  • Summary: The "Vehicle Not in Park" warning message is a safety feature designed to prevent accidents and injuries. It's a standard safety feature in most modern vehicles, including the Dodge Charger. Here's what it's intended to do: When the vehicle is shifted out of Park (P) and the transmission is not fully engaged, the system will display a "Vehicle Not in Park" warning message on the dashboard. This message is triggered by the vehicle's Transmission Control Module (TCM) or Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system, which monitors the vehicle's gear position and transmission status. The purpose of this warning is to alert the driver that the vehicle is not properly secured and may roll or move unexpectedly, potentially causing an accident or injury. This can happen when: The parking brake is not engaged: If the parking brake is not fully engaged or is released before shifting into gear, the system will detect this and display the warning message. The transmission is not fully engaged: If the transmission is not fully engaged in gear, such as when shifting from Park to Reverse or Drive, the system will detect this and display the warning message. The vehicle is not properly positioned: If the vehicle is not properly positioned on a level surface or on a slope, the system may detect this and display the warning message. To resolve the "Vehicle Not in Park" issue on your Dodge Charger: Ensure the parking brake is fully engaged. Check that the transmission is fully engaged in gear (e.g., Park, Reverse, Drive). Make sure the vehicle is properly positioned on a level surface or adjust it to a flat surface. The car is in park but will not turn off instead it runs until it decides it wants to turn off which can take several hours. This is a safety concern and issue that needs to resolved we pay to much money on these vehicles to deal with crappy problems due to bad mechanical issues and features

  • VIN: 2C3CDXJG8DH
  • Components: POWER TRAIN
  • Summary: The shifter module that was replaced under recall S27/NHTSA 16V-240 in August of 2016 started shifting itself into sport mode automatically and without warning in November of 2022. I took my car to James River Chrysler Dodge in Ozark, Mo in November to have the shifter module replaced. The dealership could not find a new Mopar shifter module because Chrysler stopped making them. There is no after market shifter modules available for this specific shifter module so James River Chrysler placed a used shifter module in my car. The used shifter module is automatically shifting the car into a lower sports mode gear without warning also which is a safety hazard for me, my family, and other individuals who are traveling in a proximity around me. I cannot purchase a new Mopar or after market shifter module for my car because no one is manufacturing this part. I want to report this safety hazard because there are numerous Dodge Chargers on the road that will potentially have the same situation as me in the very near future. Can Chrysler be held accountable to manufacture the shifter module to keep everyone safe on the roads? Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2021-11-03
  • VIN: 2C3CDXCT7DH
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: While driving on the interstate at a high rate of speed the MDS engaged and suddenly, the engine dies. I am unable to accelerate and have to coast across 3 lanes of traffic to reach the emergency lane. The timing chain tensioner and timing chain guides had broken into multiple pieces and the timing chain was also broken. The failure of the timing components resulted in warped values, bent push rods and catastrophic engine failure. This left me sitting in my car on the side of the interstate for several hours in the dark. There were no warning lamps or any problems with how the engine had operated before it suddenly died. All parts that have been removed from the car have been kept for inspection. There is a recall for the same OEM timing components failing and causing sudden engine failure for 2009-2012 Dodge Chargers. Dodge used the same timing tensioner, timing arm guide, and timing chains in Chargers built from 2009 to 2019. Why would the recall be extended to all years that used these parts. If they had recalled all the years those parts were used my car engine would not quit suddenly at 80mph and I have to coast across three lanes of traffic or sit in the emergency for hours waiting on a ride. .

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2021-10-13
  • VIN: 2c3cdxbg6dh
  • Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
  • Summary: Gas tank and fuel pumps are located under passenger seat. The primary fuel pump is located on rear passenger side. I have been getting a gas smell after fueling. I thought maybe some gas spilled or it was my fuel filler neck so I had it checked perfectly fine. So I fueled again today and smelled gas. Lifted rear seat and noticed crack on black plastic cover. Removed and a pool of gas on top of driver side fuel pump. Researched online and found several charger challenger Chrysler owners with the same exact issues. I also found where a minor accident caused the death of 4 people car went up in flames. My kids sit in this back seat and it is very very alarming. I'm surprised that there is no recall on this as of yet. It's a well known issue amongst owner just Google fuel pooling on fuel pump. Shoot there's even a manufacturer making reinforced covers so this doesn't happen. What happens is the weight from sitting in the back seat smashes on the covers and the connectors causing the plastic fuel pump to crack after a while also possibly damaging the connectors. This is a very expensive fix it not deadly. The car almost becomes not drivable. I hope this gets addressed and all owners receive compensation.

Negative 2013 Dodge Charger car reviews

I had a very difficult experience with my Fiat Chrysler vehicle. Unfortunately, my car was in the shop for more than 70 days within an 8 month timeframe and I was left stranded on the side of the road four different times. Despite having work completed under warranty by three different certified dealerships, I had more than 10 different case managers at Chrysler Customer Care with varying levels of competence. While some of the representatives were helpful, others suggested solutions that were not practical. I had to have a recall issue re-repaired multiple times due to poor workmanship, which caused additional damages. Currently, a Dodge dealership is offering me only $16,000 for a car I paid $42,000 for. I also had to pay to replace my battery when they left my lights on waiting for repair. Additionally, there were issues with the rental car reimbursement, which resulted in me being put on a

I purchased the vehicle in March and enjoyed driving it until the transmission failed at 5,000 miles. Despite the delay in receiving a new transmission, I remained confident in Chrysler's ability to resolve the issue. The car was in the shop for a total of 3 months, but I am pleased to report that it has since been repurchased by Chrysler.

The 11-14 models are often considered part of the same generation as the 15-23 models, but they are actually different cars with unique handling, transmissions, and drivetrains. I personally drove my 13 R/T Road & Track with Scat Pack Stage 1 for 9 years and 105k miles, and I only experienced one issue with a bad O2 sensor and humidity sensor. If you want to ensure your car lasts a long time, I recommend using full synthetic oil and 91+ Octane, which will give you an average of 22 MPG. Unfortunately, my car was totaled after being T-boned by someone running a red light. I ended up

Great car! It could be even better with a nicer shifter bezel and instrumentation. It actually gets great MPG on highway driving and has a fantastic sound system from Harmon Kardon. If you're driving year-round, definitely invest in some good all-season tires.

I've been a Dodge/Mopar fan since I was 16 years old, so I knew I would own this car when it came out. However, like any great love, it's not always sunshine and roses. I'm almost at 94,000 miles now on this car and some problems have started to arise. The Bluetooth needed to be replaced, the water pump blew, the dash vent pulled loose, and the ventilated seats sometimes refuse to work. These issues, combined with the gas mileage, have led some people to question why I still own it. But then I let them take it for a spin! When the V8 Hemi kicks in and the AWD grabs the corners, they understand why I keep it. There's plenty of room for me, my wife, and kids, and we can even play a DVD if we're sitting somewhere. The car has lots of little convenience extras and is very comfortable. It has become my all-year-round car! Great in the snow, fun on dry roads, and my 16 and 17-year-old sons love it too, when I let them take it! I also bought a 2015 Charger with the V6, which was a better car for driving around for work (until some drunk totalled it while it was parked outside my house!). But, I wouldn't give up my V8 Hemi 2013 Charger! The repair costs may reach a point where it doesn't make sense to keep it, but hopefully, that is years and years away. I do wish Dodge offered a better/longer warranty. Three years/36000 miles is ridiculous given car prices and when compared to every other vehicle manufacturer. Also, I wish the resale/trade values weren't so low. My wife's 2013 Kia Optima has a higher trade value than my Charger! So, there's a lot of good, some bad, but nothing about this car is ugly!

I don't know if it's just me, but I felt a bit crazy trading in my MB GLK350 for a Dodge. However, I can confidently say that it was definitely worth it. The car is built just as solidly as my MB, but with better technology and a lot more personality. I hope I never have to test the service, but so far, I'm really happy with my purchase. With the rebates, I was able to get this car for $30.5K. It has plenty of pickup and I haven't noticed any issues with the 5-speed transmission.

I purchased this car with 44k miles and owned it until it unfortunately got wrecked at around 90k miles. However, during my ownership, it ran perfectly and I believe it could have easily gone another 10k miles without any issues. The car was always smooth and easy to maintain. At around 60k miles, there was a recall on the computer in the car, which the dealer fixed for free. After the repair, the car would occasionally time out after 30 minutes to 2 hours and start jerking as if it was going to break down. I found out that it was the computer and spark plugs that needed to be changed, which cost me $400 at Dodge. If you experience this issue, I highly recommend taking it to Dodge. Although I went to three mechanics before finding the solution, Dodge did not charge me for the diagnostic since it was the computer at around 60k miles. After the repair, I never had any issues with the car again. I truly loved this car, it was my first true love. Even after owning an Audi A4 and a Chrysler 200, my heart will always be with this car. I owned it for 5 years, from 2016 to 2021.
