2009 Gmc Canyon problems
The Chevrolet Colorado (sharing mechanical commonality with the GMC Canyon), is a series of compact pickup trucks (mid-size since second generation) marketed by American automaker General Motors. They were introduced in 2004 to replace the Chevrolet S-10 and GMC S-15/Sonoma compact pickups. The Colorado is named after the U.S. state of Colorado, while the Canyon would be the deep chasm between cliffs.
First generation (2004)
The Chevrolet Colorado and its twin, the GMC Canyon were jointly designed by GM's North American operations, GM's Brazil operations, and Isuzu, which began selling its own version worldwide in 2002. In late 2005, Isuzu offered a version in North America called the Isuzu i-series. This North American model Isuzu shared North American powertrains, styling, and equipment with the Colorado/Canyon twins and differed from Isuzu's worldwide offering. All Chevrolet, GMC, and Isuzu versions worldwide are based on the GMT355, itself the basis for the GMT 345-based Hummer H3. Most vehicles for markets outside North America are manufactured at a GM plant in Rayong, Thailand. All North American-market vehicles were manufactured by Shreveport Operations.
The cooperation between GM and Isuzu to build a light-duty truck and offer it in North America returns to an original arrangement the two companies had in the 1970s with the Chevrolet LUV, a rebadged Isuzu Faster.

Common 2009 Gmc Canyon problems
The GMC Canyon, introduced in 2004, is a mid-size truck known for its stylish design and practical features
. However, like any vehicle, it is prone to certain common problems. Here are some of the most frequently reported issues with the 2009 GMC Canyon, based on complaints from owners:
- Timing Chain: The timing chain in the 2009 GMC Canyon is located inside the engine and connects the bottom internals to the top. It functions similarly to a timing belt but is designed to last longer, provided the vehicle has regular oil changes with high-quality engine oil. However, the timing chain in the 2009 Canyon tends to break, which can prevent the engine from starting or cause damage to the pistons and valves if it fails while driving.
- PCV Hose: The PCV hose in the 2009 GMC Canyon is located under the hood, behind the intake. In models where it's made of rubber, it can become brittle and crack, leading to drivability issues or a rough-running engine. The check engine light may display codes P0300 and P0171, indicating a fuel trim issue. The only solution is to replace the PCV hose, which may require removing the plenum to access it.
- Low Idle Speed: A low idle speed in the 2009 GMC Canyon can force the engine to work harder than necessary to move the vehicle. The most common cause is a dirty throttle body, which can be cleaned by removing the intake snorkel and throttle body. If the throttle body is too damaged, it may need to be replaced.
- EVAP Vent Valve: The EVAP vent valve in the 2009 GMC Canyon is part of the emission system and helps prevent fuel vapor from reaching the atmosphere. When damaged, it can cause a check engine light with codes P0450 or other EVAP-related codes. Debris accumulation is a common problem, preventing the valve from opening or closing properly. The only solution is to replace the EVAP vent valve.
- Blower Motor Resistor: The blower motor resistor in the 2009 GMC Canyon is located next to the blower motor. It has wires attached to it that can wear out or burn due to the amperage from the motor. If the resistor fails, it can cause issues with the air conditioning system, such as no airflow or inconsistent temperature settings.
These are some of the most common problems reported by owners of the 2009 GMC Canyon. Regular maintenance and inspections can help prevent or address these issues, ensuring the vehicle remains reliable and safe to drive.

The contact stated during an oil change, he was informed by the mechanic that the sub frame was fractured between the driver’s side door and the passenger’s side door. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the local dealer however, the independent mechanic advised the contact that the entire sub frame needed to be replaced because the fracture could not be welded. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 157,000.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-12-29
- VIN: 1gtcs139398
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: My husband recently asked if I had encountered any problems using the cruise control in this vehicle. Since I seldom drive any distance with that vehicle, I never noticed anything. But he had traveled onto the interstate, and when attempting to set the cruise, noticed it didn't work. Yesterday, I had to follow him somewhere, and I noticed the brake lights weren't coming on. We tested all the other things (tail lights, back up lights, turn signals), and everything was working properly. Today I was looking to see how to replace the brake light switch, and also noticed there were instructions on how to replace the cruise control switch and fuses, too (as they all seem to be related.) Then I found that some models of the Chevy Colorado and the GMC Canyon were affected by a recall for this same issue. When I looked it up just now, this model (2009 GMC Canyon) is not under the recall (but it has the same issue).
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2021-12-10
- VIN: 1gtcs199598
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Car will periodically and unpredictably not crank, fire or start. After attempting approximately 10 minutes later it will. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? One never knows circumstances in which they need reliable transportation. In my case I have elderly parents that can need me at any given time. In most cases it is an annoyance but due to the unpredictable factor anything could happen. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes but no codes were trapped in ECM Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2020-10-21
- VIN: 1GTCS149898
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: I WAS DRIVING APPROX. 65 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON THE NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY WHEN I LOST ALL POWER TO MY TRUCK AND WAS BARELY ABLE TO MANUEVER OFF THE ROAD. I HAD MY TRUCK TOWED TO MY MECHANIC & WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP FLOW CONTROL MODULE. RECALL NO. 08411 2009 GMC CANYONS WERE RECALLED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THE RECALL STATED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM CONTROL MODULES HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH AN ADHESIVE SEPARATION OF THE RTV SEAL BETWEEN THE SEAL AND THE HOUSING MAY ALLOW WATER TO SEEP INTO THE MODULE. WATER IN THE MODULE COULD CAUSE A SHORT, ILLUMINATION OF THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT (WHICH WAS ON IN MY TRUCK). ALSO THE ENGINE MAY BE HARD TO START, MAY NOT START OR MAY STALL. IF THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE IT IS MOVING, A CRASH MAY OCCUR! THIS HAPPENED TO ME BUT I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO NOT CRASH AND DIE. LIKE OTHERS MY TRUCK DID NOT FALL WITHIN THE VIN #S. OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THIS PART. MY TRUCK HAD THE PROBLEMS STATED IN THE RECALL AND THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY MY MECHANIC & DEALERSHIP. HOWEVER, GMC DENIED THE REIMBURSEMENT BECAUSE IT WAS NOT WITHIN THE RECALLED VIN#S. GMC WAS NOT BROAD ENOUGH WITH THEIR RECALL!! I'M ATTACHING A PHOTO OF THE MODULE AND YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THE CORROSION .

- Summary: MY PICKUP HAS WHAT GM REFERS TO AS "PHANTOM SHIFT". WHILE TRAVELING ON I5 @ 70 MILES PER HR, MY PICKUP THRU NO ACTION ON MY PART, SHIFTED INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE. PREVIOUSLY THIS HAPPENED WHILE TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT AT SLOWER SPEEDS. GM ISSUED A "BULLETIN" IN FEB. 2011 GIVING DEALERS INSTRUTIONS ON HOW TO DEAL WITH, AND REPAIRS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. A LOCAL DEALER, USING THAT BULLETIN, IN DECEMBER 2016 PROCEEDED TO "FIX THIS PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE." CHARGING ME $849.35. IN JULY 2017 THE SAME PROBLEM RE-APPEARED. THE LOCAL DEALER (AIRPORT CHEVROLET IN MEDFORD, OREGON) IS NOW REFUSING TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY FOR THEIR "FIX IN DECEMBER CLAIMING THAT BECAUST THE COMPUTER IN MY VEHICLE IS NOT "THROWING ANY CODES". GM IS DEMANDING THAT I GET A SECOND OPION AT ANOTHER DEALER AT MY EXPENSE WHEN THE OTHER DEALER HAS ALREADY ESPRESSED AN ORAL OPION THAT THEY KNOW THEY CAN'T FIX ANYTHING THAT DOESN'T "THROW CODES". ACCORDING TO INFO I HAVE DISCOVERED ON LINE, THIS PROBLEM HAS EXHISTED WITH THIS PARTICULAR MODEL PICKUP SINCE 2004 AND NOW, GM IS REFUSING TO COOPERATE WITH ME. PLEASE HELP UPDATED 09/11/2017*JS
FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2017-08-01
- VIN: 1GTCS139198
- Components: FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
- Summary: ATTEMPT TO START THE ENGINE AFTER SITTING FOR A FEW HOURS IN DRIVEWAY, THE ENGINE STARTS THEN SPUTTERS AND STALLS AS IF NOT GETTING ENOUGH GAS AND ATTEMPTS TO DIE. AFTER A FEW MOMENTS, IT FINALLY CATCHES UP AND RUNS. ENGINE HAS STALLED WHILE SITTING AT TRAFFIC LIGHS SEVERAL TIMES. ACCORDING TO DOCUMENT ID # 2274089--- #08411 PRODUCT SAFETY- HARD START, NO START, ENGINE STALL- REPLACE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE- ( MAY 7, 2009) I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO A GMC DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST ALONG WITH A COPY OF RECALL BUT THEY CLAIM THAT IT IS A SERVICE BULLENTIN AND NOT A RECALL SO THEY WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT GATEWAY SERVICE DEALERSHIP AND TOLD THEM THE PROBLEM I WAS HAVING WITH THE ENGINE STALL. THEY PULLED UP THE RECALL AND SHOWED IT TO ME AND ADVISED ME TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO A GM DEALERSHIP FOR THE RECALL THAT THE GM DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THERE IS NO RECALL. I HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK FOR 4 YEARS NOW AND THE SAME PROBLEM EXIST BUT GM DENYS THAT A RECALL EXIST EVEN WHEN I HAVE THE PAPERWORK IN HAND.THE RECALL PERTAINS TO TRUCK NUMBERSBETWEEN 98104805 - 98123129. MY TRUCK # IS 98123053 WHICH FALLS IN THAT CATEGORY. MY VEHICLE FALLS INTO THIS CATEGORY BUT HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED SINCE I HAVE HAD POSESSION. I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF THIS PROBLEM CAN BE RESOLVED.

- VIN: 1GTDT13L298
- Components: POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: I DRIVE A 2009 GMC CANYON. WHEN DRIVING I'VE NOTICE THAT WHEN HITTING A HARD BUMP, SOMETIMES TURNING OR ACCELERATING QUICKLY WHETHER ON THE HIGHWAY OR STREET, THE TRUCK SHUTS OFF CAUSING THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES USELESS AND VERY HARD TO APPLY. SOMETIMES THIS HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES IN THE COURSE OF ONE TRIP AND HAPPENS AT A VARIETY OF DIFFERENT SPEEDS. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. THE ICON FOR THE THEFT DETERRENT APPEARS. THEN I HAVE TO QUICKLY PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO RESTART THE TRUCK. THE DATE BELOW IS THE MOST RECENT DAY IT HAS HAPPENED. THIS HAS BECOME A VERY SERIOUS CAUSE OF CONCERN FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. I'M NOT SURE IF THIS IS RELATED TO THE IGNITION RECALL OR ANY OTHER RECALL. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN I HIT A HARD BUMP IN THE ROAD, AGAIN AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. I'VE TAKEN IT TO MY MECHANIC, BUT HE WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I'VE DECIDED TO ASK THE DEALER IF THEY KNOW OF ANY RELATED PROBLEMS AND SEE WHAT RESPONSE I GET, BUT I ALSO WANTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT TO FIND OUT IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING THIS ISSUE. IF YOU ARE AWARE OF ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS RELATED TO THIS ISSUE, CAN YOU PLEASE CONTACT ME SO THAT I MAY RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I DON'T WANT TO TAKE THIS ISSUE LIGHTLY BECAUSE THE LIFE OF MY FAMILY IS INVOLVED. IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER QUESTIONS PLEASE CONTACT ME, MY NAME IS [XXX] AND MY PHONE NUMBER IS [XXX]. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2015-11-01
- VIN: 1GTDT19E498
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE
- Summary: FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW, VEHICLE WILL NOT START. TURN KEY, NO CLICK, NO CRANK, NOTHING. ALL STANDARD DASH LIGHT COME ON, HEADLIGHTS ARE BRIGHT, ALL ACCESSORY ITEMS WORK FINE, JUST NO START. HAVE TAKEN TRUCK IN TO DEALERSHIP TWICE NOW FOR PROBLEM, AND NO RESOLUTION. STARTS EVERY TIME FOR THEM. LAST TIME TOOK KEY AND PAPERWORK, WENT OUT TO LOT, GOT IN, AND NO START, WENT BACK IN TO DEALERSHIP, FINALLY GRABBED MECHANIC, WENT TO TRUCK, BUT IT STARTED OK. MAY NOT FAIL AGAIN FOR A DAY OR MORE, THEN FAIL SEVERAL TIMES IN SAME DAY. FAILED TO START TODAY AFTER PULLING INTO GAS STATION AND GETTING FUEL, WOULD NOT START. LONG LINE OF CARS BEHIND ME AND SITUATION GOT VERY UGLY FAST. STATION OWNER/WORKER HELPED DIFFUSE SITUATION. IF YOU LET VEHICLE SIT FOR 10-15 MINUTES BETWEEN RETRIES, IT MAY START. *JS
ENGINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-03-12
- VIN: 1GTCS139398
- Components: ENGINE
- Summary: EVERY FEW DAYS THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START.... THE SECURITY LIGHT COMES ON.. YOU HAVE TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY AND WAIT FOR ABOUT 10 TO 15 MINUTES FOR THE COMPUTER TO RESET BEFORE YOU CAN RESTART THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST ONCE TO TWICE A WEEK STARTING SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE... I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WHAT BECAUSE IT DID NOT DO IT TO THEM. I ASKED IF THEY STARTED IT AND DROVE IT SEVERAL TIMES FOR A FEW DAYS LIKE I DO AND THEY SAID NO THEY JUST PUT IT ON A MACHINE AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THIS I FEEL WAS SOMETHING THAT WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE WHEN I BOUGHT IT OR HAPPENED FOR SOME REASON SHORTLY AFTER WHEN I STILL SHOULD HAVE HAD A FACTORY WARRANTY... SO IT SHOULD BE FIXED AT NO CHARGE TO ME... IT IS OBVIOUSLY A FACTOR SECURITY DEFECT. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 7 MONTHS AND I AM TIRED OF HAVING TO DEAL WITH IT AND ALL THEY TELL ME IS WE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG.. I DON'T FEEL LIKE I SHOULD HAVE TO BE PAYING FOR A VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY.. IT SHOULD BE FIXED SO I HAVE WHAT I AM PAYING FOR A PROPERLY WORKING VEHICLE. *TR
AIR BAGS PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-03-03
- VIN: 1GTDT199398
- Components: AIR BAGS
- Summary: MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON UNEXPECTEDLY AND REMAINED ON. THE CAUSE WAS DUE TO BROKEN AIRBAG (ORANGE WIRING IN THE EXTENDED CAB DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR. UPON INSPECTION, SEVERAL WIRES (AIR BAG (ORANGE), A SPEAKER WIRE (BROWN) WERE COMPLETELY BROKEN. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM WITH CHEVY COLORADOS/GMC CANYONS WITH EXTENDED CABS AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO FURTHER. THE AIRBAG SHOULDN'T BE COMPROMISED BECAUSE OF A POOR WIRING DESIGN IN THE REAR DOOR. *TR
FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2014-06-08
- VIN: 1GTCS199698
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
- Summary: TO START OUT I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT THIS IS MY FIRST BRAND NEW VEHICLE I HAVE EVER BOUGHT. I WAS ON I 475 DRIVING APPROX. 65 MPH WHEN I LOST ALL POWER TO MY TRUCK AND WAS BARELY ABLE TO COAST OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD MY TRUCK TOWED TO THE NEAREST GMC DEALERSHIP TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP FLOW CONTROL MODULE. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AT HOME AND FOUND OUT THAT 2009 GMC CANYONS WERE RECALLED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. HELLO, THIS HAPPENED TO ME BUT I WAS FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO NOT CRASH AND DIE. SO BACK TO THE RECALL ON MY TRUCK. GUESS WHAT? MY TRUCK DID NOT FALL WITHIN THE VIN #S THAT WERE RECALLED AND I WAS REQUIRED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE MY WARRANTY COVERED THIS PROBLEM IF THE TRUCK WAS WITHIN 3 YEARS OR 36,000 MILES WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. WELL MY MILEAGE WAS ONLY 31,000 SO THAT WOULD QUALIFY BUT MY TRUCK WAS OVER 3 YEARS OLD. THIS IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WRONG!!! OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH 2009 GMC CANYONS BEING BUILT. HOW CAN YOU SAY IT WAS JUST A CERTAIN FEW THAT HAD THIS FAULTY PART PUT IN IT. MY TRUCK OBVIOUSLY HAD THE PROBLEMS STATED IN THE RECALL AND THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY THE DEALERSHIP.HOWEVER AFTER MANY AGGRAVATING HOURS TO GMC THEY STILL DENIED THE FIX BECAUSE IT WAS NOT WITHIN THE RECALLED VIN#S AND THAT IS WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE OR GET HURT BEFORE THEY DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS? *TR

POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2011-10-13
- Components: POWER TRAIN,VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
- Summary: I SENT IN THIS COMPLAINT A YEAR AGO AND NEVER HEARD BACK FROM YOU. THROTTLE STICKS ON MY CANYON AND IT APPEARS TO BE COMPUTER RELATED. IT CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE EVEN AFTER TAKING MY FOOT "OFF THE GAS." IT WILL REV DOWN AFTER HITTING THE BRAKE PEDAL. HAVE YOU HEARD OF THIS BEFORE? TRUCK IS STANDARD SHIFT AND USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN "GOING THROUGH THE GEARS". *TR

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,POWER TRAIN PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-11-28
- VIN: 1GTCS149X98
- Components: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE,POWER TRAIN
- Summary: THIS INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOPPED POSITION AND GOING THROUGH THE GEARS WHEN ACCELERATING QUICKLY, THE ACCELERATOR HAS STUCK EVEN WHEN MY FOOT IS TAKEN OFF OF THE PEDAL. THIS HAPPENS AS I AM SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR, WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS THEN PUSH IN THE CLUTCH AND SHIFT GEAR AND RELEASE THE CLUTCH, THE COMPUTER DOES NOT RESPOND TO MY FOOT COMING OFF THE THROTTLE. THE TRUCK CONTINUES TO ACCELERATE EVEN WITH MY FOOT OFF OF THE THROTTLE. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE ACCELERATION IS TO REPEATEDLY TAP THE PEDAL UNTIL IT RELEASES. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I THOUGHT THAT I MIGHT HAVE INADVERTENTLY HIT THE CRUISE CONTROL BUT THIS IS NOT THE CASE. IT SEEMS THAT I NEED TO ALLOW APPROXIMATELY A ONE SECOND DELAY FROM WHEN I REMOVE MY FOOT FROM THE THROTTLE UNTIL I PUSH IN THE CLUTCH TO AVOID THIS SITUATION. IS THIS TYPICAL OF TODAY'S COMPUTER CONTROLLED VEHICLES? *TR
EXTERIOR LIGHTING,SERVICE BRAKES PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2012-07-10
- VIN: 1GTCS139798
- Components: EXTERIOR LIGHTING,SERVICE BRAKES
- Summary: MY HUSBAND'S BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OUT ON HIS 2009 GMC CANYON. HE TOOK IT TO A DEALER TO HAVE IT FIXED. WE READ ONLINE THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR HIS BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH. THEY CHECKED HIS VIN AND SAID THERE WASN'T ANYTHING. IT ISN'T THE BULBS, FUSE, ETC. THEY "FIXED" IT AND SAID "IT'LL EITHER WORK FOR THE NEXT 5 MIN OR IT WON'T WORK AT ALL." AND HANDED HIM THE KEYS. HE DROVE IT AND SURE ENOUGH, THE LIGHTS WENT OUT, AGAIN. HE TOOK IT BACK AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. "IT MAY OR MAY NOT WORK, YADA YADA..." WHY WOULD THEY HAND THEM THE KEYS PLUS ALLOW IT PASS FOR INSPECTION IF IT DOES NOT WORK? AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED, THE WORK HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETED. MY HUSBAND RECENTLY GOT OUT OF THE USMC AND HAS YET TO FIND WORK. WE CANNOT AFFORD TO KEEP TAKING IT BACK OR YET PAY FOR A TICKET!!!! *TR
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM PROBLEM
- Date Of Incident: 2011-01-01
- VIN: 1GTDT13E798
- Components: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
- Summary: ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM WOULD NOT ALLOW THE TRUCK TO START, THEN ONCE STARTED THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD COMPONENTS FAILED NO SPEEDOMETER, FUEL, TEMP OR AIR CONDITIONER WOULD WORK, ALSO THE TRACTION CONTROL WENT INTO ALARM... GMC PEOPLE SAID THEY COULD NOT SEE ANY ALARM CODES AND FAILED TO REPAIR THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM... RECOMMENDED I GET ON-STAR TO HELP IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM.. I DID, IT FAILED AGAIN AND ON-STAR SAW THE CODES HOWEVER GMC SAYS THEY CANNOT TRUST ON-STAR FINDINGS, EVEN THOUGH THEY RECOMMENDED THEM WHICH IS COSTING ME $30.00 A MONTH TO MONITOR THEIR VEHICLES WARRANTY.. STILL DRIVING A TRUCK THAT SOMETIMES DOES NOT START AND THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING... VERY DANGEROUS.

- Summary: GM IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2004-2011, CHEVROLET COLORADO, GMC CANYON, MODEL YEAR 2006, ISUZU I-280/I-350, AND MODEL YEAR 2007-2008, I-290/I-370, REGULAR CAB VEHICLES AND EXTENDED CAB VEHICLES WITHOUT A REAR SEAT AND EQUIPPED WITH A FRONT 60/40 SPLIT BENCH SEAT. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 225, "CHILD RESTRAINT ANCHORAGE SYSTEMS." THE TOP TETHER ANCHOR FOR THE FRONT CENTER SEAT IS NOT ACCESSIBLE AND THE OWNER MANUAL DOES NOT INCLUDE INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING HOW TO USE THE TOP TETHER.
- Consequence: BOTH NHTSA AND GM DISCOURAGE PLACEMENT OF A CHILD IN A FRONT SEAT. NEVERTHELESS, THERE ARE INDIVIDUAL CIRCUMSTANCES THAT MAY REQUIRE PLACEMENT OF A CHILD IN A RESTRAINT IN THE FRONT CENTER SEATING POSITION OF THIS VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT OFFER A REAR SEAT. LACK OF ACCESS TO THE TOP TETHER ANCHOR AND A LACK OF INSTRUCTIONS AS TO HOW TO USE IT, MAY RESULT IN IMPROPER INSTALLATION OF A CHILD RESTRAINT. IMPROPER INSTALLATION OF A CHILD RESTRAINT CAN RESULT IN A REDUCTION IN THE RESTRAINT'S PERFORMANCE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH AND AN INCREASED RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH TO THE CHILD SEATED IN THE RESTRAINT.
- Remedy: DEALERS WILL CUT A HOLE INTO THE BACK PANEL TRIM COVER TO ALLOW ACCESS TO THE TOP TETHER ANCHOR FOR THE FRONT CENTER SEAT POSITION AND WILL PROVIDE SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION AS TO USE IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED AN OWNER NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. OWNERS MAY CONTACT CHEVROLET AT 1-800-630-2438, GMC AT 1-866-996-9463, ISUZU AT 1-800-255-6727 OR VISIT GM'S WEBSITE AT WWW.GMOWNERCENTER.COM.

This is the perfect vehicle for a disabled Grandma who loves to go camping with her kids. The driver's seat with lumbar support is a godsend, making it easy to get in and out of the seat. The crew cab has plenty of room for three children and even taller adults will find enough leg room. The short bed has enough space for a mobility scooter and all the camping gear. On the highway, I consistently average slightly over 25 MPG and 18-19 MPG in town. The OnStar is amazing, allowing me to receive calls in remote areas where my cell phone does not work. This 5 cyl. truck has no problem climbing mountains even when fully loaded. I absolutely love this truck!

The truck may lack power, especially after adding larger wheel/tires, but there are ways to improve its performance. I added exhaust, high performance plugs, throttle body spacer, and knn air filter, which all helped quite a bit. The exterior design is fabulous, making it a great looking truck. The auto locker in the rear is a great feature to have, and has saved me a lot, especially when driving in 2-wheel drive. The interior with the vinyl floor is nice and easy to keep clean, with no carpet to worry about staining. However, the seats could be more comfortable. On the bright side, it handles very well around corners. It's worth noting that the manual version has a lower towing capacity. Overall, it's a great truck with some room for improvement.

This 4 cyl Canyon has been a great replacement for my Chevy S10. I looked at all the small pickups available, including Ford, Toyota, and Nissan, but I am extremely pleased with my choice. Despite upgrading to a 2.9 engine and switching from a standard to automatic transmission, I have been getting the same gas mileage as my old S10, with 23/24 around town and 27/28 on the highway. It's been a joy to drive!

This is my first Canyon and I absolutely love it! It has fantastic towing capability and comes with a lot of standard features, such as remote keyless entry, cruise control, and intermittent wipers. I even opted for XM satellite radio, which is a great addition. It's amazing that Canyon offers a leather-wrapped steering wheel, while Toyota makes you pay extra for keyless entry and cruise control on the Tacoma.

Just wanted to let you know that I have the extended cab V8 SLT, which unfortunately wasn't an option on this website. I've been driving this truck for about 9 months now and I absolutely love it! It's incredibly comfortable to drive and the heated seats are a lifesaver during Colorado winters. The truck handles really well on snow and rough dirt roads. While the gas mileage isn't the best, it's to be expected with a V8 engine. Plus, it has great acceleration for those mountain roads!

I hope you've been enjoying your vehicle for the past 2 years! It sounds like you've been putting it to good use for your business needs, towing a trailer and snowplowing with a BOSS plow. The locking rear differential is a great feature for 4 wheeling. Plus, it's nice to know that it runs quietly on the highway. By the way, I think it's awesome that you upgraded the wheels to 18 inches, which you purchased from GM Parts!

Frames rot out from front to back. I have one with 130,000 miles and took it for inspection and unfortunately, the rear frame and shackles are completely gone, along with the cross members. It's a real shame.

I have extensive experience with this model, having owned one for the past 6 years and driven it for over 50k miles. While I have invested a significant amount of money in repairs during this time, including replacing 4 front wheel bearings at a cost of $700 to $900 each, 2 sets of plugs and coils, a water pump, a fuel pump, a bad cruise control switch on the turn signal stalk, broken exhaust heat shields, and recurring evap and random misfire codes, I can confidently say that this model is a reliable and durable vehicle. Unfortunately, due to frame corrosion, I will soon be retiring it at around 150k miles.

I purchased this truck brand new and unfortunately, I have experienced some issues. When it arrived from PA, it already had 600 miles on it. Within the first two weeks, the driver's and passenger's windows got stuck and wouldn't go up. After a year and a half, I needed to replace the rear brakes, followed by the front brakes. Although the truck has been squeaking since then, I have been able to manage it. Additionally, the tires that came with the truck began warping from the inside after about a year. On top of all these issues, the gas mileage is not great. I travel approximately 53 miles a day and I have to fill up every four days. I am currently exploring other options, but I am not looking forward to losing money.
