SUSPENSION PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2023-03-31
- VIN: WA1EFCFS8FR
- Components: SUSPENSION
- Summary: I was driving and the car went out of control. I had the steering wheel straight, but the rear end started to fishtail in and out of the oncoming lane of traffic. As this happened I had to quickly jerk the steering wheel to get it out of the other lane of oncoming traffic. I had to slow down to 10 mph to get home with the flashers on, all the while it continued to swerve both left and right on it's own. We had the vehicle towed to the Audi dealership (Mohegan Lake Audi) and they said the rear control arms cracked. They say it rusted through causing it to crack. It has not been inspected by anyone else. No warning lights or other indication this would happen. It simply went from normal in-control driving to a car that drove uncontrolled. I have an open case with Audi USA on this matter as Peter (Service Operations) at the dealership said this happens often to the control arms and refused to assist us in any other manner.
AIR BAGS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2022-01-03
- VIN: WA1GFCFS1FR
- Components: AIR BAGS,UNKNOWN OR OTHER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
- Summary: The Clock Spring is not functioning in our 2015 Audi Q3. The horn is non-functioning and we were told by the Audi dealership, after waiting for that part for three months, that there is a 50-50 chance that the driver air bag will not deploy and the cruise control is not working. I was alerted to this possible problem because my airbag light is on but was initially told it was only because of the horn. When we took it to the dealership initially to fix the horn, we were told it was on back order. I was not comfortable driving without a horn but was hoping it would be in soon. I continued to call every couple of weeks and was told not in yet. It was coming from overseas. Not until we went in and spoke with the Service Dept and kept asking more and more questions, did we find out that the Clock Spring is not coming any time soon. There seems to be a problem with the new Clock Spring being manufactured. Evidently it is the same part that VW uses, which was recalled, remanufactured and than problems still existed with the new part. I think it is not being manufactured. This is a huge concern because I commute to work which takes 3-4 hours a day of highway and city driving. It is a disappointment that Audi did not alert us to this manufacturing problem when we first took it in. Evidently it is impossible to find a used part and not recommended because no guarantee it will work either. They have offered to buy it back for less than what I paid and it is very hard to find another comparable used car that I can afford and won't have the same problem... I am very disappointed in the dealership not telling me about the possibility of the airbag not working and that the horn would not be coming any time soon since the problem has not been resolved with the replacement Clock Spring (Part #5K0-953-569-AL). I think this needs to be told to the consumers.

The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the door actuator was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 77,000.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-06-01

I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying your new car! It's always exciting to have a new vehicle. While it's too early to speak to reliability, I hope that it continues to serve you well. If you're in the market for a small SUV, I highly recommend taking a look at the Audi Q3. Additionally, I wanted to share that I found a great deal on an aftermarket backup camera specifically designed for this model car. It only cost $70 and the Geek Squad is installing it for $130. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

Excellent car for all time.

After driving a sedan for the past few years, I was excited to find a small SUV with sporty handling and all the bells and whistles. I did a lot of research and considered several options, including the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, Lexus NX, BMW X1, MB GLA, and others. However, after a test drive, the Q3 won my heart. It easily sailed over potholes, twists and turns, and accelerated nicely onto the freeway. I love how it rides, handles, and brakes. It has enough cargo space for my needs and is so fun to drive. The experience at the dealer was also great, making the whole process enjoyable.

We've owned this SUV for 2 years now and it's been a great little vehicle for us, especially for weekend trips. Since the kids have all gone away, it's the perfect size for the two of us with plenty of space. We haven't had any issues with it since we purchased it, and it's performed well overall. The transmission can be a bit finicky, especially when the vehicle is cold, but once it gets going, it can hold its speed with the best of them. The SUV is also very nimble on the road. I particularly like the NAV system and the audio system - both are very well done, simple, and stylish. The interior is also very comfortable, even after a 10-hour drive.

If you don't mind spending your days at the service shop, that's great, but it's very inconvenient for me. I've only driven 20,000 miles and I'm told there are no guarantees the engine light won't go on again at any time since this is what happens with all electronic systems in cars. Unfortunately, I didn't have these problems with my BMW, Mercedes or Infinity. Additionally, the service repair shop doesn't seem to care about any inconveniences and won't provide loaner cars.
Donato Lubowitz 2024-09-11
I have owned the 2015 Q3 premium for 6 months now, and unfortunately, I am not satisfied with it. In comparison to my previous car, a 2012 VW Tiguan, I miss it greatly. Despite having the car inspected by 3 different Audi services, it only achieves 17MPG in real-life scenarios, which has been confirmed by Audi America. I am able to provide formal documentation if necessary.
Randall Gerhold 2024-08-29
This car has experienced multiple issues, including back up camera failure, intake manifold failure, and improper reattachment of a gas line by the service staff. Today, the engine light illuminated for an electronic engine failure that is yet to be determined. Despite owning the car for only 24 months, I am ready to sell it and purchase a more reliable vehicle. Additionally, the car lacks several features that are offered by many luxury competitors, such as homelink and the ability to set power seat positions for each driver. While the navigation system is impressive and allows you to link your calendar for appointments, the advanced technology does not compensate for the poor reliability. It falls short in every aspect.
Rocio Homenick 2024-04-09
I recently purchased an SUV, but unfortunately, I am not satisfied with my purchase. Although I paid extra for the Navigation package, I was disappointed to find out that it is not touch screen. It can be frustrating to use the inbuilt dial to enter a phone number. Additionally, I was surprised to find out that this model does not have the option to fold side mirrors or homelink. I am unsure if there are any other features missing, but I am feeling skeptical about this model. I am considering trading it in for a different vehicle. Thank you for your understanding.
