2010 Audi Q7 problems
The Audi Q7 is a crossover SUV made by the German manufacturer Audi, unveiled in September 2005 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Production of this seven-seater SUV began in the autumn of 2005 at the Volkswagen Bratislava Plant in Bratislava, Slovakia.
The Q7 was the first SUV sold by Audi and went on sale in 2006. Later, Audi's second SUV, the Q5, was unveiled as a 2009 model. Audi has since unveiled a third SUV model, the Q3, which went on sale in the third quarter of 2011, and a fourth SUV model, the Q2, which went on sale in November 2016. The Q7 shares a Volkswagen Group MLB platform and chassis with the Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus, Porsche Cayenne and the Volkswagen Touareg.
The Q7 is the second largest vehicle from Audi, after its exterior size was being surpassed by the Q6 since 2022. While the Q7 has been the flagship SUV in Audi's product portfolio, a top-of-the-line model with a lower roof, called the Audi Q8, was released in 2018.
It was one of the vehicles involved in the Volkswagen emissions scandal, with the company ordered to buy back some of the affected cars manufactured between 2009 and 2012. The Q7 is also subject to hundreds of NTSB complaints with many relating to potentially catastrophic engine failure issues, and a class-action lawsuit related to squealing brakes.

Common 2010 Audi Q7 problems
The Audi Q7 2010 is known for a few common problems that can affect its performance and reliability. Here are some of the most frequently reported issues and their details:
- Brake Pedal Pulsing: The brake pedal can pulse when you apply pressure, which is often caused by worn or damaged front brake discs. This issue affects many Audi Q7 models, and the recommended solution is to replace all four brake discs and check the brake pads for excessive wear.
- Vehicle Tilt: The car may sit unevenly or have a lower ride height due to residual pressure holding valves becoming stuck in the closed position. Audi has released a service bulletin for testing these valves, and if they fail, you can order replacements directly from parts suppliers.
- Clicking Noise When Turning: This problem is usually caused by damaged CV joints, often due to CV boots cracking and leaking. Installing new CV boots as soon as you notice the problem is the recommended solution. However, if the noise is coming from the CV joint itself, you may need to order a new axle.
- Handling Issues: The overall handling of the car can feel off, with a general drop in performance. This issue is often caused by deteriorating steering system, suspension, and subframe bushings and mountings. Checking and replacing these parts as needed can help improve the car's handling.
- Excessive Tyre Wear: The Audi Q7 is known for eating through tyres quickly, often requiring replacement far too often. This issue has led to a recall, and the recommended solution is to replace the entire front head restraints. Downsizing the wheel size to the 18-inch version can also help improve ride comfort and reduce tyre wear.
- Water Stains In Car: Seats can become damp due to water stains, which can be caused by various issues such as leaking sunroofs or clogged drainage channels. Checking and fixing these issues can help prevent water stains from occurring .
- Power-Operated Tailgate: The power-operated tailgate may close abruptly and unexpectedly following opening using the power function. This issue has led to a recall, and it is essential to ensure that all remedial work has been carried out by a local Audi dealer.
- Engine Oil Entering Brake Servo: In isolated instances, engine oil may enter the brake servo via the vacuum feed line, causing the brake servo diaphragm to rupture and loss of brake servo assistance. Check with your local Audi dealer that all remedial work has been carried out.
It is important to note that these issues may not affect all Audi Q7 2010 models, but they are common problems that have been reported by owners. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent or address these issues, ensuring the car's reliability and longevity.

- Summary: MY 2010 AUDI Q7 WITH 59K MILES ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT WAS STARTING PRETTY ROUGH. I BROUGHT IT 200 YARDS UP THE STREET TO MY LOCAL GARAGE AND THEY SAID IT'S A BIGGER DEAL AND TO BRING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME IT'S A TIMING CHAIN ISSUE AND I LOOKED IT UP AND SAW THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, RECALL, AND SETTLEMENT ON MOST AUDI'S - BUT SEEMED TO EXCLUDE Q7. RESEARCHING, I FOUND OUT AUDI DECIDED IN 2008 TO CHANGE THEIR TIMING CHAIN. EVEN THO I SHOWED THEM THE MAINTENANCE RECORDS OF OIL CHANGES LESS THAN 10K MILES, THEY DECLINED TO PICK UP THE COST OF THE REPAIR.THIS IS CLEARLY A RECALL ISSUE.
POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-03-11
- VIN: WA1LYAFE3AD
- Components: POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: MY 2010 AUDI Q7 HAS A SERIOUS BRAKING ISSUE. WHEN THE ENGINE IS STARTED, IF YOU PUT THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE, IT WILL ROLL FORWARD AND THE BRAKE WILL NOT STOP THE ROLLING. YOU MUST WAIT ROUGHLY 1 MINUTE FOR THE VEHICLE TO NOT ROLL. THE TIME IS SHORTER IN THE SUMMER, AND LONGER IN THE WINTER. THE BRAKES DO NOT WORK, AND IT IS AS IF THE COMPUTER HAS A GLITCH. I WILL DEPRESS THE BRAKE, AND THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL FORWARD ABOUT 10 FEET. THIS HAPPENS IN BOTH REVERSE AND FORWARD. MY CONCERN IS THAT ONE COULD START THE CAR, IMMEDIATELY PUT IT INTO GEAR, AND HIT A PENDESTRIAN, CHILD, OR OTHER PROPERTY AND NOT BE ABLE TO STOP THE CAR UNLESS THEY INTUITIVELY KNOW TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL OR PARK, WHICH MOST DRIVERS WILL NOT DO. I AM WILLING TO SHOW THIS TO AN NHTSA REPRESENTATIVE. I BELIEVE THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND AUDI NEEDS TO RECALL THESE CARS FOR A PROPER FIX. I CALLED AUDI'S NORTH AMERICAN HOTLINE TO REPORT THIS, AND THE RECEPTIONIST DID NOT PUT ME IN TOUCH WITH A MANAGER OR A SAFETY REPRESENTATIVE. SHE SAID THE CAR NEEDS TO GO TO THE SHOP AND BE REPAIRED. MY AUTO MECHANICS SAY THEY CAN'T REPAIR THIS, AND IT IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM. AUDI NORTH AMERICA STAFF SHOULD HAVE TAKEN MY INFORMATION, PASSED IT TO A MANAGER, AND CONTACTED ME, BUT THEY REFUSED TO, SAYING IT WAS A MECHANICAL ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE. I HAVE NO OTHER OPTIONS BUT TO CONTACT NHTSA. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR SINCE 2014, I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM THEN, AND ADAPTED TO THIS PROBLEM. I SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU MUCH SOONER THAN NOW. I APOLOGIZE. I KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM, BUT IF IT IS IN ANY OTHER AUDIS, THERE MAY BE PEDESTRIAN INJURIES OR DEATHS.

- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: CAR DECELERATES RAPIDLY WHILE DRIVING EVEN THROUGH YOU HAVE PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR. THEN FEW JERKS HAPPEN AND CAR RETURNS BACK TO NORMAL ACCELERATION. THIS WHOLE PROCESS REPEATS INTERMITTENTLY. THIS FIRST HAPPENED ON A BUSY FREEWAY. THEN THIS HAS BEEN REPEATING FREQUENTLY. AUDI IS UNABLE TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM AND ARE SUGGESTING REPLACING THE WHOLE FUEL SYSTEM WHICH MAY POTENTIALLY FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY ARE NOT SURE. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS A MANUFACTURING ISSUE WHICH CAN START HAPPENING TO OTHER VEHICLES. BUT THIS IS DEFINITELY A DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE.

VISIBILITY PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-09-02
- VIN: WA1VMAFE0AD
- Components: VISIBILITY
- Summary: MY FAMILY VEHICLE IS A 2010 AUDI Q7 TDI, PRESTIGE EDITION. THIS IS THE VEHICLE WE ALWAYS TAKE WITH THE CHILDREN, AGES 1 AND 2. RECENTLY, WE HAD AN UNKNOWN BATTERY DRAIN, AND SO TODAY I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE SERVICED. APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE, I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT INSIDE THE VEHICLE. I THEN REALIZED THE SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE AND THERE WAS GLASS EVERYWHERE. THERE WERE NO ROCKS, AND ONLY A FEW VEHICLES A SAFE DISTANCE AHEAD OF ME - EVEN SO, A ROCK WOULD HAVE HAD TO TRAVEL STRAIGHT UP AND THEN STRAIGHT DOWN TO SHATTER THE SUNROOF IN THIS MANNER. THERE WERE NO BRIDGES OR UNDERPASSES. I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR, DESPITE HAVING SHATTERED GLASS ALL OVER MYSELF, IN MY HAIR, COFFEE MUG, ETC. THIS IS PROBABLY THE ONLY TIME I'VE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE WITHOUT THE CHILDREN, AND AM ABSOLUTELY THANKFUL THEY WERE NOT IN THE VEHICLE AS BOTH CAR SEATS WERE COVERED IN GLASS. THE CAR WILL HAVE TO BE DETAILED BEFORE THEY CAN RIDE IN IT AGAIN DUE TO THE SHEER VOLUME OF BROKEN GLASS. I TOOK PHOTOS OF THE DAMAGE, AND THE REMAINING GLASS BENDED UPWARD ON THE EDGE OF THE DAMAGE - INDICATING IT BROKE FROM THE INSIDE-OUT. ONE DOES AS MUCH RESEARCH AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE BEFORE PURCHASING A FAMILY VEHICLE BUT AN EXPLODING SUNROOF (PANORAMIC) IS NOT SOMETHING ONE WOULD ANTICIPATE. THIS SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED - NOT EVEN ONCE - AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. *TR
FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2013-06-14
- VIN: WA1MMAFE6AD
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,ENGINE
- Summary: I HAVE AN AUDI Q7 2010. JUNE 2013, MY HUSBAND, 4 YR OLD SON AND I WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. THE CAR STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND DECELERATED TO 20 MILES PER HOUR. MY HUSBAND PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL OVER AND OVER AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SPEED UP. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS HURT, HOWEVER WE WERE VERY SCARED. WE WERE ABLE TO PULL TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND MAKE IT TO THE AUDI DEALERSHIP CLOSE BY. JANUARY 2014, I WAS HEADING TO PICK UP MY SON FROM SCHOOL AND THE CAR STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY AGAIN- THIS TIME WORSE THEN BEFORE AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I WAS STUCK. THE POLICE WERE CALLED BECAUSE I WAS NOT IN A SAFE PLACE AND THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. DEALER STATED THAT THEY FOUND FAULT IN THE FUEL SYSTEM, METAL SHAVINGS IN THE FUEL FILTER IN ADDITIONAL TO LOW FUEL PRESSURE. ALSO CONFIRMED METAL SHAVINGS IN THE N290 VALVE. THEY HAD TO GET AUTHORIZATION FROM GERMANY TO REPLACE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM. JULY 2014- YES IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME MY HUSBAND AND SON WERE HEADED TO GO ON A FATHER-SON CAMPING TRIP AND RIGHT BEFORE THEY LOST ALL CELL SERVICE THE CAR STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING AGAIN AND DECELERATED. MY HUSBAND LEFT THE CAR IN A SAFE PLACE AND HAD FRIEND COME GET THEM. THE CAR IS A LEMON. I HAVE ASKED THAT AUDI AMERICA TO REPLACE THE CAR AND THEY SENT A TECHNICIAN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER AGAIN AND HAS DECIDED THE CAR IS REPAIRED AND SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS IS AFTER THE MANAGER OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD AUDI AMERICA THAT THE CAR IS NOT SAFE AND RECOMMENDED THEY REPLACE THE CAR. HE SAID " I WOULDN'T LET MY WIFE DRIVE YOUR CAR". THIS HAPPENED TO A FRIEND OF MINE WITH AN AUDI Q7 AND AUDI HAD TO BE FORCED TO AN ARBITRATION. SHE ENDED UP WITH A NEW DIESEL AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN! SHE IS NOW ON HER 3RD AUDI. THIS TIME NO DIESEL. *TR

Congratulations on your purchase of the 2010 Q7 TDI! The build quality is excellent and the driving experience is truly impressive. It's great to hear that you're getting such good gas mileage, averaging over 23mpg for your first tankful, and even up to 27mpg on the interstate portion. The audio system is killer, although the MMI may take some getting used to. It's also fantastic to hear that there's no diesel smell or lag, and the engine noise is negligible. This could be a game changer for US consumer acceptance of diesel. While the third row seat is only suitable for kids or grandkids, the first two rows have plenty of room. The styling is also something to love. The only minor complaint is the low overhead when entering the driver's seat. Overall, it's a great vehicle that drives smaller than it is, with excellent performance and mileage.
-
For its size and weight, it definitely performs as if smaller and lighter, but the ride quality is smooth like its weight. The 4.2 Quattro with a set of blizzacks under it handles our Colorado mountain roads like a champ in the winter. The ergonomics are a pleasure on long trips. I just hit 118,000 miles with no major faults. My eight year old calls it grumpy, because it growls when you put your foot in it. It's definitely worth every penny!

Before purchasing my Audi Q7, I owned an Acura Mdx (2007) for 2 years. In my opinion, the Audi is a better looking car both inside and out. It also provides a smoother ride at highway speeds (75 mph and up for sure), feeling more like a sports sedan. The interior is top of its class as well. However, I must say that the Audi's navigation system is completely inferior to Acura's nav. The smaller screen size and the absence of Acura's joystick-like control make a huge difference. Audi's system is simply frustrating to use, and I would give it a D.

I have had my TDI for about a month and I love it! I consistently get about 25 mpg on my commute, a mixture of stop and go highway and side roads. It has great power and I love the panoramic sunroof with electric shade. I had a chance to use my air conditioned seats the other day and let me tell you, what a great feature! All in all, I am very happy with my purchase.

I've been driving BMWs for the past 15 years, but I wanted to try something new. I decided to take a look at Audi because I was drawn to its stylish design and reputation for quality. Here are some of the things I love about my Audi after driving it for 25,000 miles: the power is great, the layout is simple and effective, and there's plenty of space. I especially appreciate the easy-to-fold-down seats and the awesome interior and exterior looks. Plus, the full-time 4-wheel drive really grips the road.

This car has a lot of great features! It handles like a dream and is much more comfortable than most luxury SUVs. However, there are a few areas that could use improvement. For example, the interior has some cheap plastic components that can break easily, such as the footrest to the left of the brake pedal. Additionally, the doors are not as sturdy as those on BMW or Mercedes models. I experienced this firsthand when I broke an interior mechanism while opening the door on an icy morning. The cup holder placement above a non-sealed system is also a bit of a design flaw, as even a small spill can cause significant damage. Finally, the car does not perform well in snowy conditions and the fuel economy could be better. Overall, though, it's a great car with a lot of positives!

I see that you have experience with the LR3, X5, and Q7. It's unfortunate to hear that you've had some issues with the Q7. It sounds like you've had problems with the brakes wearing out quickly, rear lift gate issues, and the interior feeling cramped and uncomfortable. Additionally, it seems that the MPG is not as advertised based on your calculations. I understand that your teen kids are eager to get a new SUV, but it's good to hear that you have a reliable BMW sedan for local trips to ski resorts and beaches. I hope that you find the perfect SUV for your family when the lease is over.

Audi cars are reliable and of high quality, especially when they are brand new. However, like any car, they require maintenance and repairs over time. It is important to keep up with regular maintenance to ensure the car's longevity. While repairs can be expensive, it is worth investing in the car's upkeep to maintain its value and performance. With proper care, an Audi can provide a reliable and enjoyable driving experience for many years.

From the first few miles until now (10k), my brakes have been making a crazy noise. Despite the dealer not finding any problems, I was disappointed. However, I must say that the customer service at Audi was exceptional. They explained that the noise was due to the use of new materials in the braking pads, which can cause more noise than other cars. Although it was frustrating to hear, I appreciated their honesty and willingness to help. While I may consider other options in the future, I would still recommend Audi for their excellent customer service.
