- Summary: I was driving east from Austin, Tx on [XXX], and as I approached a major intersection in Elgin, Tx., a warning light appeared on my dashboard that said "hybrid system failure: pull over safely". I was able to pull over into the left turn lane and then was barely able to make it over a curb and onto a highway median strip, before my car engine stopped and all dashboard lights went out. This happened in about 30 seconds. My two year old car with fewer than 30,000 miles on it went completely dead. It would not start even after several attempts. I called Kia roadside assistance, and was told I needed to have the car towed to a dealership. The tow truck driver backed the car into the space they indicated at the dealership, and it started to roll forward as it was apparently in neutral. He had to borrow a board to put under the back wheels. Days later I was told to come get the car, as it had been repaired. When I got there, it was in the same space with the board still under the wheels. I was told it just had needed a software update. (SA553A). I was never notified that my vehicle needed this update, and would just stop wherever: i.e. on a hwy with no shoulders, at night, etc. and that I would be unable to brake the car, or drive it, or put on emergency warning lights after 30 seconds. This was unbelievably unsafe. I am [XXX]. What if I were a family with children on board and it happened on a highway at night??? - Summary: I purchased a 2020 Sportage in 2022 from St.Cloud Honda in St. Cloud, MN. Recently my engine locked up after no oil. I was over in mileage, but had an oil change in April. I would receive warning lights for tire pressures but never received an indication that my oil was low until my engine seized. I don't understand why a critical component for the car, the oil, would not issue an indication that it was low until it was empty (too late). During my recent problem, my oil light came on as did the battery light, but the car stalled at that moment. During my last oil change in April, I let the advisor know that my engine light was on (not oil nor battery). The mechanic said it was from a previous repair, but there wasn't anything detected. They had the light turned off and then as soon as I left the dealership it turned back on. When I called back to let them know, they said it wasn't anything. That was a relief because I didn't want anything to be wrong with my engine. My vehicle is currently at Cornerstone Kia in Elk River, MN should you have anything to discuss with the advisors.

- Summary: Hood latch seccondary safety latch did not catch hood and hood flew up causing inability to see and luckily only damage the car itself. This is a dangerous problem with Kia and should be investigated for the safety catch becoming corroded and sticky. Its design is defective and it should be recalled and reworked so that it can not become corroded and sieze preventing safe operation in the event the primary latch comes unclipped while driving down the road at speed if a person were to accidentally pull the hood release in motion or it it were so fail to hold adequately.

The LX has a decent radio, but the AWD is truly exceptional. I highly recommend this feature because it has served me well, even during my daily commute of over 100 miles. I have complete confidence in the AWD and have never been stuck in snow or mud. I gave it a 4-star rating for tech because it did not come with a navigation system and the voice command takes some getting used to. You have to speak slowly and repeat yourself several times for it to work. Additionally, the USB port is in a bad spot, making it difficult to use if you have sunglasses or other items on the tray. However, I have over 110,000 miles on my Sportage, which is a leftover 2013 model, and it still runs great. I get an impressive 29 mpg on the highway, which is mainly what I do. Unless you do a lot of city driving, I'm not sure why some people report getting bad mpg, unless they're driving a Subaru, haha!

I'm glad to hear that you've had minimal issues with your car since purchasing it. It seems like you've experienced some common problems, such as the torn boot on the ball joint and window channel issues, which I've heard can happen with Japanese cars. It's also understandable that rust developed in the radiator after 85000 miles of use. The only potential issue you mentioned is the clutch slave, which began to leak after 145000 miles of use. I have had it for 2 months and I absolutely love it! My three-year-old son is also a big fan. The unique color really caught my eye and I have received so many compliments on it. As someone who is 5'2, I have plenty of space inside. The car is also equipped with a backup camera and Bluetooth connection, which are both very convenient features. The only minor issue I have noticed is the plastic edges on the outside of the car, but overall I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.

... because I can't. Been in the shop over 20 times, the first time being 2 months after I got it for a leaky fuel line. The fan belts make it sound like a Singer Sewing Machine and they can't EVER seem to fix them. It's been a frustrating experience. I'm trading it in on a MINI when I graduate.

The 2019 Kia Sportage is a good value, although it may not be the perfect car for everyone. I personally have the turbocharged model with all the bells and whistles, except for all-wheel drive. If I had to choose again, I would definitely opt for the all-wheel drive, as the turbocharged model tends to have too much front wheel spin. While the panoramic sunroof is a nice feature, I personally find it a bit annoying and would prefer a smaller, more traditional sunroof. The premium Harman Kardon audio system is decent, but not the best I've heard in a car. In fact, I've experienced better base audio systems in other cars. The brake feel and response could use some improvement, as sometimes even the slightest touch of the brake pedal causes the car to halt abruptly, which can be a bit jarring. Additionally, it can be difficult to bring the car to a full stop without experiencing a little jerk at the end. However, I suspect that this may be due to the brake's hydraulic power assist being under digital control. The turbo lag and transmission lag can also be a bit excessive, especially when manually upshifting. It's important to initiate the upshift before the turbo has spun up to where the engine has come alive, otherwise the shift will come too late and the engine will rev too high, past the point of peak performance. Finally, engine performance can vary throughout the day, which can be frustrating. However, I suspect that there are several inter-related reasons for this, one of which may be that the intercooler becomes saturated with heat. Overall, the 2019 Kia Sportage is a good car, but it may not be the perfect fit for everyone.The seat has a slight side-to-side jolt when going around corners, which I remember experiencing in a Sportage I test drove several years ago. However, the steering is surprisingly tight and responsive, more like a sports car than an SUV. The front suspension and steering have no issues. While some may find the seats too firm, I find them comfortable. The ergonomics are excellent, and the engine compartment is well laid out for easy access. Although there are some annoyances, such as the heated air blowing mostly on lower shins in the winter, the AC works great in the summer. The GPS system is not as efficient as other systems I've used, but it gets the job done. Overall, the Kia Sportage is a decent vehicle with some minor drawbacks that may or may not affect the owner's long-term satisfaction.

I have been thoroughly enjoying my Sportage for the past three weeks without any issues. However, it is important to be cautious when dealing with the financial aspects of purchasing a car, particularly when it comes to rebates. In my case, I was initially informed that I qualified for a rebate, but later received a call stating that I did not. Despite the unpleasant attitude of the finance representative, I remained firm and only communicated with the sales manager. Depreciation may not be one of the best aspects of a Kia, but I was able to purchase this car at a great price since it was used. The car has plenty of room, and I particularly enjoy the high sitting point which provides an excellent view of traffic.

As a firm believer in Korean manufacturers and their impressive advancements over the past decade, I can confidently say that the Genesis/Hyundai/Kia lineup has made significant improvements across various platforms. The Sportage, in particular, boasts a unique and eye-catching design that may not be for everyone, but for those who appreciate its distinctiveness, it is a joy to drive. Kia has openly advertised that the latest design includes components inspired by the Porsche Macan, and my test drive of the fully loaded SX model confirmed this. The interior quality, heated and ventilated seats, glass roof with a large opening moon roof panel, sound system, intuitive entertainment and navigation, and powertrain were all impressive. The 2.0L engine performed wonderfully and never left me wanting more, whether on local streets or the highway. Although the road noise was noticeable, I was willing to overlook it given all the positives. Despite a few minor issues, I still enjoy driving my FWD SX Turbo model a year and a half later. It offers respectable fuel efficiency, averaging 26MPG in an approximate 70/30 highway/local split, and boasts ample cargo room and a surprisingly roomy interior. However, it is worth noting that the Kia Sportage, the longest-running model in Kia's lineup, still has some room for improvement, even in the top-of-the-line SX trim.undefinedIn my experience with multiple Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia vehicles, I have noticed that the undercarriage insulation is only done correctly in their Genesis lineup. Kia and Hyundai vehicles are insulated in a minimalist fashion to save on weight and costs. Although my G80 was whisper quiet on the road, it cost twice as much as the Sportage. Additionally, the dealer experience has been a big gripe for me due to the facility, staff, and lack of training in all areas. I dread each visit, even for regular maintenance, and often find myself having to instruct the service specialist on how to fix a given issue. Overall, I believe that the Sportage, as one of the oldest models in the company's lineup, could have used more attention to detail and quality control in its manufacturing process. With some improvements, it could have been a great seller and competitor.
