The Cadillac XTS (short for X-Series Touring Sedan) is a full-size car built by the American company Cadillac from 2013 until 2019. It is a four-door sedan with seating for up to five passengers. Based on an enlarged version of the Epsilon II platform, it has a front-mounted engine that either drives the front wheels or drives all four wheels.
Replacing the smaller Cadillac STS and larger DTS, production began in May 2012 at the Oshawa Assembly Plant and launched in June as a 2013 model. Marketed with left-hand drive in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, and the Middle East (except Israel), the XTS was also assembled by Shanghai GM, with production beginning in February 2013.
Interior
In addition to the base XTS, there are five trim packages labeled "Luxury", "Premium Luxury", and "Platinum", with the optional XTS V-Sport offered in both "V-Sport Premium Luxury" and "V-Sport Platinum". Some of the standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, 4G LTE connectivity, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry, leather seat-upholstery, 8-way power front seats, parking assist and comprehensive safety equipment like ABS, stability control, dual-stage front airbags, front side airbags, side-curtain airbags front and rear, and a driver side knee airbag.
Optional equipment includes separate climate controls for rear seat passengers, coupled with 8" LCD screens that flip up from the front passenger seat-backs, allowing an internal DVD player to display content with wireless headphones. The interior can be outfitted in a large assortment of color combinations, along with four wood selections. Cadillac's CUE system is standard with an 8-speaker Bose sound system, including HD Radio and SiriusXM. An optional 14-speaker Bose sound package includes AudioPilot noise compensation technology.

POWER TRAIN PROBLEM

- Summary: Please note GM PIP5146A...Chatter or Bind Feel on turns... AKA transmission shudder. According to Cadillac dealer in Durham, NC. The car needs it's rear differential replaced; 90,000 miles.. That is happening now. Ally, the extended warranty company, sent a technician to inspect the part. I don't know if the original part is still available. I 1st noticed the problem in Fall 2019. Shop invoice, 62,187miles, reflects differential fluid & filter change which temporarily, partially mitigated the problem for a few years. It never disappeared. I am not sure what the worse case safety scenario is. I never let it get that far.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued 2 recalls for different components of the 2015 Cadillac Xts.

- Components: AIR BAGS:SIDE/WINDOW
- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Camaro, Equinox, Malibu, and GMC Terrain vehicles. The affected vehicles have front seat-mounted side impact air bags whose inflator may rupture upon its deployment.
- Consequence: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of one or both of the side impact air bags, the air bag's inflator may rupture and the air bag may not properly inflate. The rupture could cause metal fragments to strike the vehicle occupants, potentially resulting in serious injury or death. Additionally, if the air bag does not properly inflate, the driver or passenger is at an increased risk of injury.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the side impact air bag modules, free of charge. The recall began on October 19, 2015. Owners may contact Buick customer service at 1-800-521-7300, Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006, or GMC customer service at 1-800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is 01320.

- Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Cadillac XTS vehicles manufactured February 14, 2012, to August 22, 2014, and 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala vehicles manufactured November 5, 2012, to September 2, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the electronic parking brake piston actuation arm may not fully retract causing the brake pads to stay partially engaged.
- Consequence: Brake pads that remain partially engaged with the rotors may cause excessive brake heat that may result in a fire.
- Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the electronic parking brake software, free of charge. The recall began on October 28, 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 14471.

A pleasure to drive. However, the road noise is terrible.

Good car! It rides well and looks great in pearl white with shale interior. It could use more headroom for a man wearing a hat, but overall it's a great choice. The new models have a better warranty to match the competition. The navigation system, lane departure warning, parking sensors, and rearview camera are all great features. Unfortunately, there have been some issues with the cue screens cracking.

Your XTS sounds like a fantastic car! It's easy to drive both in town and on the highway, and it looks great too. While the mileage may be better on the highway than in town, it still handles well in traffic and even in the snow. The sound system is top-notch, although I understand missing the CD player. It's also easy to keep clean and the seats are very comfortable, especially with the added bonus of heated seats during cold weather. The auto start is a great feature too. Overall, it sounds like a classy car that provides a great ride.

I own a 2014 XTS, which is essentially the same as my previous 2013 XTS. Unfortunately, the 2013 model had several issues and Cadillac had to buy it back under Lemon Law. However, I have had a better experience with the 2014 XTS, although it still has some problems that cannot be fixed, such as the radio that sometimes won't turn off. Despite this, the car has its good points. On occasion, the ride can be bumpy, but it is generally comfortable. The car's resale value is not as high as I would like, but it is still a great car. I have not changed my opinion about the XTS, but I understand that it may not be for everyone. The dealership has been very helpful throughout my ownership experience, and I appreciate their support. Add to that the new Cadillac CT6, which is almost exactly like the XTS but two inches longer. The base model is about $58,000 and comes with a 4-cylinder engine borrowed from a Chevy Cruze. By the time you upgrade to the proper V6 engine and trim package, you'll be at $70,000. No wonder you don't see many CT6's on the road. It seems like Cadillac has lost sight of who their customers are, chasing both BMW and Mercedes customers, and it hasn't worked. As a loyal customer, I'm disappointed that Cadillac has nothing to offer me anymore. When it's time to trade, I'll have to go in a different direction. It's really sad. However, I haven't changed my mind on this car. With 21,000 miles on the car, I have had the 3rd replacement battery. The onboard computer that controls everything is as dependable as a $25 watch. The bumper-to-bumper warranty expires in January of 2018. I will see if I can buy an extended warranty just to cover this nightmare that's always causing trouble. When you buy a Cadillac, you will have to deal with the dealer's service department, and 99% of your problems will be with the technology that was forced down your throat!

I rented this car for a week and did lots of city driving in Atlanta, as well as a road trip to Charleston (5 hours each way). Although I had some issues with the driver's seat, the ride was otherwise comfortable and fairly quiet. The passenger enjoyed their seat, which had a wider middle panel. As someone who has driven luxury cars in the past, I may have had higher expectations, but overall it was a decent experience. However, I do think that the seat could benefit from more adjustability to accommodate different body types.

You may not be interested in purchasing this car as I have only had it for less than 3 months. I have had to put air in every tire and unfortunately, there is no spare tire. Additionally, the paint on the back bumper is discolored and the front seat feels quite cramped. The liner in the trunk also keeps falling down. I must admit that I am disappointed with my purchase, especially considering the price of almost $60,000. Furthermore, I had a negative experience with their online site as I was locked out after only one visit. I hope this information helps you make an informed decision.
