The Ram pickup (marketed as the Dodge Ram until 2010) is a full-size pickup truck manufactured by Stellantis North America (formerly Chrysler Group LLC and FCA US LLC) and marketed from 2010 onwards under the Ram Trucks brand. The current fifth-generation Ram debuted at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan, in January of that year.

Previously, Ram was part of the Dodge line of light trucks. The name Ram was first used in 1981 model year Dodge Trucks in October 1980, following the retiring and rebadging of the Dodge D series pickup trucks as well as B-series vans, though the company had used a ram's-head hood ornament on some trucks as early as 1933.

Ram trucks have been named Motor Trend magazine's Truck of the Year eight times; the second-generation Ram won the award in 1994, the third-generation Ram heavy-duty won the award in 2003, the fourth-generation Ram Heavy Duty won in 2010 and the fourth-generation Ram 1500 won in 2013 and 2014, and the current fifth-generation Ram pickup became the first truck in history to win the award three times, winning in 2019, 2020, and 2021.

STEERING PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-09-20
  • VIN: 3C6UR5FL6EG
  • Components: STEERING
  • Summary: Negligent service. How could be possible to measure assembly threads without a torque wrench? I regret bringing the vehicle for the recall. Passed two weeks, and the RamCare and dealer did not contact to fix. It's dubious if all performed recall V06 was executed correctly at the dealer. Owners and dealer may think that the recall will not bring any risk for the owner. See attached pictures and the procedure.

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-09-03
  • VIN: 3C6UR5DJ0EG
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: I had the cruise control set. I hit a large bump on the highway. The cruise control shut down along with the back up sensor. The ABS and Anti-Skid lights came up on the dash. Several messages came up on the dash to service the ABS, service the EBS, service the backup sensor. I am concerned that this is going to cause an accident due to the possibility of the brakes locking up and causing a slide that could result in a rollover. This is very concerning to me. Also, I get a credit on my insurance for having ABS on my vehicle. Please contact me or notify me with your intentions. I have been reading on the Ram 2500 forums and it sounds like this is a common failure. Thank you for your time, and interest in my concern.

ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-07-16
  • VIN: 3C6UR5PL6EG
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: I was contacted to complete a recall on my truck, (67A), which I had performed by the local dealer. The recall notice also said "If you have already experienced this condition and previously paid for a repair, you may be eligible to receive a reimbursement." I spoke to an individual and followed the instructions to submit a claim. With no response, I tried to get a status; to confirm proper items were received electronically. I was told, they were received and the claim was denied? No reason or justification. I tried many times and was disconnected after asking to speak with a manager/supervisor.

ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2021-12-20
  • VIN: 3C6UR5DL6EG
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: I recently received a letter in the mail from FCA US LLC, about an emissions recall (Emissions Recall VB6 or 67A) on this 2014 ram. The recall covered many emissions components including the diesel exhaust fluid components. The recall letter also said that if I had replaced or repaired any of these components in the past, I may be eligible for a reimbursement. I had previously had to replace my Diesel Exhaust Fluid Pump back in 2021 and turned in the receipt for the work, but the claim has been denied. I just wanted to reach out to see if there was anything that done to help possibly get the reimbursement.

POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-06-30
  • VIN: 3C6UR5FL1EG
  • Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
  • Summary: Upon starting the trucks engine, putting the transmission in gear (either Reverse or Drive), at idle engine speed (approx 700-800 rpm) or very low (near idle speed) the trucks engine starts to surge from idle then drops down to 500 rpms with a voltage drop (5V) too. It will do this a couple of times and then the trucks engine dies (engine stops) while in gear and no codes are shown on the CEL or saved in the vehicle control module. When I put the transmission in Park, the trucks engine restarts without a problem. But when I go to Drive or Reverse gear it then will do it again. The truck sounds like the engine brake is being applied causing the engine to lug/bog down. The torque converter has been inspected and replaced. The fuel pump/lifter has been replaced. The batteries have been replaced. The fuel filters have been serviced; the crank case breather has been serviced. The emissions controls equipment (EGR valve) have been serviced/cleaned. Knowing that my trucks engine can cut out/die at anytime at low rpms, poses a safety hazard. Knowing that the truck can do this without a code being throw feels unsafe.

STEERING PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-02-19
  • VIN: 3C6UR5FJ7EG
  • Components: STEERING
  • Summary: Steering has been pulling hard to the right. This makes it harder to steer especially at highway speeds with a larger vehicle. Had two 4 wheel alignments and it was brought to my attention on my last alignment that the nuts on my adjuster sleeve had been cut off and therefore the reason of the bad alignment. They said that this will cause a continual alignment issue if not resolved. I contacted a Dodge dealership and they are willing to do an inspection, but out of my pocket. I really can't afford an inspection since I was told this issued has been under recall in the past. Also there are no stickers or labels indicating a recall was ever performed on the vehicle prior to me purchasing it.

STEERING,SUSPENSION PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-02-08
  • VIN: 3C6UR5CJ8EG
  • Components: STEERING,SUSPENSION
  • Summary: The Front Suspension Track Bar Frame Bracket R46/NHTSA 15V-541. There was a recall issued in 2016 that impacted around an estimated 150,000+ vehicles. I purchased my Truck in 2020, and according to records this problem was fixed in 2016. I recently noticed something seriously wrong with the front suspension while driving, and just about lost control of my vehicle on the highway. After taking it to a certified maintenance technician for Dodge Ram, they found that the Recall was not completed at all. This problem involves faulty welding and the weld can break loose at any given moment without being fixed properly with a stability bracket. Mine gave loose on the highway going 70mph. My concern is how many other vehicles were marked as fixed, but in actuality were not.

SUSPENSION,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-11-08
  • VIN: 3C6UR5PL6EG

SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-10-02
  • VIN: 3C6UR5CL7EG
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: Recently I have had warning lights turn on my dashboard in my truck. Also any time I press the brake petal anti lock brakes lock in. The warning lights are ABS light, and TCS light. As a result of these lights they have also thrown other codes. The check engine light came on shortly after, the service electronic throttle control warning, as well as the BRAKE warning light. I was instructed to check all fuses and replace all ABS sensors to correct the issues. I have replaced all sensors with brand new OEM sensors and it did not fix the problem. I took it to my local mechanic and they said the truck needs a new ABS control module, as well as a new Hydraulic Control Unit/HCU. They preceded calling the Ram dealership to order the parts only to find out that the ABS control module is on back order and I might be able to get one by February. They also said that they stopped making the HCU and don’t have any available because it was a faulty part and they haven’t come up with a new design yet. They said that they aren’t accepting any orders for HCUs until at least February (IF) they have the new design completed by then. But it will most likely be on back order. Upon researching the issues with my truck, I am not alone and there are hundreds of people with the same issue. I think Ram should issue a recall and fix this issue as it is a major safety concern. Many people have lost their brakes while driving from this issue. My mechanic informed me that I could still drive my truck but he wouldn’t because I could very well lose my brakes. I am also concerned that it may cause other issues if it is driven without fixing the issues. So now I am out of my work vehicle until I can get this fixed, but it’s virtually impossible to get it fixed because they are not making the part anymore. Thank you for taking the time to read my concerns. I hope Ram is held accountable for these faulty and dangerous malfunctions.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-10-08
  • VIN: 3C6UR5CL9EG
  • Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
  • Summary: The horn on the vehicle did not work when a small child was running out into the street in front of me. This horn condition was not known before the incident took place. The child was not warned and was nearly hit. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they would not fix even though there was a previous recall for the functionality Safety Recall R36 / NHTSA 15V-459.

STEERING,SUSPENSION,WHEELS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-09-15
  • VIN: 3C6UR5CL2EG
  • Components: STEERING,SUSPENSION,WHEELS
  • Summary: On the night of September 15, 2023, I was driving home from work around 8:00 pm. I hit a bump on the interstate and my truck started the "death wobble". Having driven a Dodge truck for a very long time, I was aware of what was going on. The vehicle starts to "wobble" uncontrollably until you come to a complete stop. I was doing 70 mph and in the left lane when this happened, it immediately pulled me to the ditch in the right lane on the side of the interstate. I researched the problem and found that it had an R46 recall and the bracket in said recall had been ripped from the frame and broken in half. I hauled the vehicle to Jeff Wilson Chrysler in Brookhaven and they sent pictures to whomever for the recall and it was denied for some reason. The Service Manager then sent it to someone else because he thought that it should have been fixed based off what he has seen. I then called 1-800-992-1997 to speak with someone about my issues and they proceeded to tell me that my recall had already been fixed. When I or Mr. Shane at Jeff Wilson types it in, it clearly states the R46 recall has not been fixed. There is nothing on this bar or bracket that has been done. This bracket breaking almost caused me to wreck and I cant get any help in getting it resolved. Mr. Shane at Jeff Wilson in Brookhaven has been nothing but fantastic in this matter and continues to try and help me get it resolved with no help coming from anyone above the dealership. The vehicle is undrivable and has been out of commission for 5 weeks now with no progress. Any help in this matter would be appreciated.

TIRES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-08-19
  • VIN: 3C6UR5PL8EG
  • Components: TIRES
  • Summary: I have a set of 285/60R20 Discoverer AT3 XLT tires that I purchased new for my ‘14 Ram 2500 in December of 2020. On June 7th of this year (2023) I had my tire “cave in” in the middle due to the belts in the tire separating. This defect on the tire caused an extreme wobble and made the vehicle unsafe to drive. The tires in question had 33k miles on them and my local dealer said they would not be warrantied and I was forced to pay $900 to replace both front tires. On August 19, the same defect occurred on one of the 2 remaining tires (tires have 37k miles on them). This defect in the belts/cords again cause the tire to “cave in” and have a death wobble while driving down the road. I own numerous vehicles and have been through several sets of tires on each of them and have never experienced 1) an extreme failure of the tire like this and 2) this high of a failure rate (currently at 50%). These tires are unsafe for the road and need to be recalled!

STEERING,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2014-06-30
  • VIN: 3C6UR5CL1EG
  • Components: STEERING,SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: Since purchasing in 2014 I have had my truck in and out of RAM Dealerships for steering issues and braking issues. Repeatedly told that it’s a RAM. A steering linkage recall was received and I took it in to have it done. Problem has been there continuously. The water pump issues continue Brakes are still an issue BUT I have been told at the Dealerships that they are hydraulic and they work differently.

SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-06-29
  • VIN: 3C6UR5FL8EG
  • Components: SERVICE BRAKES,ENGINE
  • Summary: RAM has Turbocharger/actuator high failure rate. I have had 2 turbo failures in under 80,000 miles. When I lost the turbo I loose the exhaust brakes. This is very dangerous when towing and coming down a mountain road. This could lead to vehicle damage and loss of life. IN FACT: RAM on the 2015 model year only, issued a warranty extension for Turbo failures. This is serious safety concern due to NO exhaust brakes or no acceleration when needed to avoid a collision.

ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-05-07
  • VIN: 3C6UR5CJ6EG
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: There is a ticking noise from the 6.4L Hemi that is in this truck. I took it into the dealer and I was told that it was normal. Recently The ticking got so loud that it sounds like the lifters or a rod that will shoot through the engine compartment and injure or kill someone.

ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-12-19
  • VIN: 3C6UR5CLXEG
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: on the 6.7L cummins diesel engines, as part of the cold start system, there is a bolt in the intake plenum that can come loose and eventually break off getting sucked into the #6 cylinder. when this happens, there will be catastrophic failure of the engine. This boltis barely visible looking from the top driver side of engine, a sure sign of this problem is the preheater wire connected to the intake plenum will seem loose and you can wiggle it. This is not repairable from the exterior of plenum and must be torn down for repair or replacement. If this problem is not noticed, eventual total failure of the diesel engine will happen, not maybe, but will potentially destroy the engine. numerous reports in the repair field have identified this problem and it needs to be addressed ASAP .... respectfully request that RAM/Cummins be contacted and at a minimum, a TSB be initiated so RAM owners can have this area inspected before total failure occurs

ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-01-01
  • VIN: 3C6UR5NJ5EG
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: The heater in my pickup was not working correctly on the driver's side, so I took it into a shop to have the engine coolant flushed ($150). Within a few weeks, I had a check engine light appear and discovered the thermostat had failed ($350). I had this replaced. Still no heat. It was discovered that my heater core was plugged, could not be flushed, and the sediment from the coolant breaking down caused the failure in the thermostat, the heater core, and had plugged the EGR cooler ($3459 repair). Eide Chrysler informed me they had had a number of these issues occur this winter alone on Ram trucks from this vintage and mentioned Chrysler had changed coolant beginning with Ram model year 2013, and that said coolant was routinely failing between 60-100K miles. Chrysler stated they would not stand behind the repairs since the original warranty had expired. I am the original owner of this pickup, keep it in a heated garage, very seldom tow, and I follow the maintenance schedules. Chrysler's own maintenance schedule states the coolant should be flushed at the earlier of 10 years or 150,000 miles. This truck is 8 years old with 93,000 miles on it. This failure was caused by a systemic defect

SEAT BELTS PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2023-01-31
  • VIN: 3C6UR5CL0EG
  • Components: SEAT BELTS
  • Summary: While cleaning and detailing the vehicle on 01/31/23, it was noticed that there is severe cracking in the plastic assembly that holds the seatbelt in place. A malfunction has not yet occurred, but this seems as if it could be a potential hazard once the plastic completely fails. This vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Seatbelt failures put the driver, front passenger and rear passengers, as well as other vehicles, at risk of injury or fatality in an accident. I have not contacted any dealers or independent service centers regarding this issue. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the potential failure. I am unsure of when the cracks first appeared, but have owned the vehicle since 2015.

  • Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING,VISIBILITY
  • Summary: The contact owns a 2014 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the windows needed to be scraped from the inside. The driver was unable to see the roadway. The brake light became inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake light housing needed to be replaced. There was water entering the brake light housing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no additional assistance was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

  • Summary: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Dodge Journey, Charger and Durango, RAM 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis (more than 10,000lb), 4500 Cab Chassis and 5500 Cab Chassis, Jeep Cherokee and Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300, 2014-2019 RAM 1500, 2015-2018 Dodge Challenger, 2015-2017 Chrysler 200, 2016-2018 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis (less than 10,000 lb), 2017-2018 Chrysler Pacifica and 2018 Jeep Wrangler vehicles. These vehicles are being recalled to address a defect that could prevent the cruise control system from disengaging. If, when using cruise control, there is a short circuit within the vehicle's wiring, the driver may not be able to shut off the cruise control either by depressing the brake pedal or manually turning the system off once it has been engaged, resulting in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.
  • Consequence: If the vehicle maintains its speed or accelerates despite attempts to deactivate the cruise control, there would be an increased risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the software, and perform a software flash on the engine or powertrain control module, free of charge. The recall began June 4, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Note: Owners are advised to stop using cruise control until the software update has been performed. In the event that cruise control cannot be disengaged while driving, owners should firmly and steadily apply the brakes and shift the transmission to neutral, placing the vehicle in park once it has stopped.

  • Components: POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:LEVER AND LINKAGE:COLUMN SHIFT
  • Summary: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Ram 3500 Cab Chassis with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of less than 10,000 lbs, 2011-2017 Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles, 2009-2017 Ram 1500 and 2010-2017 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickup trucks, all equipped with a column shifter. Pushing the brake pedal for prolonged periods when the vehicle is running and in PARK may cause the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) pin to stick in the open position. With the pin in the open position, the transmission can be shifted out of PARK into any gear without pushing the brake pedal or having the key in the ignition.
  • Consequence: Being able to shift the transmission without pushing the brake pedal and/or without a key in the ignition can increase the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway that may result in personal injury or a crash.
  • Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will update the vehicle software, inspect the BTSI, and, as necessary, replace it, free of charge. The recall began February 26, 2018. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is T79.

  • Manufacturer: Chrysler (FCA US LLC)
  • Components: AIR BAGS
  • Summary: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and 2014-2016 Ram 3500 vehicles. Certain driving conditions, such as driving off-road or debris striking the vehicle may cause the roll rate sensor to trigger a fault within the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). If this fault occurs, the rollover side curtain air bag and the seat belt pretensioner will be disabled from deploying.
  • Consequence: If the rollover side curtain air bags and seat belt pretensioners are disabled, there is an increased risk of injury to the vehicle occupants in the event of a crash that necessitates activation of these safety systems.

  • Summary: Chrysler (FCA US LLC) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Ram 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500, 2015 Chrysler 200, Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, and Dodge Challenger, 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, and Dodge Durango, and 2013-2015 Dodge Viper vehicles. The affected vehicles are equipped with radios that have software vulnerabilities that can allow third-party access to certain networked vehicle control systems.
  • Consequence: Exploitation of the software vulnerability may result in unauthorized remote modification and control of certain vehicle systems, increasing the risk of a crash.
  • Remedy: Chrysler will notify and mail affected owners a USB drive that includes a software update that eliminates the vulnerability, free of charge. Optionally, owners may download the update to their own USB drive from http://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/ or take their vehicle to a Chrysler dealer for immediate installation. In an effort to mitigate the effects of this security vulnerability, Chrysler has had the wireless service provider close the open cellular connection to the vehicle that provided unauthorized access to the vehicle network. This measure may not have been implemented on all vehicles and does not address access by other means that will be remedied by the software update. The recall began on August 25, 2015. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is R40.

The affected vehicles have a steering wheel wiring harness that may rub against the driver air bag module retainer spring.
  • Consequence: This abrasion may result in an electrical short that could cause driver's frontal air bag to unexpectedly deploy. Inadvertent deployment of the air bag may increase the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash.
  • Remedy: Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect, repair as necessary, and secure the steering wheel wiring harness. Additionally, protective caps will be added to the air bag retainer spring ends. These repairs will be done free of charge. The recall began on September 18, 2015. Negative 2014 Ram 2500 car reviews

  1. Salvador Bernhard 2024-10-07

The truck has 109,000 miles on it and has unfortunately left me stranded on the side of the road three times. However, I have taken proactive measures to address these issues, including replacing the transmission at 93,000 miles for $7,000 and replacing both front wheel hubs. While there have been some recalls, I have taken the truck to the dealership for maintenance and repairs. Although the fuel mileage could be better and there have been some issues with the power steering pump and steering wheel controls, I have also replaced the transmission lines to address any leaks.

  2. Uriel Baumbach 2024-06-13

I recently picked up my new RAM2500 6.7 Cummins Diesel and unfortunately experienced some issues with the radio and digital portion of the dash after filling up at a gas station. I took it to the dealer for repairs and was informed that the radio was faulty and on back order with no ETA. After contacting Dodge's 800 customer line and speaking with a case manager, I was informed that they also had no ETA for the radio's repair. It has now been three weeks without any updates. As someone who has purchased several new cars in my life, I am disappointed with this experience and it has left me with a negative impression of Dodge.

  3. Sigrid Toy 2024-06-06

I am sorry to hear about the issues you have been experiencing with your truck. It sounds like a very frustrating situation. Have you tried contacting Chrysler group again to see if they can offer any further assistance? I hope that you are able to find a solution to this problem soon.

  4. Saul Hand 2024-06-02

I purchased this truck with only 7800 miles on it, but unfortunately, I have experienced 4 recalls in less than a year. The factory bedliner is separating from the steel, which is causing me to miss out on using it for work. I have had to take it to the shop multiple times due to manufacturer defects, which is quite frustrating. I was hoping that since the company changed names, the quality would have improved, but unfortunately, that has not been the case. I was disappointed to learn that a loaner is not included in the warranty, and trading it in would not be a viable option due to the significant depreciation of Rams. I had to spend 2 hours on the hotline trying to understand why there was no loaner policy for working men, but unfortunately, there is no such policy. I was also disappointed to learn that they wanted to patch the factory sprayed bedliner instead of respraying the whole thing, even though I paid $600 for it. Despite these issues, I have never had this many problems with my Fords.

  5. Daryl Yundt 2024-04-14

The vehicle has experienced multiple recalls and transmission pan leaks, which have been addressed through four separate repairs conducted by two different dealers. It is worth noting that the 6.4 HEMI option was not available above.

Positive 2014 Ram 2500 car reviews

  1. Deon Schoen 2025-01-03

I see that you have the 6.7 Cummins Diesel and I'm glad to hear that you love your truck. I agree that the U Connect system is impressive for its time, especially considering it's a 2011 model. It's unfortunate that the MPG is not great due to the PDF and EGR system, but it's great to hear that the power and reliability make up for it. I understand your concern about the wheel well design and frame being prone to rust, especially considering the price of these trucks. Perhaps Ram could consider investing in a rust-proof frame in the future.

  2. Kaleb Parisian 2024-07-20

It's a shame that paint chips so easily nowadays, they just don't make them like they used to. However, the Power 6.4 engine is still great!

  3. Devante Hauck 2024-06-18

I still love this truck! It's amazing how it still works day or night, even after 102,350 miles. The interior still looks like new and the paint still looks great, despite never being parked inside. The only issue I've had was around 101,245 miles when the 'Y' pipe on the upper radiator hose developed a small crack and had to be replaced. Other than that, no problems or complaints.

  4. Devante Corwin 2024-05-18

I purchased the base tradesman model with the upgraded electronics package, which made the interior feel more like an SLT. The integrated brake controller is fantastic, and everything continues to work as it should. This was one of the first years with the spring suspension in the rear, and it has held up to all towing and payload requirements without any issues. The ride quality is still that of a 3/4 ton, but it is far superior to the other Rams with springs in the rear. If you don't need the extra payload of the leafs, then I would personally stick with the springs for daily ride quality. The only time I have seen the distance between my bed and tire gap shrink is when I tow one of my 1950's era steel equipment trailers, which is none too light in the hitch weight department. Overall, it tows well and is nice and smooth. However, if you live in an area with a lot of elevation changes, my guess is that you would be disappointed with high-speed towing, as the engine really needs to work at high speeds to get up hills and maintain a set speed. It still does the job, but it is working hard. Flat and mild elevation towing is no hassle. The towing mirrors add great visibility, and I can park this truck easier than my daily driver. The factory tires are marginal, and the headlights dim easily. The truck is easily dented and scratched, but it is mechanically rock solid. The 4x4 low is awesome for heavy-duty truck work, and the stock front bumper accepts the Power Wagon winch kit without modification. I bought mine new in 2014 with solid factory incentives, and I can still trade it in for more than I owe on it. Even though I knew better, I got suckered into adding extra warranties at the last minute, but it turned out to be a waste of money since the truck has had no issues despite being put through a great deal of abuse. It makes my dad angry that my little gas engine can out tow his mid-00s diesel.

  5. Patrick Cartwright 2024-03-25

I really appreciate this truck! It pulls and rides great, and I'm getting much better mileage than my previous trucks. Although there have been some computer flash recalls that have affected my gas mileage, the truck is still running well as of April 2019. I have noticed that some of the plastic around the center console is a bit soft and the chrome scratches off easily. Additionally, the cruise control button can be a bit finicky, especially in colder weather, but once it starts working, it works without any issues. It's worth noting that this truck is actually a diesel, despite being labeled as a gas V8 at the top.
