For the eighth-generation Accord released for the North American market in 2007, Honda had again chosen to move the model further upscale and increase its size. This pushed the Accord sedan from the upper limit of what the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) defines as a mid-size car to just above the lower limit of a full-size car, with the coupe still rated as a mid-size car. In 2012, the ninth-generation Accord sedan, with smaller exterior dimensions, was once again classified as a mid-size car at 119 cubic feet (3.4 m3), falling just shy of the "Large Car" classification. However, the tenth-generation Accord sedan, with similar exterior dimensions, returned to full-size car status with its combined interior space of 123 cubic feet (3.5 m3); the coupe was discontinued in 2017.
In 1982, the Accord became the first car from a Japanese manufacturer to be produced in the United States when production commenced in Marysville, Ohio at Honda's Marysville Auto Plant. The Accord has achieved considerable success, especially in the United States, where it was the best-selling Japanese car for sixteen years (1982–97), topping its class in sales in 1991 and 2001, with around ten million vehicles sold. Numerous road tests, past and present, rate the Accord as one of the world's most reliable vehicles. The Accord has been on the Car and Driver 10Best list a record 38 times.
In 1989, the Accord was the first vehicle sold under an import brand to become the best-selling car in the United States. As of 2020, the Accord has sold more than 18 million units.

- Summary: Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2020-2022 Pilot, Accord, Civic sedan, HR-V, Odyssey, 2020 Civic coupe, Fit, 2021-2022 Civic hatchback, 2021 Civic Type R, Insight, 2020-2021 CR-V, CR-V Hybrid, Passport, Ridgeline, Accord Hybrid, 2020 Acura MDX, 2022 Acura MDX, 2020-2022 Acura RDX, and 2020-2021 Acura TLX vehicles. The front passenger seat weight sensor may crack and short circuit, failing to suppress the air bag as intended.
- Consequence: An air bag that deploys unintentionally during a crash can increase the risk of injury.
- Remedy: Dealers will replace the seat weight sensors, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed March 28, 2024, and October 18, 2024. This is a phased recall. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for these recalls are XHP and VHQ.

- Consequence: Fuel pump failure can cause an engine stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Dealers will replace the fuel pump module, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed September 6, 2024. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are KGC and KGD. This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall numbers 21V-215 and 20V-314.

A software error may cause intermittent or continuous disruptions in communication between the Body Control Module (BCM) and other components. This may result in malfunctions of various systems such as the windshield wipers and defroster, rearview camera, exterior lights, audible warning of a stopped vehicle, and power window operation. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 103, "Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems" and number 111, "Rear Visibility" as well as FMVSS numbers 104, 108, 114, 118, and 305.
- Consequence: Various system malfunctions such as inoperative windshield wipers, defroster, rearview camera, or exterior lighting can increase the risk of a crash.
- Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will update the BCM software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin February 22, 2021. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's number for this recall is X95.

It runs ~450 miles per full gas tank and I love how fuel efficient it is. After 30,000 miles, it still performs excellently and is very fuel efficient. I highly recommend this car!

The Accord Hybrid is such a comfortable, smooth, and quiet car! It's amazing how it has plenty of acceleration to merge with freeway traffic, and gets over 45 MPG! I think this technology is a sane and reasonable step on the path to energy independence. It's so much better than legislating electric cars that few people can afford.

I'm really happy with my car! The gas mileage keeps improving and it's a luxurious and spacious drive. Even though I'm retired and don't put as many miles on the car as I used to, I still love driving it. I had to take an emergency road trip shortly after purchasing it and drove nearly 2000 miles in my second week of ownership. I'm very pleased with the performance and features available on my car, and so far, the gas mileage has been around 39 mpg on the highway. Compared to my Civic, my Accord Hybrid is a far superior drive, and I'm truly enjoying this vehicle.

The car has a reliable drivetrain and decent quality and fit. However, the ride on anything but smooth pavement was poor and the seats lacked sufficient padding for longer rides. Additionally, the technology was just one step below that of my Subaru. Overall, I was disappointed with the car.

I recently purchased the ACCORD HYBRID TOURING edition, which was the 'top of the line' HYBRID model available from Honda at the time. Although I paid a premium for the car due to availability issues, I thought it would be worth the additional money. The car initially got great gas mileage, over 50 mpg, for the first 12,000 miles in the ECON mode. However, since then, the MPG has dropped to mostly below 40 MPG, which is the best it has done recently. While the 'normal' mode gets a little better than 40 MPG (42 at times), the ECON mode fails to achieve 40 MPG. Despite the dealer's attempts to lay the blame on weather and driving habits, I believe there is an issue with the HYBRID battery or the ECON software is not performing properly. I have spoken with a national HONDA call center, but unfortunately, they told me there was nothing they could do. As a first-time HONDA owner, I am disappointed in the car, the service department, and HONDA corporate. I would not buy this car again. I am giving it one star only because it started out great, but went downhill and the company doesn't seem to want to pursue an answer.
