Cadillac Xts problems

The Cadillac XTS (short for X-Series Touring Sedan) is a full-size car built by the American company Cadillac from 2013 until 2019. It is a four-door sedan with seating for up to five passengers. Based on an enlarged version of the Epsilon II platform, it has a front-mounted engine that either drives the front wheels or drives all four wheels.
Replacing the smaller Cadillac STS and larger DTS, production began in May 2012 at the Oshawa Assembly Plant and launched in June as a 2013 model. Marketed with left-hand drive in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, and the Middle East (except Israel), the XTS was also assembled by Shanghai GM, with production beginning in February 2013.

In addition to the base XTS, there are five trim packages labeled "Luxury", "Premium Luxury", and "Platinum", with the optional XTS V-Sport offered in both "V-Sport Premium Luxury" and "V-Sport Platinum". Some of the standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, 4G LTE connectivity, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry, leather seat-upholstery, 8-way power front seats, parking assist and comprehensive safety equipment like ABS, stability control, dual-stage front airbags, front side airbags, side-curtain airbags front and rear, and a driver side knee airbag.
Optional equipment includes separate climate controls for rear seat passengers, coupled with 8" LCD screens that flip up from the front passenger seat-backs, allowing an internal DVD player to display content with wireless headphones. The interior can be outfitted in a large assortment of color combinations, along with four wood selections. Cadillac's CUE system is standard with an 8-speaker Bose sound system, including HD Radio and SiriusXM. An optional 14-speaker Bose sound package includes AudioPilot noise compensation technology.

- Date Of Incident: 2024-06-15
- Date Complaint: 2024-06-28
- VIN: 2G61P5S39G9
- Components: WHEELS
- Summary: I was forced onto the shoulder of the interstate by a vehicle that came into my lane. As I went onto the shoulder, I hit a pothole (there were several), and it split my factory rim in half, damaging my tire, also. It took me several days to find a reasonably priced replacement factory wheel as I could not afford $900 to replace one wheel that should have been able to withstand a pothole on the side of the road. I had to pay $215 for a wheel from a company in Wisconsin that had to ship it to me. and it is a used wheel that has a lot of curb rash, damages to it, so who knows how long it will withstand daily driving. I had to buy a new tire for $115 and wait for that to be shipped so I could pick up. Then I had to pay to have the tire put on the wheel and balanced. This also left me on the side of the road for four hours waiting for a tow truck which was very dangerous. Which my insurance only paid partial because of the distance that I was to my home. They charged me an additional $40 on top of what my car insurance paid them. All of this caused a lot of anxiety being on the side of an interstate waiting for a tow truck because my whole rim split in half. And the stress of figuring out how to pay for it all to be repaired so I could stop borrowing a car just to get to and from work. I called the dealership that I purchased the vehicle from Cable Dahmer Cadillac of Kansas City and the person in the parts department basically told me it wasn't anyone's fault and he didn't have any information on how I could file a claim with Cadillac/GM directly before coming here to file a claim. I also filed a claim with the state of Missouri so they are aware the shoulder/road on the interstate in that location needs repaired so this doesn't happen to anyone else.

Purchased a White Diamond exterior with Carmel/Black interior Premium FWD XTS in July after considering a BMW or Mercedes. After 3,300 miles in it, the more I drive it the more I love it. Outstanding ride quality and interior finish is top notch. So glad Cadillac did not abandon the smooth ride to chase the BMW/Mercedes performance (extremely hard ride) model. This car provides a perfect blend of cushion & performance handling.Big car ride with midsize handling. The spirited V6 provides excellent power while returning great gas mileage.CUE system definitely requires a dedicated learning period to familiarize yourself with the many features.

Congratulations on your second XTS Cadi! It's unfortunate that it's no longer in production, but I'm glad to hear that you enjoy its elevated ride height and powerful 304 HP V6 engine. If you manage to keep your foot off the gas pedal, you'll also get great gas mileage. The car's elegant design and high-quality interior trim, including real wood accents, make it stand out from competitors like BMW, Mercedes, and Audi. Plus, it's more affordable too. Thank you for supporting American-made cars!

I received my XTS Platinum FWD in Sapphire Blue Metallic on May 11th and I must say, I become more pleased with it every day. I have previously owned a Lexus LS, a Jaguar XJ, and a Mercedes CLS, and the XTS compares very favorably with each of those luxury vehicles. In fact, after seriously evaluating 11 other cars and SUVs, I couldn't escape the fact that dollar for dollar, the XTS was the best value in its class. It's a pleasure to drive, performs beautifully, and has that head-turning quotient. Overall, I'm extremely happy with my purchase.

I purchased my car a year ago, a used fleet car with only 27,000 miles. Although I have read some complaints about the CUE system and other controls, I have had no problems figuring it out. I opted for the stock engine, as this beauty was built for comfort, not for speed. It's unlike any car I've ever owned; there isn't a single knob on the dashboard, which is pretty cool. Sure, you have to look for the button you want, but it only takes a second. When I move cross country with my German Shepherd and parrot, we will all be very comfortable in this car. I agree that the stock tires are not of the highest quality for a vehicle of this caliber, but that's an easy fix. There are many nice touches inside; one of my favorites is the ambient lighting at night. I also purchased some cool accessories like floor mats with the shield emblem, and lights that display the Cadillac logo on the ground when the door is opened. As a 60 year old retired computer programmer, if this is my midlife crisis, at least I'm doing it in style. It's a shame that Cadillac is discontinuing all sedans, abandoning the very thing that made the brand great.

I originally wanted a CT-6, as I had a 2011 DTS. To find the perfect sedan for my wife, we sat in many different models. Although we had not considered an XTS, we decided to look at all models again, as we have been loyal Cadillac owners since 1971. While I understand that there is no comparison between imports and the XTS, the price point, finish, and hi-tech components of the XTS made me take a closer look. When my wife said, 'I like that one,' and Edmonds had already provided me with a quote, we purchased the XTS. It is a great car and drives almost as smoothly as my previous DTS's and DeVilles. I gave road noise a poor grade on the survey, but the noise and harsh ride were totally the fault of the tires. The original equipment tires provided great stability and drive characteristics, but I care nothing about that. After hearing similar complaints from other Cadillac owners about tires, I requested that the dealer replace them with a different brand of non-performance tires. This was done at no charge to me, and my ride is now restored. We truly like the car, and the warranty and free service are equal or better than the imports. The engine and drivetrain are well-proven. It's a nice Cadillac with nice pricing. Update June 2018: We've been on several trips with the XTS, and it has performed wonderfully. The highway mileage at 73 MPH is 29.7-31.2. The car is extremely responsive for a non-turbo V6, and there has never been any issue with lack of power for any purpose. The electronics are faultless, and the handling is great. I had it serviced by an out-of-state dealership, and it was a very pleasant experience with no cost. The only small cons are that the trunk size is smaller than a DTS, and we carry a small scooter as well as luggage in the trunk. Perhaps it is my age, or just maybe the seats could be a little softer. Beyond that, it's a great car for us, and we have honestly enjoyed it since purchase.

This car has a beautiful design inside and out. Although I have had some issues, the local dealer was kind and helpful in resolving them. Unfortunately, the car came without wheel locks which led to my rims being stolen 3 months into my lease. Additionally, on two occasions the rear suspension has dropped, literally bottomed out. However, the dealer was not equipped with the training to deal with this problem. Thankfully, the third time they replaced the rear compressor which seems to have done the trick. At 24,000 miles, one of the battery cables became completely corroded. Perhaps technology is taxing the battery too much? Overall, this is a great car on the road, but leaving someone stranded three times in less than 18 months won't win reliability points. I hope the kinks are out in 2014. Nothing rides like a Cadillac.

The Cadillac Cue system in my 2018 XTS has been experiencing issues with saved channels disappearing and the steering wheel controls not functioning properly. Despite addressing the issue with the dealer, a fix has not yet been implemented. Additionally, the passenger side air bag seat sensor has malfunctioned and required a replacement. As a luxury vehicle, these recurring problems are disappointing. However, I remain confident that Cadillac will address these issues and continue to produce high-quality vehicles.

I have had this car since it was new and replaced my 2014 Cadillac XTS Premium with it. However, I wish I had my 2014 back. The car has been pulling to the right and left depending on the road surface, and I have taken it to the dealer five times, but the issue persists. My 8-year-old GMC truck and my Corvette have never had this problem. Unfortunately, the dealer has been unable to find the problem. Two weeks ago, the whole dash stopped working until I shut off the car, and then it came back on. The dealer reflashed some unit but could not find the problem. In the last two weeks, I have been having trouble with the anti-lock brakes. In the snow, the front wheels lock up, and you can't turn the car. This issue is very concerning, and I am taking it to the dealer on Monday. Unfortunately, I had to wait a week to get in for someone to look at it. My wife refuses to drive the car, so I have to pull myself into a four-wheel-drive pickup to go to church. I have always had Cadillacs for road travel, but I don't believe I will buy another. I am very unhappy with this car, and I can't live with brakes not working sometimes.

We were considering purchasing a new XT-5, so we decided to rent the XTS for an extended vacation that included various types of driving, such as city driving in Phoenix & Las Vegas, heavy mountain driving in Northern Arizona & Utah, and flat, high-speed desert driving in Nevada and Arizona. The car has an overall pleasing style that offers decent interior room in a relatively compact body configuration. The interior is fairly well-finished and not too busy in appearance. The trunk is reasonably sized and can accommodate two large suitcases plus two good sized carry-on bags. However, we did encounter some issues with the Cadillac's Cue Entertainment/Info system. This is hands down the worst system we have ever used (we've had Mercedes, Volvo's, Jeep's, Ford products with My-Touch Sync, as well previous model Cadillac's, all with factory navigation systems to compare). When you get your hands anywhere near the touch screen, half the screen displays control icons for the various functions the system offers, which can be incredibly annoying, especially when you are using the sometimes accurate navigation screen. Our car was only 3 weeks old and had just over 1,000 miles on it when we got in it, so we expected everything to be in proper working order. However, the navigation system occasionally worked well, but on at least three occasions over the 1,600 mile, nearly two-week This is the first car I've ever driven with cooled seats that turned on by themselves on a hot day, which was a bit bizarre. The climate control was set at 72 degrees on auto-temp with an outside temperature of only 78, but it blasted cold air for hours at a clip. The heat sensor must be mounted in the top of the dash where the sun is always on it. The cruise control can be a bit tricky to figure out. Sometimes when you hit the resume switch, it might go back to the previous speed, or it might choose a higher speed in 5-mph increments. One time, it was set at 82 mph, and when I hit the resume, it took off and showed it was set for 90! During mountain freeway driving, the cruise is incapable of maintaining a steady speed. The car automatically downshifts on steep mountain grades, even at freeway speeds, which can be annoying and completely unnecessary. There's no place for sunglasses in the interior storage, and the cup holders are not cooled like some competitors, making water bottles rather warm while driving in the desert. There's a compartment hidden behind the climate and radio controls that is activated by touching the bottom edge, engaging an electrical motor that swings the entire panel upward, providing nothing is obstructing it. It's a good conversation piece, but it serves no purpose. The perimeter sonar sensors are audible about two milliseconds before impact, requiring the driver to rely only on the visual indicators, which is great when in reverse! The rear camera is rendered totally useless at night because of the glare from the center-mounted back-up lamp. The dash appearance strips cast a glare on the side glass that inhibits the vision of the driver's side rear-view mirror. Unfortunately, the power adjustable steering wheel doesn't have enough vertical movement. The position of the gear stick is too high, causing arm fatigue during long drives with hands at the proper 10 o'clock/2 o'clock position. Additionally, the head restraint adjustment only allows for up and down movement, which is surprising for a $60K automobile. However, if you are still considering this car, go for it. We have owned new Cadillacs in the past, and while they have been less than stellar, we were hoping that General Motors had finally shed some of the deadwood executives that drove it into bankruptcy. Unfortunately, Cadillac has not won us over this time. It is possible that the biggest market for this car is the rental car fleet at heavily discounted prices, because this car just doesn't cut it.

The car has been taken to the dealer 9 times since July due to issues with the cue system. It is clear that GM has not yet found a solution for these problems. It is important to ensure that all issues are resolved before releasing a car to the market.
