2022 Infiniti Qx50 problems
The Infiniti QX50, previously the Infiniti EX or Nissan Skyline Crossover until 2013, is a compact luxury crossover SUV produced by Infiniti, the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan. The first-generation QX50 is a minor model update of the EX, while also changing the nameplate to QX50 in line with the marque's new Q and QX nomenclature, which took place for the 2013 (China) and 2015 (United States) model years. The second-generation QX50 entered production in November 2017 as a 2019 model.

The concept car was unveiled during the 2007 New York Auto Show. It included a surround-view camera (marketed as Around View Monitor), lane departure system, V6 engine, 5-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel-drive, double-arch grille, large L-shaped headlights with adaptive front lighting system (AFS), integrated fog lights, LED taillights and an "arch" profile design.
EX35 (2007-2013)
The production model EX35 was revealed at the 2007 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, followed by Jamsil Olympic Stadium in Seoul.
North American model of the EX35 went on sale in December 2007 as a 2008 model year vehicle. The EX35 was offered with a 297 hp (221 kW) 3.5 L V6 (VQ35HR) until it was rebadged in 2013 as EX37 with a 325 hp (242 kW) 3.7 L V6 (VQ37VHR). For the 2014 model year, Infiniti again rebadged all of its models renaming the EX37 as QX50.
South Korean model went on sale in 2008-01-24 as 2008 model year vehicle.

- Summary: The car completely stalled while going uphill. It restarted a few minutes after. I received 3 email notifications from Infiniti stating that my engine may have an emission control system malfunction. I took the car into the Infiniti dealership. They stated that the vehicle test was driven for 24 miles. Could not duplicate customers concern and is not stalling when going up hills. Scanned for codes and found multiple past codes. Drove until moniters were set. Rechecked for codes and no codes were found. No further action required, working as factory intent and design. Called Infiniti consumer affairs who stated that they could do nothing else too detect what is wrong with the car.

- Summary: As I was entering the freeway, the car was hit by an object which came flying at the vehicle from the adjacent lane. The impact of the object hitting the front bumper of the vehicle caused the hood "airbags" (pedestrian actuator system) to deploy. With the deployment of the hood airbag the hood opened from the back and would not close back up as force of the airbags broke the hinges on the hood. For three days I searched for someone who could fix the vehicle, but no one knew how to do it. Finally, an Infiniti certified collision shop took the vehicle in but advised me they also did not ever repair such issue and would have to receive on-phone training from Infiniti. I proceeded to call Infiniti and file a consumer's report. My car sat in the shop for 3 months as I was told the parts were not available for repairing the vehicle. Finally, the car was completed and returned to me Nov 20. There is a warning light inside vehicle that hood is open. Some of the car's inside lights are not working. The car's headlights are altered and only a very low amount of beam light is now flashing while driving at night. I have made several attempts in my 3 month ordeal to get an appropriate response from Infiniti (asking them why they put a device on a vehicle that no one knows how to work on), but to no avail. I do not feel safe in the vehicle and do not like being Infiniti's guinea pig for a device that no one knew how to work on, and which obviously might not have been repaired correctly judging by an inside light still being on that shows hood open.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM

- Summary: A fire spontaneously ignited while the vehicle was turned off and parked in the owner's garage. The fire apparently started in the vehicle's infotainment system. The fire melted all electrical components of the infotainment system and spread throughout the vehicle to the driver and front passenger seats and the front console and dash of the car. Large amounts of soot and debris were deposited throughout the interior of the vehicle. Fortunately, no one was present in the vehicle during the explosion and fire. However, our family was inside the house attached to the garage where the vehicle explosion/fire took place. I immediately contacted the Fire Department when I discovered the fire, and they quickly disconnected the battery and moved the vehicle from the garage. The vehicle was towed to the INFINITI dealership on Burnet Road in Austin, TX where the vehicle is currently located. My insurance carrier, Progressive, inspected the vehicle and determined it to be a total loss. I contacted the INFINITI corporate investigations team in order to provide them an opportunity to inspect the vehicle and determine the cause of the incident. This representative shirked INFINITI's responsibility for the fire and stated it would take 7 to 9 weeks before an INFINITI representative would inspect the vehicle. I deeply want to learn the root cause of this incident to prevent it from happening again. I am angered and saddened by INFINITI's lack of responsibility or care for this grave danger. My insurance carrier will not pay for a rental car for another 7 to 9 weeks. INFINITI should be able to inspect this car imminently, yet refuses to do so. There were no prior warning signs of any risk of explosion/spontaneous combustion/fire. This risk was never presented to me when purchasing the vehicle. Had it been, I would not have purchased the vehicle. We hope the NHTSA can investigate this issue to prevent it from occurring again and hopefully hold INFINITI accountable

- Summary: While driving the car flashed a red light on the top of the instrument panel, then the car violently stopped in the middle of the road. There were cars behind me, thankfully far enough back they were able to stop and not hit me. The dealership could not find any codes to diagnose the problem. A regional engineer did look at the car and replaced what they think is the issue. No warnings or indications given until the incident occurred.

- Summary: My sunroof exploded while driving. The sunroof is a panoramic sunroof and only the first section of the roof exploded. I was driving on the interstate on (I-55 South) headed to New Orleans when this happened. The glass exploded and came in the vehicle while we were driving. It was raining at the time as well and we got soak and wet from the rain entering the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealership on 4/17/2023. The service department at the dealership inspected the vehicle and stated it was considered roadway hazard (a rock hit the sunroof) and shattered the glass. I never received any warning lights, messages related to the sunroof. To my knowledge, it is unknown what caused the sunroof to explode.

The contact stated while driving 45 MPH at night with her daughters in the front passenger and rear passenger seats, the steering wheel locked, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and crash into a ditch where the vehicle spun three times. The contact was able to drive back to the highway; however, the vehicle spun three times. The contact was able to stop the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact's wife sustained soreness to the left shoulder, the wrist, fingers, and all over her body. The contact's daughters sustained seat belt marks, soreness on the right sides of the head, and bruises on their right knees and right shoulders. The contact's wife and daughters did not seek medical assistance. There was no police report filed. The contact's wife was able to drive the vehicle to her residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.

- Summary: Nissan North America, Inc. (Nissan) is recalling certain 2023 INFINITI QX55 and 2022 INFINITI QX50 vehicles. The incorrect door latch may have been installed in the front right-side passenger door lock assembly, preventing the front right-side door lock from automatically locking.
- Consequence: An unlocked door may unlatch and open during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Dealers will replace the front right-side passenger door lock assembly, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 14, 2023. Owners may contact Nissan's customer service at 1-800-867-7669. Nissan's number for this recall is PC962.

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to share my experience test driving the QX50 Sensory today. As my Volvo XC90 lease is coming to an end, I thought it would be a good idea to explore my options. I must say, the QX50 Sensory drives really well and the styling is great. However, I was disappointed to find out that a luxury brand like this still doesn't offer wireless phone charging in a car with an MSRP of 54k in 2020.

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I wanted to share my experience with my SUV QX50 2021. Unfortunately, I've had to take it to the shop 7 times this year to get the brakes fixed. Despite working with the consumer team, the issue still persists. I'm feeling quite frustrated and disappointed, and I'm hoping we can find a solution. I would really appreciate it if we could discuss the possibility of a buyback, as there seems to be a persistent issue with my QX50 SUV. Thank you for your time and attention.

The CVT engine may not be as responsive as one would expect, and the interior design could use some improvement. The cup holders are quite tight and are located right in front of the phone charger, which can be inconvenient. Additionally, there is no designated place for the phone. The dual display occasionally malfunctions (about once a week), and the TomTom navigation interface is outdated. It is surprising that in 2023, this is still the technology they offer, as the display looks like it is from the 1990s or early 2000s. Overall, there is room for improvement in terms of performance, interior space utilization, and technology. I would not consider purchasing an Infiniti again, nor would I recommend it.

The QX50 is a good-looking vehicle both inside and out. The exterior boasts attractive lines, paint, and lights that make it stand out. Inside, you'll be impressed with the layout, legroom, and storage. While the finishes are on-par with the Mazda Touring level, they're not quite up to par with Audi, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, and other luxury brands. However, the driving experience is where the Infiniti falls short. Unfortunately, the CVT transmission is not smooth and can shift between gears at inappropriate times, even during moderate acceleration. This is not ideal for a vehicle that is trying to compete in the luxury category. At the end of the day, the QX50 is a nicely dressed Nissan. If that's what you're looking for, then this vehicle may be a good fit for you.

I've been driving Lexus SUVs for the past 10 years, but I recently switched to Infiniti because I needed more trunk space. However, I've noticed that the ride is a bit hard and it can be challenging to put the car into neutral. Unfortunately, I had a negative experience with their pre-paid maintenance agreement. Even though I was only 1,000 miles over the recommended service mileage, they refused to honor the agreement. It was disappointing, and it has left me with a negative impression of the brand. I hope they can improve their customer service in the future.
