2000 Hyundai Tiburon problems
The Hyundai Tiburon (Korean: 현대 티뷰론) known in Europe as the Hyundai Coupé (현대 쿠페) is a sports coupe that was produced by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai from 1996 to 2008.
The name "Tiburon", a slight variation of "tiburón", the Spanish word for "shark", is the name given to the North American, Australian, New Zealand, South African, and Austrian production of the vehicle. It was known as the Hyundai Coupe in some European markets and Indonesia. It had been branded as the Turbulence (터뷸런스) and Tuscani (투스카니) in the home South Korean market.
The model had been released in two generations (RC) over its lifespan and in that time these generations have been subject to periodic facelifts. These facelifts have attempted to keep the car up to date with various safety improvements and a mixture of changes to exterior and interior styling. The RD Tiburon was in production for 5 years from 1996 to 2001. The GK Tiburon was introduced in 2002 (as a 2003 model) and ended production in 2008 before being replaced by the Hyundai Veloster.

APPROXIMATELY 3 1/2 INCHES LONG OBLONG AND ABOUT 3 INCHES WIDTH. I TOOK MY CAR TO WALMART IN RAVENNA OHIO 44266 WHERE I BOUGHT THE TIRES. AT FIRST THE GIRL TOLD ME I WOULD HAVE TO PAY HALF THE COST OF THE ORIGINAL TIRE TO REPLACE THEM. SHE ALSO TOLD ME TO CALL BACK IN AN HOUR OR SO WHEN HER MANAGER CAME BACK FROM LUNCH, BECAUSE SHE WASN'T ABLE TO INPUT THE INFORMATION FOR ORDERING, THAT SHE DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO DO IT. WHEN I CALLED BACK SHE MADE ALL KINDS OF EXCUSES. WE CANT ORDER THEM BECAUSE THE MANAGER DIDN'T SEE THE CAR AND HE HAS TO CHECK THE MILES AND TREAD DEPTH. I SAID I HAVE A PRINT OUT OF THAT AND YOU ALREADY DID IT, THEN SHE SAID WELL WE MAY NOT BE PRORATING THE TIRES BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW IF YOU KEPT UP ON THE MAINTENANCE OF THE TIRES. I SAID WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT. SHE SAID ROTATING THE TIRES AND KEEPING THEM IN ALIGNMENT. I HUNG UP ANGRY AND AM REPORTING THEM TO YOU. I HAVE A TIRE PROTECTION PLAN ALSO THAT I PURCHASED WHEN I BOUGHT THE TIRES. I SHOWED ALL THE PAPER WORK TO THE GIRL WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT. THE MECHANIC IS THE ONE WHO CHECKED THE TIRE TREAD AND THE MILES PERSONALLY. *TR

I bought this car used in 01 with only 8k miles on it. Despite the fact that I have been driving it hard (including 2.5 miles of dirt road daily, curvy roads, and driving extremely fast), it has held up tremendously well. I have even hit a deer at 65 mph, gone into ditches, and over curbs, but the car has never let me down. With 125K miles on the clock, I have only had to do a few repairs, such as brakes, oil changes, tire rotation/replacement, spark plugs and wires twice, coil once, radiator once, belt once, battery once, and wheel bearing once. I am extremely happy with my car, as it has never left me stranded anywhere and seems to be nearly indestructible. Despite driving it hard, it still runs great and looks nice inside and out!

I bought my Tiburon brand new and it has been running great ever since! It's so much fun to drive, with excellent styling and the best warranty around. The price was very reasonable, and this baby comes loaded with goodies that are standard equipment, including power seats, windows (including side view mirrors), and even cruise control. The interior is user-friendly, with all controls easily within reach. The front seats are comfortable with lots of legroom, while the back seat is suitable for kids, midgets, or adults on a short hop. It's a great car for commuting or just for fun!

I bought the Tib new in 2000 as a cheap, fun car to drive to work. It has been a pleasure to own and drive. It's actually more comfortable in town and on trips than my wife's Accord. I'm planning to trade it in on a 2003, now that the dealers are more reasonable about their pricing.

I recently bought this car and I'm really happy with it! The style is great, although the paint could use some work as it seems to chip easily. The clutch is a little unusual, but I've never had anything like it before. The engine sounds fantastic, especially at high RPMs. It's a great car to install a stereo in, and the interior is really comfortable. I particularly like the leather seats. I haven't had any problems with it yet, and it handles really well. I tested it out in a parking lot and it held tight in high-speed turns.

I bought this car for my daughter when she turned 16 years old. I got to drive it for two years before having to hand over the keys! I absolutely love this car. It looks great, handles great, and was a great price. Now that my daughter drives it, I actually miss the car! By the way, my daughter is also in love with the car!

Hi there! I wanted to share my experience with my 2000 Tiburon that I bought brand new in April 2000. It was my first car and I loved it! I only needed to do regular oil changes and fill it up with gas for 12 years. Although it had a few problems towards the end, it was a reliable car overall. It looks fast and can definitely pass other cars, but it's not meant for racing so be careful! Unfortunately, the timing belt wore out and I was quoted at least $4400 to fix it. Just wanted to share my story with you!

I really like this car - the style, the way it sits on the road, and how it handles corners. Unfortunately, I found out after purchasing it that there are some major transmission problems with Hyundai cars. I bought it as the second owner with 33,000 miles on the clock and a 60,000-mile warranty. The transmission started acting up not too long after, losing 1st gear and not shifting out of 2nd gear unless the car was shut off. Despite taking it to Hyundai, they couldn't find anything wrong until my warranty expired. Less than 2,000 miles later, they told me I needed a new transmission, which cost $1,700. Now, just 1 1/2 years later, I'm getting rid of it because it's doing the same exact thing it did before the rebuild. I love the car, but please learn from my bad experience.

I have had a number of issues with my Hyundai, including problems with the alternator, wheel bearings, and overheating. Despite my efforts to maintain it, the car has experienced significant wear and tear, with the head warping and the transmission failing. While I have appreciated the car's reliability in the past, it is clear that it is time to move on and find a more suitable replacement. Thank you for the memories, little car.

I purchased this car brand new in 2000 and thought it was a good deal due to its sporty design. However, I found that the interior leather wore out quickly and it was not comfortable for taller individuals. Additionally, I had difficulty trading it in at the dealership where I purchased it, as they offered me a price well below wholesale. The paint quality was also poor, as it chipped easily. Although I did not experience any mechanical issues, I only drove it for 15,000 miles before getting rid of it. If you are considering purchasing this car, I recommend not paying over the dealer invoice and only buying it if you plan on keeping it for a long time.

I loved my Tiburon, but unfortunately, it has had a few quirky problems. There have been some electrical issues, and I have blown many headlights. Additionally, I have had problems with the oxygen sensors in the exhaust system, and have had to have 4 sensors replaced in the last couple of years. My emergency brake cable also broke this year with 61,000 miles on the car, even though it's only 6 years old. Despite these issues, it still looks sharp. However, the ongoing O2 sensor problem is making me consider unloading it now, for fear of another $210 repair bill, now that I am off of warranty.
