1993 Pontiac Grand prix problems
The Grand Prix is a line of automobiles produced by the Pontiac Division of General Motors from 1962 until 2002 as coupes and from 1989 through 2008 model years as four-door sedans.
First introduced as a full-size performance coupe for the 1962 model year, the model varied repeatedly in size, luxury, and performance during its production. The Grand Prix was the most expensive coupe Pontiac offered until the 1970s, when the Bonneville Brougham and the Firebird Trans Am became more exclusive. Among the changes were positioning in the personal luxury car market segment and mid-size car offering from the second generation to the fifth generation for the sedan and from the second generation to the sixth generation from the coupe.
All Grand Prixs from 1962 through 1972 were pillarless hardtops (except for the 1967 convertible),

I FRIEND REPORTED THAT HER 1993 GRAND PRIXS TURNING SIGNALS WERE SMOKING BEFORE SHE TRADED IT IN. I HAVE CONTACTED GMS LITIGATION DEPARTMENT. I purchased my GP from a kind elderly gentleman who had only driven it for 23k miles over 7 years. Although the transmission was a bit sticky for the first few thousand miles, it eventually loosened up. I did experience some engine problems recently, with a terrible engine knock when cold. However, the suspension has been excellent and I have not had to replace anything down there yet. Lately, the transmission has been a bit difficult when cold, as it won't shift into drive except when in 1st gear. The radio was not great, but I was able to replace it relatively easily with instructions from Crutchfield. Unfortunately, the driver's side seats seem to deteriorate quickly, and you may end up sitting on springs. Additionally, gas mileage suffers when you run the engine hard. Performing engine maintenance can also be challenging.

You have a very good and reliable car! It's impressive that you've owned it for 9 years and have only had to replace the alternator at 70000 miles. Other than that, you just need to add gas and change the oil. I noticed that it's leaking slightly from the valve cover at 85000 miles, but it's still not enough oil to leak to the ground.
-
This car is actually a flood-damaged vehicle, but don't let that fool you! It has been an excellent and reliable car for me, with only a few minor problems. The 3.1 V6 engine is truly excellent and has powered me through 16,000 miles so far, with no signs of stopping! I highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a car with this engine.
-
No complaints, this STE is excellent! I have the one with the 3.4 24v and 220 hp. It's funny when you pass a 'sport' car on the highway with your 'sedan'....!

As a high school student, I needed a reliable car to get around. I was pleasantly surprised to find a car that not only looks good but is also dependable. So far, I have owned it for about 7 months and have had nothing but positive experiences. The power and handling are better than I expected. Although my transmission is starting to have a problem, I understand that with 155,000 miles, such issues can be expected. I recently had to replace the bearings and rear struts, and my air conditioner is currently out. Despite these minor setbacks, it was a great buy.

Not a bad car! It has good gas mileage and a fair amount of power.
Bret Medhurst 2024-02-03
The car was a great ride - fast, sporty, and good looking. I owned it from 1995 to 2002 and put 40,000 miles on it. While I did have to replace the front brakes four times, the alternator twice, and ball joints twice, the rear pads were only replaced once. Unfortunately, the brakes didn't last more than 10,000 miles, which I think was due to the rear discs not working properly. Additionally, the gas mileage wasn't great with the 3.1L engine. Despite these issues, I was happy to have owned it for some time. However, my 99 Voyager has been even better!
