The Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio are a series of grand tourers produced by the Italian manufacturer Maserati, succeeding the Maserati Coupé and Spyder.

The first generation GranTurismo (M145) was introduced at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show and was produced from 2007 to December 2019. It set a record for the fastest development of a car, going from design to production in just nine months. The model featured a 4.2-litre V8 engine initially, which was later upgraded to a 4.7-liter engine in the GranTurismo S variant. The GranTurismo MC, a racing version developed for the FIA GT4 European Cup, and the GranTurismo MC Sport Line, a customisation programme, were also part of the lineup.

The GranTurismo Sport, introduced in 2012, replaced the GranTurismo S and featured a revised 4.7-litre engine rated at 460 PS (340 kW; 450 hp). The GranTurismo MC Stradale, unveiled in 2011, is a more aerodynamic version with a 450 PS (330 kW; 440 hp) engine and reaching a top speed of 303 kilometres per hour (188 mph). The GranCabrio, the convertible version, was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and produced from 2010 to 2019. The GranCabrio Sport, introduced in 2011, featured a 450 PS (330 kW; 440 hp) engine. The GranCabrio MC, launched in 2013, had improved aerodynamics and a 460 PS (340 kW; 450 hp) engine.

The second generation, GranTurismo II (M189), was revealed in 2022 and began production in April 2023. It offers three models: Modena, Trofeo, and Folgore (electric). Based on the Giorgio Sport platform, petrol engined models feature a newly-developed 3.0-litre Nettuno twin-turbocharged V6 engine, with the Trofeo variant being the most powerful at 550 PS (400 kW; 540 hp). The Folgore model is a battery electric version with a range of 450 kilometres (280 mi).

Negative 2017 Maserati Granturismo car reviews

  1. Perry Swaniawski 2025-01-22

This is a stunning looking vehicle and it's quite rare to have 4 usable seats in this style of car. The gear box is excellent in manual sport mode, and while the brakes are only average, the S model will no doubt resolve these issues. It's an absolute joy to drive both long and short distances, and the engine has an enjoyable sound. In most areas, it does what it was designed to do, and really quite well. However, I have experienced some unacceptable problems with the prop shaft. Unfortunately, the vehicle is presently having its fifth shaft fitted. Additionally, the rear tires are wearing unevenly and at an unacceptable rate. Maserati has not been able to identify the cause or solution to the problem so far. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

  2. Antwan Kassulke 2024-10-23

I really like this car, although it may not be as fast as some of its competitors like the Mercedes SL63 AMG and BMW M6. The Maserati has a 0-60 time of 5.1 seconds, which is slower than some other cars in its class. However, the Maserati has a superior interior and exterior design compared to other cars in its price range. If you're looking for a comfortable cruiser, the Maserati is a great choice. If you're looking for a high-performance coupe, you may want to consider other options like the AMG Mercedes CL63 AMG or SL63 AMG, Porsche 911 Turbo, or even an Aston Martin V12 Vantage. Additionally, buying a 1-2 year old Maserati can save you up to 50% of the original price.

  3. Keven Dibbert 2024-05-12

It's a beautiful car, very stylish. Although it may be considered more of a girls' car, it still has its charm. Unfortunately, it may not be the best choice for a man looking for a high-performance vehicle, as it tends to get beat by Mustang GTs and other performance cars. However, it does handle well. It may not have the horsepower or brute force, but it's definitely a showstopper!

Positive 2017 Maserati Granturismo car reviews

  1. Gregorio Conn 2025-03-12

I usually do extensive research before buying a new car, but with this one, all it took was starting the engine once. The exhaust note is so impressive that it makes the high-end stereo unnecessary. The exterior lines are sleek and the luxurious interior is comfortable for four adults. I've only had the car for two months, but it always catches the eye of parking valets who scramble for the chance to drive it. It's an elegant car that's perfect for anyone who wants the performance of an exotic car without the ego of a Ferrari or Lambo. Just a fair warning, be prepared to have your car photographed, attract attention, and receive compliments from pretty women. Buyer beware!

  2. Rocky Wisozk 2025-03-11

I researched this car for years before purchasing. What has emerged is an incredibly reliable automobile that has the perfect blend of refined luxury and a sensual, thrilling driving experience that you can share with another couple. The silhouette is classical pininfarini svelt. Fit and finish is superb. The cabin wraps you in fine Italian leather that fits like a tailored suit. The electronics could use some updating (adding a backup camera and smartphone interface would be great), but the sound will arouse your primal instincts every time you hear it. The paint is what you would expect from Ferrari and the power gets to the rear wheels like a racehorse claws at the ground. This car is destined to stand the test of time and reveal itself as a pinnacle of automotive engineering.

  3. Domenic Auer 2025-03-09

I've had the pleasure of driving sports cars in the 60-100K range before, and while I enjoyed the speed, I didn't always appreciate the stiff suspension when driving on the pothole-filled streets and highways in and around New York City. Recently, I decided to up the ante and purchased a new 2013 Maserati Granturismo Sport, and let me tell you, it's worth every penny and more. This car is like having two cars in one - a sports car with plenty of power, great handling, and a sound that never gets old (sport on). Not only is it beautiful, but it's also incredibly comfortable for long-distance trips with the whole family thanks to a push button on the dash that transforms it into a luxurious tourer.

  4. Keshaun Gutkowski 2025-02-07

Absolutely gorgeous rolling sculpture with looks that can make a grown man cry. Designed by the famed Pininfarina and with a Ferrari sourced engine that sounds out of this world. If you're looking for a winner, consider buying a well-maintained, low-mileage one at the lowest curve of depreciation.

  5. Dean Hammes 2025-01-19

I absolutely love this new GranTurismo! It's the perfect combination of stunning looks and impressive performance. I've owned a BMW M5, 645ci, and Porsche 911, but none of them quite had everything I was looking for. I wanted a true grand touring car, something to take on trips to the Lake, Chicago, and Kentucky. This new GranTurismo fits the bill perfectly! The only downside I've found so far is that the seats tend to get really hot when parked in the sun and take a while to cool off (Bourdeaux). It would be fantastic if ventilated seats were an option.
