The Pontiac Grand Am is a car model that was produced by Pontiac in various years between 1973 and 2005. Produced as a RWD mid-size car on the LeMans GM A platform in its first two generations, the Grand Am name was reused for a FWD compact car for its last three generations.

The platform actually began development intended to be the next generation GTO, but the muscle car era was drawing to a close. So, Pontiac decided to make this model America's answer to European luxury|sports sedans. The Grand Am (GA) name was derived from two other Pontiacs; "Grand" signifying Grand Prix luxury, and "Am" for Trans Am performance.

These first generation GAs had some innovative features, including a deformable urethane nose (an evolution of the Endura bumper pioneered on the 1968 GTO), and was one of only three GM cars (Olds Cutlass Salon, Chevy Monte Carlo S) to debut radial-ply tires (RTS - Radial Tuned Suspension) as standard equipment. The intermediate sized Grand Am was canceled in 1980 when it was replaced by the Pontiac 6000.

A compact-sized Grand Am, based on the GM N-platform, was released in 1985, replacing the Pontiac Phoenix. It became Pontiac's best selling car and was later replaced by the Pontiac G6, so named as it was intended to be the 6th generation of the Grand Am.

All 1973–1975 Grand Ams were built in Pontiac, Michigan at Pontiac's main assembly plant. The 1978-1980 Grand Ams were built in Pontiac, Michigan at Pontiac's main assembly plant and in Atlanta, Georgia at GMAD Lakewood. All Grand Ams between 1985 and 2005 were built in Lansing, Michigan at the Lansing Car Assembly.

Summary: Twice in one month my vehicle has died while driving. I have been braking and turning when this has happened and it dies without warning. No check engine lights are on the vehicle and it has 150,000 miles. Summary: Disc are advanced, technologically superior, and come standard with enabling more braking force with less pressure. Albeit an impermeable transmission requires no fluid changes and less maintenance, servicing one is challenging. This mercifully costed my job after 832 days, and makes us perilous under Secretary Buttigieg. Pete naturally love money, and doesn’t get stressed managing large amounts. Democrats believe Pete Buttigieg is excellent at producing and saving money. While Pete is great making money in corporate settings, he ain’t entrepreneurial as other colleagues. Pete Buttigieg doesn’t want to gamble, and they won’t put money into his ideas. Prepare to put on your occupation clothes and start performing duties. Pete Buttigieg has demanded excellence, and want his reports to work as he did. Secretary Buttigieg expects us to come early, stay late, and never give an excuse for projects not being done in time. Pete may not give praise easily, so don’t expect too much personal ephemera. This boss may quiz us on headlines and obscure wisdom. Not as if this boss would throw us under buses and prove their wisdom. This boss assumes we have his interests and wisdom. Summary: Ecotec Gen I was re–engineered to be smoother and more efficient than its predecessor. Featuring an dual in–block balance shafts, power–steering pump, water–pump housing, and removable oil filter housing. This engine replaced the Quad–4 and GM 122 in North America and first appeared. GM offers an official kit which can be converted into 2.2 supercharged versions using modified ECM software. Model L42 is an CNG version of the Ecotec 2.2, producing 129 hp and 129 ft⋅lb. This LSJ was listed as one of Ward's 10 Best Engines in 2006! Sealed transmissions elude fluid access to function like regular transmission systems without requiring fluid changes for maintenance. A sealed transmission has fill and inspection plugs, with the inspection plug removing excess fluid and the fill plug adding fluid. Nobody told me during my tenure in ‘shop class!’ Knorr’s Automotive wants $55Ø to fix an exhaust leak, which is their disastrous mishandling. This situation is only going to get marked by more confusion & errors. Vehicle fires are rare and small leaks in fuel tanks or lines can ignite, in defective vehicles during crashes.

Summary: Our braking system on this car failed us, and is probably crushed by now at no fault of my own. My safety was at–risk when the brakes lost pressure and if it wasn’t for our seatbelts, I could’ve been thrown through the windshield. I hereby declare that [XXX] deliberately caused our accident and lied about being blinded. [XXX] lost her son—[XXX]—and was jealous of my opportunity to do what he couldn’t. Her other son—[XXX]—choose not to attend college and contraband drugs among other things. [XXX] and his mother [XXX] were also jealous of me for having an opportunity that [XXX] chose not to take. They blame me for Chastity [XXX] & [XXX] turning their parental rights over to the Commonwealth of Kentucky. How their oldest daughter being raped by her paternal grandmother’s husband has to do me is absurd and childish in my opinion. Murray Police Department was called on October 23, 2014 at 7:23 am in reference to 2 vehicle collisions to inspected and verified by law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. [XXX] and his sister [XXX] their colleagues at Seacrest Rehabilitation—Healthcare Center and [XXX] or [XXX] Consolidated Schools with the latter allegations. Ma and I later went to Dr. [XXX] chiropractic center for evaluation, he can verify her back or knee problems as they related to this incident. [XXX] can verify us suffering from medicalised homelessness, despite state law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania declaring residential leases cannot exceed three years. Summary: Body, Brakes, and Electrical concern me. My family owned a 1999 same model vehicle, and the brakes failed us in an accident from its’ left driver seal being punctured. Here is what’s going on with the 2003 aside from the latter mentioned. Exhaust from manifold to catalytic converter followed by muffler rusted out by 175,ØØØ miles and now broke apart. Frame and rocker panels are rusted out before 175,ØØØ miles and broke apart by rear wheels on both sides. Electrical concerns caused me to quit my job on March 11, 2022 when the wipers quit working and nearly caused an accident by Chartiers Cemetery in a thunderstorm storm two days before. Front end vibration is felt in floor boards and steering wheel when brakes are applied at high speeds, usually between 45–75 as regulated by federal government. Disc brakes gradually replaced drum brakes from between 1960—1980. That practicality is debunked on these cars they didn’t utilise disc brakes on all both axles, which is my preference anyways for being mechanically–inclined. Koor’s confirmed our exhaust leak in Carnegie Pennsylvania and wants $5ØØ+ to replace the exhaust. Tireman Auto Service in Toledo Ohio confirmed the wiper malfunction, they replaced the window regulator and wiper transmission. Vehicle has been inspected by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Goodyear, Pittsburgh Police Bureau, and State Farm Mutual Insurance. I allow you to contact them for references and any ticketing information. Assuming we can afford to be better than slumlords. Group activities are blessed to keep your peace of mind. Might as well watch from the fray from my point–of–view. Unless you would rather demand my escape other travel options, then I didn’t my own identity to be audited by your Internal Revenue Service. Vehicle is still available for inspection, and I would like your recommendation to convince the owner that your issued recall isn’t for your peace of mind. She needs your social stimulation to flourish.

Summary: Debra J. Westfall—neighbour—loves controversy, and won’t back down from expressing her anger or bafflement exhibited from half–assed parenting. Funny how she hates us snowflakes for sharing her entitled, materialistic narcissism. Five porch monkeys were using electric scooters on our street when one of them vandalised our driver side taillight. Turnpike commissions can confirm that latter in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Ohio. Debra Westfall hates people who aren’t genuine, and believes keeping us out of the loop justifies her behaviour. This leads to her central conflict and that mutability keeps gives that household insomnia. Tammy Pagareski, Louise Dobbins and Mark Westfall might confirm her character, if you can schmooze them into it. After two years of scooters driving around the city, this pilot program has finally ended according to local media stations. State leaders said the budget process slowed down any talks about continuing the pilot program in Pittsburgh. There are concerns about people leaving the scooters dumped in bad spots. State leaders acknowledge there have been issues, and if changes are going to be made. Samuel DeMarco III believes his Republican Committee articulates influential voices, leads efficient or transparent governments, and the political party of choice for eight billion voters as of 2020.

Summary: The gas gauge will show full then without warning quickly drop to “E” and the low fuel indicator will ding and the light will come on then just as quickly as it started it will go back to full or 2/3rds the slow creep back to the full position. (The tank was not full) While driving all the electrical components start going wild, everything goes on and off quickly. The accelerator will rev(while foot is on or off accelerator) and drop over and over (as if there were bad gas in it) then go back to normal. This happens while I’m on the road and is a massive hazard. I’m so afraid this will cause an accident that leads to loss of life.

Summary: Electrical wiring mess with air for air or heating up I was trying to make it work while driving and then all of suddenly dashboard light went out, car slowed down and stopped. Summary: The ignition is faulty. My ignition allows my radio to turn on randomly. I could have the car off, I'm not in it at all. If I get inside to go somewhere and the radio is already on before I put the key in. Most times it's not a big deal. The car starts and I go about my business. Recently I've been experiencing needing to get a jump because the battery gets run down over the radio being on. When I'm inside the car and it's running I'm able to pull the key completely out of the ignition and the car stays running until I put my key in and turn it to the off position. I've gotten the recall cards since I bought the car 5 years ago. On the card it lists the cause as "unintended ignition key rotation". I scheduled a appointment for this to get fixed. Low and behold they cut 2 keys for me and that's it! I can make the car available for inspection at any time requested in advance.

Summary: When I was gassing up my car, a fuel leak occurred in the gas tank and my car caught on fire. The gas station attendant used a fire extinguisher to put the fire out. I had 113,262 miles on my car. As you can see, the leak in the plastic gas tank caused the gas tank fuel pump to burn up and burn up its wiring harness. I don't want any money but I just thought the NHTSA should know. I do not need money because my insurance company will be reimbursing me for my total loss of the car.

General Motors LLC (GM) notified the agency on July 3, 2014, that they are recalling 5,877,718 model year 2000-2005 Chevrolet Impala and Monte Carlo, 1997-2003 Chevrolet Malibu, 2004-2005 Malibu Classic, 1999-2004 Oldsmobile Alero, 1998-2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue, 1999-2005 Pontiac Grand Am and 2004-2008 Pontiac Grand Prix vehicles. In these models, the weight on the key ring and/or road conditions or some other jarring event may cause the ignition switch to move out of the run position, turning off the engine.
Consequence: If the key is not in the run position, the air bags may not deploy if the vehicle is involved in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Remedy: GM will notify owners, and dealers will install two key rings and an insert in the key slot or a cover over the key head on all ignition keys, free of charge. The recall began on September 9, 2014. GM's number for this recall is 14350.

We were searching for a third car that we could put miles on without feeling guilty, and we stumbled upon this gem. The Quad 4 engine was the only reason I even considered this car, and we were lucky enough to find it in showroom condition with 61k miles and all receipts. Although we have encountered some minor issues almost weekly (see below), we still enjoy driving it. The shifter feel could be improved, but it's not a major issue. The Quad 4 engine revs rather slowly for a 175hp 4 cylinder with a 7,000 rpm redline, but it still provides decent acceleration. The suspension is a bit stiff and harsh, but the handling performance is average. Overall, we are pleased with our experience so far. It's almost 10 years old and showing some age, but it's still a great car to drive.

What initially attracted me to the car was its affordable price, sleek body style, ergonomic interior design, and a nice little dose of low end torque. I even nicknamed it 'the Ferrari' due to its bright red color. Although I've had some ups and downs with it, I've kept it for so long that I've spent almost as much on insurance as I did to buy it. I purchased this car used in January 2012 for $950 and 176660 miles. It was what I could afford at the time. The turn signal switch had some issues, but I was able to fix it myself with a tool box from Freight Harbor Tools. The AC had some trouble initially, but after replacing the AC relay under the hood, it has been working perfectly ever since. As a maintenance tip, I run the AC for several minutes in the winter to ensure proper system lubrication. I replaced the transmission fluid at 182K and then made a trip from Phoenix to Kansas City and back (2460 miles) and got an impressive 32 mpg. I replaced the factory fuel pump at 210K for only $58 on Ebay. After several minutes of waiting for the passlock system to restart, I bypassed it with a resistor (you can look it up online). I replaced the brakes with ceramic pads (avoid using semi-metallic ones) and it's been two years now with no problems. Last year, as a preventive maintenance measure, I replaced the timing chain, water pump, and thermostat at 218K, even though I wasn't having any issues with them. I have never had any random lights on the dash, but whenever I see the Service Vehicle Soon light, it usually means there is a blown bulb or fuse. My only complaint is the rough idle, but with almost 223K miles, I guess it has given me a lot for the money. Update: I replaced all the mounts, even the ones that looked I love going to 99c stores and finding great synthetic items for only $2.99! When I first start my car, I take it easy and don't drive too aggressively. I think this has helped me keep my car in great condition. In fact, my car just hit 281,000 miles on the same engine and it's still running strong! It's both powerful and fuel-efficient, which is amazing. I even had some people try to race me! Back in 2014, I installed an aftermarket muffler that gives my car a cool attitude without being too loud. And the xenon lights that I installed in 2013 are still working perfectly. If you're someone who knows their way around cars, this is a great option for you, especially if you're buying a car with high mileage. It's been 8 years and I haven't had to make a car payment, and I've added 114,000 miles to it. No regrets at all!

I really love this car! I used to drive a Hyundai Tiburon which looked great but drove terribly. After test driving eight cars, I knew I had to have the Grand Am. It drives so smoothly that sometimes I don't even realize I just went around curves. The gas mileage is also impressive, at 24 mpg for both city and highway miles, compared to my old 4-cylinder car which was only getting 27. Another feature I love is how the radio stays on after you take the keys out. I can leave my favorite CD playing and eight hours later, when I turn on my car, my favorite song is still playing. I was even able to test it in the snow and it handled really well, which was a relief since I usually hate anti-lock brakes in snowy weather.
