Overview
The XT4 (short for "Crossover Touring 4") is Cadillac's second crossover SUV, slotting below the mid-size Cadillac XT5, serving as the luxury equivalent to the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain. It is the third model to use Cadillac's new alphanumeric naming scheme (after the CT6 and XT5), and the second of three vehicles Cadillac is introducing in the Crossover Touring (XT) series, the third being the mid-sized three-row XT6 that debuted in 2019 as a 2020 model. It utilizes GM's E2 platform, shared with the Chevrolet Malibu and Opel Insignia/Buick Regal.
Cadillac introduced a teaser for the XT4 during a telecast of the 90th Academy Awards on March 4, 2018, and it made its official debut at the 2018 New York Auto Show on March 27, 2018. Cadillac started taking customer pre-orders shortly following the New York debut.
The XT4 is produced at GM's Fairfax Assembly plant, and went on sale in the fall of 2018 as a 2019 model. The Chinese-market XT4 is manufactured in Shanghai by SAIC-GM.

- Summary: On four occasions now, the car slammed on the brakes as if the collision detection system was going off. Someone did almost hit me from behind as they needed to slam on their brakes due to my cars collision system going off when not supposed to. This has been well documented with Cadillac and the leased vehicle has been back in the shop 4 months out of the year we owned it. It is a major safety issue and am very concerned it will happen at a time that may cause a bad accident, injury or loss of life if something is not done. Cadillac has replaced many electrical parts and tells us it is fixed when in fact it is not and it happened again this week and will be going back to the shop for the 5th time next week.

- Summary: On June 13th 2024, and on July 30th 2024, while driving on highway my Cadillac XT4 suddenly jerked forward as if I had been struck from behind by another vehicle. The vehicle seemed to have lost all power and appeared to stall in the lanes of the highway. This created a very dangerous situation, causing vehicles behind me to swerve in order to avoid a collision. Be advised that the vehicle did not turn off, because I didn’t have to restart it, however it felt like it did. This situation could have caused myself, and passengers to be injured or killed, especially if a large truck was behind me and unable to stop. Luckily I was able to steer the vehicle onto the shoulder off the highway.

- Summary: Driving to a local car wash, I stopped at a traffic light. When I tried to accelerate the transmission warning and power reduction waring flashed on HUD. I could not drive or place the car in reverse, the car had lost all its mobility. I had to let the car coast downhill to pull the car to the side of a busy street. I was fortunate this did not happen on a congested highway, but regardless the inability to move a car off a busy street is an extreme safety hazard. The vehicle needed towed, and after 31 one days was returned to me, four days later while on the highway bolts were falling off the undercarriage of the vehicle. Upon further inspection the rear exhaust bracket had fallen off and was missing 3 bolts.

- Summary: During the two winter seasons I owned the Cadillac XT4 the Stabilitrack feature of the car malfunctioned every time it freezes outside and the check engine light came in. It was still under warranty and it was repaired last year at Foley Cadillac in Northbrook, IL and this year the light came on again warning of a malfunction of the same issue and I called to make an. Appointment to have it repaired again. I traded the vehicle off because of this issue. I felt it to be unsafe and it would soon be out of warranty. Jay, the salesperson at Ziegler Buick that sold me the new Buick Envision told me that Cadillac XT 4s all have that issue and made reference to the fact is it a defect of purpose to keep customers paying to have it fixed every year. While this is here say, I am more inclined to believe it. The approximate date below is for this last episode and is approx. I don't remember the exact date.

- Summary: The throttle and accelerator pedal is very HOT- highly sensitive, resulting in jerky lunging upon start off in 1st gear from a dead or 1 mph stop. The vehicle has been into the dealer 2 times for this issue with the same repair comments, vehicle meets all factory specs and all XT 4 react this way- well that's not safe. If that's the case, then this is a design defect which is unsafe as the accelerator pedal reacts to quickly with a non-smooth action and lunging which could cause a rear end collision. Other car evaluators have also indicated the XT6 has a jerky accelerator, just like what I am reporting. It may be the TPS -Throttle Position sensor in combination with the APS-Accelerator Position sensor. Sometimes it is so violent it throws occupants backward into the seats. Dealer says within spec. GM needs to solve this issue.

- Summary: The engine started to leak oil, coming down the passenger side of the motor. This was around at 22,000 miles. The dealer says that this is a leaking intake manifold gasket. It has taken them 3 separate repairs to fix this issue. I feel that my engine warranty from Cadillac should be extended, past the 5yr 60k powertrain warranty. We have had this vehicle now for 4 years, and we don't drive it alot. As of this writing 11/21/2023 the vehicle has around 29,000 miles on it. It appears that it is leaking again, so it will be going back into the dealer again.

We were unaware that the vehicle did no have this now basic feature and almost bumped into another vehicle. This feature was in all other years of this vehicle and GM decided to leave it out without notifying purchasers of this. Why would any major manufacturer make a vehicle less safe than pervious versions. GM needs to retrofit all models of the 2024 XT4 with Front Parking Assist to ensure a child or other object in front of the car does not get run over.

We purchased this car a year ago and I must say, it is very underrated compared to German and Japanese luxury vehicles. The interior is luxurious and comfortable for both the driver and passenger. The infotainment screen is well-organized and very responsive, while the camera quality is crystal-clear. The sleek exterior is easily recognizable in a parking lot. Additionally, the XT4 drives very well and the engine sounds powerful with amazing performance. The only cons are that the backseats don't recline and feel a bit uncomfortable, but it's not a deal breaker. The transmission doesn't have smooth transitions between gears at certain speeds and it takes a second for the turbo charge to activate when accelerating. Overall, the XT4 is a car that should definitely be on your radar if you're looking for a luxury SUV.

The driver airbag in the 2019 Cadillac XT4 has been unavailable since May 10, 2019, which is completely unacceptable. Despite waiting for over 5 months, the part is still not available. This lack of availability is not a reflection of the car's reliability. As a paying customer, it is frustrating to be unable to use the car while continuing to make payments and pay for insurance. It is important for the Cadillac dealership to take action and address this issue promptly. A prompt resolution will help to restore confidence in the brand and ensure customer satisfaction.

Beautiful in and out! However, the ride is not up to par. I have always driven a Toyota Sienna and they are much better all around, especially in terms of ride, room, and seats. If I had to do it over again, I would probably go back to a Toyota Sienna. I bought this one because of the color and mileage - a 2022 model with just 3000 miles.

I recently purchased this car after years of driving less expensive models. While the car itself is small and responsive, I have found the interior buttons and controls to be confusing. Additionally, as someone who is 6ft and somewhat overweight, I have had difficulty getting in and out of the driver's seat without bumping my head each time. While this has been a big negative for me, it may not be an issue for others. Overall, I would suggest considering other options before making a purchase.

If you previously owned an XT5, you may be disappointed with this one. I was surprised by the difference in the ride quality, as every small bump on the road feels like a big one. It's understandable why the official Cadillac logo is not used on it, as it doesn't quite live up to the Cadillac standard. It may feel more like a tricked-out Chevy than a true Cadillac.
