2001 Bmw Z8 problems
The BMW Z8 is a roadster produced by German automotive manufacturer BMW from 1998 to 2003. The Z8 was developed under the codename "E52" between 1993 and 1999, through the efforts of a design team led by Chris Bangle from 1993 to 1995. The exterior was designed by Henrik Fisker and the interior by Scott Lempert.
The Z8 originally was designed as a styling exercise intended to evoke and celebrate the 1956–1959 BMW 507. Prototypes were spotted testing between 1996 and 1999. A concept was later developed to preview the Z8, called the Z07 and was showcased in October 1997 at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Z07 Concept
The Z07 Concept had been based on the concurrently running E52 development programme. As a result, practical and regulatory considerations necessitated very few changes for the production model. Comparatively, the windshield of the series production Z8 was more upward, and the car had a larger front airdam. The Z8 hardtop differed from the Z07 in being a double-bubble form with a tapering fairing versus a single dome with a truncated convex rear. The Z07's exotic driver's side helmet fairing was never intended for production, in order to allow easy operation of the power soft top.
The side turn signal repeaters were integrated into the side vents in a fashion that rendered them invisible until activated. The vintage simplicity of the interior was preserved by hiding the modern equipment under retracting panels. Complex compound curves were made through the use of an expensive MIG-welded aluminium space frame.

Based on complaints from owners of the 2001 BMW Z8, several common problems have been reported:
- Transmission Problems: Some owners have experienced issues with the automatic transmission, including slipping and erratic shifting.
- Electrical Concerns: Electrical issues have been reported, including problems with the central locking system, instrument cluster, warning lights, power windows, and convertible top.
- Suspension System: Complaints include issues with the front suspension components such as control arms and ball joints, leading to a loss of handling and potential safety concerns.
To address these issues comprehensively, owners of the 2001 BMW Z8 should consider regular maintenance checks and prompt repairs by qualified professionals to ensure the optimal performance and longevity of their vehicles.
How many 2001 BMW Z8 were made?
5700 cars
Despite costing more than twice as much as the M5, with a $135,300 base price in 2000, the Z8 had no difficulty finding an enthusiastic audience in the United States. More than 2500 were sold here, close to half of the total production of 5700 cars.
Why are BMW Z8 so expensive?
Only 5,703 Z8s were built from 2000-2003, making them a rare sight on the roads. Originally cost $125,000, but examples have crested over $400,000 in recent auction sales.
Is the BMW Z8 a rare car?
5,703 BMW Z8s were made, between 1999 and 2003. Around half were made for North America, with the other half coming to Europe. Being left-hand drive only, the UK only opted for just over 100 units. So, if you see a UK Z8, it is very rare, but in the states, not so much.
Why did BMW stop making the Z8?
The aluminum monocoque chassis, engine behind the centerline of the front wheels, and 50:50 weight distribution enabled the Z8 to lay down solid sports car performance while still being a capable tourer. Unfortunately, the Z8's $128k starting sticker put a damper on sales, and production didn't last long.

This car is amazing! I recently traded my Porsche Turbo for the Z8 and I have to say, it is far superior. The car is so powerful that it will smoke the tires off in 1st gear. It handles like a dream and everywhere I go, people love it. The stereo is the best stock stereo I have ever heard. It is very clean and clear at all volumes. The electric top is great and it also has a removable hard top. The V8 engine puts out just under 400hp and it feels like even more. I highly recommend this car to any car enthusiast as it is the ultimate sports car for the money. The real deal is behind the wheel - it's like a cross between the old Jaguar XKE V-12 and a Shelby roadster, only this is better. If you can find one, I suggest you buy it!

Hi there! I just wanted to share that I absolutely love my car! I've been thinking about upgrading to a Vanquish, but every time I drive it to the dealer for a trade-in, I just can't seem to let it go.

This is a really great machine, finely tuned, the ultimate BMW achievement. The comfortable interior hides the power under the hood. Be careful when pushing the 'sport' button, as it unleashes an extraordinary surge in power and control. Only get this vehicle (if you can find one) if you don't mind constant attention and admiring looks from bystanders and other drivers.

This is a fabulous car! It's so exciting to drive and feels great. Just a heads up, don't expect to get out of the gas station too quickly - people are always coming over to stare and chat. I've even had people wave me down on the street to stop so they could photograph it. It's truly an awesome car!

The retro design is fantastic! The interior leathers are soft and always have that new car smell. Although the navigation map is small and only displays arrows and voice directions, it still gets the job done. Personally, I prefer having a map on my nav system, but that's just me. The dashboard is also retro and looks great. The power of the 4.9L engine is awesome, and the sound of the exhaust is low and second to none.
