2017 Honda Accord hybrid problems
The Honda Accord (Japanese: ホンダ・アコード, Hepburn: Honda Akōdo, /əˈkɔːrd/), also known as the Honda Inspire (Japanese: ホンダ・インスパイア, Hepburn: Honda Insupaia) in Japan and China for certain generations, is a series of automobiles manufactured by Honda since 1976, best known for its four-door sedan variant, which has been one of the best-selling cars in the United States since 1989. The Accord nameplate has been applied to a variety of vehicles worldwide, including coupes, station wagons, hatchbacks and a Honda Crosstour crossover.
Since its initiation, Honda has offered several different car body styles and versions of the Accord, and often vehicles marketed under the Accord nameplate concurrently in different regions differ quite substantially. It debuted in 1976, as a compact hatchback, though this style only lasted through 1989, as the lineup was expanded to include a sedan, coupe, and wagon. By the sixth-generation Accord at the end of the 1990s, it evolved into an intermediate vehicle, with one basic platform but with different bodies and proportions to increase its competitiveness against its rivals in different international markets. For the eighth-generation Accord released for the North American market in 2007, Honda had again chosen to move the model further upscale and increase its size. This pushed the Accord sedan from the upper limit of what the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines as a mid-size car to just above the lower limit of a full-size car, with the coupe still rated as a mid-size car. In 2012, the ninth-generation Accord sedan, with smaller exterior dimensions, was once again classified as a mid-size car at 119 cubic feet (3.4 m3), falling just shy of the "Large Car" classification. However, the tenth-generation Accord sedan, with similar exterior dimensions, returned to full-size car status with its combined interior space of 123 cubic feet (3.5 m3); the coupe was discontinued in 2017.
In 1982, the Accord became the first car from a Japanese manufacturer to be produced in the United States when production commenced in Marysville, Ohio at Honda's Marysville Auto Plant. The Accord has achieved considerable success, especially in the United States, where it was the best-selling Japanese car for sixteen years (1982–97), topping its class in sales in 1991 and 2001, with around ten million vehicles sold. Numerous road tests, past and present, rate the Accord as one of the world's most reliable vehicles. The Accord has been on the Car and Driver 10Best list a record 38 times.
In 1989, the Accord was the first vehicle sold under an import brand to become the best-selling car in the United States. As of 2020, the Accord has sold more than 18 million units.

Congratulations on your new 2017 Accord Hybrid EX-L! It's great to hear that you're enjoying the car and getting good gas mileage overall. It's interesting to note that the gas mileage tends to be lower in colder weather and when the engine is cold, but improves with subsequent trips. The car's quiet operation on battery power is impressive and the ride is comfortable with good handling and acceleration. It's unfortunate to hear about the quality control issues you experienced, but it's good to know that the dealership was able to fix them. Thank you for sharing your experience with the car!The Lane Keeping Assist System is pretty cool, but it can be a bit wobbly within a lane and doesn't always follow the exact path I would take, so I tend not to use it. The collision-avoidance warning system can be a bit bothersome with its many false alarms (such as someone in the oncoming lane turning right), but you just have to get used to them. On the other hand, the Adaptive Cruise Control is fantastic - it slows down when the car in front of you slows down on the highway. This is a HUGE improvement over the traditional cruise control that I've been used to for the past 30 years. The trunk space is a bit smaller than other Accords due to the battery, but it has been sufficient for our needs so far. We've even managed to fit a walker and a travel wheelchair in the back at the same time (just barely). The car doesn't come with a spare tire, but instead has a battery-powered tire inflator (to save weight and cost?). Some reviewers have expressed concern about this, but it doesn't bother us. We find the car to be really fun to drive, and we love the gas mileage and the corresponding reduction in global warming emissions. Our passengers often comment on how quiet the car is and how smooth the ride is.

This is my 4th hybrid so I’m stranger to finding how to get most gas out of this 2017 accord. It took a while to figure out how to get the most mpg’s when I first bought my first hybrid so for anyone reading this if it’s your first hybrid give it some time you’ll learn how to get the most mpg’s. I’m getting around 42 miles combined mpg and I do step on the pedal in Los Angeles driving the car is smoother than last 3 hybrids I’ve owned and the size of this accord is bigger than most hybrids for the price they I drove off with my touring for 29k it’s a five star car.

I recently traded in my 2014 RLX for a super amazing Accord! It's really fun to drive and great on gas! I'm so happy with this purchase, especially since it was half the price of my RLX. I love it! I had a great buying experience at Lynnwood Honda in WA state. From the sales team to the detail shop, they went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. Just a side note, I'm 6'2 and 280lbs and I fit great in the new Accord.

I absolutely love this car! It's a shame it wasn't available years ago when I bought an inferior Insight. Honda really nailed it with this one in all major respects. Although I mostly drive on the highway at 65mph and higher, I still get great gas mileage. I can't say enough good things about this car - it's easy to drive, quiet, reliable, and has a fantastic sound system. The styling for this model year is also much better than the 2018 version, which looks like it's missing pieces off the front of the Accord. Haha! This is actually my 5th hybrid - I've had 2 Priuses, but they were too small for us tall folks and too narrow. I also had an Insight, which was okay with mileage but small and cheap/tinny. Then I bought a Sonata hybrid, which looked nice but Hyundai lied about the gas mileage and it was awful - it even blew up at 125K! I'll never buy from Toyota or Hyundai again. This is my 4th Honda and I couldn't be happier. There are a few minor annoyances, like the musty smell from the A/C, the rear camera screen graphic taking some getting used to compared to other cars, and the phone/stereo button being clunky to use and switch back and forth. But those are tiny issues compared to how much I love this car. I plan on keeping it for a long time until I can afford a Tesla (if it still exists) or another all-electric car that can comfortably fit tall people and has a high winter range. Until then, this car is perfect for me, especially since I got an amazing end-of-year deal/price!

You'll love the top mileage and how seamlessly the car shifts from battery to engine mode. There's some moderate road noise, but it's hardly noticeable.

I recently purchased this car and unfortunately, I'm not enjoying it as much as I had hoped. The stereo and information center are difficult to use and can be distracting since there are no buttons and the unit isn't aimed at the driver. Additionally, there seems to be a stability issue, especially when in EV mode on the highway, which causes the car to sway back and forth and requires constant correction. However, I have found that driving gently can result in good gas mileage, although it does take a bit longer to accelerate. I have also experienced some issues with the battery not fully charging. After two years, I have noticed that the oil filter housing is defective and can cause leaking. Despite these issues, I have found some solutions that have helped, such as installing a sway bar and front strut brace. Overall, I'm still working on finding ways to improve my experience with this car.

Leaving town? If you do, be aware that the 12V battery may die while you're away. When you start the car, all lights will flash and the horn will beep continuously. This was definitely unexpected. However, the Service Department can come out and charge your battery. They advise that a trickle charger is needed ($200) plus installation, and that you should plug the car in when you're away. They indicated that this is a common problem when the car is not continuously driven. Although this is not mentioned in their materials, they are happy to help. It's worth noting that this can cause the battery to wear down faster, which may lead to replacement sooner. If you're looking for a plug-in, this may be the car for you. However, if you're used to driving a Prius, you may find the mileage to be considerably lower. We made the switch and regret it. We're leaving town again soon, and we're not sure what to expect. Phase 2: We returned from our second trip and encountered the same problem. The car was towed to the dealer, and the battery was supposedly okay. The only remedy was a plug-in battery monitor, which would make resale quite difficult. It's hard to explain this to a prospective buyer. If you travel frequently, this may not be the car for you. However, if you're looking for a plug-in, it may be worth considering.

I am confident in my assessment that the car is very comfortable and drives very well. However, I am concerned about the poor MPG performance that I have been experiencing. Despite conducting extensive research before purchasing the car and being excited about the MPG performance claims, I have been getting a disappointing 28 MPG for the past 3 months. While I understand that fuel economy may decrease in the winter, I have never achieved more than 40 MPG since purchasing the car in September. As a Prius owner who routinely gets ~45-50 MPG, I know that this is not an issue with my driving technique. I have already spoken with Honda customer service and brought the car to the dealership for evaluation, but they were unable to find any issues. I am confident in my request for a fuel consumption test and hope that Honda will take this matter seriously and provide a satisfactory solution. Thank you for your attention to this matter.I strongly recommend bringing the car back in for 2 days so they can perform the same pump calculation that you have done. It is important to ensure that the MPG claims are accurate and that you are getting what you paid for in terms of hybrid fuel economy. Despite this issue, I find the car interior to be very nice and I like the rest of the vehicle.

I recently test drove a Hybrid at the dealer due to some great deals they had. I tried out the middle trim level and while it was nice, there were a few things that bothered me. Firstly, the vehicle seemed to vibrate more than I would have liked when the gas motor was running or when braking. I'm not sure if this was just an issue with that particular car or not. The blind spot camera was a cool feature, but it became a bit annoying as it would turn on every time I signaled a right turn, even when I was stopped at a light. However, one of the most frustrating things about the car was the lack of an actual volume knob for the stereo. While it does have steering wheel controls and a volume adjuster on the touch screen, there is a slight delay that can be quite irritating. Additionally, the touch screen controller didn't always adjust the volume as I expected it to. Despite these issues, the car is still quite nice. The sound quality is great, I appreciate the 2 screen implementation, and the instrumentation is well-designed. Furthermore, the straightforward trim levels make it easy to understand what you're getting for your money. Overall, I would rate it 3/5.

I am a huge fan of Honda cars and have owned several of them, except for my first car when I was 16. However, I am currently experiencing some issues with my brand new 2017 Accord Hybrid, which is disappointing. Despite its beautiful appearance, the car feels loud and unstable while driving, which is not what I expected from a Honda. Although I have been told that there is nothing technically wrong with the car and that the hybrid model drives differently, I am not satisfied with my purchase. Additionally, I am not getting the gas mileage that I expected, and I hope that it will improve once I hit 1000 miles. Unfortunately, I am experiencing a severe case of buyer's remorse, and the next 36 months will be challenging.
