The Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio are a series of grand tourers produced by the Italian manufacturer Maserati, succeeding the Maserati Coupé and Spyder.

The first generation GranTurismo (M145) was introduced at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show and was produced from 2007 to December 2019. It set a record for the fastest development of a car, going from design to production in just nine months. The model featured a 4.2-litre V8 engine initially, which was later upgraded to a 4.7-liter engine in the GranTurismo S variant. The GranTurismo MC, a racing version developed for the FIA GT4 European Cup, and the GranTurismo MC Sport Line, a customisation programme, were also part of the lineup.

The GranTurismo Sport, introduced in 2012, replaced the GranTurismo S and featured a revised 4.7-litre engine rated at 460 PS (340 kW; 450 hp). The GranTurismo MC Stradale, unveiled in 2011, is a more aerodynamic version with a 450 PS (330 kW; 440 hp) engine and reaching a top speed of 303 kilometres per hour (188 mph). The GranCabrio, the convertible version, was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and produced from 2010 to 2019. The GranCabrio Sport, introduced in 2011, featured a 450 PS (330 kW; 440 hp) engine. The GranCabrio MC, launched in 2013, had improved aerodynamics and a 460 PS (340 kW; 450 hp) engine.

The second generation, GranTurismo II (M189), was revealed in 2022 and began production in April 2023. It offers three models: Modena, Trofeo, and Folgore (electric). Based on the Giorgio Sport platform, petrol engined models feature a newly-developed 3.0-litre Nettuno twin-turbocharged V6 engine, with the Trofeo variant being the most powerful at 550 PS (400 kW; 540 hp). The Folgore model is a battery electric version with a range of 450 kilometres (280 mi).

Common 2014 Maserati Granturismo problems

The Maserati GranTurismo 2014 is a luxury sports vehicle that has been appreciated for its stunning looks and impressive driving dynamics. However, there are some common problems with this car that have been reported by owners.

One of the most common problems with the Maserati GranTurismo 2014 is the outdated infotainment system. The car's infotainment system was appreciated when it was new, but now it is outdated and takes time to get used to. The buttons do not always seem to do what their label says, and pairing a phone is challenging and complicated.

Another common problem with the Maserati GranTurismo 2014 is the high maintenance cost. The car has a high price when it's new, and the maintenance costs reflect that. The maintenance can be around $2000 to $3000 per year, and some components on the vehicle can cost more than $9,000 to replace if they are damaged.

The Maserati GranTurismo 2014 also has poor fuel economy. The car has an EPA rating of 13 mpg for the city, 21 for highway, and a combined rating of 16 mpg on premium gasoline while averaging 6.2 gallons in 100 miles. This poor gas mileage is one of the reasons why some people would rather go for another vehicle.

In addition to these common problems, there have been reports of electronic, fuel cap, and suspension problems in the Maserati GranTurismo.

In conclusion, while the Maserati GranTurismo 2014 is a stylish and luxurious Italian sports car, it has some common problems that potential buyers should be aware of, including an outdated infotainment system, high maintenance costs, poor fuel economy, and potential electronic, fuel cap, and suspension problems. However, some owners have reported that the car has been reliable and problem-free.

What are the most common problems with Maserati GranTurismo?

While the Maserati GranTurismo doesn't have any standout issues, owners advise keeping an eye on the electrical system, brakes, clutch, and suspension. Although it is generally reliable, it is essential to stay vigilant and address any potential problems promptly.

Is a Maserati GranTurismo reliable?

Reliability and Safety

Maserati has not had the best luck with reliability but ever since Ferrari took over, things have improved greatly. Both engines have been on sale in the GranTurismo and GranCabrio for years now and have proved to be very reliable.

Why do Maserati Gran Turismos depreciate so much?

Unsurprisingly, Maseratis are notorious for their costly maintenance services and repairs. The high cost of ownership is also one of the top reasons why Maseratis depreciate at such rapid rates. With its spotty reliability, owners will be on the hook for serious ownership expenses.

How long can a Maserati engine last?

Some models have been known to last over 100,000 miles if they have diligent owners willing to spend their time and money keeping the car in top shape. Reportedly, these cars tend to have issues crop up early and often in their lives, so there's no telling when you'll have to pay big bucks to repair your Maserati.

Negative 2014 Maserati Granturismo car reviews

This is a gorgeous, fast, and comfortable ride that definitely turns heads. However, it's full of quirks and electrical problems. Your car may have to go back to the dealership a few times in the first few months. Navigation, proximity sensors, alarm system, and seat heater have all failed or not worked properly. The dealer has been responsive, and they will do their best to fix any issues. Despite these setbacks, this car is still a great choice for those who want a stylish and exciting ride.

  2. Jamar Marvin 2025-01-23

This is a stunning looking vehicle and it's quite rare to have 4 usable seats in this style of car. The gear box is excellent in manual sport mode, and while the brakes are only average, the S model will no doubt resolve these issues. It's an absolute joy to drive both long and short distances, and the engine has an enjoyable sound. In most areas, it does what it was designed to do, and really quite well. However, I have experienced some unacceptable problems with the prop shaft. Unfortunately, the vehicle is presently having its fifth shaft fitted. Additionally, the rear tires are wearing unevenly and at an unacceptable rate. Maserati has not been able to identify the cause or solution to the problem so far. I hope they can resolve these issues soon.

  3. Francisco Kunze 2024-09-25

I really like this car, although it may not be as fast as some of its competitors like the Mercedes SL63 AMG and BMW M6. The Maserati has a 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds, which is slower than some other cars in its class. However, the Maserati has a superior interior and exterior design compared to other cars in its price range. If you're looking for a comfortable cruiser, the Maserati is a great choice. If you're looking for a high-performance coupe, you may want to consider other options like the AMG Mercedes CL63 AMG or SL63 AMG, Porsche 911 Turbo, or even an Aston Martin V12 Vantage. Additionally, buying a 1-2 year old Maserati can save you up to 50% of the original price.

Positive 2014 Maserati Granturismo car reviews

A bargain considering Pininfarina styling and Ferrari based technology with a 4yr/50,000 mile warranty. The 2+2 seating is larger than the BMW 6 series and the hand assembled interior is awesome. Of course, the engine sound is intoxicating and everyday driving is a pleasure. I enjoy this car more than my 911 and Lamborghini Gallardo.

  2. Cleve Osinski 2025-03-24

I have driven a BMW 645, 750, 545, Mercedes 550, Porsche Boxtser Spyder and many more. Although I rolled the 550 and Porsche immediately following a test drive of the S, I have never regretted the move. The car is special and if I have to respond constantly while driving what type of car this is, I'll take that as a cost of ownership. It's a wonderful ride each and every day on the road.

  3. Royce Parisian 2025-03-13

I absolutely love this new GranTurismo! It's the perfect combination of stunning looks and impressive performance. I've owned a BMW M5, 645ci, and Porsche 911, but none of them quite had everything I was looking for. I wanted a true grand touring car, something to take on trips to the Lake, Chicago, and Kentucky. This new GranTurismo fits the bill perfectly! The only downside I've found so far is that the seats tend to get really hot when parked in the sun and take a while to cool off (Bourdeaux). It would be fantastic if ventilated seats were an option.

  4. Darrion Yost 2025-03-05

I usually do extensive research before buying a new car, but with this one, all it took was starting the engine once. The exhaust note is so impressive that it makes the high-end stereo unnecessary. The exterior lines are sleek and the luxurious interior is comfortable for four adults. I've only had the car for two months, but it always catches the eye of parking valets who scramble for the chance to drive it. It's an elegant car that's perfect for anyone who wants the performance of an exotic car without the ego of a Ferrari or Lambo. Just a fair warning, be prepared to have your car photographed, attract attention, and receive compliments from pretty women. Buyer beware!

  5. Kayley Bernhard 2025-01-27

I absolutely adore my Gran Turismo! It's been my go-to car for the past 17 months, and I haven't even touched my Rangerover since I got it. The driving experience is simply amazing, and I love everything about it. The only downside is that the 20-inch rims leave very little rubber, which has caused me to have multiple blowouts. Although I purchased insurance, it wasn't enough to get me out of a sticky situation. After my third blowout, I decided to invest in the inflatable spare kit from the dealer, which cost me over $2000 and takes up a significant amount of space in the trunk. So, my friendly advice to anyone considering larger rims is to think twice - the Gran Turismo is an incredible car, but the larger rims can be a bit of a hassle.
