2016 Cadillac Xts problems
The Cadillac XTS (short for X-Series Touring Sedan) is a full-size car built by the American company Cadillac from 2013 until 2019. It is a four-door sedan with seating for up to five passengers. Based on an enlarged version of the Epsilon II platform, it has a front-mounted engine that either drives the front wheels or drives all four wheels.
Replacing the smaller Cadillac STS and larger DTS, production began in May 2012 at the Oshawa Assembly Plant and launched in June as a 2013 model. Marketed with left-hand drive in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, and the Middle East (except Israel), the XTS was also assembled by Shanghai GM, with production beginning in February 2013.
Interior
In addition to the base XTS, there are five trim packages labeled "Luxury", "Premium Luxury", and "Platinum", with the optional XTS V-Sport offered in both "V-Sport Premium Luxury" and "V-Sport Platinum". Some of the standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, 4G LTE connectivity, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry, leather seat-upholstery, 8-way power front seats, parking assist and comprehensive safety equipment like ABS, stability control, dual-stage front airbags, front side airbags, side-curtain airbags front and rear, and a driver side knee airbag.
Optional equipment includes separate climate controls for rear seat passengers, coupled with 8" LCD screens that flip up from the front passenger seat-backs, allowing an internal DVD player to display content with wireless headphones. The interior can be outfitted in a large assortment of color combinations, along with four wood selections. Cadillac's CUE system is standard with an 8-speaker Bose sound system, including HD Radio and SiriusXM. An optional 14-speaker Bose sound package includes AudioPilot noise compensation technology.

Why did they stop making Cadillac XTS?

- Summary: I was forced onto the shoulder of the interstate by a vehicle that came into my lane. As I went onto the shoulder, I hit a pothole (there were several), and it split my factory rim in half, damaging my tire, also. It took me several days to find a reasonably priced replacement factory wheel as I could not afford $900 to replace one wheel that should have been able to withstand a pothole on the side of the road. I had to pay $215 for a wheel from a company in Wisconsin that had to ship it to me. and it is a used wheel that has a lot of curb rash, damages to it, so who knows how long it will withstand daily driving. I had to buy a new tire for $115 and wait for that to be shipped so I could pick up. Then I had to pay to have the tire put on the wheel and balanced. This also left me on the side of the road for four hours waiting for a tow truck which was very dangerous. Which my insurance only paid partial because of the distance that I was to my home. They charged me an additional $40 on top of what my car insurance paid them. All of this caused a lot of anxiety being on the side of an interstate waiting for a tow truck because my whole rim split in half. And the stress of figuring out how to pay for it all to be repaired so I could stop borrowing a car just to get to and from work. I called the dealership that I purchased the vehicle from Cable Dahmer Cadillac of Kansas City and the person in the parts department basically told me it wasn't anyone's fault and he didn't have any information on how I could file a claim with Cadillac/GM directly before coming here to file a claim. I also filed a claim with the state of Missouri so they are aware the shoulder/road on the interstate in that location needs repaired so this doesn't happen to anyone else.

- Summary: Hazard lights go on automatically while driving. This creates a huge safety issue, especially when driving in high traffic areas as other drivers may mistake Hazard Lights as turn signals. I brought my vehicle in to a Cadillac dealership in December of 2020 to replace the Hazard Light switch. They replaced it with OEM parts, and the issue started happening again in April of 2022. The Hazard Lights will also engage when the vehicle is not running, so this discharges the battery to the point you need to buy a new one. Cadillac needs provide customers with safer Hazard Switches. This is the second time within 2.5 years the Hazard Lights need to be replaced.

When the vehicle does this it drives you into on coming traffic. You have to stop the vehicle, put it in park to restart, once this is done you have to go through a reset mode shown on dash.

While driving 35 MPH, the rear passenger’s side tire experienced a blowout. The contact stated that prior to the failure, a mechanic informed her that all four of the tires appeared to have splits in the sidewalls of each of the tires. - Summary: 20-inch aluminum alloys wheels are all bent. I purchased this vehicle from a dealer near Lansing, Michigan. Upon test driving there were 2 wheels low on air. The dealer inspected the wheels and assured me they were fine. Once I got home I took the car to a local dealer who confirmed that all 4 rims were bent. This was also confirmed by the local tire shop. 4 rims for the vehicle were almost $[XXX], which also had a 3-4 month back order. The dealer and tire shop confirmed that bent 20” rims are a major problem for GM and aftermarket wheels were the only option if I did not want to wait months. I contacted the previous owner of the vehicle (they left their registration under the car seat) and they confirmed they had the same issue. The previous owner was told It was tires, and after purchasing 4 new tires (The same model as came from the factory) the problem persisted. Rather than purchase e new rims on top of the $1500 in tires, the previous owner chose to trade the vehicle. This rim problem is quite common and NOT limited to Corvettes, GM should replace these wheels for no charge. GM engineers and tests these vehicles and rim IN MICHIGAN. Perhaps they should drive and test on the roads the rest of the state has to drive on, not just the freshly paved road of the GM Proving Grounds. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A SIMPLE SOFTWARE UPDATE WHICH I REPLIED TO THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT I DIDN'T THINK SO. (I GUESS MY EXPERIENCE IN BUSINESS MEANS NOTHING!). I DROVE AWAY ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AFTER ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES OF DRIVING. IT TOOK 2 WEEKS TO OBTAIN ANOTHER APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALER. I ASKED IF THEY HAVE THE PART AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WAS A SPECIAL ORDER, BLAH, BLAH, BLAH... You won't believe how amazing this modern muscle car is - it's the best car I've ever driven!

I can't believe it's been 20 years since I got my dream car! Even though I don't drive it every day, it still has that new car smell and every time I get in, it brings a smile to my face. With only 21,500 miles on it, I've only had a small issue with the side mirrors fluttering at high speeds, but they were quickly replaced. The leather interior is so comfortable and the spacious seating both in the front and back make it feel like a classic Cadillac from the 70s, which is exactly what I dreamed of in high school. I'm so grateful for this car and the memories it has given me!

I love this car! It handles so well and accelerates without any lag. The trunk is very roomy too. I have nothing but praise for it. The safety features are amazing and have saved me from trouble a few times. It's the perfect car for those of us who are used to the old Cadillacs from the 1970s and 90s. It reminds me of my old 89 Pontiac SSE, but without the glitches. The luxury, power, and style are all there. I absolutely love it! UPDATE: Driving this car is an absolute pleasure. The ride is great and the safety features work really well. I haven't been this happy with a car since my 1989 Bonneville SSE. It's such a fun and powerful ride!

I have 147,000 miles on this car and unfortunately, the Que system is out again. The screen has malfunctioned, which is disappointing considering it was previously replaced under warranty after just 2,000 miles. Additionally, the torque limiter in the transmission is failing, causing some discomfort during low speed take offs. Despite these issues, I still love the car and with regular transmission flushes, I can manage the occasional bump when accelerating.

I rented a Cadillac over Thanksgiving weekend, as it was the only car available on the elite aisle. While the car rental treated it like a Bentley, it didn't quite live up to those expectations. The car looks good and has a nice interior, but that's where the positives end. The unit had 416 miles upon pickup, and I put an additional 2000 miles on it. The fuel mpg was 23 or better, but the engine performance was lacking. The engine and transmission were disconnected, and when forced to work, they were non-responsive at the worst times, which was dangerous. The CUE system was a nightmare, and all the technology in the car was difficult to use. Even the power seats were not user-friendly, as the memory settings required you to hold the button until preferences were restored. For example, if you have a seat exit programmed, it runs, and then you want the seat and everything else to go back to your programmed settings, you have to hold the #1 button for 30 seconds. The interior has nice finishes, but there is no storage or outlets, and the powered dash panel to hide a 90s flip phone with an inaccessible USB jack is just ridiculous. Overall, I didn't have a great experience with this car.

I have had this car since it was new and replaced my 2014 Cadillac XTS Premium with it. However, I wish I had my 2014 back. The car has been pulling to the right and left depending on the road surface, and I have taken it to the dealer five times, but the issue persists. My 8-year-old GMC truck and my Corvette have never had this problem. Unfortunately, the dealer has been unable to find the root cause of the issue. Two weeks ago, the whole dash stopped working, but it came back on after I shut off the car. The dealer reflashed some unit, but they could not find the problem. In the last two weeks, I have been having trouble with the anti-lock brakes. In the snow, the front wheels lock up, and it becomes impossible to turn the car. This issue is very concerning, and I am taking the car to the dealer on Monday. Unfortunately, I had to wait a week to get an appointment. My wife refuses to drive the car, so I have to pull myself into a four-wheel-drive pickup to go to church. I have always preferred Cadillacs for road travel, but I don't think I will buy another one. I am very unhappy with this car, and I cannot live with brakes that do not work sometimes.

I upgraded from a 2011 pre-owned Cadillac CTS, which I owned for two years without any issues, to a brand new 2016 luxury Cadillac XTS. However, I have been disappointed with this vehicle so far due to some problems I have encountered. Despite being under warranty, I had to replace the shocks, fix the driver's side door lock, and repair the sunroof which stopped opening. While these issues were resolved, I am considering trading in this vehicle and exploring other options beyond Cadillac.
