- Summary: I was driving east from Austin, Tx on [XXX], and as I approached a major intersection in Elgin, Tx., a warning light appeared on my dashboard that said "hybrid system failure: pull over safely". I was able to pull over into the left turn lane and then was barely able to make it over a curb and onto a highway median strip, before my car engine stopped and all dashboard lights went out. This happened in about 30 seconds. My two year old car with fewer than 30,000 miles on it went completely dead. It would not start even after several attempts. I called Kia roadside assistance, and was told I needed to have the car towed to a dealership. The tow truck driver backed the car into the space they indicated at the dealership, and it started to roll forward as it was apparently in neutral. He had to borrow a board to put under the back wheels. Days later I was told to come get the car, as it had been repaired. When I got there, it was in the same space with the board still under the wheels. I was told it just had needed a software update. (SA553A). I was never notified that my vehicle needed this update, and would just stop wherever: i.e. on a hwy with no shoulders, at night, etc. and that I would be unable to brake the car, or drive it, or put on emergency warning lights after 30 seconds. This was unbelievably unsafe. I am [XXX]. What if I were a family with children on board and it happened on a highway at night??? - Summary: I purchased a 2020 Sportage in 2022 from St.Cloud Honda in St. Cloud, MN. Recently my engine locked up after no oil. I was over in mileage, but had an oil change in April. I would receive warning lights for tire pressures but never received an indication that my oil was low until my engine seized. I don't understand why a critical component for the car, the oil, would not issue an indication that it was low until it was empty (too late). During my recent problem, my oil light came on as did the battery light, but the car stalled at that moment. During my last oil change in April, I let the advisor know that my engine light was on (not oil nor battery). The mechanic said it was from a previous repair, but there wasn't anything detected. They had the light turned off and then as soon as I left the dealership it turned back on. When I called back to let them know, they said it wasn't anything. That was a relief because I didn't want anything to be wrong with my engine. My vehicle is currently at Cornerstone Kia in Elk River, MN should you have anything to discuss with the advisors.

- Summary: Hood latch seccondary safety latch did not catch hood and hood flew up causing inability to see and luckily only damage the car itself. This is a dangerous problem with Kia and should be investigated for the safety catch becoming corroded and sticky. Its design is defective and it should be recalled and reworked so that it can not become corroded and sieze preventing safe operation in the event the primary latch comes unclipped while driving down the road at speed if a person were to accidentally pull the hood release in motion or it it were so fail to hold adequately.

I researched my compact SUV purchase using Edmunds and other websites. After narrowing down my options to the CR-V, Sportage, RAV4, and Tucson, my wife and I decided to visit the Kia dealership first. We were blown away by the impressive drive of the vehicle and didn't feel the need to test drive anything else. Not only was it the best deal, but it was also comfortable, fun, and the perfect size for us now and in the future (with clasps for child safety seats on all three back seats). I was particularly impressed with its power. Although it used to be considered a toy car, I would highly recommend this SUV to anyone looking for a little more room.

We recently bought this car as a replacement for our 2001 VW Jetta. So far, we've had it for only a few days, but I must say, I have no complaints at all. Although the suspension is a little tight, I'm willing to accept that for the car-like feel it provides while driving. The power is readily available, and it has way more interior room than our old VW. I'm just waiting to see how it performs in the snow.

I've owned this car for four years and I'm thrilled with it. It's an economical car that's perfect for everyday use and road trips with two or three passengers. On the highway, I'm getting about 28 mpg. The sound system is great, the controls are easy to reach, and it's a nice, uncomplicated car to drive. While there are a couple of downsides, such as the blind spots that took some getting used to when I moved from a Honda Civic DX, I've learned to be extra cautious when changing lanes. Additionally, as someone who is 5'6I take my responsibility to maintain my car regularly very seriously. It continues to be a comfortable, sturdy, and reliable mode of transportation for me.

Hello! I recently purchased a 2023 Kia Sportage in October 2022 and unfortunately, I've had a few issues with it. There have been a couple of recalls and a major issue that the service center near me has been working on for two weeks. Despite these setbacks, I'm confident that the team at Kia will be able to resolve the issue. I've been in touch with their techs and the US Tech Line, and while it's been a bit of a process, I appreciate their efforts to get everything sorted out. I've had an issue with the car where the buttons for the Infotainment, rear view camera, AC/heat, defoggers, and lane assist and side collision warning system intermittently stop working. The car has been to the dealership twice for this issue, and while it's still in the shop for the second visit, I'm hopeful that they'll be able to figure out the issue soon. I understand that these things can take time, but I would appreciate more frequent updates from the dealership or through the Kia Service number. Overall, I still believe that Kia is a great brand and I'm looking forward to getting back on the road soon!

In 2013, my vehicle was recalled for the FCV. Unfortunately, the new software upload had a negative impact on its performance. My son, who has been building turbos since 1995, noticed that the waste gate of the turbo remains open too much during Wide Open Throttle, causing the turbo to not spool up all the way, resulting in a loss of boost and power. I am curious as to why the software was updated instead of replacing the potentially faulty FCV or Fuel Control Valve. Perhaps it would have been better to replace it with a tried and true fuel pressure regulator. As a woman who used to race cars, I can definitely tell the difference in turbo boost and loss.

The starter and battery were replaced at 200 miles, and there have been some incidents of stalling in heavy traffic that the dealership is still investigating. Additionally, the power steering went out at 10,000 miles, and the exhaust system was replaced at 24,000 miles. Despite these challenges, I trust that Kia will continue to work towards improving their vehicles and I look forward to seeing their future innovations.

The car has experienced some issues, including stalling on three separate occasions within a few months of purchase. Despite the check engine light coming on, the dealers have been unable to identify any problems. Additionally, the car is noisy and unpleasant to drive. Unfortunately, the car was also involved in an accident with a deer and sustained significant damage. Despite multiple visits to the dealer, the issues have not been resolved. However, we remain confident that a solution can be found.

To be honest, this car belongs to my girlfriend, but I drive it almost as much as she does. Although the car is average in terms of its interior, exterior, and performance, I have become a Kia fan because of its reliability. We have taken this car on several long road trips without any issues. Apart from regular maintenance and a transmission fluid change at 45k miles due to hard shifting, this car has never let us down. I am currently looking for a 4WD SUV for winter, and I am considering getting a KIA Sportage of my own.
