I wish the trunk opened higher and the side mirrors were larger. The touch screen entertainment center could also use some work, as the buttons don't always respond when touched and connecting a smartphone to the car's Bluetooth can be a bit of a hassle. Despite these minor issues, I still think this is a great vehicle. However, there have been some occasional problems with the steering wheel buttons not corresponding with the entertainment center and the display not activating upon starting the car. Additionally, the A/C system has had some issues with the driver side blowing hot air while the passenger side blows cold air. The gas cap has also been a constant source of frustration, throwing off warning lights on the dashboard. Overall, though, I still think this is a wonderful midsize SUV from Ford. The dual zone air conditioning system has had some issues, particularly with the linkage between the steering wheel buttons and the radio being iffy at times. Unfortunately, the gas cap has been a constant pain point from Ford, with the Check Engine light frequently coming on due to their gas cap system. Additionally, the air conditioning system has become lackluster over time. It's worth noting that the split system into two hemispheres has caused some electronic issues and required maintenance. Lastly, getting air conditioning to the back seat of the SUV can be difficult through the small vents behind the center console. Overall, it's clear that there are some areas for improvement, but we appreciate your feedback and will work to address these issues.

If you're upgrading from a small or mid-size car to this SUV, there will be a bit of an adjustment. It's larger and costlier, and it takes a little time to adjust to its blind spots. Luckily, there are blind spot mirrors and a backup camera. The SUV handles great, has plenty of power and cargo room. I did buy the small screen backup camera, but I would recommend buying the larger screen. Unfortunately, I have not been able to achieve the gas mileage that the SUV is rated at. Generally, it's been 17 miles per gallon of gas in the city, not the 19 on the sticker. I was disappointed to hear about the cost of repairing the coolant pump.

I recently traded in my Edge for a Sorento. Although I'm 5'7 and there was enough headroom in the interior of the car, I found the design of the door to be lacking. I bumped my head getting out all the time and my seat was lowered. The curve of the door was not in a good spot and passengers said the same thing. Additionally, the lights were not bright enough and the technology, while seeming great at first, was distracting and hard to control while driving. The review mirror was dimmed at night and awkward, and there were vision issues on the side of the car while looking to turn. Lastly, there were door ajar control issues with the hatch. Overall, I am much happier with my Sorento.
