The van I borrowed from my mother had just under 3,000 miles on it in about 6 months. My family and I took a 3-week trip starting in Jacksonville, FL, going through DC, Hershey, Columbus and Dayton, Ohio, Dearborn, Michigan and back through NC before returning home, which was about 2,000 miles roundtrip. The first leg from Jax to DC was about 750 miles non-stop. After 4 hours, I needed to get a seat cushion for extra support. Although the seats were not very comfortable, even with the optional 'drivers comfort' package, both kids got their own seats for a change, so there was little complaining. Otherwise, the dated infotainment worked for my needs, and the navigation got us where we needed to go. The powertrain was excellent, with much more usable power than expected. The engine and transmission worked especially well together to get and keep the van moving. The van made it much easier to navigate the usual DC area rush hour traffic, which was much less stressful. The MPG was impressive, getting about 25 overall on 87 octane, and we have been running it the entire trip without issue. Anyone considering one of these should keep the commercial roots in mind; any of the minivans or 3-row crossovers would be much better suited for comfort. However, for an overall package, you can't beat the overall utility. Finally, I was able to turn the van completely around without backing up when I got stuck in a dead-end street that was about 2 lanes wide. The turn circle is so tight you need to be mindful of curves. Although the backup camera could be better, the lines are helpful and kept us from damage. For a commercial van, it's impressively quiet and comfortable. The ride is very smooth, even on rough Maryland roads. I also appreciate the ability to easily sweep out the floor and wipe off the optional MBtex vinyl seats.

I recently purchased a Mercedes Metris to replace my 2006 Mercedes R500. While the R-Class was a luxurious and spacious family hauler, it was also complex and expensive to maintain. The Metris, on the other hand, is a more practical and utilitarian option for hauling people and large items. Although it may not have all the bells and whistles of a luxury vehicle, it is still attractive and functional, with well-designed cup holders, power ports, and heating and a/c vents. The seats are comfortable and spacious, with easy ingress and egress for all passengers. While they may not fold flat, they can be removed to create a cavernous cargo space. The 2.0L four-cylinder engine provides excellent acceleration for such a large vehicle, and the steering is spectacular, making it easy to handle. I also appreciate the optional additional battery and high output alternator. Overall, the Metris is a great choice for those who need a practical and capable vehicle without sacrificing style and comfort.I had a 3,000 watt power inverter professionally installed and connected to an auxiliary battery. This allows me to power PA audio gear or other items from the vehicle in locations where power is not available. Besides the inconvenience of removing the seats, my only other complaint is with the infotainment system. I wish M-B offered an upgrade option. The combination of screen size and interface are pretty terrible, and it is such a good looking vehicle that I think M-B could attract more families with a better offering here. The audio system is fine by utility vehicle standards, but it certainly lacks the low end of any German carmakers' premium audio system offerings in luxury vehicles. For me, though, it will be used occasionally for family hauling and will mostly be deployed for my small business.

I really like this van! It's huge, yet fuel efficient for its size. It handles very well, although the brakes could be improved. The van is very robust and has great safety features. Although I do bump my knees getting in, like every other van, and the steering column doesn't telescope as far as I need, it's still pretty comfortable. On the downside, the radio and navigation are difficult to use, like every other Mercedes. You would think they would have figured this out by now. The cloth seats hold dog hair like nothing I've ever seen, but they are very rugged. The view from the backup camera is poor, especially at night, and the radio controls are hard to reach and use. The rear seat does not fold into the floor, and the seats are heavy. However, with a few changes, I believe this van could easily outperform the smaller Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey. Overall, this is a fantastic van for the money!

As a contractor, I lead a busy life. My Metris cargo van is a reliable companion that can carry all my tools, ladders, and steel tool cabinets without any worries of overloading. The van's engine is outstanding and has plenty of power to spare. Additionally, it has an amazing turning radius that makes it easy to maneuver in tight spaces. I opted for a few extras, including cargo interior panels, wood flooring, trailer hitch, and a driver convenience package, which brought the price to $30,000. I also added an aftermarket roof rack, and with a small modification, the van now fits in my 7' garage with two full-size extension ladders. Previously, I owned a Ram Promaster City, but with the weight I was carrying, I felt like I was torturing it. I traded it in with 30k miles before I ruined it. Although the Metris requires 91 octane fuel, I am happy to treat it to anything it asks for because I LOVE THIS METRIS!

I recently purchased an Explorer Conversion van on a 2017 chassis and have had the pleasure of taking it on three cross-country road trips from NY. During these trips, I had the opportunity to visit many of the Lower 48 National Parks, national monuments, state parks, museums, and other attractions. Despite driving through the major US deserts and experiencing occasional strong lateral winds, the engine has performed without any issues. Even in extreme temperatures of 110+ degrees Fahrenheit, the A/C worked perfectly fine. While driving uphill during rain and changing from 'C' to 'E' mode, I once received a Check Engine Light, but after pulling over, restarting the engine, the CEL turned off. Although I experienced a dashboard rattle during the first year of ownership, it fortunately went away about two years ago, and now the van is very quiet. During my most recent trip, a small round hole in the windshield center developed into a visible crack on the passenger side. However, thanks to Geico and Safelite, the windshield was replaced in Helena Mt in just a couple of hours - a miracle for me!

I own the utility van 'worker' edition (bare bones folks!). There are several things to like about this van, such as the very comfortable driver seat and ride for a utility type van. The integrated Bluetooth makes smartphone integration easy, and it is a nice intermediate-sized van for tool storage, which is perfect for my construction work. The turbo makes accelerating at on-ramps easy for a small engine rig, and it has good fuel economy. However, there are some things that could be improved. The stock tires (Hankook) are terrible and dreadfully undermatched for the vehicle, and the suspension makes the van unstable at high speeds. It absolutely needs larger diameter wheels to make it a useful utility vehicle. The gear shift is located where the windshield wipers should be, which is classic Mercedes being 'different'. The windshield wiper is on the same lever as the turn signal, which can be accidentally actuated when signaling for a turn. The transmission is pretty herky-jerky until fully warmed up, and the light on/off switch is constantly bumped by the knee upon exit, changing the light setting. The only operational USB plug is in an awkward spot under the console. It is also difficult to add interior panels in the rear compartment unless purchasing MB brand, which can be expensive. The oil changes are also expensive, costing $300-400, and the wheel alignment can only be done at specialty providers, which can be costly. Additionally, the trailer wiring harness costs $300 if not done as a factory install. Despite these issues, I hope that this vehicle needs few repairs down the road. Perhaps most importantly, the suspension/wheels situation makes this a very poor choice for anything but the lightest duty of worker type vehicle. If these were beefed up, MB could really be on to something here. I will look at other options for my next van. I really wanted to like this vehicle, but it is a daily struggle.

The cargo van has been performing well with 60,000 miles on it. However, there are a few issues that have been bothering me. For instance, when I start and turn off the van, it takes about 30 seconds for the A/C to start blowing out of the vents, which can be brutal in South Florida. Additionally, the local Mercedes Benz dealership charges $300 for an oil change, but I found a local 10-minute drive-thru that does it for under $100 with full synthetic oil. The van has also had some engine warning lights flash on many times, but they eventually go off a day later. The radio has some issues, but the phone on Bluetooth works on both speakers. Despite these issues, the van has enough power and provides a smooth ride. I use it every day for work and get about 24 mph. Although I had Ford vans most of my life, I decided to give the Mercedes a try this time, but I will probably go back to Ford next time.

Our Metris cargo van has been a reliable workhorse for our business, carrying up to 400 lbs and being used three days a week. We have put 47k miles on it and have had to replace the tires three times, but we have received great support from the dealership during the warranty period. Although we have had some issues with the strut bushing and the A/C, we have found solutions to these problems. We have also found helpful discussions on the Metris forum. Overall, we have been satisfied with our van and appreciate the assistance we have received. Thank you for your help.

Hi there! We've been using our Metris cargo van for our business, driving it about 3 days a week and covering 47k miles so far. We usually carry around 400 lbs of cargo, which has been quite manageable. While we've had a few issues with the van, such as needing to replace the tires and aligning it a few times, we've been able to get them resolved. We did have to replace the strut bushing at 25k miles, and unfortunately, it's gone bad again now that it's out of warranty. We're also experiencing some issues with the A/C and wipers, but we're confident we'll be able to get them sorted out. We've found some helpful discussions on the Metris forum, and while the dealership has been less than helpful, we're grateful for any assistance we can get. Thanks for taking the time to read our story!

The Metris may not be the best option for everyone. I have personally experienced some issues with my own vehicle. It may not be fair to compare it directly to Chevrolet and Ford. However, it's important to consider your own needs and preferences before making a purchase. Ultimately, the decision is yours to make.
