The Ford Edge is a range of crossover SUVs manufactured by the Ford Motor Company. Introduced for the 2007 model year, the Edge is the first mid-size CUV marketed by Ford in North America; the model line is currently in its second generation. Deriving its name from a trim package of the Ford Ranger, the Ford Edge is positioned between the Ford Escape and the Ford Explorer within the Ford product line.

Sharing its underpinnings with the Ford Fusion sedan, Ford has also produced the model line as the Lincoln MKX (since 2019, the Lincoln Nautilus). The second generation is also marketed by Ford of Europe, positioned between the Kuga (Escape) and the Explorer PHEV.

All production of the first two generations of the Ford Edge is sourced from Ford of Canada at Oakville Assembly (Oakville, Ontario) alongside the Nautilus.

The third generation launched in 2023 is called the Edge L, and was first produced and sold exclusively in China.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-04-19
  • VIN: 2FMDK4KC7AB
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: Brakes not working right, feel spongy. Not sure if I would stop at stop signs or coming up behind other vehicles. Also heard a hissing sound when stepping on brakes. Took to Brakes Plus center and they determined it was the power brake booster and master cylinder and that the car should not be driven due to the severity of the problem. We called a Ford Dealership and validated my vin was not part of a recall and that the car had never had this issue fixed previously. The Brakes Plus employee found there was a recall for this exact issue, but as stated before, the vin was not part of this recall. I had to have the brakes fixed immediately to prevent harm to others or myself. I called a Ford Dealership to get an appointment, left a message, but still have not heard back from them so I had it fixed at Brakes Plus. The car never displayed any warning that I am aware of. Due to this being a known severe issue, I believe Ford should cover this issue regardless of the year, model or mileage of car. It seems to be a part that was used in many Ford vehicles and should have been a recall for any vehicle.

  • Manufacturer: Ford Motor Company
  • Park It: 1
  • Components: AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:PASSENGER SIDE:INFLATOR MODULE
  • Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2007-2011 Ford Ranger vehicles, 2006-2011 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephyr/MKZ vehicles, 2007-2010 Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX vehicles, 2005-2006 Ford GT vehicles, and 2005-2011 Ford Mustang vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands, or "Zone A." Additionally, unless included in "Zone A" above, Ford is recalling certain model year 2007-2008 Ford Ranger, Edge and Lincoln MKX vehicles, 2006-2008 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephyr/MKZ vehicles, 2005-2006 Ford GT vehicles and 2005-2008 Ford Mustang vehicles originally sold, or ever registered, in Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, District of Columbia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia, or "Zone B." Any vehicle not included in "Zone A", or "Zone B" is not included in the safety recall. These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the front air bags, these inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling.
  • Consequence: An inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death.
  • Remedy: Owners are advised not to drive their vehicles until the repair has been performed. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the passenger frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. Ford mailed interim letters informing owners that parts are not yet available on July 15, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 19S01.

Negative 2010 Ford Edge car reviews

Hey there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share that I've been having some trouble with my car lately. Unfortunately, it's not drivable even though I spent over $1500 on it. I'm planning to give it one more try to fix it in the summer. It seems like the dealer may have sold me a lemon, but I'm hopeful that we can work something out. Thanks for listening!

  2. Garrison Adams 2024-10-14

You'll enjoy it until the internal water pump fails and spills all the fluid into the engine. It's best to avoid the Duratec 3.5l engine. Unfortunately, Ford has not taken any action to recall or address the problems associated with this issue. This has caused many loyal customers to lose faith in the brand. Personally, I don't think I'll be purchasing another Ford anytime soon!

  3. Xavier Howe 2024-09-26

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share my thoughts on the Ford Edge. While it offers a comfortable ride and plenty of room, I did notice that the interior has a somewhat cheap plastic feel, which I assume is a cost-cutting measure. Unfortunately, the braking system is a big weakness. The brakes feel somewhat spongy and the stopping distance is too long. This makes me feel less confident that I can stop quickly in an emergency situation.

  4. Clyde White 2024-08-11

The Edge falls short in several areas. Its design resembles a Lexus RX, but it appears to have indulged in too many donuts. The interior lacks efficient use of space, and the dashboard is excessively large. The sloped back hinders its cargo-carrying capacity, and the floor is made of flimsy cardboard-like material that flexes under any weight. Its towing capabilities are minimal, and the hitch sits too low. The handling is subpar and tracks poorly. It is surprising that Ford developed this model for the masses after the Explorers. The mileage is average, and it feels sluggish due to its overweight.

  5. Nasir Goyette 2024-06-08

I test drove several vehicles before deciding on this one. I was really impressed with the smooth ride and the slightly larger 3.5l motor that this car had. Unfortunately, all three versions of the car that I tested had navigation, which I didn't need. However, I did encounter a few issues. As someone else has already pointed out, the radio display is not very good. Additionally, some of the information that is available on other cars' driver information centers is not available on the Ford. There are also limited options for exit/entry lighting, etc. Lastly, the car had a vibration issue which made me question its quality. Despite these issues, I kept the car for 10 days before deciding to sell it at a loss because I knew it wasn't the right fit for me.

Positive 2010 Ford Edge car reviews

  1. Stevie Moore 2025-01-03

I have owned both BMWs and Mercedes-Benz in the past, but I must say that my Edge is just as good as those luxury cars. Despite being a 2010 model with 73,000 miles, it still runs great and I plan to keep driving it until it can no longer go. Even with the mileage now at 84,950, I still adore my Edge. It's now at 86,000 miles and running beautifully, and I still love it so much. Although it needs 2 new tires (ouch), I still have a soft spot for this car! 😍

  2. Kane Lesch 2024-11-28

Only had it a month but I'm really impressed with the ride and highway manners. I bought it in Germany so I rode the autobahn for the first 600 miles, getting 19 mpg while varying the speed between 50-100 mph, with one smooth run up to 125 and back. So far, I'm very happy with my first Ford product. Although there is some BAD orange peel on the rear hatch, it will be repainted by Ford. Overall, I think it's a great car!

Limited AWD. I'm glad to hear that you traded in your 07 Explorer and are happy with your new vehicle so far. The styling both inside and out is perfect and the fit and finish is OK. It's great to hear that you find the ride comfortable and that there is plenty of leg room in both the front and back. You're getting 19.4 MPG so far in mixed driving which is impressive!

  5. Ahmed Prosacco 2024-09-27

Comfort is great! The seats are firm and there's lots of elbow room. The ride is smooth and quiet with plenty of power. If you're considering the SEL with leather option, I recommend spending a few hundred more and getting the Limited. The stereo system is much better, and the power fold-down rear seats and chrome belt window plate are great features. I looked at the SEL after the Limited and I'm glad I went with the Limited. I drive 43 miles to work, 5 of which are in the city with some rush hour traffic, and I'm getting 25.2 mpg.
