1992 Pontiac Grand prix problems

pontiac logo

The Grand Prix is a line of automobiles produced by the Pontiac Division of General Motors from 1962 until 2002 as coupes and from 1989 through 2008 model years as four-door sedans.

First introduced as a full-size performance coupe for the 1962 model year, the model varied repeatedly in size, luxury, and performance during its production. The Grand Prix was the most expensive coupe Pontiac offered until the 1970s, when the Bonneville Brougham and the Firebird Trans Am became more exclusive. Among the changes were positioning in the personal luxury car market segment and mid-size car offering from the second generation to the fifth generation for the sedan and from the second generation to the sixth generation from the coupe.

All Grand Prixs from 1962 through 1972 were pillarless hardtops (except for the 1967 convertible),

Negative 1992 Pontiac Grand prix car reviews

  1. Desmond Grady 2024-08-06

If you happen to touch it, please be careful as the paint might come off. Unfortunately, the car was painted with a new primer that didn't work well, causing the paint to chip off easily. As a result, the car doesn't look very attractive. The engine lasted for 244km before seizing, and the brakes were not very effective. The car also seemed to have its good and bad days. Additionally, the control display was not very reliable, and I often found it difficult to determine my speed. Therefore, it might be best to consider other options.

  2. Gerson Pfannerstill 2024-07-15

It sounds like you're having a tough time with your 1992 Grand Prix SE. It can be frustrating when a car has so many issues, especially when it's your first car as a teenager. Hang in there!

Positive 1992 Pontiac Grand prix car reviews

  1. Grady Gleichner 2024-11-25

I bought this car back in '98 with 130,000 miles on the clock. Last week, I hit 224,000 miles and it's still the most dependable and fun car I've ever owned. I'm really looking forward to hitting the 300,000 mile mark!

  2. Mervin Pacocha 2024-11-21

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share that I've had this car for 10 years now. I bought it with 22,000 miles and it now has 160,000. It's been driven all over the US, including Alaska where I bought it, and it's been such a reliable car. I've never had a car that performed this well!

  3. Leopoldo Trantow 2024-10-11

I've owned many cars over the years, but my 90 Pontiac Grand Prix is by far the best. When I bought her, she had 20,000 miles on the clock, and now, 12 years later, with only 165,000 miles, I've hardly spent anything on her. All I've had to do is replace the alternator, engine gaskets, have 4 tuneups, 1 set of brakes, and 3 sets of tires. She's still running on the original clutch and exhaust. I wish I could find another car as good as her. I plan to keep her until she or I die, whichever comes first.

  4. Branson Oberbrunner 2024-10-04

As my first car, I have a special bond with it, and I must say, it's an excellent car. It's quick and fun to drive!

  5. Jayde Hahn 2024-08-13

This car is the best! I love it. If I ever get rid of mine, I want another one just like the one I have now. I know they did not make a lot of these at all :(
