2017 Chrysler 300 problems
The Chrysler 300 is a full-size car manufactured and marketed by Stellantis North America and its predecessor companies as a four-door sedan and station wagon in its first generation (model years 2005–2010) and solely as a four-door sedan in its second generation (model years 2011–2023).
The second generation 300 was marketed as the Chrysler 300C in the United Kingdom and Ireland and as the Lancia Thema in the remainder of Europe.
Background
The Chrysler 300 continues a tradition of large front engine, rear-wheel drive V8-powered luxury sedans the company has offered, starting in the 1940s with the Chrysler Saratoga and Chrysler New Yorker, followed by the Chrysler Windsor, Chrysler Newport and the Chrysler Cordoba, with the last rear wheel drive sedan, the Chrysler Fifth Avenue that ended production in 1989.
When the company began operations in 1925, the Chrysler Six was entered as a roadster in the 1925 24 Hours of Le Mans where it finished the race, and in 1926, the Chrysler Imperial started the tradition of luxury and performance products. Starting in 1955, the Imperial became its own luxury brand and offered the Imperial Newport along with the Imperial Crown. The original Chrysler FirePower Hemi engine powered the Cunningham C-5R, a special racecar, and finished the 1952 Le Mans, 1953 Le Mans, and 1954 Le Mans endurance races, as well as the 1953 12 Hours of Sebring.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-07-01
- VIN: 2C3CCAKG6HH
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: The uconnect 8.4 radio navigation can't find a satellite to operate properly. Also the screen is delaminating and making it so selected buttons don't work. Since this is an information and entertainment system that controls everything, including radio, navigation, and hand-free phoning, temperature of the seating, it causes a huge distraction while driving. And the gps not working causes location problems. I believe this also is how the company can find the vehicle if lost. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they can do an update but also state that the this could cause the entire system might not work at all afterwards. Not guarantee that this won't cause more harm than good. As many of these systems that have this problem, there should be a recall to fix this.

My heat control settings do what they want. My backup camera sometimes stays on. The whole system sometimes shuts down than comes back on. The back up camera issue started about a year ago and is sporadic. The radio/navigation/heating issues just started about a month ago. This too is sporadic. I never know when it is going to happen. It is extremely distracting!!!! I can take the vehicle to the local dealer for inspection upon request. I will actually need to call to get this fixed, but I am hoping to receive a recall as I have read that there is/was a class action lawsuit for UConnect problems. Even after I turned off the car and turned it back on it kept clicking on the icons. And then today it kept switching the radio stations as well as switching from FM to SIRRUS radio. - Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING
- Summary: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. - Consequence: If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

I have owned three 300s - a 2097, a 2015, and now a 2017C Platinum! This is definitely my best one yet! Unfortunately, I wrecked my 2015 300s after only a few months. I was originally looking for another S, but this C model has a Gloss Black exterior with a cream interior which looks rare and stunning! When I saw it, I was hooked! With only 40k miles, AWD, and a smooth ride, this car is perfect for me. The 3.6L engine provides nice pick up (although I plan to add a cool air intake system). As someone who is 6'5 and 290 pounds, I really appreciate the roominess of this car. The sunroof and heated/cooled seats are also a great touch! I have read about the poor 'view' through the back window, but I personally have no issues with it. Maybe I'm just used to it after owning three already...

Our car is not just any car, it's a forever car. With its classic style and exceptional handling, we have made several performance modifications to make it truly our own. This car is a keeper, and we are not afraid to make it even better with more modifications to come. Although we love our car, we do wish that we had more control over the parking mechanism. Recently, we decided to update and buy a new car, but we will always cherish the memories and experiences we had with our Chrysler.

The 5.7 Hemi V8 is the perfect choice for the 4400 pound 300S, although the standard 6 cylinder is suitable for most people. Despite the thumping sounds from the suspension over irregular pavement, which I had inspected, the car is still a great choice. If I had to choose again, I would opt for the 300C due to its less tight suspension. The rotating gear selector is not as intuitive as a regular shifter, and I would prefer if Chrysler went back to a real shifter lever.
-
The vehicle performs exceptionally well, despite the need for lifter and thermostat replacements at 80,000 miles. It continues to run with great strength and reliability.

Great car, awesome sales deal

I recently acquired a 2016 model with less miles on it, which is great news. While I absolutely adored my previous 2013 300C Luxury black on black sedan, I must admit that I am not quite as enamoured with the 2016 model. Unfortunately, the dealership did not honour the price they had advertised online, which resulted in an overcharge of over a thousand dollars. Despite this, I am trying my best to appreciate the 2016 model, and I am grateful to have a reliable vehicle.

I had the air conditioning replaced during the first year of owning the car. Unfortunately, I have had some issues with the a/c since then, as well as problems with the back-up camera and key fobs. The mechanics were unable to determine the cause of these issues. Currently, the a/c is blowing hot air on the passenger side and cool air on the driver's side. As a four-year-old car, I have had some trouble with it. I gave up my 12-year-old Taurus for this car, and some days I regret it. I didn't have as many issues with my old car as I have had with the Chrysler. It's disappointing, to say the least.
Carmine Gottlieb 2024-07-09
It's a very comfortable car, although the quality control could be improved. Unfortunately, I've had a few trim pieces fail at 50,000 miles and several wiring harnesses were not plugged in at the factory. The U-connect system is slow and pairing takes minutes instead of seconds. On the bright side, it has decent power for a big car and the engine is actually pretty good if you take care of it. The doors open wide enough for me to get my mother-in-law in from a wheelchair, which was a big plus since other cars we looked at didn't have doors that opened far enough. It's worth noting that maintenance is higher than older cars due to the modern engine design, but that's true for almost all new cars. Overall, I've had mine for 3 years now and still like it, despite the quality control issues.

I have owned several Chryslers in the past, however, my experience with the 2017 model has been disappointing. Despite having had it serviced, I have encountered persistent issues with the transmission, radio, and GPS. I am currently in the process of bringing it back for further attention. It is important that manufacturers thoroughly field test their products before releasing them to the market.

This car has experienced multiple issues, including chipping and peeling paint within the first month of ownership, a navigation radio that has been replaced three times and still freezes, and a gas tank leak that has recurred after being fixed once. Additionally, the door panels are coming apart at the top and the inside door handle on the passenger side has broken. It is concerning that replacement door panels are not available, and I have been waiting for a resolution from Chrysler for four months.
