2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse cross problems
The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a compact crossover SUV produced by Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors since October 2017. It was previewed by the XR-PHEV and XR-PHEV II concepts, revealed in 2013 and 2015. The production version was first introduced at the 87th Geneva Motor Show in March 2017. It slots between the RVR/ASX/Outlander Sport and Outlander in Mitsubishi's crossover lineup.
The diesel variant was launched in June 2019, followed by the PHEV variant in December 2020. The diesel is not available in North America. The name of this vehicle originates from the unrelated compact sports car, the Eclipse. Unlike the original Eclipse, however, the Eclipse Cross is not assembled in the United States as Mitsubishi closed its Diamond-Star Motors plant in Normal, Illinois in February 2016. Instead, the SUV is assembled in Japan, China, and Brazil.
Markets
The Eclipse Cross was available in Japan, Australia, and North America from the beginning of 2018. It was released in Japan on March 1, 2018. It was also released in Mexico in the beginning of February 2019. In Mexico, it is offered in GLX, GLS and Limited trim levels.
In Indonesia, the Eclipse Cross was revealed on July 9, 2019, and was launched at the 27th Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show on July 18, 2019. It is only available in Ultimate trim level, in three exterior colour options: Red Diamond, Silky White and Amethyst Black. The Eclipse Cross was discontinued in Indonesia in March 2022.
For the 2020 model year in the United States, the Eclipse Cross received several changes. The base ES model received redesigned sixteen-inch alloy wheels and all trim levels were now available in front-wheel drive configuration, whereas only the base trim ES was available with front-wheel drive for the previous model year. SE and SEL models also received various standard safety features like forward collision mitigation. Every Eclipse Cross in the Canadian market is sold standard with Mitsubishi's S-AWC 4WD system. Canadian trim levels are the ES, SE, SEL, and top-trim GT, and all have an available 907 kg (2,000 lb) towing capacity.
Despite no mechanical or suspension differences, every Eclipse Cross sold in the U.S. market is rated to tow 1,500 pounds (680 kg) while in the Australian market, the towing capacity is rated at 1600 kg.

I am absolutely loving my new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL AWD! I purchased it just five days ago and I am already so impressed with its reliability and ease of maneuverability. I have seen some negative comments online, but I have to say that I completely disagree. In fact, I think that Mitsubishi's technology is actually better than Nissan's, especially now that they have partnered together. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and I am excited to continue doing business with Mitsubishi in the future.

I can see why you fell in love with the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross! It's such a great car. I'm glad you were able to rent one and then buy one for yourself. It's always nice to find a car that you really enjoy driving. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

What this SUV lacks in interior, it more than makes up for with its excellent reliability, good fuel efficiency (especially if you don't floor the gas pedal too much), and great acceleration compared to most other small SUVs.

I've owned a lot of SUVs in the past, but none of them compare to the Eclipse Cross. Its precision technology, comfortable and safe features, smooth ride, and confident handling on all kinds of roads, especially those equipped with S-AWC, make it stand out from the rest.

Hey there! I have a 22 EC, which I believe is an SE. Regardless, I'm not sure what's up with the negative comments from Edmunds. Weird, right? I've been driving since '91 and have had quite a few vehicles in my day, but this one is my favourite. The handling is actually quite good, and if you know how to use the gear paddles on the steering wheel, you can get more punch out of the engine when needed. I've had zero body roll, and the mileage is great for an SUV. Plus, it has a lot of tech that's easy to use. Do we actually need all these things? No, but we like them anyway. They're not essential, though. My two biggest issues are the lack of wireless charging and ventilated back seats. It's not exactly a small car, so I think that's something that needs addressing. My third issue is the placement of the heater and air conditioning. It's out of reach for the driver and distracting to use. If it were higher in the stack, it would make much better sense. By the way, have you researched the recalls on Hyundai and Kona? Countless warranty issues and engine fires galore. Mitsubishi has a much better warranty, and they're built like tanks. Thanks for listening!

I recently purchased a 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross LE AWD and unfortunately, I am extremely disappointed with my experience. I would like to warn potential buyers to be cautious before making a purchase. Although the car looks pretty from the outside, the materials used are of poor quality and not worth the investment. Additionally, the car is very uncomfortable to drive in, especially for long periods of time. The seats are not supportive and can cause back pain. After only three weeks of ownership, the plastic parts of the door handle have already started to come off, and I am unsure if this is covered under warranty. While this car may be suitable for those looking for a decorative addition to their driveway, I cannot recommend it to anyone with children or those who plan on taking long car rides. As someone who is tall and wears a size L, I found this car to be unsuitable for my size. I am disappointed because I was excited to purchase this car after reading positive reviews, but I urge you to do your research and avoid making the same mistake I did.

The 2024 Eclipse Cross is a comfortable and decently fuel-efficient car that drives well. However, there are a few areas where Mitsubishi could improve. The backup camera quality is poor, and replacing it with a generic camera would be a step up. Additionally, the sound system is reminiscent of early 90s Audiovox or Radio Shack speakers. The headlights are also a major issue, as they only illuminate the road for 25 to 30 feet and fail to illuminate above road level. The lights are non-adjustable, and the sensors in the lights cast distracting shadows at the top of the illuminated area. While the brights setting solves the issue, the auto-brights turn themselves off when there are reflective signs on the road or when going uphill. If you don't enjoy music or night driving safety, this is a nice car. However, if you drive at night, I strongly recommend skipping this model. UPDATE: I have experienced issues with the traction control light and power dropping off when going over speed bumps, causing the RPMs to spike to 5500 and maintaining 20-30 mph when pulling into traffic for about a half mile. I alerted Mitsubishi Motors customer support several times, but they have not responded. I feel that Mitsubishi Motors should stand behind their product and address these issues. Unfortunately, their lack of response has been disappointing. I recommend considering other car brands to save yourself time and money.

I recently rented a 2020 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross with 7K on the clock. Unfortunately, the vehicle I originally rented was not available, but the rental company was kind enough to upgrade me to the Mitsu. While the car had some quirks, such as a blind spot that covers an entire city block and a seat that adjusts in every direction except the correct one, it was still a decent ride. The view screen was a bit too bright at night, but during the day it was fine. The window controls were a bit tricky to find, but once you got the hang of it, it was no problem. Although there were some rattles from the interior plastics and the engine, I never got to experience the lauded AWD. Overall, I still missed my 2005 Scion Xa, but if you're interested in purchasing this vehicle, I would recommend getting an extended warranty just in case.

10,000km later UPDATE: The power is barely sufficient, but the ride is very quiet. The fuel consumption on the highway is not so bad (32.6 mi./gal with Ecomode on). The traction system (S-AWD) is excellent and is considered the best on the market, even better than Subaru's. The interior is okay, but not more than that. Unfortunately, the seats are very uncomfortable and too narrow with unadjustable lumbar support. The handling is so-so and quickly oversteers (coming from a former Volkswagen driver...). The fog lights are powerful. The CVT transmission is...well, you don't want to know. As I said, it depends on what you are focusing on when buying a car. For my own part, I like the look and the S-AWD, which is one of the best on the market, if not the best. Otherwise, overall comfort and power are much perfectible, and unfortunately, I would not buy it again...

If you're experiencing shifting delays, jumping, or grinding during acceleration, feeling the car shake at any speed, noticing a burning smell or whistling sounds coming from under the hood, along with an underpowered air conditioner that constantly clicks on and off, it might suggest that it could fail soon. Additionally, some customers have found the back seats to be a bit small, and some have expressed concerns about the overall design of the vehicle.
