AFTER NUMEROUS CONTACTS WITH GM WANTING SOME SORT OF RESTITUTION THEY DENIED OUR CLAIM BECAUSE WE NO LONGER HAD THE CAR FOR THEM TO INVESTIGATE OR ANY PICTURES. WE DID HAVE THE TESTIMONY OF THE TOW TRUCK AND THE WEST BROOKLYN IL FIRE PERSONNEL BUT WOULD NOT ACCEPT THAT. OVER THE COARSE OF THE YEARS THEY KEEP SENDING US RECALL NOTICES ON THE SAME VEHICLE WANTING US TO BRING IT INTO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. - Summary: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 1998-1999 Chevrolet Lumina and Oldsmobile Intrigue, 1997-2004 Buick Regal and Pontiac Grand Prix, 2000-2004 Chevrolet Impala, and 1998-2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo vehicles. The affected vehicles were previously repaired under recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, and 15V-201 to address the possibility that engine oil may drip onto the hot exhaust manifold.
- Consequence: Engine oil that drips onto the hot surface of the exhaust manifold may result in a fire.
- Remedy: The remedy applied under recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, and 15V-201 did not adequately remove the safety risk. Under the improved remedy, dealers will replace the engines front valve cover and gasket. Vehicles that are covered by recalls 08V-118, 09V-116, or 15V-201 that have not yet received the original remedy will instead receive the improved remedy under the original recall number. The recall began on February 19, 2016. I purchased this car brand new and had a few issues within the first year, but thankfully the dealership was able to repair them all under warranty. These included an oil pan leak, power steering reservoir and hose leaks, an SRS light coming on, and some minor interior and trunk defects. The dealership was able to fix everything in just a couple of attempts and charged GM over $1,700 (GM, I hope you're listening - I don't think you made any money on my car!). Since then, I've only had one other problem where both headlight lenses fell off, but this was also covered under warranty after some persistence. Overall, this car has been incredibly dependable for me and runs great!

I bought this car with 64,000 miles on it. As of 2/11/03, it now has 106,000 miles on it. I drive 70 miles a day, ALL highway, with cruise set at 71mph. The factory trans fluid, coolant (dexcool), and spark plugs are still in good condition. The only issue I had was with the alternator, which went out at 79,000 miles. It only cost me $100 and 10 minutes to fix it! The brakes had to be redone, but they were the factory originals at about 81,000 miles. The car still burns tires if need be (with trac control off of course)!! The key is to follow the manual for oil changes!

The car drives great and I've never had any issues with the engine. However, I have had some trouble with the driver's side motor. It has needed to be replaced twice and unfortunately, it's not covered by the warranty because it's not completely burnt out. This means that I often have trouble raising the window, which can be frustrating, especially during the winter. Additionally, I had to have the wiper motor fixed once. When I first got the car, the spark plugs were messed up and it would sputter, but that issue has been resolved.

Your car has been a part of your family for over two decades, enduring 11 Wisconsin winters and all kinds of weather, and it still runs like a charm. With only standard maintenance, it has held up through one adult driver and two teen drivers, and shows no signs of stopping. Even with 136,000 miles on it, it still looks great and drives like a dream. It's no wonder you wouldn't trade it for any other car - it's both reliable and good-looking. I can't find any faults with it either!

I confidently assert that the GTP I owned for 6 years and drove for 220000KM is a good car, with its stylish design, comfortable interior, and impressive speed. While it did have some issues, including the replacement of 2 water pumps, 2 crankshaft position sensors, 1 low ball joint, and 2 sway bars, the rear strut mounts are now in need of replacement.

This car was definitely a fun ride, but unfortunately, it was a nightmare to own. Since purchasing it in Aug. 2001 with 49,000 miles, I had to replace several parts including the water pump, radiator, power window motors, power seat motor, radio, wheel bearing assembly, blower motor, fog lamps, headlamps, alternator, all four rotors/brake pads, and finally a battery. After all that, I finally got everything in working order, but unfortunately, it was totaled after being hit from behind by an F-150. However, I'm looking forward to my next car, which will be a Nissan or Honda.

Hi there! I noticed that you've had to replace the alternator in your car three times already - twice by GM and once by yourself. Unfortunately, each time you've had to replace it, you've encountered another electrical problem somewhere else, such as with the radio, amp, or light relay switch. It sounds like there may be an issue with the location or quality of the alternator itself. I would recommend finding a trustworthy shop that will replace the unit for you while you still own the car. Hope this helps!
