2005 Kia Sportage problems
The Kia Sportage (Korean: 기아 스포티지) is a series of automobiles manufactured by the South Korean manufacturer Kia since 1993 through five generations. Initially a compact SUV built on a body-on-frame chassis, the second-generation Sportage transitioned to a car-based platform which placed it into the compact crossover SUV class, and has been developed alongside the Hyundai Tucson. Since the fifth-generation model launched in 2021, Kia developed the Sportage in two sizes with different wheelbase lengths for different markets.
The Sportage has been the best-selling Kia model globally since 2016 after surpassing the Rio. In 2018, the model reached the 5 million production milestone. As of 2023, the Sportage is positioned between the Seltos or Niro and the three-row Sorento in Kia's SUV global lineup.
In 2022, the Sportage won the 'Family SUV' and 'Full Hybrid' categories in the Scottish Car of the Year Awards. In 2023, the Sportage was chosen as Car of the Year in Morocco.

SUSPENSION,UNKNOWN OR OTHER PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-02-09
- VIN: KNDJE723957
- Components: SUSPENSION,UNKNOWN OR OTHER
- Summary: My 2005 Kia Sportage dropped on the rear drivers side. The rear drivers side rear constant velocity axle fell out when the rear sub-frame separated from the suspension and split apart. This caused the tire and wheel to angle to 45 degrees out from bottom to top. The rust and corrosion caused a complete failure of the sub-frame's ability to hold the rear wheels on. This was at low speed. This is a well maintained vehicle with no other problems, the engine had been replaced 5-6 years ago. The Kia Sportage of this year range is a commonly used car still utilized today. If this had happened at highway speed it would have been a disaster.

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to let you know that this amazing small SUV comes with ESP, Traction control, and Anti-lock brakes all standard! Plus, with the 10 year warranty, there's no other small SUV at that price that can compete.
Keaton Erdman 2024-11-14
I recently test drove two versions of the Sportage EX V-6. The first one did not have the leather luxury package and the ride was quite rough. However, the second one had the leather package and the ride was noticeably smoother. I highly recommend trying both before making a purchase. For reference, I was able to purchase my Sportage for $21,226, which was a great deal considering the MSRP of $28,990 with the luxury package.

Electronic Stability Program, ABS, and traction control come standard! The stereo is great with a 6-CD changer, and the 'Sportmatic' slap stick is a blast to use.
Mason Walter 2024-08-29
The re-designed look of the Sportage is beautiful. KIA did an amazing job in making it look better and succeeded. It has the appearance of the Sorento but still maintains the lines and concept of the original Sportage. The handling is excellent and very responsive. The location of all the functional buttons is very convenient for use. The upgraded sound system that comes standard is excellent. It sounds like a very expensive stereo without the big speakers taking up space. I like the fact that the spare tire has been moved and is no longer on the back door. You can also enter the Sportage via the rear window instead of the entire hatchback. Great job KIA!
Raleigh O'Hara 2024-08-09
I'm so glad you're interested in the new Sportage! When I went to the South Florida International Auto Show in 2004, I fell in love with it. However, the model release date was not until January, which was a bit of a wait. Finally, in March, dealerships started to receive the new Sportage. Luckily, I found a dealer with a huge selection. I tried both the 4 cylinder and the 6 cylinder, and for just a small difference in price, the 6 cylinder was definitely the better deal. I ended up getting the LX V6 and was so impressed with its handling and feel for the road, not to mention all the standard features. I highly recommend this car to anyone who wants the best small SUV!
