- Summary: I was driving east from Austin, Tx on [XXX], and as I approached a major intersection in Elgin, Tx., a warning light appeared on my dashboard that said "hybrid system failure: pull over safely". I was able to pull over into the left turn lane and then was barely able to make it over a curb and onto a highway median strip, before my car engine stopped and all dashboard lights went out. This happened in about 30 seconds. My two year old car with fewer than 30,000 miles on it went completely dead. It would not start even after several attempts. I called Kia roadside assistance, and was told I needed to have the car towed to a dealership. The tow truck driver backed the car into the space they indicated at the dealership, and it started to roll forward as it was apparently in neutral. He had to borrow a board to put under the back wheels. Days later I was told to come get the car, as it had been repaired. When I got there, it was in the same space with the board still under the wheels. I was told it just had needed a software update. (SA553A). I was never notified that my vehicle needed this update, and would just stop wherever: i.e. on a hwy with no shoulders, at night, etc. and that I would be unable to brake the car, or drive it, or put on emergency warning lights after 30 seconds. This was unbelievably unsafe. I am [XXX]. What if I were a family with children on board and it happened on a highway at night??? - Summary: I purchased a 2020 Sportage in 2022 from St.Cloud Honda in St. Cloud, MN. Recently my engine locked up after no oil. I was over in mileage, but had an oil change in April. I would receive warning lights for tire pressures but never received an indication that my oil was low until my engine seized. I don't understand why a critical component for the car, the oil, would not issue an indication that it was low until it was empty (too late). During my recent problem, my oil light came on as did the battery light, but the car stalled at that moment. During my last oil change in April, I let the advisor know that my engine light was on (not oil nor battery). The mechanic said it was from a previous repair, but there wasn't anything detected. They had the light turned off and then as soon as I left the dealership it turned back on. When I called back to let them know, they said it wasn't anything. That was a relief because I didn't want anything to be wrong with my engine. My vehicle is currently at Cornerstone Kia in Elk River, MN should you have anything to discuss with the advisors.

- Summary: Hood latch seccondary safety latch did not catch hood and hood flew up causing inability to see and luckily only damage the car itself. This is a dangerous problem with Kia and should be investigated for the safety catch becoming corroded and sticky. Its design is defective and it should be recalled and reworked so that it can not become corroded and sieze preventing safe operation in the event the primary latch comes unclipped while driving down the road at speed if a person were to accidentally pull the hood release in motion or it it were so fail to hold adequately.

The vehicle was also inspected by the fire department who determined that the cause was in the rear passenger window. The failure mileage was unknown.

My wife and I recently upgraded to the SX Turbo from our 2017 Sportage EX, and we couldn't be happier with our choice. We were able to get the perfect color combination of Pacific Blue with Tan interior, and opted for the illumination package and other upgrades. We absolutely adore this car! The turbo is incredibly responsive with minimal lag, and the front legroom is even better than the Seltos we considered. While we did experience an issue with the electrical system, the dealership has been incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout the process. We're hopeful that the issue will be resolved soon so we can continue to enjoy our beloved Sportage. Overall, we still give it 4 stars because we truly love everything else about the car, especially the stylish design and turbo.

I was initially hesitant about switching from Honda to Kia, given Kia's negative reputation. However, I am thrilled to say that I couldn't be happier with my decision! I absolutely adore this SUV. It boasts all the latest features, such as keyless entry, push start engine, blind spot assist, leather seats, back up cameras, and Apple car-play, while also providing ample space at an affordable price. The only downside I have noticed is the gas mileage, which averages around 26 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. Nevertheless, the numerous benefits of this vehicle far outweigh this one drawback. Additionally, the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty is the cherry on top of an already fantastic package!

Update: I have owned the Sportage for one year and I still love it! The 2017 Kia EX Sportage AWD is a fantastic SUV. I really like the way it looks. Although I've owned the car for less than 2 weeks and I'm still learning it, so far it's been great! I previously owned the Sorento and never liked it, and never thought I'd get another Kia. However, after researching and testing multiple vehicles, I found that this one was the best and the price was right.

I got this vehicle in December 2003 with 35,264 miles. So far, everything has been going well. The Four Wheel Drive System is a plus. However, I dislike that in Two Wheel Drive (2H mode), it's Rear Wheel Drive and not Front Wheel Drive like some of its competitors.

I recently purchased this car for my teenage daughter and I must say, I absolutely love it! It's a basic model, but it has everything you need. The car is very perky for a 4 cyl and it's fun to drive. I had a keyless remote installed for $100, but that's okay. The stereo is nice, the AC works great, the steering is tight, and it brakes on a dime. I feel confident that this car is safe for my daughter, which is very important to me. In fact, I'm even considering buying one for myself next year when I get rid of my Nissan!

Despite being a brand new car, my daughter's vehicle has been experiencing issues with oil consumption. Despite taking it back to the dealership, they were unable to find any issues. However, the problem persists and we have had to take it back again. This has been a frustrating experience, especially for my daughter's first car. We hope that the dealership will be able to resolve the issue soon.

This car has a great look, good 4x4 action, and a nice interior. However, it may not be the best option if you're looking for a fuel-efficient vehicle, as it has a small 4 cylinder engine that can be quite noisy. If you're experiencing underpowered performance, it's possible that your catalytic converter may be clogged, as was the case with mine at around 150k miles.

Last year, I purchased a 2013 used Kia Sportage SX Premium package with 61,000 miles on it. The mechanics are great, and the turbo is very nice. However, I have had some issues with the bells and whistles. Unfortunately, within a year of owning it, the plastic frame for the panoramic sunroof broke, as did the sunroof motor. It cost $2,600 to fix, and I had to pay $400 to close it permanently. Additionally, the speakers have faulty connections and go in and out constantly. The cooled driver's seat doesn't cool anymore, and the air conditioner sometimes blows warm air. Furthermore, the steering wheel volume control activates the blue tooth phone settings when I try to turn the volume down. If you want to connect more than one phone to blue tooth, it has a hard time remembering more than one, even though the phone settings show that each device is connected and paired. Despite these issues, I still enjoy driving my Kia Sportage. I am disappointed that the extended warranty offered and purchased through the dealer does not cover any of these first-world issues. However, I am looking forward to having equity in the car to trade it in. Thank you for reading my experience.

The 2018 Kia Sportage has received positive reviews, but some reviewers tend to overlook the negative aspects of the car. When I purchased my 2018 Kia Sportage LX FWD, I was expecting a softer, more compliant and quieter ride. However, the car has some great features such as the infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual zone AC, spacious interior, and decent gas mileage. The car's acceleration and steering are also above average compared to most cars I test drove. However, the ride quality is where this car falls short. The suspension is not up to par and every bump and road imperfection is felt in the cabin. The dealership has assured me that the springs will break in over time, but even then, only a 10-15% improvement is expected. Overall, the 2018 Kia Sportage is a great car with some minor drawbacks that can be overlooked for its other great features.I completely understand your frustration with the ride quality of this car. It seems that the firm suspension and lack of shock absorption make for a bumpy ride, especially on poorly maintained roads. It's unfortunate that the dealership was unable to offer a solution to this issue. If you prioritize a comfortable ride, this may not be the best option for you.
