2016 Chrysler 300 problems
The Chrysler 300 is a full-size car manufactured and marketed by Stellantis North America and its predecessor companies as a four-door sedan and station wagon in its first generation (model years 2005–2010) and solely as a four-door sedan in its second generation (model years 2011–2023).
The second generation 300 was marketed as the Chrysler 300C in the United Kingdom and Ireland and as the Lancia Thema in the remainder of Europe.
Background
The Chrysler 300 continues a tradition of large front engine, rear-wheel drive V8-powered luxury sedans the company has offered, starting in the 1940s with the Chrysler Saratoga and Chrysler New Yorker, followed by the Chrysler Windsor, Chrysler Newport and the Chrysler Cordoba, with the last rear wheel drive sedan, the Chrysler Fifth Avenue that ended production in 1989.
When the company began operations in 1925, the Chrysler Six was entered as a roadster in the 1925 24 Hours of Le Mans where it finished the race, and in 1926, the Chrysler Imperial started the tradition of luxury and performance products. Starting in 1955, the Imperial became its own luxury brand and offered the Imperial Newport along with the Imperial Crown. The original Chrysler FirePower Hemi engine powered the Cunningham C-5R, a special racecar, and finished the 1952 Le Mans, 1953 Le Mans, and 1954 Le Mans endurance races, as well as the 1953 12 Hours of Sebring.

Based on complaints from owners of the Chrysler 300 2016, several common problems have been reported:
- Airbag Problems: Recalls were made for various 2005-2010 Chrysler models due to airbag issues where the airbags could rupture easily during a crash, leading to severe injuries. Dealers replaced the faulty parts free of charge to resolve this safety concern.
- Musty Smell from HVAC System: Some Chrysler 300 units from specific model years may develop a musty odor from the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system. This issue can be resolved by applying a cleaner or disinfectant to inhibit bacterial growth, with Dodge offering a coating for the evaporator to address the problem.
- Rough Shifting: Owners of 2004-2016 Chrysler 300 models have reported rough shifting and shuddering when shifting gears. Software updates on the powertrain control and transmission control module have been suggested as potential solutions to this issue.
- Power Window Malfunction: Power windows in 2004-2015 Chrysler 300 model years may experience issues due to a broken motor or worn-out window regulator cable. This problem can affect the proper functioning of the power windows and may require repairs or replacements to resolve.

STEERING,POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2024-03-04
- VIN: 2C3CCAKG1GH
- Components: STEERING,POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: Have been having power steering problems over the past few years. Started by displaying a shift to park message while driving, my car would then lose power and shut down completely and power steering would lock up. Have taken to dealerships and independent mechanics and was told it was the wiring harness which they repaired several times and the car continued to have the issue. Approximately 3 months ago I was driving 55mph on highway when suddenly without any warning, the power steering failed and locked up making it very difficult to turn the wheel to get the vehicle off the highway safely. The power steering locking up put myself, my passengers and other drivers at risk bc I had no control over the steering. When I got the vehicle off of the highway a message repeatedly coming on and off saying “service power steering “ and another message saying power steering assist off service system. I was able to get the vehicle home, however the steering was extremely difficult especially in turns which is a major safety concern increasing a risk of an accident. I have done a lot of research about this issue and have found that there are numerous others with the same issue and same make/model as my 2016 Chrysler 300 C. I took the vehicle to another independent mechanic and they told me they couldn’t figure out what is wrong with it. I made another appointment with another mechanic and when I attempted to drive it “manually” as I had to do when it initially started doing this, the electric power steering has now completely locked up and the wheel is not functional at all and power steering has completely failed. This is not only a huge inconvenience but a serious safety hazard and should be investigated by the manufacturer.

- Summary: Main Fuel Pump and accompanied electrical connect. The fuel pump and electrical wiring harness is available upon request. My safety was at risk due to a faulty electrical connection inside the fuel tank. My vehicle made a loud hmming sound at a stop sign, upon continuing forward the vehicle shut off randomly. Upon inspection, the fuel was not sending to the engine. We bought a new fuel pump and replaced at the side of the road. When inspecting the OEM fuel pump and accompanied electrical connection, we noticed over heated wiring and melts plastic inside the fuel tank on the underside of the fuel pump, as well as burnt connections on the outside of the fuel tank on the tip side of the fuel pump. We have pictures to support. No warning signs, signals, or lights were present at the time of failure. When purchasing new fuel pump, there were no instructions for replacement of electrical connections. The only indication we found as to what was happening was through public forums online, showing the electrical wiring was faulty and needed replacing with the alternative wiring harness due to wiring (hot wire, b+) being located too close to the grounding wiring causing it to burn amd/or arch creating a problem with which could cause fire and explosion. No information was readily available nor have we received any information on potential catastrophic injury or failure.

Although there have been a few small recalls, it's good to hear that the car rides and handles well, and that you're getting exceptional gas mileage. Thank you for sharing your recommendation!

Although disappointed that the vehicle did not come with a CD player, I was able to find a solution for the rear seat belt issue. Despite the dealer not having an extension available, I purchased one from the aftermarket. Overall, everything else about the car is great! I understand that washing a black car requires more maintenance, but I am willing to do what it takes to keep it looking good.
-
Congratulations on your new car! It sounds like you got an amazing deal on a fantastic vehicle. Your enthusiasm for the car is contagious and it's great to hear that you're enjoying all of its features. It's impressive that the car handles so well despite its weight and that you were able to achieve such great gas mileage on your trip. I hope that your car continues to perform well for you for many years to come!

The suspension is sporty, so it's important to note that the ride may not be as smooth. During the first 30k miles, there were a few repairs needed, including the driver side strut, back up camera, and addressing 2 recall issues. The OEM tires lasted 22k miles, and the brakes will need replacing at 35k. Additionally, there is a small rattle coming from the dash.

I recently bought a car from WYN and BEN at Earnhardt Auto Center in Gilbert AZ, just a week ago. I upgraded from a 200 to a 300 and I have no regrets! I loved my 200 and I absolutely love this 300! The car is fantastic and the buying experience was exceptional!

Your car has a very stylish design, but I understand that you have been experiencing some issues with the ride quality. It seems like there are some rattles and clunks in the transmission, and the shocks/struts may not be working properly. Additionally, you mentioned that you don't like the fact that the car is stuck in AWD at temperatures below 40 degrees. Perhaps it would be helpful to have a manual switch instead, so that you can control when you need AWD. Thank you for sharing your feedback!

If you're considering buying a 300 for its looks, then go ahead. However, if you're looking for a reliable car, you might want to think twice. I purchased my 300 new in 2015, and it currently has 8000 miles on it. Unfortunately, I've had to take it to the shop three times in the past two months. The transmission continues to slip, jerking hard going into second and third gear. The dealership said it needed a software update, but even after two updates, it's still jerking. Then, yesterday, I overfilled my gas tank, and somehow the gas flowed out from under my car. I love my car otherwise, but it's frustrating to spend this amount of money on a new vehicle and have these issues.

Let's start with the premium sound system, which is definitely the highlight of the car. The sound quality is great, but unfortunately, there is only one control for it - a dial on the control panel. It would have been great to have steering wheel controls for the volume and tone control somewhere. As for the comfort of the seats, I personally found them a bit uncomfortable for long distance travel. However, on two different 1,000+ mile trips with different passengers, the passenger on the right side experienced the same discomfort - cramping in the thigh/hamstring area and a sore butt. Unfortunately, changing the angle or height of the seat base didn't help. Now, let's talk about the downsides. Every week or two, another little bug seems to rear its ugly and costly head. At roughly 500 miles past warranty, the electronics on this car started to fail. It started with brake sensors - first one, then another, and then another - all 4 had to be changed out one at a time. Then, the air conditioning failed. The Pensacola, FL dealer diagnosed it and said there was a leak in the condenser and needed about $2k in repairs. However, after some diagnosing on my own, it turned out to be a fuse that their service department removed when diagnosing the issue. I would advise avoiding Hill-Kelly Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram like the plague. The next thing that went out was the cruise control, which in all my years of driving [50+] I have never experienced nor heard of. Now, the adaptive is out and I am about done with this lemon. There are so many issues that I can't even remember them all. Needless to say, I won't be owning a Chrysler again.

It's a very comfortable car, although the quality control could be improved. Unfortunately, I've had a few trim pieces fail at 50,000 miles and several wiring harnesses were not plugged in at the factory. The U-connect system can be slow and pairing takes minutes instead of seconds. On the bright side, it has decent power for a big car and the engine is actually pretty good if you take care of it. The doors open wide enough for me to get my mother-in-law in from a wheelchair, which was a big plus as other cars we looked at didn't have doors that opened far enough. It's worth noting that maintenance is higher than older cars due to the modern engine design, but this is true for almost all new cars. Overall, I've had mine for 3 years now and still like it, despite the quality control issues.

I bought a brand new 2015 300c 5.7l v8 hemi, and while the seat comfort is excellent, I did experience some issues. Unfortunately, the driver side seat ventilator motor gave out on its first use, and the 20
