First generation (S35; 2007)
The first-generation Rogue made its debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on 7 January 2007. It replaces the Nissan X-Trail in Canada as Nissan's entry-level SUV and the body-on-frame Nissan Xterra in Mexico due to the Smyrna plant freeing capacity for the Suzuki Equator, although the Xterra continued on sale in the United States and Canada through 2015 after being withdrawn from the Mexican market after the 2008 model year.
The first-generation Rogue was available in three trim levels in the United States: S, SV and SL, available with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.

- Summary: Problem 1: I always put my purse on the passenger seat, and the air bag deactivation light turns on on the dashboard. One day, I took the purse off yet the light did not turn off. Ever since then the airbag light has been on. The car has been fixed by Nissan since then for another recall, but the airbag was not fixed as they said it was not a recall. When I took it to Nissan to access having them fix the issue last year, they said I would have to pay about $600 out of pocket. The year it occurred was 2014, and the car has not been driven much since then. Problem 2: The left rear door's handle simply broke off in my hand last year. When I took the car to Nissan to see if they stand behind their handles staying on cars, and would replace it, but they gave me an estimate upwardsnof $600 to repair it. Problem 3: The gas guage does not read properly, as I found put when it ran out of gas yet the car was reading a half full tank. Repair estimate for this issue was about $600. Problem 4: The tires always read as flat, even when taken to get filled by a professional. Nissan's estimate to fix this issue was approximately $600. I was informed by Nissan of the Avenues (Jacksonville, Florida) that there are recalls for EVERY SINGLE ONE of those issues for the 2008 Nissan Rogue, but just not for MY specific vehicle.

There were no dashboard warning lights. We pulled over at a rest stop and turned off the engine for ten minutes but the problem persisted. We had to get off the freeway and take back roads out of concern for our safety. We reached our destination, the then car sat for several hours and behaved normally for about an hour on the way back, but then the problem recurred. We only drove short distances for the next month, but on our next long drive the same thing happened again. Our mechanic found no engine codes and does not know what is causing the problem. This all happened only about 3000 miles after we had a new OEM transmission installed. For over two months, we have been unable to take any long trips with this car out of concern for both our ability to complete the trip and for our safety as well as the safety of others.

Contacted a local dealer and was told it would likely be $2,500 for a new seat cushion. This severely affects any passengers safety in my vehicle and should be addressed by Nissan.

Transmission replaced on SILENT recall with extended warranty. Had issues from almost the start. WHY would I purchase another Nissan of any type? Vehicle 2008 Nissan Rogue is 13 1/2 years old with only 76,000 miles. No way should it have these issues. It has never been in an accident! I love the vehicle but not these issues. The affected vehicles may experience an electrical short in the harness connector due to a mixture of snow/water and salt seeping through the carpet on the driver side floor near the harness connector.
- Consequence: An electrical short can cause a vehicle fire.
- Remedy: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the kick panel wiring harness connector and will if necessary install a new harness connector and waterproof seal, free of charge. The recall began on February 26, 2015. Owners may contact Nissan customer service at 1-800-647-7261.

I absolutely love my 2008 Rogue SL AWD! It has all the amenities I could ask for, including leather seats, Bluetooth, and XM radio. Unfortunately, there has been a persistent rattling noise under the driver's seat since Day 1. Despite the dealership's efforts to fix it, including changing the transmission at warranty costs, the issue persists. However, I recently received a memo from Nissan stating that they have found a solution to the problem. Although I have brought my car to the dealership four times, the issue still remains unresolved. I am considering swapping it for a 2010 model, but I will definitely stick with the Rogue because it is such a great car!

After looking at numerous vehicles for a year, I found the best one with sporty yet stable handling, a car-like smooth ride, and seats that fit me perfectly. The leather is very comfortable and provides good thigh support, while the headroom is just enough for my 6-foot frame. There is bountiful legroom, and I can even have the seat forward with plenty of legroom in the rear. I went shopping and had plenty of cargo room. The dash is very smart, simple, and sporty, with all gauges easily readable. The acceleration is more than ample, and the car feels like it's going slow at 65 mph. I tried the paddle shifters, which were fun but not necessary. The grey with grey interior is beautiful and classy. My wife is so happy with the car, I've never seen her like this with a new car. She loves the look, the feel, and the comfort. Nissan has a winner here.

One month into the purchase and I am thrilled with my new vehicle! The ride is smooth and comfortable, and there is plenty of room for my family of four and all our beach gear. Although the view through the rear window is somewhat limited, the other windows in the back of the vehicle make up for it. I have not experienced any issues with the transmission 'shifting' on highways, and using the cruise control makes for a stress-free drive. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the performance, comfort, and look of the vehicle for the price.

Hi there! I just wanted to follow up after purchasing my new car back in 12/07. It's been going strong with 84,000 miles on it! I'm pretty religious with oil changes and I replaced the transmission fluid once, upon recommendation from my mechanic. I'm happy to report that I haven't had any problems with it, both mechanically and aesthetically. I'm very pleased with the ride, reliability, and comfort it provides. Although the back storage is a bit small, I was able to tow a 10' Uhaul with no problem when moving my college-age kids. Plus, passengers in the back are always comfortable. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase!

Haven't used the shift paddles yet.Blind spots. road noise, wind whistling re cross wind. 32 mpg hwy with a/c heater off. Same brakes at 89,000 km but lot of hwy driving but reconditioned for $400.. Low tire indicator on and off. Love the bluetooth, miss a GPS,Rear door plastic hand grab keeps falling out. On the small size though.

I purchased my car from Alta Nissan in late 2011. Unfortunately, I later found out that it wasn't reconditioned from Orangeville Nissan who checked it. I returned to Alta for them to rectify the issue, but then I experienced a transmission issue where I could not get out of park without the shift lock. Although they adjusted the gears rather than replacing them, the issue was never fully solved as it still acts up in the winter. Additionally, I have had to replace the drive shaft, tie rods, door handles, and wheel bearings continually, even though these are Nissan parts. Despite being highway driven and not abused, the transmission has now failed, which is a known issue with the CVT transmission. Unfortunately, it is now 40K outside the increased 200K warranty, and they will not fix it under goodwill.

In 2010, a year and a half after purchasing my 2008 Rogue SL AWD, the CVT transmission failed. Despite Nissan extending the warranty to 120,000 miles, it unfortunately occurred at 124k and they refused to replace it. I took the initiative to replace it myself, investing almost $5000. Recently, at 185,000 miles, the timing chain broke. My mechanic offered to replace it for $2000-$3000, but warned that if the gears were damaged, the engine would need to be replaced at a cost of $5000. After careful consideration, I decided not to invest any more money into the vehicle.

I am really frustrated with my car. It seems like every time I fix one thing, something else goes wrong. I bought it used and it was in great condition, but since then I have had numerous issues with the tires, drive shaft, brakes, sensors, drive quality, heat shield, and windshield. It's been a real headache. I'm looking forward to the day when I can replace it with something more reliable.

We bought this car with the intention of keeping it for a long time since we are retired and won't be driving as much. Unfortunately, we have been experiencing a lot of wind noise in the car which has made it difficult to have conversations. We have taken it back to the dealership multiple times, but have been told that it is a characteristic of this car and cannot be fixed. We are disappointed with the way we have been treated and feel like our concerns have not been taken seriously. We would caution against purchasing a Nissan Rouge as we have not had a good experience with it.

Despite having had two transmissions replaced, the issues with the transmission persist. It is imperative that Nissan takes appropriate action to address this significant issue, as I am paying for a car that I am unable to drive.
