- Summary: Few months back the car stopped working. I took it to repair shop (#1), and they told me I needed to replace the battery. I had them install a new battery, and the car started again. Couple of days later, the car was dead again, so I jumped it. I jumped it about 3 more times, within 2 weeks, so I decided to take it back to the same repair shop, and they told me maybe I got a defective battery, so I exchanged battery for a new one, again. Few days later, the car was dead again, so I took it to another repair shop (#2), and explained the problem. They told they'll run a diagnosis and would let me know They kept it for 4 days, and the end result was; the car started every time they tried it. The car would run for few days, then the same thing wold happen - completely dead! I took it to a different repair shop (#3), and again, they told me they run it everyday, and they could not find anything wrong. All three repair shops said their machine did not come up with any code. All fuses and relays tested OK. It has been over six months, and I am still having the same issue. 2 or 3 days, and the car is completely dead. I don't drive it as much now, because I am afraid the car will die on me at any time, without notice. From what I've read, I think my car has a "parasitic drain" somewhere.

The only warning light was a wrench on the display. All electrical power remained on but there was no engine power and no acceleration. We were fortunate there was a shoulder where I was able to pull over. I coasted the car down the exit and onto a street away from traffic. I waited about 10 minutes, turned the car off and turned it back on and it started. The wrench light on the display was off. I called the local Ford Dealership and the Service Advisor said there were no recalls and that I would need to pay for a diagnostic check. The issue has not reoccurred.

After 20 miles of driving in two trips the power steering failed at the start of a third trip on 8/6/2021. I struggled to get the vehicle to a parking lot and turned it off. The yellow image of a car skidding had appeared on the information display. I turned the vehicle back on and the steering operated as normal. I drove the vehicle again on 8/8/2021 and it operated as normal. It is necessary for Ford to inform all owners of this issue as it could result in an accident if a driver is not aware of the potential for a power steering failure.

A few years ago, I was in Charlotte, North Carolina where I had been training five truck drivers. We needed a large vehicle to transport us to Dallas, TX. The agent offered us a PT Cruiser, but after I expressed my concerns, the manager kindly gave us a Ford Flex instead. It was a great ride with plenty of room for our luggage and tools, and it was great on gas too. Since then, I have owned two Ford Taurus cars, and I am looking forward to getting a Flex soon. I absolutely loved it!
-
This car is roomy, comfortable, and quiet. It stands out from any other car on the road and I get a lot of compliments on it! It's easy to drive and I love the ease of getting in and out of it. It's an exceptional family car!
-
You're in for a treat with this sweet ride, it packs a lot of power!
-
I'm so glad to hear that you love this vehicle! It sounds like it's exactly what you were looking for and that you're very satisfied with your purchase!
-
This car is really spacious and roomy, perfect for winter with its AWD. We went for the fully loaded and optioned out flex, only missing the sunroofs and rear children's DVD players, which are well-known problems with these cars. If you're buying used, it's a good idea to check the vehicle maintenance history to see if the EcoBoost motor's turbos, water pump, and timing chain have been replaced. Otherwise, it's best to save up some cash for when that may happen. Overall, it's an excellent vehicle!

My 2015 Flex Limited has been a disappointment due to poor workmanship, cheap materials, limited range for a high-end vehicle, poor mileage, and a noisy interior.
Lorenza Pouros 2024-10-01
I purchased this car brand new in 2014. Unfortunately, at 19k miles, I started to hear a clicking noise every time I did a U-turn or accelerated while turning. I took it to Galpin Ford and they told me it was the axle, which they fixed. However, at 27k miles, the same clicking noise came back and I had to get a new axle again. At 35k miles, my steering went out, but luckily it was in a parking lot. Unfortunately, the clicking noise returned and I had to get a new power steering and another axle. At 46k miles, the car left me stranded four times. By this time, the axle was clicking again, there was a bad exhaust smell when the car accelerated, and the car would not turn on. After fighting with Ford to cover the repairs, since the vehicle was out of warranty, I finally got it fixed. However, at 57k miles, the smell is back and the axle is clicking again. I decided to call a Lemon Law firm instead of Ford. I would advise staying away from Ford as they may look nice, but they are not reliable cars.

Open Letter to FORD CEO. Dear Mr. Fields, I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to you today to bring to your attention an issue I have been experiencing with my leased 2014 Ford Flex SEL. As a first-time Ford customer, I was drawn to your company by the appealing designs of your vehicles. However, my experience with my car has been less than satisfactory. With less than 5000 miles on the car, it was involved in a rollaway accident while in park and unattended. Despite multiple attempts to get the attention of both Worthington Ford and Power Ford dealerships, it took over a year for an inspection to take place at WF. Unfortunately, I was not able to speak with the inspector to understand what tests were conducted and what findings were made. Instead, I received a form letter denying my claim without any explanation. Additionally, I have been dealing with two warning lights on my dash for the past year and a half. The yellow check engine light appeared when the fuel fill flap popped off my filler spout. Although the vehicle was serviced by PF at approximately 30k miles, they failed to make the repair and instead tried to sell me a set of tires. The next service at WF with approximately 39k miles cost me $523.39 to replace the filler assembly. WF indicated that the warranty was no longer available for this part as the vehicle is above 36k miles, but it would have been covered under warranty if PF had performed the requested repair. I would appreciate your attention to these issues and any assistance you can provide in resolving them. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, [Your Name]The sensor for the driver's side door closing is malfunctioning, causing the 'open door' warning to flash and a tone to ring every time the vehicle comes to a stop. It seems to be a common issue with this vehicle, and unfortunately, it was not repaired during the 30k service as requested. Despite being a warranty item, I was informed that the $450 repair bill was my responsibility since I had exceeded 36k miles. When I reached out to Ford corporate customer service, my concerns were not addressed, and I was not offered any compensation for the out-of-pocket warranty repairs I had made. Instead, I was only offered to split the cost of future warranty items. I understand that the mileage was slightly over, but passing on the repair bill for a known issue is not the best way to build customer loyalty. I decided to turn in the vehicle early to avoid dealing with the issue and the annoying warning chimes. Unfortunately, the closest dealer to my home, PF, refused to take the car since I didn't purchase it there. I made an appointment at the purchasing dealer, WF, and despite fighting through an hour of LA traffic, I arrived five minutes before the appointment time (6 pm) only to be told that I had missed the leasing manager. When asked if I wanted to make an appointment for the next day, I responded with frustration and left the keys with the receptionist.

Although the car has not given us any mechanical problems, we have found it uncomfortable to drive on long trips due to leg and neck cramps. The touch screen can be distracting and the visibility is poor. Additionally, the electronic turn signal is not to our liking. We have also experienced issues with the low front bumper hitting curbs and cracking, which can be expensive to repair. Despite these challenges, we have owned the car for over seven years and have driven 120,000 miles. While we are ready to move on to a new vehicle, we appreciate the reliability it has provided us. Despite experiencing multiple issues with our car, we have been able to handle them with confidence. We recently had to replace a second wheel bearing and had an issue with the bolts holding the rear end, but we were able to address these problems effectively. Although we still owe 13 months of financing at $471.00 per month, we have been able to manage the average repair cost of $850 per year over the past five years. While it may not be our favorite car, we are confident in our ability to maintain it for the time being.

I bought my flex usec from Carmax. The styling is really nice, with a two-tone red and black roof. However, I'm not a fan of the interior, which is two-toned with dark grey leather and a light beige roof. My biggest issue is with the handling in the rain. Whenever I drive over a puddle, it feels like the water grabs my wheels and jerks the car, making me worry about hydroplaning. I was hoping that purchasing new tires would help, but unfortunately, it didn't. That's the main reason why I'm considering getting a different vehicle. Additionally, the maintenance costs are high and it's a bit of a gas guzzler. Despite these negatives, I really enjoy driving it in dry conditions and there's plenty of room inside.
