1995 Chrysler Cirrus problems
The Chrysler Cirrus is a mid-sized 4-door notchback sedan introduced by Chrysler motors for the 1995 model year. Built on the Chrysler JA platform, the 4-door notchback sedan joined Chrysler's roster of "Cloud Car" models drawing their names from meteorological terms, including the mid-priced Dodge Stratus it was based on introduced at the same time, and the low-priced Plymouth Breeze variant a year later.
Design
Development of the Cirrus started in 1991, with the goal of creating an affordable, expressive-looking, fun-to-drive vehicle that was still safe enough to transport an everyday family.
The concept car designed for the 1992 auto show circuit featured rear suicide doors and a 400 hp (298 kW; 406 PS) turbocharged 3.0 L two-stroke engine using alcohol fuel. The concept also foreshadowed a hood-line with almost no break with the windshield to improve aerodynamics.
Both the concept and production model used the Chrysler Corporation's new cab-forward design, which was launched on the larger LH sedans in 1992. This three-box design was characterized by a large passenger cabin in proportion to a comparatively short hood and trunk, highlighted by a long, dramatically slanted windshield and short overhangs. Pushing the wheels further to the corners of the body created a much larger cabin than most other similarly sized vehicles of that time.
The a four-door notchback sedan was designed with flowing lines with no distinct beginning or end, but almost resembled a two-box fastback. Design work was done during 1991, with the final version moved on for production by 1992.

Common 1995 Chrysler Cirrus problems
The Chrysler Cirrus, produced from 1995 to 2000, has been reported to have several common problems based on complaints from owners. The spark plug tube seals are responsible for sealing the spark plugs in the cylinder head, preventing air and fuel leaks. When these seals fail, air and fuel can leak, leading to misfires and reduced performance.
Another common issue with the Chrysler Cirrus is starting and stalling problems. Some owners have reported that their cars stall while driving or when slowing down, and may have difficulty starting again. In some cases, the crankshaft position sensor may be the culprit. This sensor is responsible for providing information about the position of the crankshaft to the engine control module, which in turn controls the ignition and fuel systems. If the sensor fails, the engine may have difficulty starting or may stall while driving.
Electrical problems have also been reported by Chrysler Cirrus owners. Some have reported intermittent issues with their dash lights, indicating a problem with the electrical system. These issues can be difficult to diagnose, as they may not occur consistently. In some cases, the problem may be related to a faulty alternator or battery, while in other cases, the issue may be more complex and may require the attention of a qualified mechanic.
In addition to these issues, some Chrysler Cirrus owners have reported problems with the engine, fuel system, windows, and transmission. These issues may be less common than the ones mentioned above, but they can still cause significant problems for owners.
In summary, the Chrysler Cirrus has several common problems that have been reported by owners. These include issues with the spark plug tube seals, starting and stalling problems, electrical issues, and problems with the engine, fuel system, windows, and transmission. While these issues can be frustrating for owners, they can often be addressed with the help of a qualified mechanic.

- VIN: 1C3EJ56H5SN
- Components: UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: THE CONDITION I WILL DESCRIBE HAS EXISTED WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE WE BOUGHT IT. I HAVE THE WORK ORDERS FROM THE TWO DEALERS I HAVE WORKED WITH TO RESOLVE THE PROBEM. EACH TIME IT HAS COST ABOUT $250.00 TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND I DON'T WANT TO SPEND THESE $$$ AGAIN. WHAT HAPPENS IS THAT WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR DOES NOT RESPOND. IT COUGHS, HESITATES AND VERY SLOWLY ACCELERATES. IN TRAFFIC, THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. IT TAKES ABOUT SEVEN TO TEN SECONDS TO FINALLY REACH TRAFFIC SPEED. FORTUNATELY, WE HAVE ESCAPED ANY COLLISION-- SO FAR, BUT WE HAVE COME VERY CLOSE SEVERAL TIMES. THE CAR WAS GOOD FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS AND SUDDENLY, THIS PAST WEEK IT STARTED HESITAING AGAIN. THE CAR HAS ABOUT 55,000 MILES, BUT, AS I SAID, THIS CONDITION HAS BEEN WITH THE CAR SINCE IT WAS NEW. I KNOW WHAT THE DEALERS WILL SAY-"WE'LL TAKE A LOOK AT IT", WHICH WILL COST A MINIMUM OF $100.00. THEY WILL KEEP THE CAR A FEW DAYS SAYING THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WELL, THE PROBLEM IS THERE, WHETHER THEY FIND IT OR NOT. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING AND VERY UNSAFE. I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL OR PROBLEM CALLED TO YOUR ATTENTION ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. CONTACT CHRYSLER, PLEASE, AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY. I REFUSE TO GO TO A DEALER-- THIS TIME--WITHOUT SOME DIRECTION FROM YOU.

I noticed that my 1995 Cirrus with 92,000 miles has started to leak around the front seal. However, I have had to replace the water pump and front seal since I bought the car. Despite these issues, I find this car to be very reliable. If you are considering purchasing a Cirrus, I would definitely recommend it based on my positive experience.

I bought my 95 with just over 50K on the odometer. Apart from general maintenance, the only repairs I've had done are a new battery and freeze plug. I just put my first set of tires on and got an alignment at 88K miles. My mechanic says the car looks good.

I have to say, this car has been great for me. My parents bought me my first starter car, and it has taken me everywhere with great gas mileage and no breakdowns so far (knock on wood).

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my Cirrus, which I bought brand new in 1995. I've had such a great time owning it! The best part is that I've never had to take it to the shop for unscheduled maintenance. It's amazing how efficient it is too - I get 29-30 MPG on the highway (with the V6) and 18-20 in the city. If you put a K&N air filter and better rubber on the car, it'll really get up and go! Overall, I've had a totally positive experience with my Cirrus. If you're interested in hearing from other folks who love their Cirrus, you should definitely check out www.stratusphere.org/indexx.shtml. Thanks for reading!

One of the coolest cars ever built! I love it. You should go for the 2.5 V6.

Here are the parts that have been replaced in the past two years: headlights (12 times), transmission, keyless entry remote (twice), brakes (7 times), rotors, struts (2), tie rods (2), CV joints (2), five sets of tires, exhaust, fuel filter, and intake manifold gasket. Although I take good care of it, this car has been a money pit. Unfortunately, the looks of the car won't grow on you and it has a below-average crash test rating. It's best to stay away from this car as it may leave you stranded on the side of the highway at 2am.

I'd be happy to share my driving experience with you, but unfortunately, the car is always breaking down. It's a shame that Chrysler went bankrupt, as their cars seem to spend more time with the mechanic than with the owner.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience with a vehicle I purchased in 2002 with 84,000 miles. While I did have some issues with it, such as the power steering pump, alternator, starter (twice), radio, and tape player, as well as a coolant leak and transmission problems, I was grateful to have AAA to help me out. When it was time to trade it in at 120,000 miles, I did run into some trouble with the odometer reading, but thankfully I was still able to get some value for it. Overall, it was a learning experience and I'm glad I had the support I needed. Thank you for listening!

This is my first car, and I think it's pretty decent. Although it has been in the shop a few times, I'm grateful for the comfortable seats and spacious backseat. Unfortunately, the dealership hasn't been much help and has even caused some issues. The car struggles a bit when passing on a two-lane highway, but overall it's been okay. The keyless entry and door locks have been a bit finicky, but I'm managing. It does use up quite a bit of gas, but oh well!

I checked out Edmunds.com review on the Cirrus before purchasing the vehicle. They raved about how remarkable it was, '1995 Car of the Year.' However, they did not inform me about the severe defects in the transmissions of the vehicles. I have taken the car in five times in the past five months due to the transmission module defect. Please remind your local mechanics that it is a defect in the transmission module and not the solenoid. Other than that problem, the car runs wonderfully and has a fairly good interior.
