2001 Audi Tt problems
The Audi TT is a production front-engine, 2-door, 2+2 sports coupé and roadster, manufactured and marketed by Audi from 1998 to 2023 across three generations.
For each of its three generations, the TT has been based on consecutive generations of Volkswagen's "Group A" platforms, starting with its "PQ34" fourth generation. The TT shares powertrain and suspension layouts with its platform mates, including the Audi A3, like a transversely mounted front-engine, powering front-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, and fully independent suspension using MacPherson struts in front.
The TT's first two generations were assembled by Audi's Hungarian subsidiary, one of the world's largest engine manufacturing plants, using bodyshells manufactured and painted at Audi's Ingolstadt plant and parts made entirely by the Hungarian factory for the third generation.
The last of the 662,762 Audi TTs was manufactured in November 2023.

What is the common issue with Audi TT?
There have been quite a few reports of TTs suffering from water leaks, usually caused by the drainage tubes for the roof blocking up and overflowing. These can lead to flooding inside the car that, if severe enough, can cause serious problems with the electrics.
Is the Audi TT a reliable car?
However, in our 2022 What Car? Reliability Survey, the TT placed second out of 15 cars in the coupés, convertibles and sports cars category. As a brand, Audi finished 21st out of 32 manufacturers.
How long do Audi TT engines last?
An Audi TT should have no problems lasting over 100,000 miles with most of them reaching 150,000 miles. There are some higher mileage examples out there that have gone further, but once the TT reaches 100,000 miles the reliability does begin to drop off and the maintenance costs increase to keep it on the road.
Is an Audi TT expensive to maintain?
Servicing costs are reasonable, too, and you can opt for Audi fixed price servicing for cars over three years old. At the time of writing, a regular TT with an engine of 2.0-litres or smaller costs £200 for an interim service and £345 for a major one, while the TT RS is the most costly at £260 and £395.

BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE AIRBAG MODULE. SPENT $1500 TO HAVE THE AIRBAG MODULE REPLACED ( THINK THIS WAS THE ISSUE ALL ALONG). AFTER HAVING THE AIRBAG MODULE REPLACED THE SEAT BELT LIGHT NO LONGER COMES ON. WAS TOLD IT IS THE CLUSTER. THE CAR HAS 37,000 MILES ON IT THIS WILL BE THE 4TH CLUSTER IN THE CAR. THE DEALER WANTS $1500 TO REPLACE AGAIN WITH NO GUARANTEE. AUDI ACCEPTS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND WILL PAY A FEW HUNDRED TOWARDS THE REPAIR. I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ABOUT $1200, I HAVE TRIED CONTACTING THE AUDI MANAGER (#248-754-3686) HANDLING THE CASE AND MY ATTORNEYS OFFICE HAS TRIED CONTACTING THEM SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO RETURN ANY CALLS. I AM WITHOUT A SEAT BELT WARNING INDICATOR. I AM CONCERNED THAT I WILL HAVE MY GRANDSON IN THE CAR AND NOT KNOW IF HIS SEAT BELT IS PROPERLY ENGAGED, OR IF MY AIRBAG IS WORKING PROPERLY. THIS HAS BEEN A CONSTANT ISSUE SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND HAVE PUT VERY LOW MILES ON THE CAR, HAVE ALWAYS GARAGED IT AND NEVER DROVE IT IN BAD WEATHER AND THE CLUSTER REMAINS AN ISSUE GOING ON THE 4TH ONE. *JS

I've owned several Audis and I must say that design is a crucial aspect for me when it comes to this manufacturer. Don't get me wrong, this car is the most fun to drive out of all the cars I've ever owned. However, it does rattle a bit and could have used more time to get all the kinks out before production. Although Audi does not admit to making a mistake, they do acknowledge that their cars have certain characteristics.
-
I absolutely love my TT Roadster! It's such a blast to drive and it always turns heads. While I do have a couple of minor critiques about the interior design, such as the compartment between the seats that can be accidentally opened due to the auto latch feature and the slightly awkward placement of the cup holders, overall it's a great car. The only issue I've had is with the magnesium wheel design - the lip of the wheels tends to get scratched easily by curbs because they stick out beyond the tire.
-
This is one of the most beautiful cars to ever roll off the assembly line. The interior, especially with the baseball optic leather, is simply gorgeous! This car, while not a hard-core sports car, can still deliver 85% of the performance of a Porsche 911 S4 Cabriolet at less than half the price. Additionally, it has a better interior with more room for front passengers. It is a much better overall car than the Z4 or SLK, with better ergonomics than the Boxster or 911, and more room and better performance than the Miata. All things considered, it is the best bang for the buck.
-
This car is truly amazing! It's definitely top-notch in every aspect. You should definitely take it for a spin yourself. The price is definitely worth it. I always have people coming up to me and asking about the car.
-
I've been driving an Audi TT 225 Quattro Coupe for almost three years now and I must say, it's been an absolute pleasure! I haven't had a single issue with it, except for the ones I caused myself by driving too fast! It handles like a dream and everyone who sees it loves it. Plus, I get a decent 28 mpg, even when I'm driving like a bit of a fool most of the time.

This car is certainly a lot of fun to drive, but unfortunately, I have had to bring it to the shop at least 5 times every year that I've owned it. It can be frustrating to have to schedule appointments and be without my car, especially considering the cost of European parts and the requirement for an hour-long diagnostic before any repairs can be made. Even for a simple repair like replacing a $20 brake light switch, there is a $90 charge for the diagnostic alone. Additionally, due to Audi's focus on artistic design, even small tasks like changing a tire can be a hassle. If you experience a blowout when the tires are below a certain tread depth, you'll need to replace all 4 tires. Despite these challenges, I still enjoy driving this car.

The car has experienced several issues with its electrical components, doors, engine, and transmission. Despite these issues, the warranty has not been honored due to false accusations of racing the car. Audi personnel have also put a significant amount of miles on the car. The cost of repairing the transmission is high and the car has significantly depreciated in value. However, it is important to note that these issues do not reflect the quality of Audi cars as a whole.

This sporty car is definitely a lot of fun to drive and has a cute design. However, I have had some trouble with it. Over the past two years, I have had to replace the temperature sensor twice, the temperature housing, all four tires, the water pump, the alternator, the battery, and the shift rod. Additionally, I have had to have the transmission rebuilt. The car has also had some issues with blowing fuses, which has been a bit of a hassle. The oil change can be a bit pricey as well. Unfortunately, I have spent more on maintenance than the car is worth. It has been a bit of a challenge, but I am hopeful that things will improve.

I've owned my TT since February of 2002, and while it's a fun car with good styling, I've unfortunately had to take it into the dealer for repairs at least 30 times - and this is not an exaggeration. Despite the inflated European repair costs, I've found it to be a royal pain to have to bring this car to the dealership over and over again. When I first bought my TT, there weren't many comparable options available, but now that there are, I'm considering selling mine and buying a Japanese sports car instead. That way, I can spend more time driving and less time leaving it at a repair shop.
