Common 2018 Ford Taurus problems

The Ford Taurus, a popular full-size sedan, has been known to have several common problems over the years. This article will focus on the 2018 Ford Taurus and its most common issues, based on complaints from owners.

  1. Brakes prematurely failing: Several users have reported that the brakes on their 2018 Ford Taurus failed prematurely. In some cases, the brake rotors were so worn out that they almost came into metal-to-metal contact. For others, the compression of the brake pedal failed to slow down the vehicle. This issue can lead to accidents and should be addressed promptly.
  2. Powertrain failing to warn the user properly: Some users have reported that the powertrain of their 2018 Ford Taurus failed to warn them properly when the vehicle was not in "park" gear. This has led to their vehicle rolling over and causing minor dents. This issue can lead to accidents and should be addressed promptly.
  3. Electrical malfunction of the headlights: Some users have reported that the headlights on their 2018 Ford Taurus fail to illuminate sufficiently enough to make the road ahead visible for them. This issue can lead to accidents and should be addressed promptly.
  4. Accelerator hesitating: On unofficial forums, some users have reported that the vehicle shows some kind of "hesitation" and takes some time to pick speed when they want to properly accelerate the vehicle.
  5. Safety Problems: During an accident, the low anchors that keep the child seat intact can cause bruising to the rear-seated occupants. This issue has caused some injuries but is not of major concern. However, it is something to be aware of.

These common problems with the 2018 Ford Taurus can lead to accidents and should be addressed promptly. It is recommended that users consult with their dealership or a professional mechanic to diagnose and address these issues.

Negative 2018 Ford Taurus car reviews

  1. Milan Kerluke 2024-10-29

The 2016 Ford 150 reg cab was a great vehicle, but unfortunately, due to my arthritis, the constant jerking of my neck made it difficult for me to continue driving it. As a result, I decided to trade it in for a 2018 Ford Taurus. However, I have been disappointed with the Taurus as it has depreciated in value by $12,000.00 in just two months. Additionally, I have noticed that the fuel gauge is not accurate and the gas mileage is not as advertised. Despite these setbacks, I am confident that I made the right decision in trading in my truck for the Taurus.

I recently traded in my 2010 Ford Fusion SEL for a brand new 2018 Ford Taurus SEL with lots of cool features. The only issue I've noticed is some hesitation when accelerating on the highway, but overall I'm really enjoying my new car. Plus, it's triple black which looks amazing!

  3. Cielo Ullrich 2024-07-03

I've read several reviews, all of which were positive. I'm curious, though, on which day of the week these cars were made. Mine must have been made on a Monday after a wild weekend! The 2018 Ford Taurus is a good-looking car with lots of bells and whistles. I loved it when I bought it. However, in the four years I've had it, I've experienced some problems, such as the windshield washer motor going out quickly, the lighted number panels on the front doors flying off one after the other, an exhaust leak at the headers (which won't pass inspection in NC), and the air conditioner going out on the front passenger side. It was also leaking antifreeze from underneath somewhere. It seems like there is always something wrong with this car. I don't think I'll chance getting another one. I hate making car payments and expensive repairs! It's a nice car, but the repairs... not so much!

  4. Rudy Macejkovic 2024-05-15

I hope you're doing well! I wanted to bring to your attention that the headlights may need some attention. They seem to be quite dim and could potentially be dangerous, especially in dark and wet conditions.

  5. Leopold Bartoletti 2024-01-11

Positive 2018 Ford Taurus car reviews

  1. Garnet Gerlach 2024-10-23

I hope you're doing well! I just wanted to share my experience with my Ford Taurus. I've had both a 2016 and my current one, and I must say, they're both fantastic. They're reliable, affordable, and look great too! I've even used it for Lyft/Uber and have received many compliments. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

  2. Valentin Ebert 2024-10-22

What a great room! The engine runs so smoothly and the gas mileage is fantastic, getting between 30 to 33 mpg on the highway. I would love to buy another one!

  3. Eliezer Parisian 2024-10-07

The Taurus Limited is an incredibly comfortable car. The leather seats are supportive and adjustable, and they even automatically move back to make exiting the vehicle easier. The heated seats and steering wheel are a very nice touch. While the fuel mileage and capacity could be improved, this car has been extremely dependable. In fact, I experienced no problems in the first 50,000 miles. Although the water pump did go out just before 60k miles, it was fortunately covered under warranty. It's worth noting that internal water pumps can be quite expensive. Nevertheless, the car is still going strong at 70k miles.

  4. Lavon Stehr 2024-08-16

I had a 2010 SHO and traded for the 2018. I'll probably have this until it rusts. I love the acceleration when passing, the comfortable driving, and how it corners just fine. However, it came with high speed summer tires that were very poor in winter in my northern part of the country. I put on Falkan HS all-weather tires and they are great. I would definitely buy another Taurus SHO someday if they bring it back.

  5. Coy Reichel 2024-05-10

It can be frustrating when some dealers are not willing to provide quotes over the phone or via email. They may suggest that you come into the showroom and take a test drive before discussing prices and features. However, it is understandable to want to know this information beforehand. I hope you find a dealer who is more accommodating to your needs.
