2020 Cadillac Xt4 problems
The Cadillac XT4 is a subcompact luxury crossover SUV manufactured by General Motors since 2018 under the luxury Cadillac marque.
Overview
The XT4 (short for "Crossover Touring 4") is Cadillac's second crossover SUV, slotting below the mid-size Cadillac XT5, serving as the luxury equivalent to the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain. It is the third model to use Cadillac's new alphanumeric naming scheme (after the CT6 and XT5), and the second of three vehicles Cadillac is introducing in the Crossover Touring (XT) series, the third being the mid-sized three-row XT6 that debuted in 2019 as a 2020 model. It utilizes GM's E2 platform, shared with the Chevrolet Malibu and Opel Insignia/Buick Regal.
Cadillac introduced a teaser for the XT4 during a telecast of the 90th Academy Awards on March 4, 2018, and it made its official debut at the 2018 New York Auto Show on March 27, 2018. Cadillac started taking customer pre-orders shortly following the New York debut.
The XT4 is produced at GM's Fairfax Assembly plant, and went on sale in the fall of 2018 as a 2019 model. The Chinese-market XT4 is manufactured in Shanghai by SAIC-GM.

Common 2020 Cadillac Xt4 problems
The Cadillac XT4, a subcompact luxury crossover introduced in 2019, has been identified as one of the least satisfying vehicles to own, according to a Consumer Reports study. The study ranks new vehicles based on owner satisfaction, taking into account road test scores and reliability data. The XT4 ranked ninth among the ten least satisfying vehicles, with only 47% of owners indicating they would repurchase the vehicle. This is significantly lower than the top-performing vehicle in the small crossover category, the Volvo XC40, which had 75% of owners expressing their intent to buy it again.
The primary issues reported by XT4 owners include poor reliability, value for money, and comfort/build quality. The 2019 model year, the only one with available data, received a predicted owner satisfaction rating of 1/5. Reliability was a significant concern, with owners giving it a score of 33 out of 100, indicating dissatisfaction with the vehicle's dependability. Comfort and build quality also received low scores, with a rating of 58 out of 100, suggesting that the XT4's interior and overall construction did not meet owner expectations.
Despite these concerns, the XT4 received positive feedback for its exterior and interior styling, with owners awarding it a score of 92 out of 100 in this category. This suggests that while the vehicle may have issues in other areas, its appearance and design are generally well-regarded by owners.
In terms of specific mechanical problems, some XT4 owners have reported issues with the transmission, particularly in the early production models.
The 2020 Cadillac XT4 is expected to have average reliability when compared to other new cars, based on limited data from the XT4 and the Cadillac brand scores. This suggests that while the XT4 may have had initial issues, the 2020 model year may be more reliable.
In summary, the Cadillac XT4 has faced criticism from owners for its poor reliability, value for money, and comfort/build quality. While the vehicle has received positive feedback for its exterior and interior styling, these issues have contributed to the XT4 being ranked among the least satisfying vehicles to own. However, the 2020 model year may offer improved reliability compared to earlier production models.

Appointment to have it repaired again. I traded the vehicle off because of this issue. I felt it to be unsafe and it would soon be out of warranty. Jay, the salesperson at Ziegler Buick that sold me the new Buick Envision told me that Cadillac XT 4s all have that issue and made reference to the fact is it a defect of purpose to keep customers paying to have it fixed every year. I traded my ATS for the XT4 to get a little more cargo volume without sacrificing space. The powertrain is state-of-the-art, featuring a BAS stop-start, cylinder-shut-off, turbo, DOHC, direct injection, 9-speed transmission, and in my case, AWD. When driving on the interstate at 70 mph, I get a repeatable 30 mpg. The cabin is quiet, with minimal wind and tire noise. The XT4 handles well on the highway, even when dealing with grooves from studded tires, and AWD is perfect for drives in the Cascades. The interior is nicely styled, with comfortable seats. I find the new CUE system to be intuitive, and I appreciate that the heated steering wheel and seats turn on automatically when it's cold.
-
You may find that the vehicle is a little underpowered and overgeared.

It's great to hear about your experience with the ATS Coupe and your love for its sportiness and handling. It sounds like you had a tough decision to make when your lease was up, but it's wonderful that you found the XT4 to be a great fit for you. The 2.0T engine is definitely a plus, and it's great to hear that the XT4 doesn't have that heavy feeling that larger SUVs often have. The generous interior space and huge rear leg room are also impressive features. It's great to know that the XT4 Premium Luxury comes with many safety features as standard. Overall, it sounds like the XT4 is a fantastic vehicle for two to travel in, with plenty of cargo space. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!
-
The engine is a bit noisy, but you don't hear it in the cabin. The technology in this vehicle is very impressive, including Wi-Fi capability, blind spot alert, and auto Start/Stop.
-
The ride is excellent and the controls are intuitive. Despite having only ten days, I can confidently say that the seats are comfortable and the acceleration is just right. While there is some issue with water collecting on the front door wells after rain, I have already arranged for the dealer to take a look. It is worth noting that the vehicle does not come with a spare tire, but this is a minor concern. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase.

I recently leased a Premium Luxury XT4 after driving a Lexus for the past 12 years. Unfortunately, my car died on me at 300 miles with a Service Transmission message. However, the dealer was very helpful in getting me a loaner car that same night. It turned out to be a sensor issue, and they found that many of the wires had been pinched and/or misrouted. I had been experiencing some issues with the parking sensors and cameras coming on at random times. Although they corrected the wiring which fixed the transmission issue, the parking sensors continue to come on at random times. The dealership even took out a new car and was able to duplicate the same problem. They are currently working with Cadillac to see if the problem can be resolved with a software update. Not only do the front parking sensors come on at random times, but the pedestrian sensor also comes on randomly - like on a major freeway where there are no pedestrians. My phone also continues to unsync, and I have to delete everything to get it to pair again. This means I often do not have a phone that will work with my car. My gas mileage has been around 22 in the city and 29 when I did a road trip. Although there are things I like about my car, I would not recommend it to anyone else until they manage to get all of the bugs worked out of the sensors. I have an expectation that everything should work as expected when paying this much for a new car.

I recently purchased a 2019 XT4 Sport with 11,500 miles on it. While it looks great, the cost can add up with additional package levels. Mine cost $48,500 and does not include heads up display, adaptive cruise control, or navigation. My main concern is the engine noise during acceleration and a hum at 40 and 60 mph. It has a sporty feel but lacks the luxury ride that I was hoping for. It seems to fall in an awkward zone of trying to be both sporty and luxurious but not quite hitting the mark on either. The only standout feature is that it fits easily into my garage. It may not be the most comfortable option for long road trips. I am considering trading it in for a Genesis GV80 or Jeep Wagoneer when they become available. Ultimately, this experience has convinced me to explore other options beyond Cadillacs.

I purchased this vehicle used with only 5900 miles on it and it's fully loaded. I absolutely love it! The driving experience is so much fun. I've had the car for just over a year now and the only issue I had was a bad SD card, but the dealer replaced it and it seems fine now. My only wish is for better road feel while in Touring mode. The electric steering is the culprit here. My Chrysler 300 has the ability to adjust the steering feel, I wish the Caddy did too. The CUE system is okay, but sadly it doesn't read back incoming texts like the Uconnect system does. Overall, it's a great vehicle and outstanding in the snow thanks to the double clutch AWD system. When I first bought it, I caught myself apologizing to people for buying a Cadillac, but finally, I have stopped doing that. I deserve it and appreciate it. Outside of oil changes, everything is good and I do love the color combo - black exterior with Sedona interior. Update: I traded in the XT4 in June. The transmission was getting stuck in either 2nd or 3rd gear quite a bit, and it was going to come out of warranty in 10/22. I'm a bit disappointed, but I still love its looks and ease of getting in and out. Down the road, I will consider a sport model with 18

The driver airbag in the 2019 Cadillac XT4 has been unavailable since May 10, 2019, which is completely unacceptable. Despite waiting for over 5 months, the part is still not available. This lack of availability is not a reflection of the car's reliability. As a paying customer, it is frustrating to be unable to use the car while continuing to make payments and pay for insurance. It is important for the Cadillac dealership to take action and address this issue promptly. A prompt resolution will help to restore confidence in the brand and ensure customer satisfaction.

The car's suspension requires improvement as it fails to absorb even the slightest bumps on the road, making the ride uncomfortable. This issue was observed and reported after trading the car at 15000 miles.
