2022 Chrysler 300 problems

chrysler logo

The Chrysler 300 is a full-size car manufactured and marketed by Stellantis North America and its predecessor companies as a four-door sedan and station wagon in its first generation (model years 2005–2010) and solely as a four-door sedan in its second generation (model years 2011–2023).

The second generation 300 was marketed as the Chrysler 300C in the United Kingdom and Ireland and as the Lancia Thema in the remainder of Europe.

Background

The Chrysler 300 continues a tradition of large front engine, rear-wheel drive V8-powered luxury sedans the company has offered, starting in the 1940s with the Chrysler Saratoga and Chrysler New Yorker, followed by the Chrysler Windsor, Chrysler Newport and the Chrysler Cordoba, with the last rear wheel drive sedan, the Chrysler Fifth Avenue that ended production in 1989.

When the company began operations in 1925, the Chrysler Six was entered as a roadster in the 1925 24 Hours of Le Mans where it finished the race, and in 1926, the Chrysler Imperial started the tradition of luxury and performance products. Starting in 1955, the Imperial became its own luxury brand and offered the Imperial Newport along with the Imperial Crown. The original Chrysler FirePower Hemi engine powered the Cunningham C-5R, a special racecar, and finished the 1952 Le Mans, 1953 Le Mans, and 1954 Le Mans endurance races, as well as the 1953 12 Hours of Sebring.

Common 2022 Chrysler 300 problems

The 2022 Chrysler 300 has been reported to have some common problems based on complaints from owners. Here are the details of the problems:

  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Failure: The TPMS sensor battery in the 2022 Chrysler 300 may fail prematurely, causing the sensor to become inoperative. This failure can lead to the TPMS sensor not alerting the driver to low tire pressure, which can result in tire failure and increase the risk of a crash.
  • Reliability Issues: While Consumer Reports expects the 2023 Chrysler 300 to be more reliable than other new cars, based on previous survey data of the 300 and the Chrysler brand scores, some owners have reported reliability issues with the 2022 model. However, the specific details of these reliability issues are not provided in the search results.
  • Fuel Efficiency: Some owners have reported that the 2022 Chrysler 300 gets 33 miles to the gallon on the highway, which may not be as fuel-efficient as some other vehicles in its class.

It's important to note that these are common problems reported by some owners of the 2022 Chrysler 300, but not all owners will experience these issues. Additionally, these problems may not be representative of the overall reliability and performance of the vehicle.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-09-07
  • VIN: 2C3CCABTXNH
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: I am concerned that a possible safety issue, such as brake failure, with the brake system has gone unrepaired for the past two months. Issues: 1. There is an obvious safety problem with the brakes. 2. The dealer, Chrysler/FCA/Stellantis are not able to repair this problem. The vehicle is available for inspection anytime. We purchased this vehicle brand new on March 31, 2022. The brakes shudder every time upon application especially when going down hill or during a deceleration from high speed. It becomes worse as the brakes heat up. This problem may have always been there but has become worse. The manufacturer's dealer (we bought the auto from this dealer) reproduced the shuddering on September 7, 2022. The service writer stated that brake rotors would be replaced under warranty. Two months later, both the dealer and Chrysler Customer Care claim that the rotors are not available. No date for availability was stated despite my many requests. I am concerned this serious problem can lead to a major accident and has not/cannot be repaired by the manufacturer.

2022-10-27
  • Manufacturer: Chrysler (FCA US, LLC)
  • Components: TIRES:PRESSURE MONITORING AND REGULATING SYSTEMS
  • Summary: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2022 Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, and Chrysler 300 vehicles. The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) sensor battery may fail prematurely and cause the sensor to become inoperative. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 138, "Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems."
  • Consequence: Inoperative TPMS sensors will not alert the driver to low tire pressure. In addition, a TPMS warning light that is already illuminated from a failed battery sensor will mask an actual tire pressure failure issue. Either of these scenarios can result in tire failure and increase the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the TPMS sensors, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 10, 2022. Owners may contact FCA US, LLC at 1-800-853-1403. FCA US, LLC's number for this recall is ZB5. This recall is an expansion of previous recall number 22V-504.

Negative 2022 Chrysler 300 car reviews

  1. Devyn Pouros 2024-08-12

Since the day of purchase, I have been experiencing a whining noise from the car. The rack and pinion were replaced, but the issue persisted. The dealership has now identified the problem as the electric pump, which is currently on order. Additionally, the backup camera has been replaced, but the new one still has visibility issues. The radio's favorite saving feature is not functioning despite attempts to update and reset it. As a previous owner of a 2010 Chrysler 300 S, I am disappointed with this purchase and the issues I have encountered within the first 5 months.

  2. Layne Kuhic 2024-03-07

The suspension on these things is terrible.

  3. Barry Roberts 2024-02-22

The front vents reflecting on both rear view mirrors is a visual hazard. However, the heated leather seats are comfortable and the trunk space is adequate. With regards to the torque and ride, I am confident that improvements can be made. Overall, the car has many positive features and with some adjustments, it can be even better.

Positive 2022 Chrysler 300 car reviews

  1. Glen Zemlak 2024-11-25

Love it! My second 300 first 300s. Love how it handles and the roominess it provides for my wife and me. It gets good MPG for its size. With the 300s, I got more options and better safety features than what was in my 2010 Chrysler 300. Overall, I love my new 300s!!!

  2. Milo Harris 2024-10-20

It's a full-size sedan with nice, comfy heated seats and a smooth ride. The large trunk space, lit cup holders, uconnect, auto high beams, apple car play, push start, and small knob gear shifter make it a really nice vehicle if you're looking for something that can comfortably hold 5 people. And did I forget to mention how fast it is? Well, it's fast for a V6!

  3. Fritz Hayes 2024-10-12

It’s a great car and very stable. UPDATE: The car has great performance and is fun to drive. The only minor caveat is that my car radio shuts off occasionally for no reason.

  4. Nat Yundt 2024-09-11

This is a fantastic car! I drive 60 miles or more a day, 5/6 days a week, and it's always a smooth ride with great tunes and excellent climate control (it can even freeze you out!). While you may not win any street races, you'll definitely look good. These cars are no slouches, and you'll have no problem passing others on the open road while getting 25+ miles per gallon. I've put 20k miles on my car so far, and it hasn't failed me once. I highly recommend it!

  5. Raleigh Morissette 2024-08-26

Hey guys, I'm here with a real-world review. I used to own a Chrysler 300C back in 2005, so I have a good basis for comparison with the new model. First off, I have to say that I'm really impressed with the styling of the car. I was drawn to this design back in 2005 and I still love it today. The paint and sheet metal are flawless, and Chrysler did an amazing job with the overall look of the car. The only downside for me is the exit/entry, which can be a bit of a challenge due to my bad hip and extra 'width' these days. However, the interior of the 300 is a huge improvement over the older version. The fit and finish are much better, the materials are higher quality, and the layout is more user-friendly. As for the driving experience, I have to say that I'm really impressed with the steering. The steering on my first 300 was vague and unresponsive, but the new one is spot on. The electric power steering is a great feature, and I love that the response is adjustable. The Pentastar engine is also a huge breakthrough for Chrysler. It's one of the quietest engines I've ever owned, and the transmission is the best automatic transmission I've ever had. While the sound of the Pentastar V6 isn't as impressive as the Hemi V8 in my old 05 300C, the acceleration, smoothness, and overall performance are all there. Overall, I'm really happy with my new 300 and would highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a new car. It's great to hear that you're enjoying your 300! The V6 engine with the ZF transmission sounds like a winning combination, and it's impressive that you're getting 30 miles to the gallon. It's always exciting to learn new things, and it's great to hear that this vehicle has exceeded your expectations. While everyone has their own preferences when it comes to styling, it's clear that the 300 offers a comfortable and drama-free driving experience with great fuel mileage and amenities. With years of experience and millions of vehicles produced, Chrysler has had plenty of time to perfect any issues with this platform. I highly recommend taking one for a test drive - you just might fall in love with it!
