The GX is a great SUV that offers plenty of space, although it may not be the best option for larger families or groups of more than 5 people. The third row is not particularly spacious, and children may prefer to sit in the mid row to avoid it. As expected from a V8 engine, gas mileage is not the best, but the power it provides is more than enough for highway driving. Despite having a V8 engine, the GX remains fairly quiet even after years of use. Overall, the GX is a great SUV, but it is important to keep in mind the potential need for more frequent gas trips and the limited space in the third row.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with the GX that I bought on 12/24/07. When we were looking for a new SUV, we checked out the Sequoia and the Yukon, but after test driving all three, the GX was the clear winner in terms of driving luxury. We needed something bigger than our 12-year-old Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the Lexus has been perfect for both road trips and everyday driving. In fact, just three days after buying it, we took it on a ski vacation to UP Michigan and it handled great in the snow and over long distances. The third row is also really easy to remove for extra storage. I was a bit worried about the rear hatch opening, but it's actually really convenient for getting things in and out. The only thing I wish was different is that the side mirrors folded in mechanically and the third row folded flat. Thanks for listening!

Of all the vehicles I have owned, this is definitely the best one for the whole family. I used to drive an Infiniti Q45 which was an excellent vehicle but unfortunately didn't have enough room. My wife drives a Honda Pilot, which I dread to drive because of the intolerable road noise. However, the GX470 is the end result of my hours of research and test drives. It feels like driving in the quiet comfort and luxury of my previous Q45, with the roominess of the Honda Pilot.

Hi there! I just wanted to share my experience with my 2008 GX470. It's been over a year and I've driven 14,000 miles and I still absolutely love it! Every time I get in, I feel like a million bucks and I know I made the right choice. I mainly use it for commuting to work, which is about 40 miles each way. When I get home, it's great to know that my trusty vehicle will be waiting for me in the morning. I did have a couple of minor issues with the driver side mirror and some black spots on my aluminum wheels, but the dealer fixed them quickly and even apologized for the inconvenience. Overall, I'm so happy with my truck and plan to drive it for a long time!

I purchased the vehicle 2 years ago to keep at my place in CO. It is used for ski trips in very bad road conditions, hardware store runs, touring state parks and going off road on occasion.The vehicle is well maintained, but lives a hard life and it drives like a new vehicle despite having 120,000 miles on it. It is not as refined as newer vehicles, but that said I don't think I could find a more reliable vehicle that drives as well as this one in all the conditions I encounter in CO. I would buy another GX470 without question.

We purchased this car in November, just before Thanksgiving, but I have to admit that I'm not entirely satisfied with it. We compared it to the Tahoe and Escalade and ultimately chose the Lexus due to its high resale value. However, I find the lack of trunk space with the third row folded up and the bulky 4WD shifter to be quite frustrating. Most manufacturers have moved to a touch-button 4WD system, but Lexus has opted to keep the shifter, which takes up a significant portion of the center console. Additionally, the positioning of the shifter and 4WD controls makes it difficult to reach the heated seat controls, which can be quite inconvenient. Lastly, the transmission leaves something to be desired, as it shifts into a higher gear as soon as I begin to accelerate. Despite these issues, I'm hopeful that we can find a way to make it work for our needs.

I understand that some people may find these cars overly complex, but in my experience, they drive well for a heavy SUV and have a better ride than most. The engine has decent power, although it may be a bit expensive at the pump. It is true that the engine has a reputation for going many miles, but like any car, it can have its issues. However, these issues can be resolved with proper maintenance. While the cars may be heavy, they still perform well as 4X4s. It is important to note that like any car, rust can be an issue in certain areas. After shopping around for a while, we finally found the GX470. It was the perfect size for us and had great four-wheel drive capabilities, which was important to us. Plus, it's built in Japan, so we knew we could count on its reliability. However, I did find that the interior was a bit lacking.
