- Summary: 5 April 2022 my 2010 Taurus SEL 3.5L engine overheated unexpectedly and the temp warning light came on my way home. I let it cool down during a heavy rain before heading home. I left the vehicle at a gas station for a couple of hours and return to bring it home (3 miles). Temp gage remain steady (3 miles) until it was parked on my driveway. The next day, I conducted an assessment to the cooling system. Reservoir was completely empty and my oil deep stick level was higher than normal 1 inch above max range. It showed coolant contamination. I read several reports about a flaw with the internal water pump design. If indeed is a flaw design or pump manufacture defect, why Ford Motor Company hasn't fix the issue or provided a solution to alleviate this flaw? Now I have to incur on major engine repairs or replacement, in which I am not sure if it is cost effective. Current mileage 171,424

The driver frontal air bag may improperly inflate during second-stage deployment in the event of a high speed crash. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection."
- Consequence: An improperly inflated air bag increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the driver's frontal air bag module, as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on June 13, 2016. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 16C06.

- Summary: Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain model year 2010-2013 Ford Taurus vehicles manufactured December 1, 2009, to July 31, 2010, and 2011-2013 Lincoln MKS vehicles manufactured June 1, 2011, to October 31, 2011. In the affected vehicles, the interior door handle return spring may unseat, resulting in interior door handle that does not return to the fully stowed position after actuation.
- Consequence: If the interior door handle return spring is unseated, the door may unlatch in the event of a side impact crash, increasing the risk of personal injury.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will inspect all four of the interior door handles and either repair or replace them, free of charge. The recall began March 23, 2015. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 15S02.

When used in areas that use road salt, the license plate lamp assembly may experience an electro-chemical reaction and corrosion as a result of water intrusion.
- Consequence: This corrosion may result in a short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire.
- Remedy: Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the license plate lamp assemblies, free of charge. The recall began on July 26, 2014. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-800-392-3673. Ford's number for this recall is 14S08. We've only had our Taurus for a little over a month, but we've already taken it on a 5-day driving trip to the mountains. It handled great, and we even used the shift paddles coming down some of the steeper grades. They were easy to use and safer than riding the brake. We were pleasantly surprised to average 26 mpg. Passengers in the backseat commented on how comfortable they were and how well they could see out. We absolutely love the hands-free SYNC system. We used the directions coming and going, even though we had a map, and it even helped us find a Walmart. The trunk is huge, and the seating height is just right - you don't fall into the car. Everywhere we go, we always get comments on what a beautiful car it is.

Congratulations on your new fully loaded SHO! It sounds like a fantastic upgrade from your '08 Sable. The Platinum tricoat finish is a great choice and the Charcoal/Umber interior combo looks stunning. While the Performance package may offer some additional features, your SHO is already impressively fast and a joy to drive. I'm so happy with our decision to special order this car back in May '09, even though we didn't get to test drive or see it in person beforehand. The Taurus is such a great car and I'm thrilled that Ford brought it back. I'm really enjoying all the new features, like the BlueTooth and voice activation. We nicknamed it the Silver Bullet and I love the color. The seats are super comfortable and the ride is smooth and quiet. It handles great too! We've been getting 29-30 MPG on trips to Ohio and 21-22 MPG around town and to work, which is fantastic. Overall, we're really happy with it. The only issue we've had is with the auto windshield wipers, which haven't been working properly. Unfortunately, the dealer hasn't been able to determine the problem yet. Since it's a new vehicle, we're not sure how to maintain or troubleshoot it ourselves, and we're disappointed that Ford didn't provide maintenance manuals or train their personnel in advance.

At 90,000 miles, I have had no problems with this car and I absolutely love driving it!

I drove the vehicle for 3 days and the wrench light appeared after a foul raw fuel smell was entering the drivers cabin. Although the Ford dealership managed to turn off the wrench light, the raw fuel smell still persists. Unfortunately, it has been over 3 months of back and forth to the repair shop and the issue has not been resolved yet. We are concerned about our health while driving this vehicle, but Ford dismisses that there is any serious problem. If you're looking for reliable and dependable transport, it might be best to consider other options. I even regret selling my 12-year-old Volvo with 200K, as it was much easier to service.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to bring to your attention that I've been experiencing some issues with the collision avoidance system since purchasing it. Specifically, the Alternative Trac, Cruise / Collision Avoidance turns off and requires a shut down and restart to clear. Unfortunately, it's been in the shop consistently, at least twice a month. The technicians have advised that they can only find an error if the warning or advisory light is on, but they have been unable to find any issues. I purchased this for my spouse and I'm hoping we can find a solution soon. Thank you for your help!

Your Taurus has a really sharp interior, which is the best I've ever seen in any car (and I used to work for car rental). The exterior is also amazing. I understand that you had some issues with the transmission slipping once in a while, and later with the water pump, which caused some coolant and oil to mix up in the engine, making it impossible to run the car. Despite all these issues, I can see that you still love your Taurus and can't seem to find anything as appealing. It's powerful, attractive, and extremely comfortable.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to share my experience with you. I recently traded in my Acura TL for a Ford Taurus Limited. While I was excited about my purchase, I did encounter a few issues. The car had to be taken to the shop twice within the first three months, and the entire gas tank had to be replaced. Additionally, the car still has a bit of a lurch with each gear change, and a couple of people have mentioned that it's making some strange noises. On top of that, the chrome trim started flaking after just 10 months of being kept in a garage. I have to admit, I miss my Acura. I think I'll wait for the next model year and then trade in my Taurus. Despite these issues, I'm still hopeful that I'll find a car that will last me many years to come.

I strongly recommend going back to Honda. Despite spending over $30K on this car, the AC compressor failed and broke the drive belt, resulting in the second new car I have had to tow to the dealer. The first was a brand new 1985 Ford Escort, which had a broken camshaft belt at around 15,000 miles. Ford reluctantly fixed the engine only after I threatened to rent the lot across the street and park my lemon with signage explaining why it was parked there.
