Maserati Granturismo problems
The Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio are a series of grand tourers produced by the Italian manufacturer Maserati, succeeding the Maserati Coupé and Spyder.
The first generation GranTurismo (M145) was introduced at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show and was produced from 2007 to December 2019. It set a record for the fastest development of a car, going from design to production in just nine months. The model featured a 4.2-litre V8 engine initially, which was later upgraded to a 4.7-liter engine in the GranTurismo S variant. The GranTurismo MC, a racing version developed for the FIA GT4 European Cup, and the GranTurismo MC Sport Line, a customisation programme, were also part of the lineup.
The GranTurismo Sport, introduced in 2012, replaced the GranTurismo S and featured a revised 4.7-litre engine rated at 460 PS (340 kW; 450 hp). The GranTurismo MC Stradale, unveiled in 2011, is a more aerodynamic version with a 450 PS (330 kW; 440 hp) engine and reaching a top speed of 303 kilometres per hour (188 mph). The GranCabrio, the convertible version, was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and produced from 2010 to 2019. The GranCabrio Sport, introduced in 2011, featured a 450 PS (330 kW; 440 hp) engine. The GranCabrio MC, launched in 2013, had improved aerodynamics and a 460 PS (340 kW; 450 hp) engine.
The second generation, GranTurismo II (M189), was revealed in 2022 and began production in April 2023. It offers three models: Modena, Trofeo, and Folgore (electric). Based on the Giorgio Sport platform, petrol engined models feature a newly-developed 3.0-litre Nettuno twin-turbocharged V6 engine, with the Trofeo variant being the most powerful at 550 PS (400 kW; 540 hp). The Folgore model is a battery electric version with a range of 450 kilometres (280 mi).

Common Maserati Granturismo problems
Maserati GranTurismo, a luxury sports car, is known for its impressive design and powerful engine. However, it has faced several common problems that have affected its overall reliability.
Electrical Issues: One of the significant issues reported by Maserati GranTurismo owners is electrical problems. The car has been known to experience issues with its voltage when it is low, which can cause the car to fail.
Seats and Interior: Another issue reported by Maserati GranTurismo owners is the non-supportive seats, nasty plastic steering wheel airbag cover, and anodyne gauges. The seats, in particular, have been criticized for their lack of support, which can make long drives uncomfortable.
Suspension Issues: Maserati GranTurismo owners have also reported issues with the car’s suspension. The MC edition, in particular, has been known to have suspension issues, which can affect the car’s handling and ride quality.
Recalls and Safety Issues: The Maserati GranTurismo has also had several recalls and safety issues. For example, in 2007, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued a recall for certain 2008 models equipped with the advanced passenger seat airbag weight sensor system due to a breakdown in the supplemental restraint system electronic control unit software when the battery is not fully charged. This meant that in the case of a serious accident, the passenger side airbag and seat-belt might not function appropriately.
High Maintenance Costs: Maserati GranTurismo owners have also reported high maintenance costs, which can be a significant issue for some buyers. The average annual repair costs for Maserati GranTurismo models can run from $1,200 to $6,500.
In conclusion, while the Maserati GranTurismo is an impressive luxury sports car, it has faced several common problems that have affected its reliability and overall ownership experience. Buyers should be aware of these issues and factor them into their decision-making process.
Is a Maserati GranTurismo reliable?
With its largely bulletproof V8 and well-proven six-speed ZF transmission, the GranTurismo has a strong reliability record, despite what you might expect from a ten-year-old car from a specialist brand. Be warned, though, as early examples are now so accessible that some owners tend to cut corners on maintenance.

Maserati Granturismo 2013
- Date Of Incident: 2013-05-30
- Date Complaint: 2014-04-01
- VIN: ZAM45VLA2D0
- Components: STRUCTURE,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: I WAS STOPPING FOR A RED LIGHT AND NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS NOT STOPPING NORMALLY. I REALIZED THAT PART OF MY SHOE WAS STILL ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WHEN I INTENDED IT TO BE ONLY ON THE BRAKE. THIS HAPPENED TO ME SEVERAL TIMES SINCE. I NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL ARE EXACTLY IN LINE WITH EACH OTHER AND VERY CLOSE TOGETHER. EVERY OTHER CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN HAD AN OFFSET BETWEEN THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING. I CONTACTED MASERATI BUT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT EVERY GRANTURISMO IS DESIGNED THIS WAY AND THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I CONSIDER THIS A VERY DANGEROUS DESIGN DEFECT THAT COULD EASILY ALLOW INADVERTENT ACTUATION OF THE ACCELERATOR WHEN TRYING TO BRAKE CAUSING CATASTROPHIC CONSEQUENCES. I ALSO NOTICED ON THE MASERATI FORUM THAT OTHER GRANTURISMO OWNERS HAD EXPERIENCE THIS SAME PROBLEM. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS. *TR

I'm so glad to be sharing my thoughts on this Luxury Sports Car! It's an absolute joy to drive and the engine sounds absolutely marvelous. Even the rear seats have plenty of room for two passengers. I only wish I had purchased it earlier in life.

You have to see this car in person! Photos just don't do it justice. It's the ultimate executive car - comfortable, luxurious, and fun. Even though the back seat can fit two full-size adults, the car doesn't look large from the outside. The interior is so Italian that no German car can match it. And the best part? You won't find anyone else with one!

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share my experience with my car, which I purchased back in June 2010. Despite owning it for 15 months, I have only put 2600 miles on it. Recently, I encountered an issue with the ENGINE light coming on twice during the 13th month. The first time, it was cleared by computer, but the second time, I had to have it towed to the dealer to fix a faulty valve. Additionally, within the last 3 weeks, I had both side mirrors' glass pieces separate from the base/frame with cord attached. The driver side failed first, and then the passenger side failed 3 days later. The dealer informed me that this issue only happened to some 2010 models, and I guess I am the 'lucky' one to have both sides fail. They determined that the adhesive between the glass piece and base was weak, and new replacements had them glued together. Overall, I still enjoy my luxury car, but I wanted to share these issues with you. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

I really like this car, although it may not be as fast as some of its competitors like the Mercedes SL63 AMG and BMW M6. The Maserati has a 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds, which is slower than some other cars in its class. However, the Maserati has a superior interior and exterior design compared to other cars in its price range. If you're looking for a comfortable cruiser, the Maserati is a great choice. If you're looking for a high-performance coupe, you may want to consider other options like the AMG Mercedes CL63 AMG or SL63 AMG, Porsche 911 Turbo, or even an Aston Martin V12 Vantage. Additionally, buying a 1-2 year old Maserati can save you up to 50% of the original price.

This is a stunning looking vehicle and it's quite rare to have 4 usable seats in this style of car. The gear box is excellent in manual sport mode, and while the brakes are only average, the S model will no doubt resolve these issues. It's an absolute joy to drive both long and short distances, and the engine has an enjoyable sound. In most areas, it does what it was designed to do, and really quite well. However, I have experienced some unacceptable problems with the prop shaft. Unfortunately, the vehicle is presently having its fifth shaft fitted. Additionally, the rear tires are wearing unevenly and at an unacceptable rate. Maserati has not been able to identify the cause or solution to the problem so far. I hope they can resolve these issues soon.
