- Summary: Kia Motors Corporation (Kia) is recalling certain model year 2007-2010 Rondo, model year 2007-2011 Sedona, Sorento and Sportage, model year 2010-2011 Soul, model year 2008-2011 Optima, model year 2010 Forte, model year 2007-2009 Amanti, and model year 2009 Borrego vehicles. Originally, in April 2013, Kia recalled 623,658 model year 2007-2010 Rondo and Sportage, model year 2007-2011 Sorento, model year 2007 Sedona, model year 2010-2011 Soul, and model year 2011 Optima vehicles. In September 2013, Kia informed the agency that it was adding an additional 356,719 vehicles to this campaign. The total number of vehicles being recalled is now 980,377. In the affected vehicles, the stop lamp switch may malfunction. A malfunctioning stop lamp switch may cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed or may cause an inability to deactivate the cruise control by depressing the brake pedal. Additionally, a malfunctioning stop lamp switch may also result in intermittent operation of the push-button start feature, affect the operation of the brake-transmission shift interlock feature preventing the shifter from being moved out of the PARK position and cause the Electronic Stability Control (ESC) malfunction light to illuminate.
- Consequence: Failure to illuminate the stop lamps during braking or inability to disengage the cruise control could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, when the ignition is in the 'ON' position, the transmission shifter may be able to be moved out of PARK without first applying the brake. This may lead to unintentional movement of the car which may increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Kia will send an interim notification to owners in May 2013. When parts are available, owners will receive a second notification and dealers will replace the stop lamp switch, free of charge. Owners may contact Kia at 1-800-333-4542. Kia's recall campaign number is SC098.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with the Sportage. We decided to go with the Sportage because it was a fantastic value for money compared to other compact SUVs, and the warranty was unbeatable. At the time, Kia was also offering a $2000 rebate, which was a great bonus. We've put about 27k miles on it, and it's been fantastic so far. The posted fuel economy is 20/25/23, but we live in the country and average about 26 mpg, which is pretty good. The only downside we've experienced so far is with the tires, which needed to be replaced sooner than expected. The 2.0 I4 is decent at highway speeds, but acceleration can be a little slow. If you're looking for the 4WD model, I'd recommend going for the V6. Overall, we're really happy with our purchase and would definitely recommend the Sportage to anyone looking for a great SUV at a great value!

I was initially hesitant about purchasing a Kia due to some negative things I had heard in the past. However, after researching several SUVs, I found that the Sportage offers a great value with its 60K warranty. The car is fuel-efficient as long as you don't have a heavy foot, and the seats are incredibly comfortable. There is plenty of space, comparable to the Sorrento, but with better gas mileage. The factory stereo is also of very good quality. My only complaint is the lack of an armrest. Overall, I am really enjoying my new car!

The Kia I chose to replace my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer was a great decision. Despite the recent issue with the ESC off light coming on after a bad rain storm, the car is performing well without any unusual noises or behavior. I am confident in my ability to troubleshoot this issue without the need for a dealer. Overall, the Kia is a reliable and excellent vehicle.

After dealing with inflated Ford Escape and Toyota dealer sticker prices, I decided to purchase my first Kia. I must say, this SUV seems well-constructed and tight. It handles well and is fun to drive. Even with all the added options, its cost is almost half that of the others. After 30 years of American car dealer deception, this purchase was a refreshing change.

The 2010 Kia Sportage is not too bad, except for its fuel economy. You can practically see the fuel gauge go down as you accelerate. It does tend to gulp fuel!

I purchased this car brand new with only 87 kilometers on it. Unfortunately, I experienced some issues with the stereo right from the start. Despite the dealership's best efforts, the reception in the city was lost frequently. They tried replacing the stereo, wiring, and antenna, and even installed an aftermarket FM modulator, but the issue persisted. Regrettably, the dashboard was damaged during the repair process. I have been in contact with Kia Canada for 8 months now, but the issues have not been resolved. Additionally, I have experienced some trouble with the car not starting on 5 separate occasions. The hinges on the back liftgate also began to degrade, causing rust streaks on my back window. While fixing this issue, the dealership accidentally chipped two pieces off of the roof of my car, which now requires repainting.
