The Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio are a series of grand tourers produced by the Italian manufacturer Maserati, succeeding the Maserati Coupé and Spyder.

The first generation GranTurismo (M145) was introduced at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show and was produced from 2007 to December 2019. It set a record for the fastest development of a car, going from design to production in just nine months. The model featured a 4.2-litre V8 engine initially, which was later upgraded to a 4.7-liter engine in the GranTurismo S variant. The GranTurismo MC, a racing version developed for the FIA GT4 European Cup, and the GranTurismo MC Sport Line, a customisation programme, were also part of the lineup.

The GranTurismo Sport, introduced in 2012, replaced the GranTurismo S and featured a revised 4.7-litre engine rated at 460 PS (340 kW; 450 hp). The GranTurismo MC Stradale, unveiled in 2011, is a more aerodynamic version with a 450 PS (330 kW; 440 hp) engine and reaching a top speed of 303 kilometres per hour (188 mph). The GranCabrio, the convertible version, was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and produced from 2010 to 2019. The GranCabrio Sport, introduced in 2011, featured a 450 PS (330 kW; 440 hp) engine. The GranCabrio MC, launched in 2013, had improved aerodynamics and a 460 PS (340 kW; 450 hp) engine.

The second generation, GranTurismo II (M189), was revealed in 2022 and began production in April 2023. It offers three models: Modena, Trofeo, and Folgore (electric). Based on the Giorgio Sport platform, petrol engined models feature a newly-developed 3.0-litre Nettuno twin-turbocharged V6 engine, with the Trofeo variant being the most powerful at 550 PS (400 kW; 540 hp). The Folgore model is a battery electric version with a range of 450 kilometres (280 mi).

Common 2010 Maserati Granturismo problems

The Maserati GranTurismo, introduced in 2007, is a stylish and luxurious Italian sports car that has faced several challenges over its 12-year production run. While it has been praised for its stunning looks and impressive performance, there are several reasons why potential buyers might want to consider other options.

One of the significant issues with the GranTurismo is its lack of modern infotainment and safety features. The car was not updated significantly during its production run, making it challenging to keep up with the times.

Another issue with the GranTurismo is its limited interior space. While the front seats are comfortable, the rear seats are cramped, making it less practical for carrying passengers. Additionally, the car lacks cargo room, which can be a problem for those who need to transport larger items.

The GranTurismo's infotainment system is also outdated and can be challenging to use. Pairing a phone is particularly complicated, and the system's buttons do not always correspond to their labels, making it difficult to navigate.

In terms of safety features, the GranTurismo offers only basic features such as antilock brakes, stability and traction control, and front-seat side airbags. Rivals like the BMW 6 Series offer better features like parking sensors, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and auto emergency braking (AEB).

The GranTurismo also has a high maintenance cost, with annual maintenance costs estimated to be around $2000 to $3000. Some components, such as the engine and transmission, can cost more than $9,000 to replace if damaged.

Finally, the GranTurismo has poor fuel economy, with an EPA rating of 13 mpg for the city, 21 for highway, and a combined rating of 16 mpg on premium gasoline. This poor fuel economy, combined with the car's high maintenance costs, can make it an expensive vehicle to own and operate.

While the Maserati GranTurismo is a beautiful and stylish car, its lack of modern features, limited interior space, outdated infotainment system, high maintenance costs, and poor fuel economy make it a car that potential buyers might want to avoid.

Negative 2010 Maserati Granturismo car reviews

This is a stunning looking vehicle and it's quite rare to have 4 usable seats in this style of car. The gear box is excellent in manual sport mode, and while the brakes are only average, the S model will no doubt resolve these issues. It's an absolute joy to drive both long and short distances, and the engine has an enjoyable sound. In most areas, it does what it was designed to do, and really quite well. However, I have experienced some unacceptable problems with the prop shaft. Unfortunately, the vehicle is presently having its fifth shaft fitted. Additionally, the rear tires are wearing unevenly and at an unacceptable rate. Maserati has not been able to identify the cause or solution to the problem so far. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Positive 2010 Maserati Granturismo car reviews

A bargain considering Pininfarina styling and Ferrari based technology with a 4yr/50,000 mile warranty. The 2+2 seating is larger than the BMW 6 series and the hand assembled interior is awesome. Of course, the engine sound is intoxicating and everyday driving is a pleasure. I enjoy this car more than my 911 and Lamborghini Gallardo.

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to share my experience with my car, which I purchased back in June 2010. Despite owning it for 15 months, I have only put 2600 miles on it. Recently, I encountered an issue with the ENGINE light coming on twice during the 13th month. The first time, it was cleared by computer, but the second time, I had to have it towed to the dealer to fix a faulty valve. Additionally, within the last 3 weeks, I had both side mirrors' glass pieces separate from the base/frame with cord attached. The driver side failed first, and then the passenger side failed 3 days later. The dealer informed me that this issue only happened to some 2010 models, and I guess I am the 'lucky' one to have both sides fail. They determined that the adhesive between the glass piece and base was weak, and new replacements had them glued together. Overall, I still enjoy my luxury car, but I wanted to share these issues with you. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

I'm so glad to be sharing my thoughts on this Luxury Sports Car! It's an absolute joy to drive and the engine sounds absolutely marvelous. Even the rear seats have plenty of room for two passengers. I only wish I had purchased it earlier in life.

  4. Jayden Ruecker 2024-03-01

I absolutely love this new GranTurismo! It's the perfect combination of stunning looks and impressive performance. I've owned a BMW M5, 645ci, and Porsche 911, but none of them quite had everything I was looking for. I wanted a true grand touring car, something to take on trips to the Lake, Chicago, and Kentucky. This new GranTurismo fits the bill perfectly! The only downside I've found so far is that the seats tend to get really hot when parked in the sun and take a while to cool off (Bourdeaux). It would be fantastic if ventilated seats were an option.

  5. Stanton Gutkowski 2024-01-21

You have to see this car in person! Photos just don't do it justice. It's the ultimate executive car - comfortable, luxurious, and fun. Even though the back seat can fit two full-size adults, the car doesn't look large from the outside. The interior is so Italian that no German car can match it. And the best part? You won't find anyone else with one!
