First incident I was driving my children home from the hairdresser and the car completely went out us on the highway, after repeated attempts for a half hour or so I was able to start it and drive it back home very slowly..this happened twice I went to get it diagnosed and codes came up for crank shaft sensor and o2 sensor, before I could even get that fixed more problems came up, the steering wheel began to become stiff and almost impossible to turn, while picking my son up from school I was trying to pull away from the curb in the drop off spot and almost hit another car and a child because the steering wheel stiffened up on me!!! I was told I would need an entire steering rack!!! ...also the key has gotten stuck in the ignition and wouldn't start and I had to have it towed to a mechanic for that as well. Driving up hill one day I lost power that made it seem like it was stuck in low, then we lost reverse altogether as well as the ability to climb hills. I got the transmission repaired, barely made it home before it started doing the exact same thing, no reverse and won't go up hills, so I had to get it towed back to the shop to fix it once again, now I find out that the computer went bad as well and was causing the car to perform in neutral. This car has given me nothing but problems since I bought it! It is very dangerous to be on the road! I don't understand how they're even still in circulation!! This is by far the worst experience I've ever had with a vehicle! Upon doing research online I seen that there were HUNDREDS of people with these cars experiencing the same problems. Something has to be done!! I had the car almost a year and only got about a week's worth of use!!

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 8 recalls for different components of the 2009 Chevrolet Traverse.

- Components: STRUCTURE:BODY:HATCHBACK/LIFTGATE
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2008-2012 Buick Enclave vehicles manufactured January 3, 2007, to February 29, 2012, 2009-2012 Chevrolet Traverse vehicles manufactured July 6, 2008, to March 9, 2012, 2007-2012 GMC Acadia vehicles manufactured September 15, 2006, to February 29, 2012, and 2007-2010 Saturn Outlook vehicles manufactured August 17, 2006, to March 18, 2010. The affected vehicles, equipped with the power liftgate option, have gas struts that hold the power liftgate up when open. These struts may prematurely wear and the open liftgate may suddenly fall.
- Consequence: If the open liftgate unexpectedly falls, it may strike a person, increasing their risk of injury.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the software for the power liftgate actuator motor control unit so that the motor will prevent the rapid closing of the lift gate, free of charge. The recall began on November 15, 2016. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782, and Saturn customer service at 1-800-553-6000. - Summary: General Motors is recalling certain model year 2009-2014 Buick Enclave vehicles manufactured April 14, 2008, through May 14, 2014, Chevrolet Traverse vehicles manufactured June 6, 2008, through May 14, 2014, and GMC Acadia vehicles manufactured April 9, 2008, through May 14, 2014, and 2009-2010 Saturn Outlook vehicles manufactured April 14, 2008, through March 18, 2010. In the affected vehicles, the flexible steel cable that connects the seatbelt to the front outboard seating positions may fatigue and separate over time.
- Consequence: If the steel cable becomes fatigued and separates, the seatbelt may not properly restrain the seat occupant increasing the risk of an injury in a crash.
- Remedy: General Motors will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and, if necessary, repair and replace the lap pretensioner, free of charge. Parts are not currently available. An interim notice will be mailed to owners in July 2014. A second notice will be mailed to owners once parts become available. The recall for the 2009-2010 model years began on July 11, 2014. The interim letter for the 2011-2014 model years were distributed on July 11, 2014. In the affected vehicles, increased resistance in the driver and passenger seat mounted side impact air bag (SIAB) wiring harnesses may result in the SIAB and seat belt pretensioners not deploying in the event of a crash.
- Consequence: Failure of the side impact air bags and seat belt pretensioners to deploy in a crash increase the risk of injury to the driver and front seat occupant.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected harness connections with soldered connections, free of charge. The recall began on June 16, 2014. Buick owners may contact the owner center at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet owners at 1-866-694-6546, Saturn at 1-800-553-6000, and GMC owners at 1-866-996-9463. GM's number for this recall is 14030. I purchased this car in 2011 as a 2009 model. Despite the higher mileage for the year, it has been a terrific car that has met all of my driving needs. Since 2011, I have only had to make one minor repair, which was to fix the actuator that controls the hot and cold air. I have not had to jump it, tow it, or fix it in any way. I am absolutely thrilled with this car and wouldn't think twice about buying another one when the time comes.

I grew up with Chevy's and for various reasons, I lost interest in them in the late Seventies. However, GM has finally produced some excellent vehicles that can compete with and even surpass Japanese vehicles in many ways. The Traverse is one such vehicle. It offers a smooth and quiet ride, agile handling, and a variety of options to choose from. Although it may not have a fuel economy of over 30 mpg, it is a great choice for larger individuals like myself. It outperforms the Honda Pilot, and anyone looking for a spacious SUV/CUV should definitely take it for a test drive! Additionally, it boasts some impressive safety ratings, and the AWD is particularly useful in winter conditions. Give it a try, and I'm sure you'll love it!

The Chevy Traverse has recently outperformed Toyota and Honda in the market. I had previously test driven the Pilot and Sequoia, but unfortunately, they did not meet my expectations. However, a friend recommended the Traverse and I was pleasantly surprised. The interior is stunning and the design and suspension are both elegant. Although the transmission can be a bit hesitant on the downshift, overall it is a great car. The Traverse has a beautiful design and is highly functional, with ample cargo space. If you have the opportunity to buy American, the Traverse is definitely worth considering.

The vehicle has many great features, but as a concerned driver, safety and reliability are my top priorities. I was surprised to find out that my new Traverse, which is not a cheap vehicle, does not come with a spare tire or even a place to attach one. While OnStar can provide assistance in case of a flat tire, it is not helpful if there is no tire to replace. This leaves the occupants of the 7-passenger vehicle stranded, especially in rural areas where taxis are not readily available. It is disappointing that GM would produce a vehicle without basic safety items such as a spare tire, especially considering the price. Families and moms should be aware of the potential danger of being stranded without a spare tire.

I purchased my car brand new in 2009, but unfortunately, I have experienced several issues with it since then. The air conditioning knob has been a persistent problem, and despite numerous attempts to fix it, the issue persists. On a family trip shortly after purchasing the car, we experienced a major setback when the water pump failed, leaving us stranded in hot weather with no cell phone service. Additionally, the car struggles to stop on small hills without rolling back, and currently, I am dealing with a transmission issue that causes the car to shut down on the freeway. It's frustrating, to say the least. I would not recommend this car to anyone looking to make a wise investment with their hard-earned money.

I have visited the dealership 13 times in the past 2 months due to issues with the engine and power steering. Unfortunately, this has made me very unhappy with the car and I no longer feel comfortable driving my family of six in it. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone. This SUV is great looking and has all wheel drive, which provides safety and control during inclement weather. However, there was an issue with the transmission not engaging sometimes, which could be concerning when trying to merge onto a highway. Despite taking it to the dealer multiple times, the few seconds of slip didn't meet their threshold for warranty repair. However, they did extend the warranty on the drive train due to transmission issues. This could leave you feeling a bit uneasy each time you take a trip, but other than the transmission issue, the rest of the car is pretty decent.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience driving the traverse from NY to Florida with my family for a Disney trip. Unfortunately, I found the headrest to be uncomfortable as it was bent forward and the only way to adjust it was by reclining the seat. As a result, I experienced some back pain during and after the trip. Additionally, we noticed that the gas mileage was not as advertised by the dealer, as we only averaged 12.5 mpg in the city and 16.7 mpg on the highway during our 2400-mile round trip. Despite these issues, we still had a great time at Disney! Have you had any similar experiences with GM or Ford cars?
