Background
The Chrysler 300 continues a tradition of large front engine, rear-wheel drive V8-powered luxury sedans the company has offered, starting in the 1940s with the Chrysler Saratoga and Chrysler New Yorker, followed by the Chrysler Windsor, Chrysler Newport and the Chrysler Cordoba, with the last rear wheel drive sedan, the Chrysler Fifth Avenue that ended production in 1989.
When the company began operations in 1925, the Chrysler Six was entered as a roadster in the 1925 24 Hours of Le Mans where it finished the race, and in 1926, the Chrysler Imperial started the tradition of luxury and performance products. Starting in 1955, the Imperial became its own luxury brand and offered the Imperial Newport along with the Imperial Crown. The original Chrysler FirePower Hemi engine powered the Cunningham C-5R, a special racecar, and finished the 1952 Le Mans, 1953 Le Mans, and 1954 Le Mans endurance races, as well as the 1953 12 Hours of Sebring.

The vehicle was towed to the residence. An independent mechanic replaced the fuel pump and the fuel pump relays at the residence and informed the contact that the PCM needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 18V332000 (Electrical System, Vehicle Speed Control) and 19V018000 (Air Bags), as well as Emissions Recall: UB4 (Evaporative Emissions Canister). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.

AFTER AWHILE IT WENT OFF. AS SOON AS I GOT BACK ON THE FREEWAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN.THE SECOND TIME I ALMOST GOT HIT BY SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES. AFTER AWHILE THE WARNING LIGHT WENT OFF AND I RESUMED DRIVING.I TOOK MY CAR TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER IN TEMECULA CA AND AFTER INSPECTION THEY SAID IT WAS MY FAULT BECAUSE I HIT THE ACCELERATOR WHILE MY FOOT WAS STILL ON THE BRAKE OR VICE-VERSA. AND SO THEY CHARGED ME $183 TO TELL ME THAT. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED WITH ANY CAR I HAVE DRIVEN. THE DEALER SAYS ITS AN ISSUE WITH THE NEWER 300 MODELS. NO WARNING ANYWHERE IN MANUAL OR CAR. THIS IS A LIFE-THREATING ISSUE THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED AND CHRYSLER MOTORS IS IGNORING IT. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS SERIOUS ISSUE. A RECALL MUST BE MADE BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLLED!

I DIDN'T NOTICE WHAT WAS HAPPENING AT FIRST AND THEN THE ENGINES RPM INCREASED AND THE VEHICLE SPEED JUMPED TO 75 MPH. I TRIED BAKING AND THE CAR SLOWED DOWN TO 45 MPH. SINCE I WAS IN A 35 MPH ZONE AND WAS APPROACHING A CAR AHEAD OF ME I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE RPM INCREASED VERY HIGH. I CAN'T SAY HOW HIGH IT WENT AS I WAS BUSY TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WENT WRONG AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT. I TURNED INTO A PARKING LOT AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND THE ENGINE RPM SHOT UP OVER 6000. KNOWING THAT THE ONLY THING I DID WAS ADJUST THE PEDALS I PUSHED THE SWITCH IN THE OTHER DIRECTION AND RAISED THE PEDALS. THE RPM WENT BACK TO NORMAL IDLE SPEED. I PUSHED THE SWITCH TO LOWER THE PEDALS AND THE ENGINE RPM PICKED UP AGAIN AS THE PEDALS WENT DOWN SO I RAISED THE PEDALS UP AGAIN UNTIL THE RPM RETURNED TO IDLE SPEED. THE CAR CONTINUES TO DO THIS. I BELIEVE THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS SINCE THERE WAS NO WARNING THIS COULD HAPPEN WHEN ADJUSTING THE PEDALS AND IT COULD UNDER RARE CIRCUMSTANCES BE TRIGGERED IF SOME OBJECT WAS IN BETWEEN THE SWITCH AND THE FLOOR WHEN THE SEAT IS MOVED REARWARD. THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT AND NO ONE WAS INJURED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND SENT OUT ENGINEERS WHO COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE AND DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FINE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.
