Background
The Chrysler 300 continues a tradition of large front engine, rear-wheel drive V8-powered luxury sedans the company has offered, starting in the 1940s with the Chrysler Saratoga and Chrysler New Yorker, followed by the Chrysler Windsor, Chrysler Newport and the Chrysler Cordoba, with the last rear wheel drive sedan, the Chrysler Fifth Avenue that ended production in 1989.
When the company began operations in 1925, the Chrysler Six was entered as a roadster in the 1925 24 Hours of Le Mans where it finished the race, and in 1926, the Chrysler Imperial started the tradition of luxury and performance products. Starting in 1955, the Imperial became its own luxury brand and offered the Imperial Newport along with the Imperial Crown. The original Chrysler FirePower Hemi engine powered the Cunningham C-5R, a special racecar, and finished the 1952 Le Mans, 1953 Le Mans, and 1954 Le Mans endurance races, as well as the 1953 12 Hours of Sebring.

- Summary: This will be my 3rd time having this [XXX] Plastic oil filter/cooler housing replaced and this will be 2nd time having done less than a 2yr time-frame... But this time; after getting the oil changed at Walmart today, my car was about to catch on fire from majority of the oil was running done on the passenger side of the car where the transmission sits and burning off of the Hot [XXX] Catalytic Converter! It's [XXX] shame that Chrysler/Mopar had more than enough complaints about this well known Catastrophic Issue and won't take any Accountability for it... That's why Dorman [XXX] and a few more companies had at least stepped up to the plate and created an better version, of the oil filter cooler housing. Not only is it better but is also all aluminum and doesn't warp or become brittle under extreme conditions from atmospheric temperatures nor engine heat! [XXX] which eventually manifest as severe oil and coolant leaks. The number of complaints regarding the Pentastar V6 oil filter housing and cooler assembly is staggering. See them here, at [XXX] . There have been so many complaints – with the OE replacements even, that Chrysler has discontinued the manufacturing of the Pentastar oil filter housing and cooler assembly. Even more surprising is that Chrysler has known about this problem for a long time and has never issued a recall. Then my check engine light came on and I pulled off and turned the car off and back on. It drove fine but when I went to have it checked they said it threw a code for my TCM. My coworker also drives a Chrysler 300 and had the same issue in the same week! He never got his checked out but his car stopped accelerating and then started again while on cruise. This is happening to a lot of Chryslers so I looked up recalls and it looks like the TCM was recalled in the 2016 300’s but my 2015 and his 2015 is having the same issues

- Summary: The contact owned a 2015 Chrysler 300. The contact stated that upon pulling out of the driveway and driving downhill, the engine shut off inadvertently, and the vehicle accelerated unintendedly. The brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond, causing the vehicle to crash into a tree. There was no warning light illuminated. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained a bump and soreness on the left knee, and soreness in the neck. The contact received chiropractic assistance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was a towed to a tow yard, where it was totaled. The local dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer. - Summary: 1. Rear differential failed before 100,000 miles. I was driving and I heard something metal fall in the back of the car. I pressed gas but was not able to move. After inspection and call for help, the part that fell on the ground was the rear differential. How can it just fall out while driving? I had to get it towed and repaired by a mobile mechanic. 2. The sunroof switch is faulty. Several times it has gotten stuck and won’t close. If it starts to rain, I have to pull over on the highway, cut the car off and on a few times and press the button until it closes. The sunroof will move forward like it’s going to close but doesn’t; it moves back and forth like it’s stuck on something. 3. The shifter is incredibly rough and hard. It sounds like something falling out of the car every time I shift from park to reverse and back to park. Very loud and the entire car jerks when shifting. There was a previous recall but the problem still persists. I’m afraid something else will fall out while driving.

- Summary: The drive shaft broke and had to be replaced. This resulted in lack of stability prior to the break and mobility was comprimised after it broke. The car was repaired at Wayne's Precision and Transmission auto repair in Bumpass, Virginia on November 4th, 2022. The state of Virginia requires annual car inspections which we will have due next June. Symptoms prior to replacement of the drive shaft included clunking/knocking noises from underneath the car when the car was in motion. Modest noises first occured in August, three months prior to replacement, and proressively got worse until replacement was necessary.

- Summary: The center console and both front door panels need to be replaced as the panel is pulling away from the doors and the console. Research shows that when the panels on the door requires repair, this could render side front air bags ineffective and the car can easily lose heat and allow cold air inside. Similarly, with the center console, this could cause the p/n/r/d gears to malfunction. I did contact Chrysler (case# 80922998) as was advised that my claim was declined because the 2-year warranty had been exceeded. My car is a 2015 Chrysler 300. The issue did not start until 2020. Research also revealed that many of the Chrysler 300s are experiencing this issue. Also, I did have the dealer to take a look at the panels when I went to have my car serviced on 10/27/2021 and was advised to submit a claim with Chrysler. Finally, please note that my car is a 2015 with only 19,609 miles as of 10/27/2021.

The PCMs are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.

I purchased this car after my 2015 Dodge Durango Limited was totaled by a drunk driver. My top priority was to feel safe in a vehicle again. The Durango saved my life, my husband's life, my 1-month-old son's life, my toddler's life, and my best friend's life. I really wanted another Durango, but at the time, they were still new, so there were no used ones available, and I did not have the same amount of money to put down as before. So, I had no choice but to take a higher payment or get a cheaper car. That's why I chose to buy the 2015 Chrysler 300s -V6. Let me tell you, this car is unlike any other sedan out there! I have driven Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Chevy, BMW, and Mercedes, but this car is by far the most comfortable and smooth. Although I miss my Durango every day, especially because we have 2 kids, 2 dogs, and the 2 of us, we manage to squeeze all of us and the dogs in our 300. I have contemplated many times over the 10 months that I have had this car on trading it in for a used SUV, but the amount of money I paid, my car payment, and the luxury this car has does not compare to the cars I would qualify for. I AM NEVER TRADING THIS IN! I get pretty good MPG, although my Altima got almost 10 more MPG in City and Highway. I do wish the backseats had a better AC vent system. They are behind the center console, so when it's 110 degrees outside, it takes a minute for the back to get cooled down, and when someone is sitting in the middle, their knees will freeze off before either side will feel air. This car rides like a cloud, the stock speakers are better than regular (Beats Audio), I have tinted windows, and I get so many compliments on my car. I highly recommend this car to anyone! I have the V6, and in sport mode, I have raced a street bike, a Lexus sports car, and a couple of others. It has speed, comfort, luxury, and it is one heavy vehicle!I love feeling safe and confident driving this car! The remote start and trunk lift are amazing features that make my life easier. While there was a minor issue with the trunk not closing when opened from the inside, it was quickly resolved and I haven't had any problems since. Keep in mind that this car may not be the best fit for those needing extra space or with three car seats, as the backseat is a bit narrow. Overall, I would rate this car a 5 out of 5!

Although disappointed that the vehicle did not come with a CD player, I was able to find a solution for the rear seat belt issue. Despite the dealer not having an extension available, I purchased one from the aftermarket. Overall, everything else about the car is great! I understand that washing a black car requires more maintenance, but I am willing to do what it takes to keep it looking good.

The Chrysler 300 model was originally introduced in the 1950s as a large luxury performance model. I actually owned a 1967 300 myself! Although the 300c Platinum did not have an entry for a V8 option, mine has this option and I have not regretted it. The strong acceleration and effortless highway cruising make for a great driving experience. While I did give up approximately 2 mpg for this option, it was definitely worth it. The ride is very smooth and the handling is precise and secure, despite the car's weight of over 4,000 pounds and size. This car is perfect for cruising down the boulevard and is very easy to drive, especially with the safety tech features. The front/rear/blind spot sensors compensate well for the somewhat modest visibility. The interior is well finished and does a great job of keeping noise levels low. Like many cars nowadays, tire/road noise is slightly noticeable, but it's not a major issue.

If you're considering buying a 300 for its looks, then go ahead. However, if you're looking for a reliable car, you might want to think twice. I purchased my 300 new in 2015, and it currently has 8000 miles on it. Unfortunately, I've had to take it to the shop three times in the past two months. The transmission continues to slip, jerking hard going into second and third gear. The dealership said it needed a software update, but even after two updates, it's still jerking. Then, yesterday, I overfilled my gas tank, and somehow the gas flowed out from under my car. I love my car otherwise, but it's frustrating to spend this amount of money on a new vehicle and have these issues.

Your car has a very stylish design, but I understand that you have been experiencing some issues with the ride quality. It seems like there are some rattles and clunks in the transmission, and the shocks/struts may not be working properly. Additionally, you mentioned that you don't like the fact that the car is stuck in AWD at temperatures below 40 degrees. Let's start with the premium sound system, which is definitely the highlight of the car. The sound quality is great, but unfortunately, there is only one control for it - a dial on the control panel. It would have been great to have steering wheel controls for the volume and tone control somewhere. As for the comfort of the seats, I personally found them a bit uncomfortable for long distance travel. However, on two different 1,000+ mile trips with different passengers, the passenger on the right side experienced the same discomfort - cramping in the thigh/hamstring area and a sore butt. Unfortunately, changing the angle or height of the seat base didn't help. Now, let's talk about the downsides. Every week or two, another little bug seems to rear its ugly and costly head. At roughly 500 miles past warranty, the electronics on this car started to fail. It started with brake sensors - first one, then another, and then another - all 4 had to be changed out one at a time. Then, the air conditioning failed. The Pensacola, FL dealer diagnosed it and said there was a leak in the condenser and needed about $2k in repairs. However, after some diagnosing on my own, it turned out to be a fuse that their service department removed when diagnosing the issue. I would advise avoiding Hill-Kelly Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram like the plague. The next thing that went out was the cruise control, which in all my years of driving [50+] I have never experienced nor heard of. Now, the adaptive is out and I am about done with this lemon. There are so many issues that I can't even remember them all. Needless to say, I won't be owning a Chrysler again.

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my Chrysler 300 S that I purchased new in 2015. I was really excited about all the great options it came with, like the Light Group (Bi-xenon lights) and Panaromic roof, blind spot & parking sensors, and Beats by Dre Speakers. Overall, I've found that the Chrysler performs really well in terms of engine acceleration, ride, and comfort. However, I did have some issues with the electrical system, which was a bit frustrating. The heater went out and I had to take it to the dealership to get it replaced. Later on, the air conditioner went out, and then the control panel for the air conditioner went out as well. Each time, my car was in the shop for about a week. Luckily, all of these issues were covered under the 3 year 36,000 warranty. I did end up buying an extended warranty, but unfortunately, I had an issue with one of my Bi-xenon headlights that wasn't covered. The ballast went bad and I had to replace the whole Headlight Assembly, which cost me $1100. While I love the performance, looks, and stereo of my Chrysler, I have to admit that the reliability has been a bit of a concern for me. I'm hesitant to buy American cars, especially Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo. If I were to get another Chrysler or one of its subsidiaries, I would probably lease the car instead of buying it. Thanks for listening to my experience!
