The Cadillac XTS (short for X-Series Touring Sedan) is a full-size car built by the American company Cadillac from 2013 until 2019. It is a four-door sedan with seating for up to five passengers. Based on an enlarged version of the Epsilon II platform, it has a front-mounted engine that either drives the front wheels or drives all four wheels.

Replacing the smaller Cadillac STS and larger DTS, production began in May 2012 at the Oshawa Assembly Plant and launched in June as a 2013 model. Marketed with left-hand drive in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, and the Middle East (except Israel), the XTS was also assembled by Shanghai GM, with production beginning in February 2013.

Interior

In addition to the base XTS, there are five trim packages labeled "Luxury", "Premium Luxury", and "Platinum", with the optional XTS V-Sport offered in both "V-Sport Premium Luxury" and "V-Sport Platinum". Some of the standard features include dual-zone automatic climate control, 4G LTE connectivity, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry, leather seat-upholstery, 8-way power front seats, parking assist and comprehensive safety equipment like ABS, stability control, dual-stage front airbags, front side airbags, side-curtain airbags front and rear, and a driver side knee airbag.

Optional equipment includes separate climate controls for rear seat passengers, coupled with 8" LCD screens that flip up from the front passenger seat-backs, allowing an internal DVD player to display content with wireless headphones. The interior can be outfitted in a large assortment of color combinations, along with four wood selections. Cadillac's CUE system is standard with an 8-speaker Bose sound system, including HD Radio and SiriusXM. An optional 14-speaker Bose sound package includes AudioPilot noise compensation technology.

Negative 2019 Cadillac Xts car reviews

  1. Dominic Waters 2025-05-01

The car has 60K miles on it. I understand that spider cracks on the radio screen are common in most Cadillacs, and fixing it for $1,000 does not guarantee that new cracks won't appear. Connecting an iPhone to the Cue system can be a bit of a hassle. Although the car is beautiful, comfortable, and handles well, I would expect better quality in the electronics.

  2. Toy Jerde 2024-10-19

Nice car! However, I was surprised to find out that it didn't have blind spot detection, which was a deal breaker for me. The car is very comfortable, but there are a few blind spots. Additionally, I was expecting more options for the price point.

  3. Derrick Olson 2024-09-23

Hello! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my thoughts on the vehicle you mentioned. While it looks great, I found it a bit challenging to drive due to the blind spots and narrow view out of the rear view mirror. Additionally, the distance between the large head rests made it difficult to see behind me, and I often bumped my head when entering or exiting the vehicle. Lastly, I found that the gear shift got in the way of the cup holder, and I would have preferred if they were placed elsewhere or if there were additional cup holders available. Thank you for letting me share my experience!

  4. Kaleigh Greenfelder 2024-06-26

Of course, the Cadillac name has a certain appeal, but the hype surrounding it may be exaggerated... as is the price.

  5. Cary Mueller 2024-05-02

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to let you know that we've experienced some issues with the electrical system shutting down completely three times at remote locations. This can be quite dangerous, so we're taking steps to address the problem. Thank you for your understanding!

Positive 2019 Cadillac Xts car reviews

  1. Misael Hauck 2025-05-12

I love this car! Everything about it works for me. I read how professional reviewers don't think it's fast, but when I tromp on it, it jumps off the line and pins you in the seat. I know it's true because when I took a friend for a ride, he was very impressed with the acceleration! It's a beautiful car, as many people have told me. The new styling is stunning, and of course, it's a Cadillac, which is an upgrade over my other premium cars.

  2. Wilbert Terry 2025-05-06

GM apparently sells a large number of Luxury optioned XTS's to fleets. They don't have all the goodies of the Premium or Platinum Luxury editions, but they come back on the market as one year old cars dirt cheap. I considered many of them but decided we needed the extras that come with the Premium Luxury model. We were able to buy a dealer demo with only 3400 miles on it with a $20K discount. We have driven Cadillacs for 30 years but always bought used ones. This is our first new Cadillac and it is stunning. The fact that SUVs, pickup trucks, and 'sport' sedans are so popular make this traditional luxury sedan a great buy. Ours is a 2017 model and I note there is heavy dealer discounting on 2018 models. If you want a luxury sedan at a bargain price compare the XTS with what you can get for the same price. I absolutely love the adaptive cruise control, although I haven't gotten up the nerve to try the auto parallel part feature yet. However, I must admit that the CUE touchscreen controls are hard to operate. If someone came up with an aftermarket on/off/scroll button, every owner would have it installed. On top of being anything but intuitive, the screen retains your fingerprint every time you touch it, which can look messy and obscure the controls at certain times of the day. The power window controls are placed too far forward, and the switch for the driver's side window should be right where your hand falls, but you tend to hit the rear window button instead. This car has more road noise than previous DTS and SLS we have owned. The Goodyear Eagle tires may be part of the problem, but you would think GM would want a quiet ride in a luxury car. One year into ownership of this car, I couldn't stand the road noise any more. I was shopping for replacement tires and was very annoyed that GM would equip a luxury car with tires this obtrusive. I drove a CT6 and decided that was what I should have bought. I am much happier with the CT6 all around. The XTS is a great value, but it may not be Cadillac's best.

  3. Dean Walter 2025-05-06

I originally wanted a CT-6, as I had a 2011 DTS. To find the perfect sedan for my wife, we sat in many different models. Although we had not considered an XTS, we decided to look at all models again, as we have been loyal Cadillac owners since 1971. While I understand that there is no comparison between imports and the XTS, the price point, finish, and hi-tech components of the XTS made me take a closer look. When my wife said, 'I like that one,' and Edmonds had already provided me with a quote, we purchased the XTS. It is a great car and drives almost as smoothly as my previous DTS's and DeVilles. I gave road noise a poor grade on the survey, but the noise and harsh ride were totally the fault of the tires. The original equipment tires provided great stability and drive characteristics, but I care nothing about that. After hearing similar complaints from other Cadillac owners about tires, I requested that the dealer replace them with a different brand of non-performance tires. This was done at no charge to me, and my ride is now restored. We truly like the car, and the warranty and free service are equal or better than the imports. The engine and drivetrain are well-proven. It's a nice Cadillac with nice pricing. Update June 2018: We've been on several trips with the XTS, and it has performed wonderfully. The highway mileage at 73 MPH is 29.7-31.2. The car is extremely responsive for a non-turbo V6, and there has never been any issue with lack of power for any purpose. The electronics are faultless, and the handling is great. I had it serviced by an out-of-state dealership, and it was a very pleasant experience with no cost. The only small cons are that the trunk size is smaller than a DTS, and we carry a small scooter as well as luggage in the trunk. Perhaps it is my age, or just maybe the seats could be a little softer. Beyond that, it's a great car for us, and we have honestly enjoyed it since purchase.

  4. Malachi McGlynn 2025-03-22

I love my car! I've had it for 3 months now. When I bought it, it was certified used with 23k miles. The interior is absolutely gorgeous. The rear view mirror is like a jewel and the seats and technology package were unexpectedly attractive. The touchscreen and touch sound control do away with buttons, so the dash is clean and lean. There are little cubbies that are perfect for sunglasses, change, and even a Samsung smartphone (unfortunately not an iPhone X). They fit snugly inside the conveniently secretive cubby. While it doesn't quite have the agility of my former BMW 325i, it comes pretty close, and for a sedan, that's amazing! The gas mileage is what I expected, approximately 21-22 mpg, which is about the same as another former midsized sedan, a Lincoln MKS. The ride is quiet and smooth and there is adequate trunk space. Overall, it's a very comfortable car with just the right amount of luxury.

  5. Gust Crooks 2025-03-12

I was able to purchase this sedan in May 2020 with only 22k miles and for under $23k, thanks to the high demand for sedans driving prices lower. It was a great deal, with only 40% of the sticker price as a year old model. The car comfortably fits two car seats and an adult in the back, and has heated/cooled front seats, navigation, and a smooth and quiet ride. There is tons of room for everyone and a massive trunk. I have driven it 10k miles in 7 months and have averaged 26mpg total. As my commuter car, it is nice to remote start before work and after. Passing on rural KS 2 lane blacktop is easy, and with cruise control, it is easy to maintain a quiet and smooth ride, even at high speeds. Although the car market has gone crazy, I was able to trade it in and make 6k over what I paid. I bought a brand new Toyota Avalon hybrid with far more safety features and 42mpg. While the Cadillac was still a great car, I had the chance to improve my garage.
