Seems like a grounding issue? Car failed to start August 2021 due to electrical problems. 3rd party mechanic fixed the issue. Toyota Dealer-installed automatic start fails multiple times before starting car. Basic electrical mechanisms for a car made in 2015 should not be broken/failing. 2019 Air Conditioner wouldn't drain. Had to investigate and personally drain the tubes behind the passenger and driver side-pannels behind center counsel. The entire draining system for the cars air conditioner had clogged. 2015 Exterior Vinyl Pillars on sides of windshield started to fade. Brought it to Westbury Toyota and they said the sun caused it. THERE IS ALSO A CLICK NOISE WHEN THE DOWNSHIFT HAPPENS. TOOK IT TO TOYOTA AND HAD A TRANSMISSION DRAIN AND FILL, WHICH THEY SAID THE FLUID WAS AS CLEAN AND THE COMPUTER HAS NO STORE CODES. THE RESET THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE AND THE ISSUE HAS RETURNED, IT SHOULDN'T HAVE THESE ISSUES AT 19K MILES! ALSO THE TRANSMISSION HESITATES GOING INTO TRAFFIC, WHICH CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE IT DOESN'T KNOW WHAT GEAR TO BE IN. I WISH TOYOTA WOULD READ THE OTHER PEOPLE'S COMMENTS WHO HAD THE SAME ISSUES WITH THIS U760E TRANSMISSION. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED. I'M WORRIED FOR THE LONGEVITY AND I FEEL I WASTED MONEY TRYING TO DO A TRANSMISSION SERVICE WHICH WAS SUGGESTED BY TOYOTA AND THAT DIDN'T FIX A THING.

IT'S SCARY TO DRIVE IN TRAFFIC, AND ONLY HAVE 33K MILES. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS CHANGE BY TOYOTA LAST YEAR WITH THE WS AND IT HAS NOT FIXED THIS ISSUE. I'M WORRIED THE CAR MAY STALL IN STOP AND GO OR LURCH SO HARD FIRM THE 2-1 DOWNSHIFT THAT I MIGHT HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.

THE SCION FRS HAS THE SAME ISSUES AND TOYOTA ISSUES A TSB FOR SHIFT ENHANCEMENT THAT FIXED THEIR TRANSMISSION ROUGH SHIFTS AND ROUGH IDLE. I'M HOPING THAT SCION OR TOYOTA ARE LISTENING AND WE NEED THIS FIX TOO! RESETTING THE COMPUTERS BY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY FIXES THE ISSUE TEMPORARILY, SINCE THIS IS A 'LEARNING' TRANSMISSION, IT ALWAYS SEEMS TO DEFAULT AND STARTS TO SHIFT ROUGH, SHIFT TOO OFTEN OR BACK TO BACK EVEN IN CITY DRIVING. IT'S GEAR HUNTING AND I'M SO SICK OF IT. TOYOTA SAID THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, I DID A TRANSMISSION DRAIN AND FILL WITH TOYOTA THINKING IT WOULD FIX THE ISSUE AND IT NEVER DID. IT'S THE ECU OR TCM, WE NEED THE UPDATE JUST LIKE YOU GUYS DID FOR THE FRS AND YOU FIXED THOSE ISSUES! SO PLEASE FIX OURS! THESE ROUGH SHIFTS ARE ANNOYING. I ONLY HAVE 25K MILES ON MY TC SO IT CAN'T BE THE TRANSMISSION, IT'S THE COMPUTERS, PLEASE SEND OUT A NEW FIRMWARE TO FIX THIS! *TR

- Summary: WHEN PARKED IN NEUTRAL WITH THE CLUTCH PEDAL NOT DEPRESSED WHILE RUNNING MY CARS TRANSMISSION MAKES A WHINING NOISE AND ONLY GOES AWAY WHEN YOU DEPRESS THE CLUTCH PEDAL TO ENGAGE THE CLUTCH. ONCE YOU RELEASE THE CLUTCH IT CONTINUES MAKING THE NOISE. HOT AND COLD TEMPERATURES DOESN'T MAKE A DIFFERENCE. THE DEALERSHIP THINKS IT'S THE BEARING IN THE TRANSMISSION BUT NOT 100% SURE UNTIL I PAY THEM TO OPEN TRANSMISSION. TOYOTA HAS A HISTORY OF BEARINGS GOING BAD IN THE TC TRANSMISSIONS AND WILL NOT DO ANYTHING AND REQUESTS YOU TO BUY A NEW TRANSMISSION.

VISIBILITY/WIPER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2018-10-16
- VIN: JTKJF5C71F3
- Components: VISIBILITY/WIPER
- Summary: ABOUT 5:15 PM, DRIVING WESTBOUND IN THE SUN, ON A CLEAR DAY, IN THE FAR LEFT LANE OF A 4 LANE FREEWAY GOING ABOUT 65-70 MPH, APPROACHING A SOUTHBOUND RAMP. THERE WERE 3 VEHICLES, A MINI COOPER IN FRONT AND RIGHT AND A TRUCK BEHIND, ALL 3 CARS ARE AT LEAST 3-4 CAR LENGTHS AWAY IN NO TRAFFIC. BOTH WINDOWS ABOUT HALFWAY DOWN, LISTENING TO MUSIC, NOT BLARING, WHEN I SUDDENLY HEAR AN INCREDIBLY LOUD POP. I THINK MY TIRE BLEW OUT, BUT NO CHANGE IN MANEUVERABILITY OR LIGHTS BLINKING ON THE DASH. I LOOK IN FRONT AND TO THE COOPER TO THE RIGHT AND THERE WAS NO CHANGE IN THEIR DRIVING, ALL FLOWING WITH TRAFFIC, BEHIND NO CHANGE AS WELL. ASSUME SOMETHING HIT THE SIDE OF CAR. STILL SHAKEN FROM THE SOUND I CONTINUE COMMUTE NOW GOING SOUTHBOUND, WHEN I HEAR WHAT SOUNDED LIKE DRIVING ON SAND. NOT THAT POSSIBLE ON A FREEWAY WITHOUT ME NOTICING, MY INSTINCT WAS TO PULL BACK SUNROOF SHADE TO FIND THE GLASS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. AND CONTINUED TO LISTEN TO IT SHATTER FOR THE REST OF MY 15 MINUTE COMMUTE HOME. WAS UNABLE TO TAKE STRAIGHT TO DEALERSHIP SINCE THEY WERE ABOUT TO CLOSE AND DROVE IT IN THE NEXT MORNING. 12 HOURS & COUNTING, I WAS TOLD TO PAY $1340 OR LEAVE AND FIND BETTER LUCK ELSEWHERE. IF A ROCK CREATED THIS DAMAGE I WOULD HAVE WENT STRAIGHT TO A JUNKYARD AND GOT IT REPLACED NO PROBLEM. BUT NO ROCK DID THIS DAMAGE. I WAS TOLD BY A MGR. THAT WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN A ROCK CAN COME IN AND HIT IT, WITH THE WIND AND PRESSURE A POP CAN HAPPEN. UNBELIEVABLE. AS OF NOW 10/17, 6 HRS. AFTER TAKING CAR IN, I AM AWAITING A DIST. MGR. TO RESPOND TO AN EMAIL IN HOPES THAT I CAN BE HELPED OUT WITH THIS SITUATION, NOT REPAIRED & REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE ON BEHALF OF THE DEALERSHIP. I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE AN OCCURRENCE THAT I NEED TO WAIT ON A RESPONSE TO AN EMAIL, THIS SHOULD BE HANDLED QUICKLY AND FREE OF STRESS & CHARGE TO CONSUMER WHEN NO OTHER OUTSIDE FORCE CAUSED THE DAMAGE.

I PULLED OVER AND THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE MOON ROOF. NO CAR WAS IN FRONT OF ME BUT IT WAS REALLY COLD COMING UP TO SANTA FE, NM. IT WAS ABOUT 18 DEGREES AND I HAD THE FOOT HEATER ON #3. I BELIEVE IT WAS A COMBINATION OF THE HEAT, ALTITUDE AND THE COLD GLASS THAT MADE MY MOON ROOF EXPLODE. VERY SCARY. DEALER SAID THEY DO NOT COVER WINDOWS!

I HAD NO CARS AROUND ME THAT WERE POSSIBLE FOR THAT TO HAPPEN,AND IF SO WHY WAS THE GLASS SHATTERED FLAT AND NOT UPWARDS LIKE ITS SUPPOSE TO CAUSE IF SOMETHING HIT IT. THE DEALER DID NOT WANT TO HELP ME OUT FURTHER EVEN WITH MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE SAME PERSON HELPING ME OUT MENTIONED THAT THE DEALER RIGHT ACROSS FROM THEM (KIA) HAD JUST CALLED THEM AND MENTIONED THEY HAD A 2015 SCION SAME VEHICLE AS MINE THAT HAD THE SAME ISSUE BUT THIS CAR WAS PARKED THE WHOLE TIME ON THE LOT. THIS IMMEDIATELY MADE ME THINK ITS A CAR FAULT BUT THE GM WOULD NOT HELP ME FURTHER. I HAD TO PAY FOR A RENTAL AND WAIT TILL TOMORROW TO SPEAK TO A PROFESSIONAL ABOUT MY VEHICLE.

- Summary: 2015 SCION TC 6 SPEED MANUAL. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WILL LOCK UP AFTER SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY FOR SEVERAL PLUS DAYS AND I HAVE TO APPLY A LOT OF GAS FOR THE BRAKES TO RELEASE SO I CAN DRIVE THE CAR. AT THE TIME OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE RELEASE THERE WAS SUCH A HUGE BANG THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I THOUGHT I RAN SOMETHING OVER. MY SAFETY CONCERN IS THE FAILURE OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM FROM THE FORCED RELEASE OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN WHEN THE WEATHER IS HOT AND NOT SO MUCH OVER THE WINTER MONTHS. I HAVE MADE A COMPLAINT TO TOYOTA AND OF COURSE IT THEY CAN'T VERIFY MY COMPLAINT. *TR
2015 Scion Tc recalls
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 3 recalls for different components of the 2015 Scion Tc.
- Manufacturer: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing
- Components: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
- Summary: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain Toyota Racing Development (TRD) brake kits, part numbers PTR09-21111 and PTR09-52080, sold by Toyota as an optional accessory for model year 2008-2015 Scion xB, and 2011-2016 Scion tC vehicles. Over time, the brake hoses in these kits may fatigue and fail.
- Consequence: Failure of a brake hose will reduce braking performance and increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Toyota will notify all known owners of the Scion xB and Scion tC vehicles upon which an involved optional TRD Brake Kit could have been installed. If the vehicle is equipped with one of the TRD brake kits, it will be replaced with a standard equipment brake kit, free of charge. The recall began November 16, 2018. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371. Toyota's number for this recall is J0U.

As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims for Passenger Cars."

I purchased my 2014 Six-speed manual model in late spring of the same year. I had three cars in mind: the 2014 Corolla S manual, the Scion FR-S and the tC. My criteria were simple: it had to be a manual and have decent cargo room. During my test drives, I crossed off the Corolla due to its widely spaced gear range and high revving engine. The FR-S had good performance and gear selection, but it wasn't practical for my daily commute and winter driving. The tC, on the other hand, is a hatchback, which I prefer over trunks. While it may not have the performance of an FR-S, the power to weight ratio of the car is very good for its size. The 2.5L engine is the same unit found on the Camry and is known for its reliability. The shift throws and clutch pedal feel great, and it's a comfortable car for long road trips. Gas mileage isn't as good as a Camry due to its gearing, but it hits the target MPG numbers nicely with non-ethanol regular gas and/or premium. In my experience, I have found that short shifting helps to increase MPG in the city. On average, I get around 29.5 to 30 MPG for my mixed road commutes, even with the AC on full blast. The seat comfort is excellent, with Toyota putting in the same amount of padding as the Camrys. What I appreciate most is the ample room to stretch out and adjust my posture during long drives. The FR-S seat, on the other hand, is form-fitting like a fighter cockpit and can only be tolerated for so long. The rear seat comfort is also excellent. As for the factory Pioneer sound system, put it on the The 16 model comes with a smart key featuring push-button start and a rear window wiper, which were first introduced in the 2014 limited production Monogram series tC. I am considering trading in my 14 model for a 16 model to take advantage of these features. Although the 16 model's radio has a 7-inch touch screen, the CD player has been sacrificed. However, in my case, it should be possible to swap in my 2014 radio since the 16 model doesn't have a backup camera. Apart from that, the engine, wheels, body, moonroof, and interior are identical. If you are shopping for a used model, I would recommend getting a Certified one with a good maintenance history and added warranty coverage, which will likely have new tires as well. If you opt for a new model, you will receive standard Scion Boost/Toyota Care with 2 years and 25,000 miles of paid maintenance. Although Scion is going away in 2017, it should not affect the resale value of the car, which is as solid as any Toyota and can last decades with proper maintenance while looking good as well.

This little car is really growing on me! It's so practical and gets great gas mileage. Plus, it's super reliable and very easy to drive. And since it's a Toyota, I know I can always depend on it.

Hi there! I've had my car for 5 years now and I wanted to share my experience with you. Unfortunately, I've had to replace the manual transmission input shaft bearing twice in just 58,000 miles, which cost me $3,000 each time. On top of that, the cabin can be quite noisy and the ride can be a bit rough. I've also noticed that the interior door panels and sunroof tend to rattle quite a bit. However, the motor is fantastic! If you're considering buying this car, I would recommend going for an automatic transmission. Thanks for reading!
Arvel Gottlieb 2024-04-15
The interior quality may not be the most inspiring, and the car may not be the most peppy even with a manual transmission. However, it's important to note that I may be overly critical since I am coming from a Camry and a Supra. I do believe that dealers could benefit from listening more to their customers. For example, when a customer says they have their own financing, it's best not to shove a credit application in their face as it can cause them to walk right out, as I did.

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I understand that you've had some trouble with your 2015 Scion TC Sport full TRD package. It sounds like you've been experiencing a strange noise and have been to two different Toyota dealerships multiple times. That must have been frustrating! It's great that you persisted and finally got an answer. It's unfortunate that the issue has come back, but I'm sure we can find a solution. Let's work together to get this resolved before your warranty expires. Thank you for bringing this to our attention!

Plastic everywhere, but it adds to the charm. It may rattle a bit when playing music, but that just adds to the character. There is some engine vibration at idle, but it's not too bad. It could be better on gas, but it's worth it for the fun you'll have driving it.
