2007 Honda Ridgeline problems
The Honda Ridgeline is a mid-size pickup truck manufactured by Honda. Currently the company's only pickup, it is built using a unibody frame and a transverse-mounted engine. It is offered only in a crew–cab short-box configuration with one powertrain.
First generation (YK1; 2006)
The first-generation Ridgeline went on sale in March 2005 as a 2006 model year vehicle. The Car Design Yearbook called it "Honda's first foray into the true heartland of the American automotive way of life—the pickup truck." An engineering team from Honda R&D Americas, led by Gary Flint, designed the vehicle. According to the author of Driving Honda, the automaker wanted to target buyers who were looking to move to a pickup from sedans, minivans, and sport utility vehicles (SUV).
The development started in 2001 with a development mule using an extended version of a first-generation Acura MDX with a competitor's pickup bed integrated into the rear structure. After four years of development, a Sport Utility Truck Concept was shown at the 2004 North American International Auto Show. Later that same year, Honda unveiled a revised version at the Specialty Equipment Market Association show and announced the official name of the vehicle, the Ridgeline. The production version of the Ridgeline was unveiled the following year at the 2005 North American International Auto Show.
Honda's publications claim that the first generation Ridgeline shared only 7% of its components with other Honda vehicles. Its powertrain resembled the one used in the first-generation Acura MDX but was "extensively calibrated and strengthened" for heavier hauling and towing duties.
Production of the first generation Ridgeline ended in early 2015.

- Summary: WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 HONDA RIDGELINE THE SUPPORT WHICH CRADLES THE FUEL TANK BROKE APART FROM THE REAR PART OF THE FRAME (BY THE SUSPENSION, JUST TO THE INSIDE OF THE REAR LEFT WHEEL) AND WAS DRAGGING ON THE ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC (1 MILE AWAY). WHEN THIS OCCURRED, I WAS DRIVING ON A PAVED ROAD WITH A 35-MPH SPEED LIMIT. MY MECHANIC PUT THE VEHICLE ON A LIFT AND SHOWED ME THE DAMAGE. THE REAR PART OF THE FRAME RUSTED/CORRODED TO THE POINT WHERE IT IS BARELY IN ONE PIECE. THE VEHICLE IS NOT ABLE TO BE REPAIRED AND MY MECHANIC WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME (2 MILES) BECAUSE HE WAS CONCERNED THAT THE REAR PART OF THE FRAME WOULD COMPLETELY BREAK, WHICH WOULD CAUSE THE REAR SUSPENSION TO COLLAPSE. HE WAS ALSO CONCERNED THAT THE FUEL TANK MIGHT FALL OF THE VEHICLE. I WOULD NOT EXPECT ANY VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY NOT A HONDA, TO FALL APART LIKE THIS AFTER ONLY TWELVE OR THIRTEEN YEARS. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD ABOUT 136,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THE VEHICLE HAS A CLEAN TITLE AND THE CARFAX DOES NOT SHOW ANY FLOOD HISTORY. I'VE ATTACHED TWO PICTURES.

I have had the ridgeline for 2 months now and I absolutely love it! It's the perfect mid-sized truck with all the features I need. Since it's made by Honda, I know I can count on its quality, reliability, and consistency - something Honda has been known for decades. I haul my fishing boat every weekend and have had no issues whatsoever. The ride is incredibly smooth and it's perfect for camping with the in-bed-trunk. Plus, the back seats are incredibly roomy!

Hi there! I hope you're doing well. I just wanted to say that I think your truck is amazing! It's been almost 3 years since you bought it brand new and it still looks and drives like it just came off the lot. My wife and I recently moved to GA from NJ and we love taking trips back home a few times a year. Your truck is the perfect size for us and we can fit all of our stuff in the bed and trunk with the dogs riding in the back with the seats folded up. It's so spacious! Even though it's a truck, you still get great mileage and it handles all elements with ease. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

This truck is really enjoyable to drive and has a superior stereo system. The quality of workmanship is great and my friends have even dubbed it the 'swiss army knife of trucks' due to all the fantastic engineering that went into it. While the gas mileage is just 'ok' (17.8 MPG on trips with tires at/near top PSI) for an AWD vehicle, I'm certain that Honda could make it even better by incorporating the new engine innovations from the new Odyssey minivans. Although, for a truck with a price tag of over $30,000 MSRP, I was expecting heated outside mirrors and a rear window defogger like the Honda Odyssey my wife has.

I've owned Toyota 4x4s, GM 4x4s, both new and old. I enjoy 4 wheeling, but it's not a necessity for me, so I don't do it very often anymore. I really wanted to buy an 07 Tundra 4x4, but unfortunately, it was out of my budget. Since I mostly drive on highways and take trips for snowboarding and camping, as well as using it for work to haul water around a flat city, this truck has everything I need to make it happen. I'm very happy with it, and while the MPG is okay (averaging 18 MPG city/highway mixed), it's a great truck. It's a bit weird, but it's definitely a good truck.

I have a chronic back problem and I find the inflatable lumbar support to be really helpful. This truck is really enjoyable to drive. I like to listen to classical music and tenors, and sometimes I stay in the garage when I pull in from work because the stereo with built-in subwoofer makes it feel like I'm in a concert hall. I added the aluminum roof rack and aluminum side steps, as well as a silver pin stripe on this black truck, and people often turn to look. These additions really enhance the truck's appearance. I'm thrilled to have upgraded from a 2-door coupe and I really appreciate all the extra space I now have.

Hello! Thank you for considering my vehicle. I purchased it in late 2005 because of its extensive safety features and fuel economy within the price point. Although I have put less than 2K miles on it, I am ready to sell. The reason being, the gas mileage is running 12-13 mpg rather than the 16-21. Additionally, as a petite driver, I found the significant blind spots in the right rear due to design and rear headrest configuration made the vehicle difficult and dangerous to drive. I believe the headrest design should be improved as the curvature forward makes it very uncomfortable and many people turn them around defeating the purpose. Lastly, it is difficult to judge distance when backing up due to the blind spots. Thank you for your consideration!
