The Cadillac XTS (short for X-Series Touring Sedan) is a full-size car built by the American company Cadillac from 2013 until 2019. It is a four-door sedan with seating for up to five passengers. Based on an enlarged version of the Epsilon II platform, it has a front-mounted engine that either drives the front wheels or drives all four wheels.

Replacing the smaller Cadillac STS and larger DTS, production began in May 2012 at the Oshawa Assembly Plant and launched in June as a 2013 model. Marketed with left-hand drive in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, and the Middle East (except Israel), the XTS was also assembled by Shanghai GM, with production beginning in February 2013.

Interior

In addition to the base XTS, there are five trim packages labeled "Luxury", "Premium Luxury", and "Platinum", with the optional XTS V-Sport offered in both "V-Sport Premium Luxury" and "V-Sport Platinum". Some of the standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, 4G LTE connectivity, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry, leather seat-upholstery, 8-way power front seats, parking assist and comprehensive safety equipment like ABS, stability control, dual-stage front airbags, front side airbags, side-curtain airbags front and rear, and a driver side knee airbag.

Optional equipment includes separate climate controls for rear seat passengers, coupled with 8" LCD screens that flip up from the front passenger seat-backs, allowing an internal DVD player to display content with wireless headphones. The interior can be outfitted in a large assortment of color combinations, along with four wood selections. Cadillac's CUE system is standard with an 8-speaker Bose sound system, including HD Radio and SiriusXM. An optional 14-speaker Bose sound package includes AudioPilot noise compensation technology.

The contact stated that his son and wife were driving back home on the highway at an undisclosed speed when all of a sudden they heard a loud sound come from the rear end of the vehicle, this sound continued to persist and so the contacts son proceeded to veer off onto the next exit to park their vehicle in order to inspect where the obnoxious sound had come from. The contact stated that his son had called him to arrive to the scene in order to inspect the vehicle, upon the contact arriving to check out the vehicle, he noticed a clear crack across the narrow flange of the catalytic converter. The contact proceeded to turn on the vehicle and noticed that the check engine light was illuminated, and the exhaust would make an obnoxiously loud noise. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the vehicle inspected however not diagnosed. The contact was advised that the catalytic converter had a massive crack in it, and that he would have to replace it. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 82,208.

  • Summary: I was driving north on I-65 traveling about 65mph and the Rear Air Suspension failed and dropped to the point the tires were about 1 inch (2.54 cm) from the finder wells. I lost control of the car, the rear end was bouncing, almost causing me to crash. Not only that, but I had to drive it home with the hazards on, while driving on I-65, people passing me at 70mph. Cadillac knows about this fault and refuses to fix it. They want to charge you $1,000 plus to replace the entire system. My Cadillac was just at the dealership about 8 days prior to this incident for mileage scheduled maintenance, in which the suspension is one of the things they were supposed to have checked out. Someone if they haven't already is going to get killed when this happens. There is no warning.

THE INFORMATION THAT WAS GIVEN BY BOTH STATED THE CAR NEVER BEEN IN A ACCIDENT AND WAS WELL TAKEN CARE OF. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED I NEED A CLOCK RING AND AIRBAG MODULE, WHICH COST OVER $700 DOLLARS. THEY ALSO STATED THAT GMC SWITCH THE GUIDELINES ON THE CLOCK RING AND THEY CAN'T INSTALL IT WITHOUT THE AIRBAG MODULE. THEY HAVE NO IDEAL WHY IT'S BEEN CHANGE AND NOW I HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE AIRBAG MODULE BECAUSE THE CLOCK RING WANT FIT. I CAN'T DRIVE ME CAR HOME BECAUSE OF SAFETY REASONS AND THEY HAD TO GIVE ME A CAR FOR THE TIME BEING. THIS ACCIDENT INCURRED OVER $22, 000.00 WORTH OF VEHICLE AND PROPERTY DAMAGE WHICH IS CONSIDERED BY MY AUTO INSURANCE PROVIDER AS AN AT FAULT ACCIDENT ON MY PART. THIS IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND I HAVE READ AT ONE TIME CADILLAC HAD A BACKLOG OF OVER 4000 VEHICLES WAITING ON REPLACEMENT CUE MODULES BUT YET NO VOLUNTARY RECALL. HOPEFULLY THE NTSHA CAN LOOK INTO THIS MATTER AND REQUIRE CADILLAC TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM FOR OWNERS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY SINCE SOME FUNCTIONS SET WITH THE TOUCH SCREEN ARE RELATED TO VEHICLE SAFETY (COLLISION AVOIDANCE, AUTO-BRAKING AND LANE DEPARTURE).

NO DISCERNIBLE CRACKS OR HISTORY OF ISSUES. WEATHER WAS 65 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. NO SUDDEN CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE OR MOISTURE. CLEAR SKIES, NOT OVERCAST OR SUNNY. NO DAMAGE TO THE UNDERLYING SLIDING COVER. THE UNSAFE CONDITION IS IF THE COVER WOULD HAVE BEEN RETRACTED AND MY CHILDREN IN THEIR CAR SEATS. THE SPONTANEOUS EXPLOSION WOULD HAVE SENT PIECES OF GLASS DOWN, CUTTING THEM.

  • Manufacturer: General Motors LLC
  • Components: PARKING BRAKE
  • Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Cadillac XTS vehicles manufactured February 14, 2012, to August 22, 2014, and 2014-2015 Chevrolet Impala vehicles manufactured November 5, 2012, to September 2, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the electronic parking brake piston actuation arm may not fully retract causing the brake pads to stay partially engaged.
  • Consequence: Brake pads that remain partially engaged with the rotors may cause excessive brake heat that may result in a fire.
  • Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will update the electronic parking brake software, free of charge. The recall began on October 28, 2014. Owners may contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020, or Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 14471.

  • Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Cadillac XTS vehicles manufactured April 11, 2013, to June 27, 2013, and 2014 Chevrolet Impala vehicles manufactured May 13, 2013, to November 5, 2013. The affected vehicles may have left the factory with the sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) set to "manufacturing mode."
  • Consequence: In manufacturing mode, the vehicle's air bags will not deploy in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of occupant injury.
  • Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers are to reprogram the SDM to the correct mode, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in September 2014. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020. GM's number for this recall is 14532.

  • Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2014 Buick Regal, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Camaro and Chevrolet Impala vehicles. Improperly torqued fasteners may cause the steering intermediate shaft and the steering gear and/or the lower control arm and the lower ball joint to separate.
  • Consequence: If any of the components separate, the vehicle may have a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: GM began to notify owners on June 27, 2014, and dealers will inspect the fasteners for correct torque, correcting them as necessary, free of charge. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-521-7300 (Buick), 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac) or 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet). GM's number for this recall is 14378.

  • Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Cadillac XTS vehicles manufactured February 14, 2012, through March 7, 2014. In the affected vehicles, a cavity plug on the brake booster pump connector may dislodge allowing corrosion of the brake booster pump relay connector.
  • Consequence: The corrosion of the brake booster pump relay connector may cause a resistive short and melt the connector, increasing the risk of a fire.
  • Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will apply sealant to the connector cavity plugs, re-route the vacuum pump vent hose and replace the front body wiring harnesses as needed, free of charge. The recall began on April 7, 2014. Owners may contact Cadillac at 1-866-982-2339. GM's number for this recall is 14062.

Over $100 to replace a bulbWhen it is hot out, the left blinker sometimes stops workingFan switch broke and ran down the battery. Cadillac replaced it under warranty, but charged me for replacing the one year old battery that it came with!The engine runs fine, but everything "luxury" about this car is not luxurious. I should have bought a high end impala for 1/2 the price. Very disappointed.

    This is a platinum model with all the bells and whistles. Although I like the looks of the car, I must say that my 2006 DTS high performance had more interior room, a better ride, a lot more acceleration and got the same fuel mileage. Unfortunately, I had to replace the touch screen every 1 1/2 to 2 years, which was quite expensive. The acceleration is not up to the mark and the ride is just so-so. I had a Chevy Impala for a company car and it rode just as smoothly as my Cadillac. In summary, after owning Cadillacs for 20 years and this one for 7 years, I have decided that this is my 3rd and last Cadillac. Update: At 58k miles, I developed a shimmy in the front end, which was the last straw. I traded it and now own a BMW. The BMW ride and acceleration are much improved over my Cadillac. Time will tell on the reliability.

    I retired in 2013 after working for the state of Ohio. I had saved for 10 years prior to my retirement to afford my dream car, a 2013 Cadillac XTS. The ride is amazing and the sport suspension is a joy to use when needed. Overall, it has been a great Cadillac experience, although there have been a few maintenance issues. I have had to replace 3 sets of rear shocks, at $1,500.00 a set, but one was covered under warranty. Recently, I had to replace the all-wheel-drive rear axle pump for the second time, which cost me $1,600.00. Additionally, the screen on the touch radio shattered, but GM said it was not a safety issue. I paid the $330.00 cost to fix it. It is important to note that my car is 9.25 years old with 90,000 miles on it. I write this review to inform potential buyers of the expenses that come with maintaining an older Cadillac XTS.

    So, I live in Florida and recently took a trip to a cabin in Gatlinburg. Unfortunately, on the way there, the engine light came on for a couple of minutes and then the steering wheel controls stopped working and did not light up. On the way back, the engine light came back on and after three days of this incident, the entire electrical system failed. Needless to say, this experience has left me feeling quite disappointed and I don't think I will be purchasing another GM car.

    This is my 3rd Cadillac and it's been the best one yet! I don't understand why some people complain about the CUE. Sure, it could react a bit faster, but it works great. There's a bit of a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it, you're good to go. The ride is pure Cadillac - great handling and stopping power. The acceleration is a bit sluggish at first, but once you hit the throttle, it really takes off. I like to call it 'techno overload' because of all the amazing features. And the instrument cluster? It's simply awesome!

    I really enjoy waiting until I've driven a new car for a thousand miles before reviewing it. I must say, this car is a dreamboat! It's been described as the new definition of the American luxury car, and I completely agree. It's not trying to be a European or Japanese clone, it's its own unique thing, and I love it. It's big enough to feel luxurious, but not so big that it feels clunky on the road. It's an absolute pleasure to drive. I traded in my 2012 BMW X5 for this (I really disliked the electronic shifter in the BMW), and before that, I had a Lexus LS460. I can honestly say that I prefer this Cadillac over both of those cars.

    We purchased the Platinum AWD in Diamond White. It's a stunning car, both inside and out. The safety features are fantastic, and the ride is smooth and comfortable. The CUE system is absolutely fabulous. The XTS is truly a new chapter for Cadillac, appealing to both traditional Cadillac owners and the younger generation. It's a shame it doesn't come with a V8 engine.

    The XTS boasts unparalleled coach work, however, I have experienced some issues with the car and have had to take it back to the dealer nine times. Despite the supposed availability of service at preferred dealers, I have encountered some challenges when dealers are unable to provide a fix and refuse service. I have had to switch to my third dealer. Although getting Cadillac involved did not yield the desired results, I remain confident that the issues with my car will be resolved. Since purchasing the car in July, I have experienced some minor issues such as the doors unlocking at times, power seats and mirrors moving unexpectedly, and occasional lack of heat. I am optimistic that these issues will be resolved soon.
