Prior to 2009, the Ford Expedition was assembled at the Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan (previously home to the Ford Bronco). After 2009, the Ford Expedition was moved to the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky.

- Summary: Since I have owned this vehicle when ever you fill up with fuel when the gas pump clicks off fuel spews back out the filler tube. I have asked dealers if anyone else has this problem and am told no. I believe this is a safety hazzard when gasoline runs down the side of vehicle and onto the ground. Ford does not acknowlege and problem. I'm sure there are other vehicles with the same problem.

- Summary: When filling the gas tank, even at the slowest setting on the gas pump, when the pump clicks to indicate the tank is full, 5 seconds later the tank burps fuel everywhere and the tank is only 3/4 full. The fumes are a safety risk to people, the fuel on the ground is bad for the environment, and there have been instances when I have been sprayed with fuel. I took the vehicle to my local mechanic and they were not able to find anything wrong. I took the vehicle to the local Ford dealership and they indicated everything was working properly. I took the vehicle back to Ford again and I was told the only other possible thing to do would be to replace the fuel tank, but the fuel tank is not produced anymore and is obsolete. There are no warning indicators to this problem with the vehicle.

- Summary: I received a 2008 Expedition Eddie Bauer edition as a birthday gift last October. By January, the passenger window completely quit working. One warm, sunny day, we decided to open the sunroof. We have never had issues with the sunroof malfunctions. A storm moved in and temperatures quickly dropped (we are on the TN/AL stateline, we get all four seasons in one day sometimes). The sunroof would NOT close. It would move forward maybe halfway and then back to completely open. We struggled for HOURS, had to purchase bags, duct tape, and several other items to close the opening. I had to purchase a hotel room for the night because there was no way it would stay in place for another 100 miles. The next day driving home, we stopped at a Co-Op and a gentleman helped us FORCE the sunroof closed. Since then, we have disconnected the button that cracks the rear two windows and sunroof. My truck interior was soaked. My twin girls were cold and miserable, as I was too. We could not afford that hotel room but had no other option.

IN THESE BLOGS THE INDIVIDUALS STATED THAT THE FORD DEALER WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY OR DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM IN EACH BLOG THAT I FOUND WITH THIS PROBLEM. MANY OF THESE BLOGS WERE SEVERAL YEARS OLD SO I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD SERVICE MANAGER WHO INDICATED HE KNEW NOTHING OF THIS PROBLEM AND IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE SINCE THE TRACTION CONTROL DOES NOT RETAIN FAULTS. MY LOCAL SERVICE MANAGER GAVE ME A NUMBER TO FORD WHO I CALLED AND DESCRIBED THE ISSUE. THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND COULD ONLY ADVISE ME TO TAKE IT TO A FORD SERVICE LOCATION TO CHECK OUT. - Summary: FORD IS RECALLING 158 MY 2008 EXPEDITION AND LINCOLN NAVIGATOR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) AND THE LIMO BUILDERS PACKAGE FOR FAILING TO CONFORM TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 138, Z"TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEMS." THE TIRE PRESSURE WAS INCREASED FROM 35 PSI TO 40 PSI WITHOUT A COMMENSURATE UPDATE TO THE TPMS CALIBRATIONS.
- Consequence: THE TPMS INDICATOR LIGHT WILL NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN A TIRE PRESSURE IS IS 25% BELOW THE 40 PSI VALUE STATED ON THE TIRE PLACARD LABEL OCCURS.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL RECONFIGURE THE TPMS THRESHOLDS TO THE APPROPRIATE PRESSURES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 23, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673.

- Summary: FORD IS RECALLING 123,632 MY 2007-2008 EXPEDITION AND LINCOLN NAVIGATOR VEHICLES. THE DOOR HANDLE HOUSING EMBOSSMENT RETAINING THE BOTTOM OF THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SPRING ON ALL SIDE DOORS MAY FRACTURE DURING NORMAL CUSTOMER USAGE. THIS CAN RESULT IN INSUFFICIENT SPRING FORCE TO RETURN THE HANDLE TO THE FULLY CLOSED POSITION. THE HANDLE MAY BE LOOSE CAUSING A RATTLE OR NOISE AND THE HANDLE MAY NOT RETURN TO THE FULLY CLOSED POSITION. THIS CONDITION MAY ALSO PROVIDE A DELAYED RESISTANCE WHEN ACTUATING THE HANDLE PRIOR TO OPENING THE DOOR.
- Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A SIDE IMPACT CRASH, THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE MAY CAUSE THE DOOR LATCH TO OPEN INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY TO A VEHICLE OCCUPANT.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE INTERIOR HANDLE SPRING ON ALL SIDE DOORS. THE RECALL BEGAN ON MARCH 5, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT FORD AT 1-800-392-3673.

- Summary: CERTAIN CONTINENTAL AUTOMOTIVE ABS AND ESC CONTROL MODULES SOLD FOR INSTALLATION ON THE VEHICLES LISTED ABOVE. SOME OF THE HYDRAULIC VALVES IN THE ESC MODULE WERE BUILT WITH EXTRA CHECK BALLS.
- Consequence: THE EXTRA CHECK BALLS CAN RESTRICT THE FLOW OF BRAKE FLUID THROUGH THE VALVE AND CAUSE REDUCTION OF BRAKE FORCE.
- Remedy: EACH VEHICLE MANUFACTURER WILL FILE A DEFECT REPORT AND REMEDY PLAN FOR THEIR VEHICLES WHICH INCLUDED THESE MODULES AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. VEHICLES WILL BE REPAIRED AT NO COST TO THE OWNER. Great ride! This vehicle is reliable and fantastic in deep snow. It's also a good tow vehicle and has lots of storage. The 5.4 V8 has more power than you might expect, and I love the fold flat seats.

I recently decided to switch from my third Explorer, even though I didn't necessarily need a larger vehicle. I would have stayed with the Explorer if it had a power lift gate available. However, I find my new vehicle to be very comfortable, despite its size, and appreciate the option to purchase certain features as stand-alone options, such as the rear camera. While it may lack nimbleness due to its size, I was pleasantly surprised to get 19.1 miles per gallon on a recent 800-mile round trip. I haven't used it for local drives, so I can't speak to its mileage in that context. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend it to others.

On your third Expedition, congratulations! It's great to hear that you're enjoying the 2WD EL Limited more than your previous ones. It sounds like it has a softer ride, feels heavier, and is more fuel-efficient, which is always a plus. Although you mentioned some soft shifts, it's good to know that it's still manageable for the impressive 18 mpg hwy. Hi there! I hope this message finds you well. I just wanted to share my experience with the 4x4 Expo that I ordered on 1/21/08 and received on 3/11/08. Unfortunately, I had to replace the torque converter on 3/21/08 after driving 325 miles to Lubbock. Then, on 3/26/08 at only 421 miles, I had to replace both the torque converter and transmission. As a result, I haven't ventured outside of the city limits for fear of getting stranded at the ranch. However, I must say that both the selling dealer and repairing dealer have been absolutely fantastic throughout this ordeal. They even provided me with a 2008 pickup to drive while the repairs were being made, which only had 220 miles on it. I made sure not to exceed 400 miles on it. Thank you for listening to my story!
