One main difference between the Tribute and the Ford Escape/Maverick is that the Tribute's suspension is tuned for a firmer ride than the Escape/Maverick, in order to correspond with Mazda's sporty image. As Mazda had offered "spiced up" models in other segments such as the Mazda3 and CX-7, the utilitarian Tribute was replaced by the more aggressively styled and in-house-designed Mazda CX-5 in North America.

- Summary: The Timken Company (Timken) is recalling certain aftermarket front wheel bearings, part number 510072, sold from January 22, 2015, to May 21, 2015, to be used as service parts on 2001-2012 Ford Escape, 2001-2011 Mazda Tribute, and 2005-2011 Mercury Mariner vehicles. The affected wheel bearings have incorrect dimensions of a 42mm bore, 76mm outer dimension, and 39mm width, instead of a 42mm bore, 78mm outer dimension and a 45mm width.
- Consequence: Use of an incorrectly sized wheel bearing can adversely affect the braking and steering of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Timken has begun notifying distributors who will offer purchasers replacement wheel bearings, free of charge. The recall began on May 21, 2015. Owners may contact Timken customer service at 1-866-984-6536.

If a vehicle shows a history of a loss of the torque sensor signal or fault codes relating to the PSCM when the vehicle is brought in for the recall remedy, the affected components will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began in July 2014. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500. Mazda's number for this recall is 7614E.

I purchased my Tribute in early June 08 and have been very happy with it. I took the car from Virginia to Florida and it performed very well. Although it was a little cramped for the four of us plus our luggage, we still managed to get 26+ mpg with the air conditioning on the whole way. Overall, it is an excellent car considering its price point.

Yesterday, I was in an accident where someone ran a red light and broadsided my car. Despite the severity of the collision, my daughter and I walked away unscathed. I am confident that the side airbags in my Mazda Tribute played a crucial role in protecting us from serious injuries. I am proud to say that I love my Mazda Tribute.

Hi there! About a month ago, I noticed that the rear wheel well areas of my SUV were rusting and the paint was peeling. I took it to Mazda, who sent me to a collision place to get a quote for repairs. The collision place informed me that they had the exact same model in the day before and decided to check the seams of the doors, under the hood, and the back door. Unfortunately, they found that all the seams were rusting and they could only do a bandage job on it. I was hoping to keep this SUV for a number of years, but the guy told me that in a couple of years, holes will start to appear. It only has 62,000 Km on it, and I believe it most definitely should not be rusting! I am currently waiting to hear back from Mazda. Thanks for your help!

This SUV is great for city driving and performs well on the highway. The engine is not overpowered, even when running the air conditioner in the city. The pick-up is there if you need it. I really like the black trim around the vehicle, as it's becoming less common and the monochromatic look is not my style. Additionally, the engine is not loud and there is minimal road noise.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with my 2008 Tribute. While I mostly enjoy driving it, I have noticed that it doesn't handle very well in the rain or on curves, which can be a bit scary at times. Additionally, if you happen to be tall, watch out for the headlight switch - I've accidentally cut my leg on the molded ring around it several times. Lastly, I had some trouble with the sunglass holders popping open, but thankfully the dealer was able to replace them for me.

The Mazda Tribute has had some issues with the transmission cooler, including leaks and recalls. Despite having it fixed once, the problem persists. It is important to ensure that service is available in your area, especially if you live in the Northwest Territories. While we have had to drive to Grand Prairie, Alberta for service, Mazda Canada has been less than helpful in reimbursing us for the cost. However, we remain confident in the quality of the Mazda Tribute and believe that with proper servicing, it can be a reliable vehicle.

I've had my 08 Tribute for a month now and I'm enjoying it, although I do sometimes wish I had gone for the V6. I used to have a V6 Escape that I probably should have kept. The 4 has been fine so far, although some days it feels faster than others. I was hoping to save on gas, but for now, I haven't noticed much of a difference.

I have experienced several issues with my Mazda vehicle within a short period of time. These include chipping and bubbling paint, noise from the front that sounds like the brakes need replacing, and headlights that had to be completely replaced. Additionally, there was a washer fluid leak on the hood, a tie down in the back fell off, and there was paint bubbling. If you own the lt sage, I recommend checking for bubbles of pin head paint. The vehicle also squeaks on very hot days and during long rides in stop and go traffic, and does not have great pickup. Lastly, the dash color reflects on the windshield, which can be somewhat distracting. Despite these issues, I remain confident in Mazda's overall quality and will continue to consider their vehicles in the future.

Hi there! I noticed that the MPG on my new 4 cyl car is not as good as my previous 2002 tribute V6. Although it looks nice, I was hoping for better fuel efficiency. I am considering trading it in sooner than later.
