The Infiniti QX50 is a luxury crossover SUV that has been on the market for around a decade. While there are excellent model years of the Infiniti QX50, there are some years to avoid, including the 2019, 2020, and 2021 models, which have proven to be the worst in the vehicle's history.

The Infiniti QX50's braking system has also been reported as a problem by some owners. This can include problems with the brake pads, rotors, or calipers. In some cases, the brakes may squeak or grind when applied, which can be a sign of worn brake pads or rotors. In more severe cases, the brakes may fail entirely, which can be a significant safety hazard.

The Infiniti QX50's steering knuckle or rear axle could deform upon impact, such as from hitting a curb, resulting in a loss of steering control, or possible wheel separation. This issue can be a significant safety hazard and should be addressed immediately if it occurs.

The Infiniti QX50's alternator may also fail, which can cause a variety of electrical problems, including issues with the dashboard display and battery. This issue can be particularly frustrating for drivers, as it can affect the car's overall functionality and performance.

The Infiniti QX50's sonar panel may also burn out, which can affect the car's safety features and sensors. This issue can be particularly concerning for drivers, as it can affect the car's ability to detect obstacles and other vehicles on the road.

The Infiniti QX50's interior trim may also be mismatched, which can affect the car's overall aesthetic and appearance. This issue can be particularly frustrating for drivers who value the car's appearance and style.

The Infiniti QX50's acceleration may also be gutless at takeoff, which can affect the car's overall performance and driving experience. This issue can be particularly concerning for drivers who value the car's speed and acceleration.

The Infiniti QX50's gas tank may also dislodge itself from the frame, which can affect the car's overall safety and functionality. This issue can be particularly concerning for drivers who value the car's safety and reliability.

The Infiniti QX50's back ordered door may also leave drivers without their vehicle for an extended period of time, which can be particularly frustrating for drivers who rely on their car for daily transportation. This issue can be particularly concerning for drivers who value the car's reliability and availability.

In conclusion, the Infiniti QX50 is a luxury crossover SUV that has been on the market for around a decade. While there are excellent model years of the Infiniti QX50, there are some years to avoid, including the 2019, 2020, and 2021 models, which have proven to be the worst in the vehicle's history. Common problems with the Infiniti QX50 include engine errors, squeaking and rattling from the system, engine knocking and pinging, unexpected fuel pump failure, braking system issues, steering knuckle or rear axle deformation, alternator failure, sonar panel burnout, mismatched interior trim, gutless acceleration at takeoff, gas tank dislodgement, back ordered doors, and poor customer service from Infiniti.

POWER TRAIN,ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-10-08
  • VIN: 3PCAJ5BB4MF
  • Components: POWER TRAIN,ENGINE
  • Summary: Without any warning or indicator light on the dash, the vehicle lost power when pulling out of our driveway - we live on a main road and were very lucky not to be hit by upcoming traffic. The car went into limp mode and would not accelerate past 20mph. We have been fighting with Infiniti for the last three weeks as no one can find the problem and they finally said a new engine was needed. There is on 35,000 miles on this car and we had to fight to have this replacement covered under warranty. Now that parts are back ordered and we are not receiving any help. We are three weeks without a vehicle and have no loaner vehicle. No one at Infiniti can give a timeframe for the resolution of this issue, what caused this issue and we are now very fearful that this will happen again - even with an engine replacement. This was very scary for our family and we are amazed that there was no indicator light or warning. The car didn't make any noises and was running great and then all of a sudden it would not go. Very alarming to say the least!

ENGINE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2024-02-07
  • VIN: 3PCAJ5BA9MF
  • Components: ENGINE
  • Summary: I purchased this 2021 QX50 Infiniti on [XXX] and have experienced consistent engine knocking. In checking out this problem, I have found that it is apparently a widespread problem with the engine in 2021 QX50 vehicles and can possibly lead to engine lock up and engine failure. The engine thus far has not locked up or failed. I have reported the issue to the dealership, Infiniti of Gwinnett located at 3090 Satellite Blvd, Duluth, GA 30096 and am scheduling to have the dealership investigate the problem. Needless to say this is a major concern and if there are ongoing NHTSA investigations and findings I definitely want to be made aware of same. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-03-22
  • VIN: 3PCAJ5BB0MF
  • Components: FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
  • Summary: While driving on a clear day with no traffic in front of me or debris on the road at approximately 45 mph, a master warning light appeared on my dash with an accompanying warning signal and simultaneously the emergency braking system engaged and brought my vehicle to a sudden stop. As quickly as it started, the warning and braking ceased and left me stunned and terrified. Had I been in traffic or on a highway, I am quite certain that I would have been rear-ended. Luckily, that was not my fate yesterday but this defect is serious and dangerous. I have contacted the dealer and dealer service department. The service department informed me that they could inspect the vehicle in 4 weeks. The dealer said that there are multiple computers in the vehicle and that computers can be glichy. This vehicle has had multiple computer issues since I first leased the car starting approximately 5 months into my lease. I have received a malfunction warning on numerous occasions and have had it in for service where they told me that they inspected the vehicle and all systems seemed to be working fine even though I showed them multiple pictures of the warning. The dealer told me that I should disregard the warning and that customers complain about it often but that it just indicates that there is snow, ice or debris covering the sensors. This is not consistent with my experience.

STEERING,POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM

  • Date Of Incident: 2022-02-18
  • VIN: 3PCAJ5AB2MF
  • Components: STEERING,POWER TRAIN,SERVICE BRAKES
  • Summary: This vehicle is equipped with a push button to start and stop the vehicle engine. The button is mounted horizontally next to the gear selector switch near the driver. Twice now, while traveling at highway speeds, the vehicle engine has stopped when my dog taps on the switch. I usually secure my dog while traveling with him, but there are occasions when his seat belt needs to be released, usually due to him getting tangled up. If you own a dog than you know that he will tend to want to climb on top of you as soon as he is released from his leash, so putting the button in that position represents a pretty significant safety issue for me. I have called and reported this to Infiniti, and the agent told me I needed to fashion some sort of cover for the button, and ask my dealer if there is a software solution.

Negative 2021 Infiniti Qx50 car reviews

  1. Jonathon Lind 2024-08-12

I've been driving Lexus SUVs for the past 10 years, but I recently switched to Infiniti because I needed more trunk space. However, I've noticed that the ride is a bit hard and it can be challenging to put the car into neutral. Unfortunately, I had a negative experience with their pre-paid maintenance agreement. Even though I was only 1,000 miles over the recommended service mileage, they refused to honor the agreement. It was disappointing, but I understand that policies are in place for a reason. Overall, I'm not sure if I'll purchase an Infiniti again, but I appreciate the features that it offers.

  2. Osborne Haag 2024-08-07

The infotainment system's erratic behavior has been a persistent issue, with new problems arising every few weeks, such as the radio malfunctioning and stations playing on the wrong channels. At times, the screen fails to light up and the controls are difficult to manage. Despite numerous visits to the dealer for repairs, the issue has yet to be resolved. It is worth noting that during my visits to the dealer, I have overheard several other QX 50 owners expressing similar concerns.

  3. Ari Lynch 2024-08-01

The QX50 is a good-looking vehicle both inside and out. The exterior boasts attractive lines, paint, and lights that make it stand out. Inside, you'll be impressed with the layout, legroom, and storage. While the finishes are on-par with the Mazda Touring level, they're not quite up to par with Audi, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, and other luxury brands. However, the driving experience is where the Infiniti falls short. Unfortunately, the CVT transmission is not smooth and can shift between gears at inappropriate times, even during moderate acceleration. This is not ideal for a vehicle that is trying to compete in the luxury category. At the end of the day, the QX50 is a nicely dressed Nissan. If that's what you're looking for, then this vehicle may be a good fit for you.

  4. Destin Towne 2024-07-16

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience test driving the QX50 Sensory today. As my Volvo XC90 lease is coming to an end, I thought it would be a good idea to explore my options. I must say, the QX50 Sensory drives really well and the styling is great. However, I was disappointed to find out that a luxury brand like this still doesn't offer wireless phone charging in a car with an MSRP of 54k in 2020.

  5. Sim Hettinger 2024-05-19

I recently purchased a Used 2020 INFINITI QX50 with 11,000 miles. Unfortunately, after a week, we noticed a strong stench of mold coming from the A/C when I first start the vehicle. The mold smell disappears after 10 or 15 minutes. We took the vehicle back to Naples Infiniti several times, but they weren't able to correct the problem. Despite owning this QX50 for more than a year and keeping it in the garage, I still experience this issue. Luckily, I have other vehicles and don't have to drive this one often. I would recommend being extra careful when buying a used vehicle, especially in the state of Florida after Hurricane Ian. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Positive 2021 Infiniti Qx50 car reviews

  1. London Gislason 2024-10-29

I'm so glad to hear that you've been enjoying the styling, comfort, and mileage of your car! It's great to hear that your wife has been loving it for the past three years as well.

  2. Fabian Collier 2024-09-24

    Nice and cozy

  3. John Jast 2024-09-11

The vehicle is excellent, but I noticed that there are not enough amenities for the passengers. The back seat can barely hold three people and there are no extra cup holders in the back, except for the middle console which cannot be used if there are three people in the back. Additionally, the driver cannot control the rear climate from the front, which can make it uncomfortable for passengers. The seats are a bit stiff, but the leg room is sufficient for average-sized people. I also found that the hitch seems like it was added as an afterthought, as it is located pretty far under the vehicle, making it difficult to attach a bike rack or other cargo racks. Overall, the vehicle is great, but there are some areas that could be improved for passenger comfort.

  4. Trent Lesch 2024-09-09

Hi there! I noticed that you mentioned wind noise on the front passenger side window. Is there anything I can do to help you with that?

  5. Kennith Pfannerstill 2024-03-19
